300+ Chat Thread, September 2016
Hello Guys & Gals,
Welcome to Sept. Let's make this month the best one yet. Everyone is welcome to join us in this thread. |
Good morning,
I started my journey on Thursday Sept 1. I commit to Saturday morning weigh ins. I started at 310.2. This morning I am at 307.8. I know it is water weight mostly, but am happy to be out of the 310's. Thank you for this site and for it's community. This is a challenging journey and i know i cannot make it alone. |
I'm just sticking my head back in again after a long absence.
|
Hello everyone!
Hope you're all doing well. I don't check the forums regularly, but just wanted to stop in to say hi and to offer hope for those of you at the beginning of your own journey. Today marks 15 months since the day I committed to changing my life (through nutrition and exercise). I started at 495 pounds on June 4, 2015 and am now just under 300 pounds as of today. I couldn't ask for anything more from life. It's beyond what I ever could have expected 15 months ago. I have so much energy, blood pressure is controlled (no meds), no more obstructive sleep apnea (no cpap machine), blood levels are all normal and have found that I love hiking, biking, and swimming. I regularly engage in physical activities with friends and my social life has honestly never been better. I'm even starting yoga this month and while I am a bit nervous about it, I am looking forward to it. :) My latest progress photos (face): http://emilyfit.com/photos/15months.jpg Happy September to you all! (P.s., message me if you'd like to add me on Fitbit or Facebook). Cheers! |
hi y'all quick  drop in before going to work just to keep in touch and follow the thread!
|
hello all!
|
@emilyFIT, I didn't get a chance to mention it earlier - but you are looking great!
@Phae1963 - this thread is fine, in fact this whole 300 plus group is a good place to be for getting support and accountability for those of us with more weight to loss, chatting with people who are in the same boat as us. Hope to see you around! |
Wow Emily you are truly amazing. Yor results give me hope!
|
HI all
Emily - awesome photos love the smile wow huge changes just dropping in after a very long day at work = home at 8.30 pm local time - start again at work at 7am tomorrow - oh dear not even 12 hours between shifts had a dizzy moment at lunch time when standing up too fast!! not a good feeling Dam TTOM! What else could go wrong |
I'm here but barely. Spiraling out of control but I decided today enough is enough.
Denver was good although the circumstances were not. Flying was not bad at all. I watched my food pretty good while I was there and didn't gain, but as soon as I got back I got very sick to where I could only eat crackers and soup and that started the incline in my weight. I was eating so many carbs from being sick that I just didn't seem to care and craved them. I got back from the lake Monday night to find on Tuesday that I now weigh 235 lb :( Yesterday I worked on watching my food and the carbs. It's going to be one slow day at a time but I'm not giving up. I feel fatter so I'm sure I look fatter :( I guess my goal for the rest of the year is to get back where I was at the beginning of the year then start anew next year. Going to try and get DH going again too. We both need to lose the weight. I want to try for a baby next year hopefully. Sorry I haven't checked in I've been feeling sorry for myself for what I've done, but I figured it's time to stop feeling sorry and do something, so that's where I am today. |
Chugging ALong I hope you have checked on this September thread, I don't want you to think we forgot about you as the month changed. Welcome! I believe in you, stick around here for some support and hopefully that will help bring down the some of your stress. I hope that you do understand that stress really can stop you losing weight. I have been consistently losing 4-6lbs a month except for 6 weeks where I was soo stressed out with university, and everything else that was going on with life I maintained. Not going to lie, the situations that you need to deal with suck! I would not want to be in your shoes. However, like you mentioned, your health needs to be in check so that your family can depend on you. Good luck!!
Opine Well done on starting off! I can't wait to see your progress Catherine Welcome back! Emily That's fantastic!! Your skin looks so much clearer, you look so much happier. I am genuinely clapping my hands in awe for you just now. Well Done! Phae Welcome!!! You are in the right place!! I started in January at 323. I vowed to myself and my friends that I would lose 1lb a week. Slow and steady so that I wouldn't set myself goals that I couldn't achieve. I am 6 weeks behind (due to stress maintaining at the end of my degree), but I am 28.4lbs down and I am super excited! If I never started when I did, I would still be unhappy and the heaviest I had ever been. Its a long haul life change for me, and I will be here in the forum supporting you whenever you need it!. So jump in feet first and have a blast. SamIam I am glad that the flight wasn't as bad as anticipated, and again I am sorry about the whole reason you had to go in the first place. I hope you manage to shift this bug and get back on track soon. It is never great when carbs get in your way :( I believe in you though. Just take each day as it comes. Me Well my business is nearly ready to start, it is quite scary actually. The last two weeks have been very busy for me which has meant that my weight has also been all over the place. Luckily I caught a bug over the weekend and I have now weighed in at my lightest this year. I am currently 294.6 :D that is 28.4lbs off :D I am excited!! But I need to work really hard on my diet and exercise this week to try catch up on maybe 2 extra lbs if possible. |
@SamIAm86 - sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and then were down - we all have our ups and downs with eating better - the important thing is to accept it (not love it, but accept it) and go on....... you have things you want from your life next year and being healthier will make them easier. Hug from me.
