Hi everyone!
I'm going to try once again to catch up. I really hated that I lost that one really long post and I've felt the need to go back and re-create some of it and just haven't had the time. I will try once again.
I continue to struggle with the eatting issues, getting better every day. Ever since my lunch with Susie on Monday I have sworn off my latest addiction, which is Tim Horton's cafe mochas and apple fritters. I have not had any since last Friday and swore off them on Monday altogether. It's funny because I really only had that one morning (Monday) where I had to have nasty conversations with myself about it, since then, I haven't even considered stopping there. Now my question is: If I can be so committed about giving up that EVIL habit, why can't I give up some of the others?
I was proactive last night and made a batch of the pistachio fluff (see recipe page) and portioned it out so that it's quick to grab when I need a sweet 'fix'. Syn's Chai Tea has been a wonderful comfort (I use Splenda instead of the sugar to make it more 'point' friendly). I've been making a cup at least once a day (at night) and sometimes more. Even went out and bought myself a cute little teapot (it's "short and stout" just like me
).
I'm having a hard time remembering what I've really said in a post that actually made it to the thread and the responses I wrote in the post I lost. So if you've read any of this before, just deal with it, ok?
The "baby" loves his new car. He bought a Subaru WRX. Took that to Buffalo, NY this past weekend and had a wonderful time. He was off work and school on Monday for Martin Luther King's birthday so he drove back on Monday instead of Sunday night. Said he didn't have any weather to deal with so that's good.
Joyce:
Happy Birthday, to you!
Happy Birthday, to you!
Happy Birthday, dear Joyce!
Happy Birthday, to you! and many more.....
I was so sorry to read about your little episode the other day. I hope that you will be able to figure out just exactly what's going on with you and be on the way to fixing it real soon. [[[hugs]]] * Just a note: I find that it is less time-consuming to open a second window (one for the thread I'm trying to respond to and one for my reply window) than to try and take notes and respond from them. Less writing, less time. Just a thought.
Katrina: Sorry the post stealing fairy got to you too!
I'm glad to hear your dad is improving. I loved the story of you going to Walmart to buy all the "poop inducing agents". My mother's elderly neighbor can go out and get all her own groceries and medications and such, but she calls my mom and asks her if she can go buy Poise pads, etc. from the drug store for her and feigns that she's "not able to go out today." What a hoot!
2cute: It's so good to 'hear' you sounding so much better and enthusiastic once again.
I know this comment is really late but, yes, it's amazing how many posts there have been, isn't it. My gosh. Can't hardly believe we've been here almost 4 years!
Michelle: I added your Honey Mustard Dressing recipe to our recipe page so that it wouldn't get lost here in the shuffle. I will have to make some up. Honey loves Honey Mustard Dressing and that is certainly 'point' friendly. * To answer your question: We're about 4.5 hours from Niagara Falls, Ontario and about 5 hours from Buffalo.
Jen: "Progress, not perfection right?" That's EXACTLY right! We have to focus and do the best we can; day by day, meal by meal and minute by minute if necessary.
Lucky: I'm with you. I like the Black Cherry Walmart water best too. White Grape and Blackberry Apple are my second favorites. Those three must be everyone's favorites because my Walmarts are always low or out of those 3 flavors.
Barb: Glad you're home safe and that your dad is improving as well. * "I am so sick of being sick and tired! " Boy, do I know that feeling. Sunday was the first day since the Sunday before Christmas that I didn't wake up with a sore throat. Hope you feel better soon.
Mary: Glad your seminar was fun. They're always tiring. All conventions make for a long day. * I was at chat, but not until about 9:30 so everyone was gone by then.
Andria: So sorry to hear about your knee. Hope by now that it is feeling some better. * I didn't get here quick enough to wish you luck on your work troubles. It sounds like you worked it out. Too bad they had to make such an awful situation for themselves and then you had to be the one to contemplate so much grief about it. [[[hugs]]]
Pat/paperdoll: I'm so sorry to hear that you have lost a child. I just cannot imagaine the pain. [[[hugs]]] Congrats on the 2 pounds gone!
Good for you!
Terri: I'm with you. The scale isn't as important as the inches. I would happily be 300 pounds and skinny, than 300 pounds and flabby like I am now!
Gee, I'm back proof-reading and thought, what a silly thing to say. Can 300 pounds ever be considered 'skinny'????
JoeAnne: Great job on all the exercise! Keep up the good work! How's the rest of your life going? Are all the kids doing well? Are you in class this term? I forgot.
Barbg/ageoldie: I was so hoping that you would get a call saying they would accept you anyway in that study. Sorry that doesn't seem to be happening.
Jiffypop: Thanks for peeking in over here. I know you're pretty busy elsewhere on the site, but it's good to see you over here. Stop by anytime.
Tracy: Aren't you a sweetie. I just wish my REAL life was as organized.
Carol/Carrotstyx: Sounds like your life is really going to be hopping. Doing Tax Preparation at this time of year usually keeps people pretty busy.
Audrey/Chequitagirl: Isn't it nice when someone actually notices your accomplishment? Honey found a "before" picture of mine the other day. It was crumpled and wrinkled (the picture, not me!
