looking for buddies
The last time I weight in I was at 330 and that was two months ago.. I've moved in with my boyfriend stopped working just stay home and help him out at his job.. I'm not familiar of the area yet and ready won't go walking around his block so cutting down on eating is what I'm starting by.. When we first started dating i would work out everyday I was down at 295 and now I'm up again.

Hi! I am in need of a buddy too. I currently weigh 325. I have always had trouble with my weight but really want to get it under control this time around. I have lost about 55 pounds this year but it has been just here and there without being very consistent. I'm currently just watching what I am eating and plan to start exercising. My current goal is to be able to lose an additional 45 pounds by new years so that I would have lost 100 pounds this year.

Hi everyone .. if you want some extra support and a challenge join us for the Christmas Challenge :) We would love to have you jump on in .. I do tend to babble a lot .. but hopefully you will be just as chatty .. or if you like you can just PM if you want to keep it a little more subdued :) Im getting married in just over 3 months, so have set a challenge for myself to lose 50 pounds (in what was about 16 weeks I think when we started) .. hopefully hitting 2-town this week .. but will be happy with whatever :)
Im mainly watching what I eat, counting calories ... and I challenge myself every week to get exercising more than once ... still working on that .. but its a new week tomorrow so will challenge it again :) Hope to see some of you on our challenge ... hugs and well done to all of you for taking the first step on the journey to a new you .. even though I think the old you is pretty fine too :) :hug: |

How was your day today? I knew I was going to gain a little weight because of the pizza, but back on track today... wanted to work out today but was tired...dogs got me up at 2AM and 4AM to go outside for the bathroom ... that stinks since its hard to get back to sleep!

Had a late start to the day, went to bed at 4am so didnt get up til mid-morning, so a bit off my eating today obviously. Did manage to get alot of work done and made myself a lovely healthy dinner and HUGE fruit salad for the next few days :) Chillaxing day tomorrow, busy Thursday, then relax Friday ... good week :) |

I'm crashing this party if nobody minds! I made some a bowl of delicious bruschetta toppings the other day and it's killing the snack urges! I think it has to do with the insane amount of onion and garlic I used. Ha! I suppose if it does the trick, I'm okay with it! Even though those in my breath proximity might disagree.

I'm glad that this group is so enthusiastic. I'm trying day by day. I'm going through a really hard time right now, and honestly, weight loss is the last thing I'm concerned with even though I know that I need to be.
I haven't done great this morning. I had a lean pocket for lunch, and so far I've had about 3 glasses of water. For dinner I'm planning on grilling up some chicken, and roasting some veggies. At least dinner will be okay. |

BIGJOE - What is SF Pudding?? Great plan for your day :) BURG - What are the toppings you have as snacks? LOSTINSTATICX - I know what you mean about the breakfast .. Im usually useless at that .. still learning :) I tend to keep a water bottle with me at all times, 750ml at a time, I find I drink more water that way than having a glass here and there. Dinner sounds lovely :) --------------- Started day well (for a change), got my meals planned .. still need to work on having the snacks but will give it a go :) B - Weetbix, half banana, glass OJ S - Almonds L - Protein Shake S - Fruit D - boneless/skinless chicken thigh, carrots, beans, capsicum & a potato. S - Fruit Salad. So Ive started well so far .. feeling full .. my biggest thing other than breakfast is eating the snacks ... I just never feel that hungry. Weather here is terrible (we are getting gale warnings as I am watching the news) so no plan to leave the house .. instead I will either try to "Disco with Richard Simmons" or "Walk Away the Pounds" ... want to try to do 2 miles today as I managed the 1 mile last week :) |
Nightkatt: I just mix together a big bowl of diced tomato, onion, and garlic and throw in a little balsamic and some basil for extra flavor! It gives me a nice little kick in the taste buds to hold me over :)