@Scotsgal - good luck with your business, congratulations on believing in yourself~ |
Good morning, I wish everyone a good day!
I am stressed at work and I am really focused on not caving into my old habit of stress eating. I am going to leave my credit card in my car so I cannot talk myself into buying anything off plan. I am taking 2 fruity protein shake packets with me for the sweetnees and hope that will take the edge off. |
Good Morning!
I feel soo bloated this week. I think I need to start eating or bringing something into my diet that allows me to be a little more regular (I know TMI). I use ginger in my meals as well a flax seed and I drink a lot of water, not sure whats going on. I have also started today doing a 50 squat a day challenge just to bring a bit of muscle back into my thighs, I can actually feel them flabbing a bit :/ Hope everyone is well. |
Hey y'all, I thought I would join you all in your journeys as I have a long one ahead of me too. 9/6 I weighed in at 313.7 lbs! I almost fell off the scale!. That is the highest I have EVER been! I have finished school now though and have started a new job so I feel that things have calmed down a bit in my life and I know that diet and exercise work for me. ( I lost 65lbs 3years ago with a starting weight of 297) I give myself one day a week(Saturdays) to binge. I know it sets me back a bit but in that one day I eat what I have been craving all week and then start fresh on Sunday. It works for me. So 4 days in I'm down 5.8 lbs. Using my fitness pal and staying within calorie range. Im ready for a smaller me!

Hello LadyA and welcome...
Scotsgal - good luck with your business.. hope you find something that helps ..... warm lemon water to drink perhaps? good luck with your 50 squats a day challenge Opine: sounds like a good plan hope you make it work Sam; Sorry to here you got unwell - horrible nasty little crackers jumping into your mouth I hope you get back to where you want to be soon as for me I am sitting here feeling a little sorry for myself was meant to be child free "date night" but the other half ..(tonight I AM THE BETTER HALF) has buggered off to a rugby match - saying I got the dates wrong rugby is Sat not Friday - did not even bother to actually say it got a text! -worst yet no sorry I screwed up our plans - so I am fighting an emotional battle from I want to eat everything crap which is not good vs sit and cry feeling like **** or get up and do stuff and try not to break it.... so dam frustrating |
I'm back again folks, and struggling. Turned 30 this year and between my depression and the changes I've been going through I haven't seen a major scale movement in months... more like a year? Last year I was down to around 265 but have not seen lower. Back up somewhere around 290 (340 was my highest) and going crazy without a scale. Actually... just going crazy. I'm going to try being around here and getting some sort of routine set up for myself so I can start eating right and losing weight. I'm tired. I've gotta do something...
|
I've often wished I could go back and talk to my 30 year old self. Try to convince the person I was then that keeping a normal weight is worth whatever sacrifice necessary.
|
Hello all.
Weighed in today 307.6 I had a tough end of the week, I did not gain, or lose. I am back on track today. Hope everyone has a good week. We are stronger than we think. |
It sounds like everyone is struggling a bit right now, so first off, <<HUGS>> to all!
