Its nov. lets make this a big weight loss month!!

mountain walker 11-01-2012 09:11 AM

Heck yessss!

KateB 11-01-2012 09:15 AM

I am going to aim for a 12 pound loss this month. Also to stay on plan over Thanksgiving...although I am going to figure out a way to have half a slice of my Dad's home meade banana cream pie on Thanksgiving.

mnemosyne 11-01-2012 10:08 AM

Rosebud - new glasses! I need to make some room in the budget for those. I really do need to have an eye exam. My current glasses are from oh, 100 lbs ago, and when I am bending over to do stuff on the ground (tying my shoes, scooping/changing cat litter, whatever) I have to take them off because they just fall off. I have adjusted them a bit so they aren't as bad, but. I hope you get some you like. I had another pair of purple glasses but I don't like them as much. I want something cute, but it is so hard to tell what looks good on you when you can't see. Hah.

Still, I'm glad that you are so pleased with your new railing! Steps in winter are such an issue. I make a very careful point of shoveling/salting mine (there are about... 10 steps? up to my house) when we get the smallest amount of snow, but uhm, if I ever buy another house it will be flat to the street, for sure. Mowing the steep slope is a pain.

mountain walker - congrats on your wedding anniversary! It sounds like the highs made up for the lows, and I'm glad of that. I read in another thread that you had painted your nails and were coloring your hair for the first time in a while. I keep meaning to color mine but haven't got 'round to it yet. But I do paint my nails semi-regularly. The toenails all the time, fingernails occasionally, depending on other things. Fingernails never last, but today I'm rocking a nice glossy black for Halloween last night, and trick-or-treat today. I got some press-on nails with skulls but decided that I could not handle them so did not put them on.

dgramie - I know that frustration well. I lost down to maybe where I am now once before, about 6 years ago? And for a long time was caught up in the frustration of my regain. Sometimes I still imagine where I would be NOW if I could just somehow keep each weightloss and string it together. Nearly normal, really. But you didn't gain back all of it, which is the REALLY important part.

KateB - Wow! Am impressed with your plan to stay on track through Thanksgiving. I know I'll breakdown and have some treats, but I am going to try to walk three times a day to make up for it. My goal for November is actually just 5 lbs. Here's to success!

I have to dash home early from work tonight to clean up my plants that were killed by the snow. They are blocking the sidewalk up to the house and we have trick or treat tonight. I will dress up and may take a picture. Thus far I have not touched the candy or Halloween treats, but I think I'll budget myself about 200 calories for some candy tonight.

Good morning ladies;)
I havnt been on here for a bit for a couple reasons.. 1. i found another site that looked fun for a bit, but got bored with it pretty fast... 2. i got one heck of a stomach flu. couldnt eat for 4 days, but drank plenty of liquids. 3- i just got netflix and have spent all my time(even sick) watching Greys anatomy from season 1 episode 1 lol...
i lost a couple pounds sick, but im not gonna change my ticker, cause im starving now and eating a bit more than i should to play make up.. did that yesterday, and today will be my last day of that.
i hope everyone is doing okay. esp anyone affected by the storm.

Justwant2Bhealthy 11-01-2012 10:18 PM

MEM ~ yes, I got new glasses today and they are kinda funky looking. They are nothing like I have ever worn before. I was laughing my head off everytime I tried them on, but what the heck -- might as well have some fun with them. I had to get new ones as I couldn't see clearly with the old ones anymore.

Funny thing is, that my new ones will be purple once again. My last ones were lilac or light purple; and these will be a light to medium purple. They will be ready in about 2-3 weeks, they say; so we'll have to go back to pick them up. We had a good trip with some light blowing snow but the roads stayed clear for us there and back. Our entire yard has a blanket of snow on it and our front bushes look like they are covered with large cotton balls (my SIL's description).

This Thanksgiving, I made DH a pumpkin pie and myself a custard, but I also had a slice of pie for a snack. I ate lighter earlier on, so I was still on plan with my calories for that day too. I plan to do the same thing this year with Christmas -- make my 3 lower calorie treats, and stick with nuts, cheeses, olives, meats, and cracker type snacks like last year. That worked out good for us.

