Hello Fellow 300+ Determined members
I am writing to you today to hope that I can at least motivate ONE member. This small community has become rather quiet over the last little while, and I hope that it is not because people have fallen off the wagon, and it has been because people have been doing so well, that they have simply forgotten to come back and tell us how awesome they are doing.
I am writing today after listening to some fellow work colleagues who started slimming world again after many months. They were doing great all last week until they went out and got very drunk and ate whatever they wanted. They came into work on Monday sad that they had been soo good, yet they never lost any weight due to the night out. They were again great all week, candy and cakes were passed around at work and they were strong enough to say no! they weighed in on Thursday and lost 3lbs each! yay! Then to celebrate they had a typical deepfried British fish and chips which is roughly the same calories as a MacDonalds. To celebrate???
I tell you this because I used to self sabotage as well, when I was doing well I would "treat" myself to some chocolate at the weekend. Why do we use this word treat? surely it cannot be a treat, if all it ever does is bring sadness on the scales? But what if we added this "treat" into our daily calories and there was plenty of space for it. Then its not a treat! it is simply part of our daily intake.
If you are one of these people who MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE! then why not make space for maybe a low calorie hot chocolate at night after dinner. Maybe allow the calories to have chocolate spread on crackers or toast. If you made space for it, you are not cheating! If you pretend it does not affect your daily intake, and do not include it. Then all you are doing is lying to yourself, which brings sadness to the scales.
Everyday I learn something new about my body, something that no dietitian or doctor can know about me. One of those things is that If I have the left over calories to have a small chocolate bar with my lunch, or a hot chocolate after dinner to curb my cravings. I WILL STILL LOSE WEIGHT!
Chocolate is not a Syn, a Treat, or anything else. It is just a food that I enjoy every now and then, as long as I have the calories for it.
Love goes out to you all....
Caireen
