I'm tall and big boned, so to drop a size I need to lose anywhere from 30-40 lbs to be comfortable in a size smaller without the pants cutting into my waist.
I can't remember from previous WL other then I started at a 5x and ended up at a 16. I went from 330 to 180 at 5'4".
This time I started at a 26 bottom and 3x tops or 4 depending. My jeans are very loose and need a belt. I can wear my tops but they are longer and more loose. I went from 315 to 276 so far.
I have plenty of tops that were too tight I can wear for quite some time. My tops will simply get longer.
I'm Currently a 24, but not always tight in it (depends on the cut of pants) I have a couple of 22's around that fit well when I was in the 280's a couple of years ago.
I have a pair of 20 jeans from college I absolutely love, and have kept around in hopes to fit in again, I figure this will probably happen about the 250 mark.
My biggest problem in pants is I have Massive thighs (always have) I have usually had to go up a size occasionally not because of my waist, but because of my butt/thighs.
I went shopping this week and here is where I stand after a 117 pound loss:
Bra sizes - down from a 54 to a 42 H
Tops - Down from a 6X to anything from a 2X to a 4X in Canadian stores - Penningtons I can do a 2X, Additionelle I'm more comfortable in a 3X. I have a couple US tank tops I ordered online that are 5X and finally comfortable.
Pants - down from a 32W to a 28W. I can get the 26's on and do them up but they're mega tight still
Radiojane - holy how is that ever awesome! You have done so well, I am so impressed
I *think* I have noticed a change in how my clothes are fitting. I did buy a size 18 jeans from Additionelle a little while ago. They are pretty tight though! Won't be wearing them for a while Have you noticed that Additionelle has gotten more expensive lately? Most specifically jeans... I was sure I was able to pick up jeans for 60-80 bucks that were not on sale, now I see over 100 dollars on the price tags!! WTH?!?! I haven't been to Penningtons since they stopped carrying MXM stuff, I can't ever find anything I like there anymore. (Except my winter jacket) Oh man, I just realized, I should be able to wear my expensive Columbia jacket next winter I have had some people say that my clothes look loser, and that feels nice to hear
The last time I lost weight I started around 340 wearing tight 26/28's and after 60lbs lost I was wearing 22/24.
This time I started at 365 wearing tight 30/32 or 5x. I am only 20lbs down and still no size change for me though I am starting to notice that I can pull my 32 jeans down without unbuttoning them. And some of my shirts are getting big, but I prefer my clothes baggy to begin with.
I was really hoping I could get into some 26's I have by summer, but now I'm not so sure that is going to happen. A couple summers ago I bought 6 pair of shorts and capri's from Avenue for our vacation and they were all snug, but I still wore them. After that trip I ballooned up and haven't wore them since. So, I only wore them for a week. I can't afford new summer clothes so was hoping to wear them again this year.

Most of my pants don't need to be undone to be pulled off... always have been that way, now I am starting to notice that they are not far from falling off without being asked (I wear belts all the time! and on that note, I did find an old, never worn size 44 (mens) belt that I can use now (JUST) Pretty excited about that!) I think it's a whole lot harder to notice a change in clothes size when you already prefer to wear things baggy! Such a pain. Sure would be nice if it was standard... like every 20 lbs you go down a size. Like clockwork lol! Ah, yeah I will keep dreaming.

I haven't been able to shop at additionelle in more than a decade, so I never noticed the price jump. I am very unhappy that Penningtons doesn't have the MXM stuff, and I've noticed that they've drastically reduced what they have for clearance/sales. You used to be able to walk into one and find two or three racks of good sale stuff. Now it's much more hit and miss - although I did get a few really good deals when I was in there last week.
There are so many factors to consider when discussing size changes - body shape, body composition (fat to muscle ratio), height, how the manufacturer sizes the clothing, how you like the clothes to fit (loose or snug), etc.
I started out in a size 18. After 23 pounds lost, I wear mostly 14s. I also have a a pair of size 15 Levi jeans and a pair of size 13 Deb dress slacks that fit comfortably.
ETA: I just noticed this is posted in the 300+ Club. Sorry!
At 350 pounds, I was squeezing into a 28 jeans and a 30/32 top from Lane Bryant. Currently (187, but with 10-15 lbs of loose skin ALL on my stomach) I were a L/XL top and 13 jeans, but the jeans fit me perfect in the thighs but slightly too loose in the waist, a first for me!
I have found at higher weights,I would need to lose around 40 - 50 pounds to even consider going down a size, but from 250 - current, it was about 20 - 25 pounds per size. Now, I have less than 5 weeks til TT & BL (June 6th!) and I won't be clothes shopping (likely) til around August 1st (give time for healing and swelling to go down) for the new school year!