Tomorrow, we are going to our nearest city for my CT Scan. Hope we have clear roads for that trip too, and we may do a bit of shopping if the weather is OK. Hope you all have a successful November too. I know it is harder with so many holidays in a row, but maybe if you plan for a treat on that day, then just continue on next day, that will help keep you OP better. That's what I do anyways ... :D

dgramie 11-02-2012 07:05 AM

I made a decision yesterday that was really hard for me but I will be happier because I made it and less stressed. It was time to put myself and my needs above everyone elses.
I am doing great and today will be day 4 of eating right. I cant wait to see how many I can string together. When I do break the chain make sure I get right back on it.

mountain walker 11-02-2012 10:42 AM

Drammie good for you! I think part of the reason some of us are in this position is that we DON'T put ourselves first and there comes a point where we have to!
We had chinese for our celebratory meal yesterday and I stuck to chicken chop suey with no sides. My daughter bless her had baked a beautiful lemon drizzle cake and I had a small piece so as not to upset her. I had been so careful earlier in the day that I was still under my allowance by bedtime and hadn't felt in the slightest that I was missing out on anything.
Keep on keeping on ladies!!

MOUNTAIN ~ that is the very strategy that has helped me the most when eating out, and on holidays, etc. I have a lower calorie breakfast and lunch, and maybe a fruit for a snack, then that leaves me a large amount for that special dinner and/or dessert. Often, I am under as well and still have room for a small eveneing snack. With practice, this strategy can become a good new habit. :D

dGramie ~ I had to make that same decision too; I do make DH many things he loves, but I made them healthier for me. I do make the meals that I need to have to get healthier and I modify his just so slightly. There are some things that I just don't make or bake or buy anymore -- and DH is OK with that! :)

dgramie 11-04-2012 07:53 AM

Im on a roll finally. My head is on right and praying it will stay that way. I am not looking at where I was in lbs(lowest before I regained some)
but where I am now compared to where i was at my highest. I feel like its a more positive approach and it seems to be working.

Making a pot of beans today and cooking a head of cabbage for myself. I love it and never cook it. Time to take care of me!!

dgramie 11-05-2012 06:47 AM

I survived a weekend on plan. Its been a long time since I could say that.

mnemosyne 11-05-2012 11:02 AM

Some of these are individual replies to new folks posting bios!

Becca - I quite like Neil Gaiman. I was a hardcore Sandman fan, love the Beatles, am quite shy, wish I could be a writer, and love sparkly polishes (though not nail art. Have not got the patience).

Frances - hello! Hah. I love Christmas music, too. I get a new Christmas album almost every year, but my father has many more than I do. I think the Kingston Trio's Christmas album and Sufjan Stevens' collection are my favorite. I have also lost a significant amount of weight, then gained back most of it. Now I am losing again. I am sure you can do it.

Carrie - I know the feeling; the whole journey is so daunting. It's a matter of stringing together a bunch of positive steps with fewer negative steps, but that can be hard because the negative steps are so easy and the positive ones require more positive ones and take such time to put together. Good luck!

Melissa - wow, Egypt! That sounds like quite an adventure. Do you have family there, or are you just there for work? Were you there during the Arab spring? I am also looking forward to fitting into economy seats without extenders. Well, I think I might've gotten there now but I won't be traveling by air until next vacation, which is probably next summer. So I have to keep going. I would also like to be able to put down the tray table fully. Also: you shouldn't be repulsed by yourself, I don't think that that is mentally healthy!

Randy - so sorry about your wife. I am sure that you can get the weight off. I know the feeling, and the numbers seem so daunting, but once you get on the losing track you can get into the groove and watch things really move. I wouldn't rule out surgery now, though. See how you feel when you get there. It might be a useful tool - eventually - or maybe you'll manage without it. But having the option would be a great motivator, too, I think.