Good job today, everyone.
For dinner I ended up doing a stir fry, grilled chicken, asparagus, bell peppers, and zucchini. It turned out okay. Unfortunately, out of habit I drank entirely too much iced tea. I had it left over from the weekend, and I gave in. Tomorrow I'm going to try and start off with a good breakfast, and go from there. I also plan on drinking nothing but water for the next week. Liquid calories are definitely my weakness. Juice, iced tea, and especially soda. If I had my choice, I would choose a nice pepsi over food any day. I have to get out of that. I think I'm going to start a blog, and actually attempt to keep up with it. I think this would be good for me not only to keep myself on track, but to let out my frustrations. Hoping that tomorrow is going to be a better day. |
Humm . I look at what I had planned mealwise today and doh .. nope .. started off well lol .. breakfast & snack 1 was right ... but instead of protein shake I had a bowl of popcorn ... didnt have any afternoon snack .. and didnt end up wanting to cook for one tonight .. so had cereal again (but more than I had for breakfast). Still to have my fruit salad, which I will probably have with my hunny when he gets home ... but otherwise .. umm .. nope .. water no prob .. and I added in a cup of OJ. So today was all about fibre .. no protein though .. but will get it right tomorrow :)
Thanks BigJoe for SF meaning lol .. still learning all the shorthand :) Burg - sounds lovely .. my hunny would love it I think .. so would most of my friends .. I cant have it as I am allergic to tomatoes and mushrooms .. but that is probably why Italy was the only place in Europe I put on weight cos I lived on Carbonara & Alfredo lol .. LOST - that sounds like the sort of dinner I usually make .. only hold the gusgus (asparagus) .. instead I include broccoli, carrot & onion .. as well as the bell peppers and courgette (zucchini) .. and a little bok choy if I have it :) Is Iced Tea not a sugar free drink then??? I drink a lot of green tea (mainly the one with strawberry in it) .. no calories and lovely hot or cold. I dont drink any soda drinks as I react to the gasses (cant burp lol) .. but I do have a glass of orange juice with pulp almost every day :) I am sort of using the journal on the Calorie Counter site ... been 4 weeks and only written twice lol .. but both times I wanted to write down my thoughts about the beginning .. and then again the progress .. so I think its a great idea ... so is posting on here .. I think it makes you more accountable for your choices :) Good Luck! |

Checking in late- Took a vacation day from work... Had a doctors appt this morning blood pressure is good under med... blood test done to check something w/ the liver ( read high last time) went and renewed my drivers license.... busy morning.. First please take the time to remember the 9/11 victims.. I live in Colorado, but was born and raised in NYC... I still remember I was watching the news about the first plane hitting the bldg. then I saw the second plan hit the second tower.... boy it hit me... and it still does... NYC wont be the same .. As far as diet lets see: ( how are u doing today)? B- Just coffee ( been running around this morning) L- EAS Protein drink S- 1/2 cup salad- 5 crackers wheat D- big Mac. ( no bread ). S- apple sauce |

nightkatt- i usually only make my stir fry with bell peppers, onions and corn. I wanted to mix things up a little bit, and i found out that i actually prefer it my old way. i love all kinds of veggies though, so i guess i'm just going to have to look for some new tasty recipes. the iced tea that i like to drink does have both calories and sugars. :( i'm going to have to start trying some no calorie ones, or just flat out stick to water. soda is a rough spot for me. it's a mixture of the carbonation and sweetness that has me drawn to it. i figure if i can stick to water, and seltzer water for my bubbles then i should be okay. today i didn't do spectacular, fat was a little bit high, but i'm within my calories, and my protein was pretty good. breakfast - yogurt, water snack- lean pocket (i have to get away from these) * lunch- my mom and i went to a place called chipotle, and i got a burrito bowl. (it had brown rice, black beans, grilled chicken, mild tomato salsa, cheese and sour cream) the cheese and sour cream aren't the healthiest, but the meal overall is a lot healthier than a lot of other takeout/restaurant foods. it's decently healthy. it was difficult not to order a coke with my lunch, however, i took my own water bottle with me and i stuck to it. dinner- stouffers veggie lasagna snack- i have just enough room for a frozen greek yogurt cup. not the most nutritious day ever, but it's better than i've been doing, so i'm okay with it. how is everybody else doing? |

