Default One Arm Bigger Than The Other

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone else as this problem. It's not just my arms it's my leg also. My right arm at the top is 3 inches bigger than my left!! It is so noticeable as well, my right leg is only 1 inch bigger than the left and not so noticeable. But i can't wear anything short sleeved at all because of this. The tank top thread got me thinking about this and i was just wondering if anyone else as this problem. 3 inches is such a lot and it is so so noticeable and it embarrasses me a lot. It's the bingo wing part of my arm, i notice it a lot more now i am doing my weights. I really hate it! So does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't noticed this, but my arms are both really floppy and hard to measure.

I would guess that this is one of those things that we see about ourselves that other people would never notice. I would also guess that they will even out as you lose.

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for the reply, i am thinking that this must only be a me thing
I never used to notice it at all when i was smaller, so i guess when i hit a certain weight that the right arm just got bigger than the left. As strange as it is i am sure like you said, it will even itself out as the weight comes off. I'm hoping so anyway

Thank you, Sam xxx

BuffyInSunnydale at my highest I had one leg (ankle & calf) noticeably bigger than the other. So much so that I did not wear dresses or shorts. As I lost weight they evened out a bit but the one leg still measures about .5 inches larger than the other. I have also lost a half size in shoes.

One side is always larger than the other for all body parts unfortunately...

But I can tell you from having lymphedema in one arm... no one notices but you unless it is like 5+ inches difference. Hate to say it but we judge ourselves way more than we should.

Yes i think that you are all right, we do judge ourselves way too much. We notice things that others wouldn't because we (Well me) will always find fault with our bodies. Thank you for the replies

Hi Buffy!

I agree we are much harder on ourselves then we should be.

I have one breast larger then the other. People have commented. I just embarrass them in a fun way if they mention it. As I lose weight everything stays the same just a smaller version.

Let's all start being more kind to ourselves.

I have the very same problem. My right arm is quite a bit bigger than my left. I remember a time a while back when I was sleeping almost exclusively on my right side and I still think that might have had something to do with it. I have noticed my legs are the same way but are not as noticeable. Anyway, I did not want you to think that you were alone in this.

Hi Ubee & Pjvw,

I also sleep on my right side, i can't sleep on the left. Hmmm maybe it does have something to do with that, not sure. I always remember though that when i was smaller i never noticed it at all. I am thinking maybe i reached a certain weight and my right arm just put more weight on than the left. Because surely i would have noticed it before when i was smaller. I also have one boob bigger than the other and even when i was smaller that was the same. I agree with you 100% Ubee, let's all start being more kind to ourselves. Great attitude to have that and i'm definitely going to take that advice

Sam, I'm glad you are taking my advice. I think if we all stop and look at what we have been through in life we will realize that we are worthy. We are worthy of love, happiness, respect,... Please feel free to add more.

You stopped smoking. That is amazing. I'm sure you've been through alot more.

We all deserve to be healthy and accept our bodies.

You're not alone. I was checking out my "batwing" progress last night and realized with horror that while my left arm is toning up and coming along nicely, my right still hangs fully, and much more loosely than the left. I wondered same as you about concentrating more training on my right arm, which is what brought me to this thread.

I have large thighs and one is bigger then the other when measured by about 2 inches - my sister gives me grief over this as she is a plus sized pear ... hates that about herself - she also has one butt cheek bigger then the other (It sticks out to the side more!)

have a giggle at this... its supposed to make you smirk at least -my favourite weight joke
I'm a plus sized hour glass - most people have an hour glass figure - well if they have an hour glass figure - I must have a 3 hour glass figure !

(3times bigger then normal -not 3 sizes) looking forward to the day when its only a 2 hour glass ... and then I will look forward to the day when its only 1

But back on track - your not alone though mines legs not arms- even when I was smaller I had 1 thigh bigger then the other - and I have one leg that is 1 cm longer then the other too

Congrats on stopping smoking
