Hi Everyone, I'm new to the 300 forum. I was apart of the 20's, but I became 30. lol I did lose 87lbs but then gained it back and then some. I am so ashamed I did. I have been eating healthier, but haven't gone to the gym yet. I just don't have any motivation to go. Some of the girls I work with want to take a zumba class...I want to do it, but being on the higher end of 300's I don't want to look like a fool. Has anyone else tried it?
I found some Zumba videos on youtube and tried them in my living room. They were fun, but I am not sure I could do a whole class yet. I look forward to getting to a point where exercise doesn't make me feel like I am about to die after 3-4 minutes.
I have done both Aqua Zumba and regular Zumba. I enjoy both a lot. The aqua Zumba was easier to get a whole workout in at first. With the regular Zumba I started with pushing myself to get through two songs, then I would sit out one, then the next time I would push three songs sit out one etc. It took about a month, and by then I was doing the whole thing. The next thing I worked on was putting more energy into, etc. You get the picture. It was rewarding the first time I made it all the way through and it really is a fun workout, but you have to work at it too.
I did Zumba when I weighed 350lbs. Here's what I did. No jumping! I modified most things to be lower impact, and so that I could make it through the entire class. Take some water, and don't be afraid to just stop. Maybe try a Zumba Gold class. Zumba Gold is really aimed at seniors but at my gym the Gold class is filled with heavier ladies who can't take the high impact. To me, Aqua Zumba was kind of boring. I loved Zumba, it got to the point where I didn't want to exercise if it wasn't a Zumba class. I really wish I could go to the classes near me. Oh, and if you are wearing just sneakers to the gym, take some painters tape and put it on the bottom of your shoes to keep them from sticking to the floor, it's much better on your knees trust me!
