Actually Happy

I am actually happy for a change. Since starting Atkins in late January/early feb(I really don't remember) I have lost 30lbs and it has started to have an effect on my overall mood. I have been happier and I feel happier every time I see the numbers on the scale go down.

I think that the biggest thing that is perking me up is I am starting to feel the weight loss. I am not sure if anyone else has had this feeling, but when you weigh over 400lbs losing 10-15lbs just doesn't feel like anything. Now however I am starting to feel smaller, my clothes are fitting better and that mental feeling of blah over my weight is starting to lift. I am not saying that my depression is caused by my weight, if it was only that my life would be a lot easier, but I just feel like I am finally making progress and that feel goods.

This is the first time in my life that I feel like I can actually lose the weight and it feels good. Just needed to share that.:D

Yay Raven! Let me tell you, the beginning is the hardest! It takes forever to move down one clothing size. But once you get going, it will be faster each time!

Yay! I also low carb and I think it is a life saver for me. I really cannot lose any other way. I know what you mean about starting to feel the difference in your body. I think I started feeling that way at around 20 pounds down, like all of the sudden my bras that I had been overflowing and having to struggle to fasten fit me just right and, ahhhh what a relief to just feel like it's working!

I do also think that Atkins is good for one's mood independent of weight loss. It can be downright euphoric!

Anyhow... I wish you luck on your journey! :carrot:

I 100% get it. When you weigh a lot 10 pounds feels like a drop in a bucket.

I've lost 12 pounds so far, and even though I fought really freakin' hard to lose those 12 pounds there's no way I'd ever tell anyone because I'd be embarrassed. In my head I imagine someone saying "12lbs? So, what? You stopped eating for a day or something?" The people in my head are cruel.

Realistically it has taken me a long time to figure out what type of food and how many calories my insulin resistant body needs to begin to lose weight. I wish it was as simple as calories in, calories out.

Anyway, I try to remind myself each day that I have lost weight, which is AMAZING. Those 12lbs will turn in to 15, then 20, then 25, etc...

I would be shouting "I lost 30lbs!" from the rooftops, as should you! :) What a great accomplishment, and I am truly happy for you that you're beginning to notice the changes in your body and mind. Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I feel exactly the same way. And with that attitude you are going to rock this!

If it feels good to lose weight, then you've won the battle imo.

That is fantastic! When I started this I thought I would need to lose tons to feel a difference and it is amazing how even a few pounds can make a change.