Jane - also sorry about your father. I know the feeling about wasted time. I lost so much weight a few years ago, then gained it back. Now, I'm losing again and have made it below the low weight from the last go-round. I just got out my winter coat from that last weight loss to take to the dry cleaners and was cleaning out the pockets. Found a receipt from 2006 in the pocket. If I could string together THAT loss and THIS one, I would be in Onederland now.

Claire - hello! You are adorable and I love your name. Perfect. However, I can't get behind your favorite quote right now. I have to NOT buy the shoes. My house (and closets!) are TINY. Must keep shopping instincts under control. Especially now that so many more shoes fit me. I am a bit jealous of how easy it is for me to lose weight

Rosebud - funky is fun. I prefer funky glasses. I hope your trip to the city for the CT scan went well! I went shopping this weekend, but did not buy anything. This was good for me as I found some things I loved and then reminded myself I am going to find EVEN MORE things I love as this goes on. So I can hold back.

MountainWalker - how sweet of your daughter to bake a cake, and smart of you to be careful so you could include cake in your day! I made it through Halloween week with flying colors. Was caught a bit off guard by the time change over the weekend, but used it to my advantage and got up early this morning to walk before work.

dgramie - congrats on the weekend on plan! That's such a great feeling. I didn't cook as I usually do over the weekend, but my mom made a quinoa casserole to go with Sunday dinner and I have the leftovers which will be lunch for this week. I love beans, though, and cooked cabbage. Need to replenish the veggies today. I might get some cabbage. I do like it.

That's a good feeling, isn't it?? I could not get off my lazy butt this weekend, and as a result, my house is a disaster. I did manage to go to the pool on Saturday, but I spent the rest of the weekend on the couch. I stayed within my calorie & carb range, but I have got to stop buying cheese. I think I ate ten babybels this weekend! One is not supposed to live on cheese!!!

Just got a lecture on losing too fast from some woman I hardly know (I work in the office of a shopping mall and she runs one of the stores. She's also one of those people who subsist on coffee & cigarettes, but she was sure keen to tell me how to diet! I'm medically supervised, I'm not anywhere close to starving, and oh yeah I HAVE 200 pounds to lose, not 20!

Justwant2Bhealthy 11-05-2012 10:04 PM

MEM ~ that's a great idea to give them all a personal post. Maybe that will encourage them to join our thread too.

:welcome: JANE ~ when we start out, we always lose more weight; over time, it will slow down a bit. Yes, cheese, peanut butter, and nuts can all be a problem if we don't watch it. Good for you sticking to your plan though ... :)

Food went well all weekend and today; made homemade soup for dinner with some wg biscuits. This is always nice on a cold November evening. Spent the day doing more cleaning for Christmas/winter -- today, it was our stove (inside and out) and my SS whistle kettle (nice & shiny again). ;)

DH's Alzheimers can really get on my nerves sometimes; and today was one of those days. Had some stress today, but managed not to overeat. So happy about that; used distraction to deal with it today and it worked.

Hope you all have a great OP week; and welcome to all the newbies in this forum too ...

dgramie 11-06-2012 07:36 AM

Just found out I have the day off from babysitting! I knew I would only have one kid but he is sick now:(
Now I have to decide what to do today. I know I want to clean some but I am so tempted to call a friend and run around but know I need to clean my house and get ready for putting up the tree in a few weeks.

I do not have any family here, I am here just to work. I wasn't here during the Arab Spring, I was working in China then, but I was hired during that March.

With the seatbelt thing, it also depends on the airline, because I flew Air France I think to go to Paris last year and was fine (well, you know all the way to the end, but no extender needed lol) but then both Air Canada and British Airways = no way.

The tray table, how I loathe thee.... that is also on my list... (so many travel related things since I fly so much)

I am hoping to not need an extender by May 1 (when I fly on a school trip to London, if the kids bring in their money on time)

I know it's not a healthy way of thinking.... it was more a reflection of that day (and future days I know)....

Since I've joined this site, I've felt better and more motivated, esp. since finding this particular section for 300+... just so 'nice' to see so many people who understand how I feel, and to help eachother...