Good day today so far...but I'm off to a friends birthday tonight! Thankfully I'm on what I like to call the "Will I do it when I'm healthy?" diet...and you better believe when I'm healthy I will still be celebrating with (possibly a few too many) drinks. So that's my way of not feeling guilty about that! :lol: I also cut back a bit today to split the difference at least a little. Hope you're all having great days, too! |

I had one of my better days food-wise. It was a busy morning for me too .. well sort of lol .. I offered my hair as a model for a trainee so had to go into the city for that ... then I had to do some more wedding organising ... its all the budgeting that means Im zapping around everywhere lol .. but as I said .. one of my better food days when it comes to hitting more of the meals ...
B - Protein Shake .. then a Grande Trim Latte half strength at Starbucks S - forgot to take my almonds in with me .. but I had a sugar free lolly so that my blood sugar didnt drop too far L - Regular Chicken Caesar Pita from Pita Pit ... changed the cheese from chedder/swiss to Feta (lots lower in calories), Honey Mustard sauce instead of Aioli Lite (half the calories) .... so good choices there :) S - ummm .. nope .. missed this one too lol. D - hunny brought home fish & chips .. so I took the crumbs off my fish and only had 10 chips. Will be having some fruit salad soon. S - Green Tea with Strawberry before bed :) First time in about 3 weeks I hit my daily fat target ... the only one I am missing regularly is the potassium .. but otherwise doing great with my calories ... BUT .. Im still about 350 under my daily intake :) Planning tomorrows meals now :) |

Yeah .. new style but same colour .. just the light hitting it .. keep forgetting its so red lol .. usually I dye it darker to hide the red but have been leaving my hair all year :) You reckon it looks diff?? I think I must have lost some of my loss in my face .. cos its not really noticeable anywhere else lol .. but I will hold this pic as my 4 week one .. see what the 8 week one looks like when I redo the rest of my body shots too .. hate doing pics .. but its a real good way to "keep it real!"

How is everyone doing today? I hope you're having a good, healthy and happy day. Breakfast- yogurt, water Lunch- 4 oz of turkey, on Arnold's flat bread, with mustard. Snack- string cheese Dinner- Lean cuisine of chicken in a mesquite bbq sauce, with ranch redskin mashed potatoes. I'm actually very low on calories today. My fat, carbs and protein are pretty good, but I'm still feeling hungry. I'm thinking I'll have a snack tonight of a protein shake, and an apple. I really need to add exercise to my plan. It's difficult to get started when you're already experiencing severe back/leg/foot pain. I have to though. Just a matter of figuring out what I can do. |

Deana509 - hello and welcome! looking forward to having you join this group. :) I've started off the day well. This weekend will be a test for me. The weekend is what usually really throws me off, and I end up messing up for weeks. I'm just gonna do what I'm doing and keep going strong. My fiancee got me an early birthday present -- a bike! I'm so excited to go riding with him this weekend. I haven't been on a real, non stationary bike in so many years so I'm a little bit, or rather a lot a bit nervous. Hoping it won't take too long for me to get the hang of it again. Here's my plan for the day: Breakfast: 8oz orange juice, a yogurt, and a cup of pineapple. ( until a couple months ago, you couldn't get me to touch pineapple. I don't know what happened but I love it now.) Snack: string cheese, an apple and a serving of walnuts Lunch: turkey sandwich on Arnold's flat bread and mustard Snack: ? Dinner: ? I will fill the rest in when I figure it out! Hope everyone is having a great day! 3 more days until my decided monthly weigh in so I'm being extra mindful right now. Had some delicious tomato soup for lunch today....me and my tomatoes! Of course, what is tomato soup without a grilled cheese? I think that is my new treat meal, even though the sandwich itself only comes to 125 cals (about 150 if you include the ketchup....because, tomatoes!) :D. Going to make some chicken with mushrooms and mashed potatoes for dinner! I daresay I'm starting to get the hang of this whole cooking thing :lol: |