That being said - being here, putting your struggle into words instead mouthfuls is a good step and the first part of a better month. Emotional eating only makes us feel better for a short time and we feel worse in the long run. If we are thinking about our health - if we hold on to the hope that cherishing ourselves and not food is important and that we are worthwhile - things will get better, even if the scale may not agree right away. After 2 rainy days of little to no exercise, I was back out there this morning walking my half mile, and everything popped and ached, but I did it because I know those walks are eating away at the health problems that have been plaguing me. I know that you can do it too, even if it's just one thing that makes you feel better - and if you slip - if you have your time when it didn't work out - I know you will get back out there when you can, because you are worth it Just wanted everyone to know that we, here, understand - and believe in you - GO YOU!!! |
LadyA Welcome!! and Well done so far! That is fantastic!:carrot:
KarenCat Thank You, Ill try the Lemon Water, the tablets I took over the weekend from the pharmacist were questionable :?: Felt very sicky all weekend. When you mentioned Rugby I had to stop and wonder where you were from lol, Not a huge sport in the USA. Would love to go to NZ!! P.s Sorry that men are butt holes. neonwildflower You can do it again! I believe in you! Opine As long as its not a gain! its all good!:carrot: Lostbutstilltrying Well done on getting back out there. I walk about 3k (1.8miles) most nights with the dog. It is a completely flat surface and the wind usually carries me the whole way, but it gets me out and doing something. Well done on the motivation for everyone. Your'e a star!:queen: Phae1963 While your living environment sounds like absolute bliss, I cannot imagine how lonely that sometimes feels. Thank god for the dogs! My one drives me insane, takes a real hero to save that many. The way that you shop is perfect for losing weight! if you don't have it in the house you simply cannot eat it! Sadly the home comforts are what you need to battle every now and then. No reason you cant have a healthy mac n cheese version once a week to maybe take the craving away? or would you go all crazy like I would and just make it the most cheesyest, most delicious mac and cheese, an completely bust all your daily calories? :o Oh god now Im hungry just thinking about it **Drool Me Well things are better at my end, I put on a few pounds battling the bloat this week for some reason (probably the pain killers). Last Thursday I weighted in at 294.4 which was my lowest this year, I then jumped up to 296 at one point over the weekend, but I am now as of this morning back to 294.1. My weekly weigh inns are on a wednesday, so I am hoping to get down to 293 by then. A strict few days on the cards for me, Think ill fit in a home workout to help out. |
@scotsgal, thanks for always being on top of personal shoutouts - I know I always appreciate it!
For everyone else, It sounds like everyone is gearing up and ready to tackle challenges this week - I know things are rough, but we can do it, even if it's just a bit better than yesterday! |
Just got back from the pool. Got a mile done in chest deep water. I'm pretty tired afterwards.
|
Lostbutstilltrying :D Thank you, Its a great way to make sure I know what everyone is up to lol.
CatherineM Well Done! I love swimming, but our pool is always full of kids swimming lessons and stuff like that. Very difficult to do lengths. Me Today I weighed in at 292.3 which is past what I hoped to see tomorrow on my weekly weigh in which is fantastic. Just need to surge through today and hope to see an even better number on the scale tomorrow. :carrot: |
It's wednesday! That day of the week that just screams "OMG, this week is long, you're only halfway there!" :)
I hope everyone is doing well! I am still struggling with exercise, boy I hate it! Isn't it supposed to start feeling good at some point? Some wonderful gosh darn thing full of chemicals that make me bonkers happy and that make my brain light up and sigh? Well, goshy ding dang - that hasn't happened yet! The only thing I am experiencing is a chaffed belly fat flap. :) Oh well, at least I entertain the other exercise/joggers/walkers with my weird wobbly bits when I walk. Anyway - have a good day everyone! |
Lostbutstilltrying I actually lol'd at you comment :D. I completely understand where you are at. I go through fazes of loving the workout :carrot:(only after I have done it), and having no motivation in the slightest to go exercise:(. Currently I am at the latter, at the beginning of the year I was going 3-4 times a week to the gym, but then I was living on my own. Now that I am back with my mum, even though I am still free go to most days, The gym is also a lot closer than the last (end of my street), No motivation at all!:dizzy: I just wish I loved going! I am hoping that come the end of October when the dark nights settle in, and once I have caught up on the last few seasons of Heartland lol, I will pay to go to the night time classes at the gym and get moving again. :carrot:
About me Well Girls I did a very very brave thing the other day, I signed up to do Total Warrior next September. It is a big like a Tough Mudder Race :o I am terrified! It is a 12k assault course (for those of us who aren't French or from another Euro country lol, that's about 7.45 miles). A friend of mine did it just last week and she loved it! decided to introduce it into our own group of friends. Considering I am hoping to of lost 3 and a half stone this year, I could potentially be 6 stone lighter from where I started to before taking part. It would be a huge achievement for me and I better start timing how long it takes me to walk 12k first of all. |
Went to a meeting last night where they had lots of pizza including dessert ones. I only had one piece of veggie and didn't take leftovers home with me. That's a big win for me.