But I can extrememy emotional... so I try to be honest with my emotions, even if they aren't healthy. (better than several years ago when I was so depressed I forgot how to feel any emotions)

also, since I'm in Egpyt, not really planning on buying a scale... so my weigh-ins will be minimal (won't even have a starting date until I'm home for Christmas).... but I plan on using measurements, photo diary (personal for now) and my clothing to estimate how I am doing.

definitely think I am going to enjoy this site.

and to celebrate, I got my report cards done a day early :carrot::carrot::carrot: carrot time!

Justwant2Bhealthy 11-06-2012 09:29 PM

:welcome: MELISSA ~ many of us (probably most of us) overate becuz of emotional stresses in our lives; but we CAN find alternate strategies to manage our emotions that don't involve food instead. I was just more "disappointed" in myself for not being aware of what I was doing to my body by "eating my feelings" over the years. I have learned to "face & feel" my feelings now, not try to cover them up or stuff them down with food.

Also, working on making the necessary changes in my life that are needed to deal with the stresses too. First and foremost, being aware of what they are; and how I was reacting to them. Now I try to respond to my emotions in a more positive and healing way.

mnemosyne 11-07-2012 03:02 PM

RadioJane - I would definitely be encouraged by that lecture. It's oddly complimentary, really, though it does amuse me how involved other people can get in your weight loss. Meanwhile, more other people don't much notice. Hah. My parents did not really comment on my weight loss until I had lost a good deal, although I haven't talked about it with them much, either. Which I sort of prefer.

I also love cheese, though I don't buy the babybel cheeses. I have been buying some local cheeses available at my local farm to table store and/or when I can get to an especially awesome farmer's market on the weekends. I'm a vegetarian, though. So it works for me. But I do have to be reaaally careful with it.

Heh, Melissa. This is true. I was fine on Scandanavian Airways at 340 lbs and ... United at 330 lbs, so assumed I would be good on Delta to South America at 320 lbs. But no. However: I've taken off 50 lbs since then so am thinking maaaybe, I am good now.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get involved in teaching internationally? Do you teach English as a second language, or some other subject? I think it's very adventurous of you to live internationally on your own like that.

Hah. Congrats on getting your report cards done, though.

Rosebud - congrats on getting through stress without overeating, that's always more difficult. I didn't cook anything this weekend, but my mother made a quinoa casserole for our Sunday night dinner and I have the leftovers for lunch. I had some leftover couscous too, so I sauteed some veggies in 1/2 container of the Philadelphia Cream Cheese cooking creams (4 servings per container, 90 calories per serving - so 2 servings, 180 calories) and then mixed them with the couscous to maker a casserole that I had for dinner last night. It was cook. I like the cooking cream. If I use it judiciously like that it gives me quick, easy flavor for 50 cal per serving.

dgramie - did you end up cleaning, or running around? running around sounds like more fun!

I am going to the movies tonight to see the Metropolitan Opera in HD broadcast. Well, it is the rebroadcast, since they are normally done on Saturdays. It's one of my favorite things - great opera, in comfy movie seats, for $20. Usually I would skip dinner and uhm, share a large popcorn (I mean a LARGE popcorn, which comes with one free refill) for dinner. They start at 6:30 and often are 3-4, sometimes 5 hours long. But! last night I made a couple of wraps to take with for dinner. I'm looking forward to it.

pluckypear 11-07-2012 09:38 PM

Hello. I would like to jump on this thread. :)

I read about people traveling. I do not fly and worry would I have to pay for two seats? I remember an Airline, maybe Air Canada was going to institute this if someone weighed over a certain weight. Also I saw a woman on the news who was confronted and told she was too fat to fly.

dgramie 11-08-2012 06:55 AM

mnem- I ran around with hubby and had fun. I got a new pair of jeans that actually fit nicely, and a new top. We had lunch out at mcdonalds but I counted each calorie. We picked up a subway sandwich to split for dinner. I came in a little over on calories but felt great about it. I use to would have done so much worse.
I did some cleaning yesterday and got a huge stack of winter coats washed to give away.I even cooked a healthy dinner, tonight I will just have to add a can of green beans and make the meatloaf. I love cooking ahead.

mnemosyne 11-08-2012 09:50 AM

The opera was great. It was L'Elisir d'Amore by Donizetti, just three hours but I was getting antsy toward the end. Dinner worked out. I was going to go out at intermission to buy the smallest popcorn but intermission came after the snack bar was closed, so BONUS FOR ME. Instead, I made popcorn when I came home and it was delicious and much healthier.