BigJoe - Im with Lost .. a pound is a pound :) Besides slow and steady is always a good thing :) Deana - Yay for Day 1 :) Just reading it sounded like such a positive thing :) Lost - Wonderful about the bike! I used to love riding it .. unfortunately due to my balance going off and dizzy spells Im not allowed to ride a non-static one anymore in case of accidents .. but hopefully that will change when I lose more weight .. well .. thats that thought anyway lol. I think weekends are the hardest for a lot of people really .. I know its the same for me too. When is your birthday?? I know what you mean about the back pain .. my legs arent so bad other than my ankles (as they have each been broken a few times). I have a couple of fitness discs depending on how I am feeling on the day I do the exercise .. Disco with Richard Simmons when I am having a low pain day (love dancing lol), and then Walk Away the Pounds on a day Im feeling a bit sore. At the moment I am just trying to incorporate more movement in my days rather than a set exercise regime .. keep it up :) Burg - Good luck on your weigh in ... you are gonna turn red with all those tomatoes lol .. I would prob turn orange cos I have so many carrots lol. Yay on the cooking thing too :) Wasnt a good food day yesterday .. I am just losing interest in food .. having to think of it all the time is just putting me off it .... but Im not giving up .. just thinking of it as a bump in the road :) I had a protein shake for breakfast .. but then nothing else all day until dinner time ... I made a lovely meal for us with chicken, potato, carrot, beans, broccoli in a lite cream honey mustard sauce ... a new recipe for me to try ... we had a movie night last night so I popped some popcorn which I quite enjoyed :) Still missed my calories by about 4-500 ... but felt very full. Todays plan is going to be a good one ... Weigh in day for me is Monday .. but had a peek yesterday and its looking good so far :) Spending the day doing some more wedding shopping .. need to find some shoes, getting my ring (yay!), buying the bits I need to make our invitations ... and we are having lunch out too .. so have a sort of plan in mind food wise today .. B - Chai Latte with a muffin (will be a late breakfast ..) L - Pita Pit Chicken Caesar S - Fruit (Oranges probably .. maybe a couple of Strawberries) D - Same as last night (Chicken & Veg in Honey Mustard) S - Green Tea with Strawberries. Happy B'day- Lost - Nightkatt - Weekends are hard meals days for me ..that's because wife and I are home....I tend to eat a little different then she does , but sometimes I will eat out of the zone because she cooks and I try to find a balance.... During the week I just tend to eat what I want.. there are days I struggle at work because of pot lucks etc,,,, It I don't participate I am called anti-social...I choose not to participate because it keeps me away from temptation. Burg = Good luck on the weight in... for me I have to weight in daily- It just a thing I done forever and works for me.... Todays meal: b- Coffee L- 1 Jamaican patty s- 1 cup of kettle corn d- chicken fried steak/ potato soup/ green beens/ Ice teas raspberry ( I was hungry due to working in the garage all day) |
bigjoe - I am the exact opposite of that! If I weigh in daily I get really frustrated with myself even though I know the scale isn't always indicative of exactly what's happening. Ideally, I wouldn't be weighing at all but I know I need to check in every now and then....and I must admit curiosity is starting to get the better of me! 2 more days!

Good morning all, sorry for the late posting.
NightKatt- my birthday is at the end of October. However, my fiancée figured because the weather was getting nice and he knows I want to get in shape he decided to get one for me now. We didn't get around to riding yesterday. :( we found two baby kittens outside of my house in the bushes and we took the day to take care of them. I'm hoping we will get to go today. I'm sorry you're unable to ride a non-stationary bike. :( Hoping one day that will change. It's great that you can get some exercise in though :) Bigjoe- thank you for the birthday wishes :) Yesterday wasn't perfect. We wound up getting pizza for dinner. I didn't overdo it but I felt gross after eating. Today I'm going to get back on track so I don't mess myself up completely. One accomplishment though, is that I didn't give in to soda although I wanted to very badly. I stuck with my water and will continue to do so. I'm not looking forward to my weigh in on Monday. (Forgive me any gentlemen reading this) but, it's that TOM, and I'm bloated and just don't want to care. I usually give in really bad when I feel this way so I'm trying so hard not to. I know the scale is going to be affected :( but at least I know that it's temporary. Hopefully that'll mean an even bigger loss the following week. :) Here is my plan for today : Breakfast: eggs, one piece of pork roll, and a protein shake Snack: an apple and string cheese. Lunch: ? Snack: ? Dinner: ? Here's to a better day than yesterday, and hopefully some good bike riding. How is everybody enjoying their weekend? |