|
Hi all, I just wanted to join this thread. I started Take Shape for Life in June and also started to come back to these boards for the awesome community support. I'm down about 50 lbs on TSFL and still have a long way to go.
|
Hello everyone :)
I just wanted to join in. I've always been bigger than everyone around me and it's never bothered me but the other day I realized that I get winded walking from one end of the house to the other. This is the biggest I've ever been (346) and I just want to be able to keep up with my daughter (she's 19months old and very active). I believe my biggest problem is my laziness so I've started walking the mall in the morning with my daughter in her stroller. I'm also using a calorie counter so I can visually see what my weakest areas are in food. Reading everyone's stories is making me realize that this journey is going to more of a marathon than a sprint. I really hope I can do it. |
@SweetEpiphany Hi! welcome welcome! it's good to see more new faces on the boards lately, I am still pretty early in my journey to and it feels less lonely to know I am not the only one out there! I can't wait to hear more about your journey, it seems excellent already!
@RubyLeprechaun Hi! hello! welcome! I think a marathon rather than a sprint is a good way to describe it and I can tell you from past experience that our kids love it when we can plan with them rather than just watching and that getting healthier goes a long way to helping that happen. And not only that, if I could do it over, I wish that I had not taught my child my bad eating and exercise habits - because now we are all struggling to change. Lose weight and gain fitness because it is what you want and a change you are ready for, but kids are always a great motivation |
I'm off to take up some pants. It's always terrifying to cut away fabric knowing I can't add any more to it.
|
Hi All
Hubby issues almost sorted - making him suffer for it big time.... feeding him everything he does not really like which is still good for us.. he he its also food that my girls and I like so win win for us He runs away to work conference next week so we have just the girls and I at home for the week and loads of things to do with not much time to enjoy it Sctosgirl: wow you are brave! signing up for that I would not have the bravado to do it... Dance for other people sure warrior course not me... Lostbutstiltrying: better late then never here is to changing and helping the family change Rubyleprechaun: walking one end of the house to the other will get easier and next thing you know you will be walking there and back with ease! |
Trying to get back on track!
Hey everyone! I am new here. My starting weight was 347. My current weight is 342. I am having a hard time getting on track. I have the habit of when I am driving to work, 45min to an hour drive, I like to have something to snack on. I never know a good choice so I end up with chips or popcorn. I have trouble with the willpower to not stop and buy something as well. Any helpful suggestions?
|
Thank you lostbutstilltrying and karencat for the support. I really am trying this time. I felt so guilty about skipping my morning walk that I took an afternoon one at a longer track. Then I lost my daughter's shoe and had to walk another half of it! Karma :)
Ladypocketz: I know its probably boring but I've been buying fruits and veggies and bagging them up. That way on my way to work I can just grab them and go. Tonight I had cucumber slices, red pepper slices and green grapes. I'm always running late so it's just easier for me to set them up before hand. |
I am trying celery sticks today. I will let you know how that goes!
|
@CatherineM, I misread what you said at first and I thought you wrote that you were "off to take off your pants" XD
@Karencat - whatever will you do kicking it around the house solo for a week? ;) have a fun time! @LadyPocketz welcome! Ruby has the right way of it, veg and fruit are a good snack. I like to focus on what I can put in rather than what I can't have and I challenge myself to eat at least 5 servings a day and one of each color (red/orange, yellow/white, green, blue/purple) to get lots of vitamins. Good luck! @RubyLeprechaun good job on your walk (and extra) |
So the celery worked ok. I kind of got sick of the flavor so I will have to try something that I like the flavor of better. I think I might try grapes and cucumbers. I really like grape tomatoes so maybe I will try some of then too. I have done really good with my water today. I am at 9 cups of water! Thank you ladies for the suggestions. Now if I can get myself to actually prepare stuff for myself I will be set.
|
Week one and I lost 3 pounds! It's nice to have actual confirmation that I'm doing the right thing. Now to work on my water consumption. Does Mio type things have calories? I tried lemon water and I don't like the taste.
|
@Ruby congrats on your loss! I would say check out the aisle in the store the next time you're there - look at mio or some of the other ones, I don't really know about calories for those. You could also try spa waters - slicing up various fruits, herbs and veggies (not lemon if you don't like that) and putting them in your water container, I like those as well, especially ones with cucumber plus the have some vitamins.
|
Hubby was at a meeting this weekend. I always get caught up on my housework. He's only called me twice to remind me that I have a writing deadline.