Oh, also: NSV - I was able to share the arm rest in the theater. I had room enough in the seat that I could rest my arm on it while the person next to me did that as well. !!!

pluckypear - hello and welcome! I am guilty of traveling fat. I have never been asked to buy an extra seat. It is much, much easier if you are traveling with a companion who can share your seat and doesn't mind putting up the armrest between the seats.

I fit - just - in seats on the big planes used on US to Europe flights when I was heavier, and did not need an extender. The standard is usually whether you can fit with the armrests down and with just one seatbelt extender. However, some airlines like Southwest are much stricter and the standard is generally 'whether our staff thinks you are really heavy.'

Smaller planes and shorter flights tend to have smaller and less comfortable seats, so can be more of a challenge. The last time I flew I was 320 lbs and flew from the US to Peru, and then took a bunch of short flights in Peru. I actually found the internal flights on Star Peru more comfortable than the international flight. Star Peru had different seats for the first 10 rows that were smaller, and then larger seats for the last (however many) rows, so as long as I stayed in the back of the plane I was fine even when my friends weren't sitting next to me. It was a real relief. I did need extenders on every flight, but the attendants were considerate.

We are the same height! Which helps gauge 'fit', but I am not a pear shape. More of a 'round all over' shape.

dgramie - that sounds like fun. I know what you mean, when I conquer days like that that would've been nuts once and get through them with good marks it always feels great. And I also love cooking ahead. Hah.

Also: at holiday dinners I want all dinner dishes done before we start eating dessert. :)

Radiojane 11-08-2012 10:15 AM

Mnemosyne - You've hit my biggest fear: Not being able to fly comfortably! I'm supposed to go to Mexico in February, and even though I've dropped a significant amount of weight, I still have a pretty hefty apron, and I've been dreading the plane. I still have a few more months to go, so I hope I don't have any issues!

pluckypear 11-08-2012 11:56 AM

Mnemosyne

Thanks for the information. I would travel with DH and he is slim. I think aisle would be best for me. I also need to pee a lot. Lol so washroom size also an issue. I will think about it though.

Radiojane I already have an apron and as I lose weight it will get worse. When I get low enough I really want surgery for that and my arms.

Radiojane 11-08-2012 12:09 PM

I'm most definitely going to need surgery for mine as well. It's already dropping so much that I'm extremely self conscious unless I'm in a good girdle!

pluckypear 11-08-2012 01:00 PM

Maybe by then it will be covered by OHIP or whatever insurance you have in Saskatchewan. It used to be covered here if you kept the weight off for one year and if your Dr. recommended it - I mean removing extra skin due to weight loss. But not anymore. I can get roux en y covered but not that, crazy in my opinion. I opted out of surgery as for me the risks were too great and people do gain the weight back or at least can.

time4me2change 11-08-2012 04:20 PM

mnem- I hope you have a great flight :)

Honestly, I got into international teaching because I couldn't get a job at home. I was working as an occasional (supply) teacher for a year and a half (and a travel agent on the side) but I hated day to day supply, and was not getting enough regular work some months to pay my bills.

ALso my dad had some heart surgeries in 2009/2010 (aortic valve replacement) and I spent a year being a caregiver, taking care of the household, dealing with doctors, hospitals, homecare nurses (for a horrible horrible post-op infection he had) and did nothing for myself that year (except gain a bunch of weight) and I needed to focus on me and my future.... applied for a job teaching Drama (with some ENglish) at an accredited Ontario School in China, they hired me... and here I am.