b- Coffee Going to be a busy day- with the floodings in Colorado heard water was headed our way.. Going to get some bottle drinking water and other small things ... I should be fine since I live away from the river but it may effect stores/ residents in town and near the river... Burg - Yea its just a thing I have I knew my weight was going to go up because of the raspberry ice tea and large dinner... normally I just drink water and I have been keep my food intake to about 5-6 oz.... |

BIG JOE - I too sneak in a peek each day .. I try to not do it .. but my hunny does it and comments all the time so it makes me wonder what mine is doing lol .. I had planned not to jump on all weekend so I could be surprised today for my weigh in .. but that didnt work lol. .. Im lucky for food at home as my hunny eats pretty much what I do .. although yesterday I had a treat of cheese on crumpets which I havent had for months .. but it meant my lunch was almost what I have been having most days for the day! lol .. fortunately I have been having bad calorie days anyway missing my cal intake on average by about 600 cal .. so still had room for dinner .. and I made my hunny French Toasted Cheese Sandwiches (When you make french toast after you cook them you put cheese on one half then put the other slice of toast on top and heat it through .. wayyyyy too many cal for me lol). He gets more frustrated with his weight than me .. even though he is like 80 pounds less than me lol ... he has been playing with the same 5kg since I restarted ... Hope you stay safe with the floods .. scary .. we just get earthquakes (at least recently lol). BURG - Im getting excited for you :) Cant wait to see what your results are .. so you dont weigh in weekly then? Are you on a plan or anything or just making healthy choices? LOST - PIZZAA!!! ooooh .. missing and jealous lol .. but its interesting your reaction to it .. chances are I will be the same, its that guilty pleasure when you're having it .. but then later the guilt builds and the pleasure goes ... you question if it was worth the treat .. but then you go and do it again in a different way later lol .. I have learnt to enjoy the treat, take on board how I feel and see if I can adapt it to reduce the after-guilt. I know what you mean about TOM .. I had him for a week and dreaded my weigh in as I have NEVER lost weight with him hanging round .. but I did!! A little admittedly .. but I didnt care .. I was just happy I didnt go up .. and it was the hardest week for me in regards to my chocolate .. its usually when I would consume a block a day so OMG .. the counters in the supermarkets with all those chocolate bars made me want to scream lol .. drooled sooooo much ... keep your chin up and just acknowledge the result and start the new week ready to give TOM a kick in the pants :) So weigh in today ... down 3.5 pounds! Happy with that result .. need to stick to around that for the next 12 weeks for my wedding to hit my wedding target .. but Im allowing a little leeway in there ... need to order my dress next month so its made in time and gets to NZ so I can get the alterations done (which I am sure will be needed). B - Starbucks Trim Latte Grande S - Almonds L - Banana, Almonds S - ? D - ? S - ? Humm .. gonna be another one of those food days when Im not gonna hit my calorie intake .. but I just havent got an appetite now that TOM is gone ... hopefully when I get busier I will want to eat a bit more :) |
Nightkatt - I think the closest thing to a plan for me is counting calories...but without the counting. So, I guess I'll call it approximating calories! I'm trying to do things with as few numbers as possible (hence the monthly weigh-in) because, with me, the second my numbers aren't exactly what they should be is when I start to spin out. This is what I get for being a mathy person :lol:
