When Should You Eat??? Before OR After a workout?

  • I was wondering When should you eat? Before or After a workout?

  • Personally I cannot eat much before a workout - maybe something light.
  • If I eat before I workout, I'm dry heaving about halfway through.
  • For me, it s important to eat a good carb & protein snack about 2 hours before working out. This gives me energy for the workout w/o being too close to make me sick during.

    I work out in the evenings, so I eat dinner as soon as I can after.
  • I've read that one should have carbs before, and protein after if you are weight lifting. The carbs give energy that is utilized during the workout. The protein helps with healing and building muscle afterwards. Carbs before-a banana, or just about any fruit, is good for this. Usually I would use a protein shake after. Wal Mart sells cheap protein powder in varying flavors. If you don't have extra cash for p-powder, egg whites are cheap and work just fine.
