  • Hello!
I am new-ish to the site and thought I would post a thread to see how everyone is doing.
I have alot of weight to shift and alot of getting healthy and fit to do - and have decided that now is the time for me to do it.
I cut out some junk food this past week just to see if it would make a difference and lost 2lbs - so tomorrow I am OFFICIALLY starting over and gonna try it for real.

Any words of wisdom or general kicks up the arse are welcomed to help keep me motivated!

    Hope everyone is well ...

    MrsF :-)
  • Welcome DoughDoh! Good luck on your weightloss mission. Just take it one day at a time, one pound at a time. Slowly but surely the time will pass and the pounds will be lost! Great job on cutting out some junk food and losing 2lbs! Every little change we make surely helps our efforts.

Post here often, the boards are great and have been instrumental in helping me towards my goal.

  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!
  • Congrats on the progress so far! The emotional and psychological change sometimes is harder than the actual weight loss so it's great that there's support here. Best wishes!

  • Welcome DoughDoh-
I know how hard it is to cut out Junk food Cuz I really love it! But it really made a Huge difference for me to get rid of things that were adding to my problems.
I think what works for me is to pay attention to what I pop in my mouth.
I am the type of eater that ate when happy, frustrated ,bored or mindlessly.
I really like the taste of food did not eat huge quantities just things that had too many calories!
I have always been successful when I buckled down and worked whatever program I was on...my problem is short attention span!
Now that I 'm older I do not have the luxury cuz I have gained more weight than I could ever imagined possible and it requires more effort on my part.
I have a shelf in my pantry surrounded by the forbidden foods that I can't have.
I am able to bake and cook meals for my family that I know that I will not be able to partake ...and I'm ok with that.
There is Ice Cream in the Freezer right next to my Ideal Protein Bars and it works for me . Self control and self monitoring for me is the key to being successful. I believe in living in the real world and there are people that can eat whatever they want and manage their weight unfortunately my body is no longer in that category and I will forever have to edit what I eat if I want to be a healthy weight and prevent any further damage to my body.
Wishing you the best of luck with weight loss

  • Roo2 Nice to hear from you.
You have basically just described me there when talking about yourself!
The thing for me was getting into the right mind set to start in my long overdue change of lifestyle.
I have now reached that point and am happy if not actually excited about the changes I will go through. I have my gym induction on Monday too so its pretty much al go here.
I do hope you keep posting ... We can keep each other going from the opposite sides of the globe!!
Take care speak soon ... MrsF :-)
  • Hey again folks!
Day 1 and 2 have seem to have gone quite good so far - drinking water when I feel the urge to munch - or pottering around when not at work.

Anyhows - I was just wondering - for those of you who have the little countdown bars at the bottom of your signature - how/where do I get one?

Hope everyone is well - MrsF
  • I think you have to wait a few weeks... they do this to prevent spammers. But when it's ready for you, you can find it in the "User CP" menu at the top of the page in the purple bar.
  • Thanks for getting back to me Underwater - I will keep an eye out for it in the UserCP
I see you have lost quite a bit of weight - congrats! Good luck with the rest of it - I have only just started really and hope I can do as well.
    MrsF
  • Oh - ok looks like the one I tried to set up last night actually worked haha!

    Fabby do!

Thanks again for your help and good luck with your journey!
Post often! I will keep reading, MrsF!
  • Best of luck! I'm new here as well. I see our starting and goal weights are similar. I know what you mean by looking forward to the changes we'll go through, I'm excited as well.
  • Hi DoughDoh!

I see you're from Glasgow- I used to live there!

Cutting out the junk was definitely the hardest for me. I'm slowly re-training myself to eat things like veggies and hummus instead of chips and things, and it's definitely making a difference.

Anyway, good luck with your weightloss!
  • Hi Fitdad2b - glad to hear your excited and enjoying your changes - I am high as a kite as thats 5lbs in under 2 weeks for me now ... hope it keeps coming off!

Ferris - New Z is a fair trek away from the big smoke - what made you move there?
I am basically stopping fridge picking and using myfitnesspal its great!

Hope everyone is well - keep up the good work!

    MrsF!
  • Doughdoh, look at your progress! How exciting that in a few pounds you'll be below 300!

I'm a Kiwi, but I went to university in Glasgow and for the three or so years I was there I really liked it. Then I moved back out here when a job opportunity came up. Where I live now is very Scottish so it's almost like being back there sometimes!

I hear so many good things about myfitnesspal! I'm using mynetdiary and I really can't live without it! It makes life so much easier to be able to account for things on a regular basis.