) and when he handed it to me, he said "boy, there's really been a change in you." That was really nice, since my weightloss has been pretty much just maintaining for quite some time. I think it's kinda like kids, grandparents who don't see your kids everyday, really notice that they've grown, whereas we don't notice so much because they're in our house. Well, I don't think honey remembers just exactly how big I 'used' to be. I'm still big, don't get me wrong, but it was kinda nice that he was reminded that I really have done something in the weightloss arena since I began even though, of late, I've not been really trying. Boy did I get off on a tangent. Sorry. Just really wanted to say "great job". * If you had that Chineese buffet the day before or even two days before your WI, you can count on it skewing the numbers!!! Way too much sodium for just before a WI. My favorite snack type item is WOW potato chips. But I'll never have them on Sunday night before my Monday morning WI.
Tina: Oh honey, you are the only one on the planet that can tell a funny story about being sooooo sick! Bless you, sweetie! [[[hugs]]] Hope you're feeling better by now. * Is that stir fry from Costco? Sounds like the big bag I get from there. I'll buy the Lean Cuisine or Create a Meal bags and then add a bunch of the stir fry veggies from the Costco bag to make them go farther. It's really great and the veggies add alot of volume, but not alot of extra points.
Joanne/homebound: Good to see you! Getting rid of all the RED light foods is always a start. The real key is to not be tempted to buy anymore the next time we go to the store.
Sandy: That scrapbooking party sounds like alot of fun, expensive, but fun. I just don't have the extra money to put into something like that. Most of the crafting I do/did, I've really jumped into, spent alot of bucks and then have it stuffed in a cabinet downstairs. I just went through it before Christmas (at honey's insistance) and donated it all to the nuns at the convent my Aunt was at. They loved it, but it's still a whole bunch of money that would have been better off spent on something else or still in my pocket. * I know you asked Tina, but just in case she didn't get back to you yet, here's the
Flexpoint info:
Less than 150 = 20
150-174 = 22
175-199 = 24
200-224 = 26
225-249 = 28
250-274 = 30
275-299 = 31
300-324 = 32
325-349 = 33
350 or more = 34
Then you also have an addition 35 Flexpoints that you can add no matter what your weight is.
Also: Check out the recipe thread, I just posted my Chicken Pot Pie recipe that can easily use turkey instead of chicken. It's very good and LOW WW points.
Duckie: Sweetie, how the heck are ya??? Good to see you. That was certainly the trip of a lifetime and a few pounds are a few pounds. Now that you're home, you'll get right back with it, and it sounds like you already have. 4 pounds down is GREAT! Hope you'll post some pics of your trip. BTW, if you could post that pic of you and your son again, it would be great. All of the pics were lost in the crash here, so if you'd like to share again, please do. * I'm so sorry about the funeral. It's very special of you to be there for your sister. My prayers are with you all and the family. * I don't have a Gazelle, but I have an AirWalker (similar). I like it, when I use it. Guess that pretty much tells the story, doesn't it???
Amanda: Glad to have you "home". Nice that you had such a great trip. Sounds like your mom kept you going! Hope you're rested soon and pop in with more details.
Syn: You better "duck and run".
Silly girl! Don't let your depression make you hide from us. Force yourself, if you have to, to get out and beat that thing!!!!
Jeanine: Oh honey. I'm sorry you have this stress in your life. I guess I'm with whoever said to talk to your friend (the bride). The reason I say this is because I think sometimes we think all this stuff is obvious, but others just don't get it if it doesn't involve them directly. For instance, I used to drive my mom and my aunt downtown to the casino periodically in my van. My mom couldn't understand why I didn't want to go on the bus trips because you only paid $5 and then got a $15 voucher for lunch so basically you got your money back PLUS a free lunch. Well, finally after her asking me several times to do the bus and me saying "no, that's ok, I'd rather drive" I took her aside and told her I didn't want to do the bus because I wouldn't fit in the seats. She was just totally taken off track. Now when we go to a restaurant, she's more aware of chairs with arms, etc. It's not that she ever wanted me to be embarassed, it's just that she never really had a clue. Maybe this is the case with your friend. She loves you for who you are, not the size you are. She probably sees the REAL you, not the body you happen to be in. It's probably never dawned on her, that you might not be comfortable, that a dress might have to be altered, that you wouldn't have someone to ask to the party. Talk to her. Just be sincere and talk to her. I would hate for you to miss being a part of your friend's big day. [[[hugs]]]
Susie: Good for you being OP. You go girlfriend! *I'm waiting anxiously to hear that you've convinced that man of yours to do things YOUR way!
Would the 4 of us going out to dinner help???
Maybe it would be good for him to know I'm not a wacko? Oh, ummmm, on second thought, maybe we SHOULDN'T have dinner!
Well, girls, I have done my absolute best at responding to everyone. If I missed you, it was certainly NOT intentional.
I love
you all bunches. And now if I don't lose this 4 page post, I will be ever so happy!
Oh, BTW, What do you think of a thread for product recommendations? Just a thought, or would that be getting too carried away with threads to sift through. I just kept thinking that I have found a bunch of store bought cookies that are really awsome and would be a great alternative to whoever mention the Girl Scouts evil cookies!! Anyway, just a thought. See ya later.