I teach currently at a Manitoba school, with their curriculum. Right now I do 9 and 12 English Language Arts, Drama and 12 PSychology. All Canadian Curriculum, and I get to travel and see the world. Actually we pass the pyramids everyday on the way to work. I'm loving it and right now I am getting to design a drama program from the ground up, my directors love me and my work and this is currently an opportunity I'd never have in Canada (not at age 28 anyways)

Plucky- I have never been asked to purchase a second seat, and other than the person beside me moving to another seat (kind of embarrassing, but then he was sitting with his shirt completely unbuttoned so also kind of good) no big deal has been made. But I do fit with the arm rests down (not overly comfortable on long leg flights 5+ hours, but meh)

I forget who but someone mentioned airplane bathrooms.... even my 8 year old cousin's kid remarked how small they were.... but I will say this I used them this summer on British Airways and fit.... more or less... you might want to see where the handicapped bathroom is and try to sit near there so you can use it.

My worst experience was flying home from Hong Kong (15+ hour direct flight) I had a nosebleed that lasted about 3 hours off and on... spent a lot of time in the bathroom taking care of it...

I am flying home for Christmas in a few weeks, and have treated myself to Business class... I think I'll still need the extender, but at least I won't be right beside someone and can put my feet up... plus I can actually use the tray table properly.

chinadoll873 11-08-2012 04:36 PM

hey all just checking in..hope you are all doing well. I have a new goal of losing 29 pounds to reach 313...once i reach this goal..i would have lost 100 pounds..lets go!

I think it is still covered by Sask health. Even if it isn't, if you start getting rashes etc, it should be medically necessary. I'd have to think about it, I haven't had kids yet and I would be afraid of gain.

mnemosyne 11-08-2012 06:40 PM

Jane - I think you'll be fine. Especially given the rate at which you are losing - wow! I know that I was about 360 or 370 once when I traveled internationally. I don't know my exact weight, but I was heavier then than since. Anyway - I was uncomfortable, but I had a companion with me and was okay. And I am much shorter than you, so no matter the size of your apron I expect you are no bigger around than I was.

I think you will actually be more uncomfortable on the plane because of your height! If you can afford it, I strongly recommend that you check with your airline to see if they have economy plus seats available. There is usually an extra fee but you will have a few more inches of leg room that can make a big difference. Also, check out seat guru: http://www.seatguru.com/ - they have more stats about planes and seat sizes.

Pear - as I said, I've traveled when I weighed more than your starting weight. I always fit into the airplane washroom, though I've only gone on the BIG planes. Not the local jets.

And, hah, I am jealous of you both and the Canadian health care system. I doubt that my insurance would cover skin removal and even then my share would be at least 5k. Ugh. Well, and I'm not sure that I could deal with the pain afterward.

Melissa - I am really, really so impressed with your initiative and a teeny bit jealous that I never managed to do something so adventurous and dramatic when I was your age. That you didn't let your weight or anything else get in your way, and that you've made such a great place for yourself. That is really exciting, and you deserve some excitement after the sacrifices you made taking care of your dad. Are you students mostly children of Canadians working in Egypt? Or do you have locals as well?

I have never been to Egypt but would like to go. The closest I've been was in Tunis a few years ago. Before the Arab spring, so pictures of Ben Ali (I think his name was) were everywhere. And, uh, I thought he was a creepy nightclub singer at first, and then figured it out and thought it looked the way Franco's Spain might've looked.

Oh, and BUSINESS CLASS. I will have to hear a report on how you enjoy it. You must luxuriate. :) I mean, diet or no diet, you have to at least sample whatever free champagne they offer. ;)

chinadoll - ooh, good luck! that will be such a great milestone for you, and I know you can do it!

Thanks so much for the tips! I hate being scrunched up!

mnemosyne- posts like yours, that remind me how much I have in common with people here, and that are so welcoming, reinforce how glad I am to have found this site!

Re: plane seats and bathrooms- I've flown long distance on Continental, British Airways, Emirates and Qantas, all at 300lbs and a UK size 22 on the bottom, and have had no issue with fitting into seats or doing up the seatbelt or fitting into the bathrooms (I think the bathrooms are a bit awkward for people of any size!). If you're my height or taller, the aisle seat gives you more leg room, or try and get the row next to the door. And if you want a bit more width in the seat, I've found the window seat to be ever so slightly wider.

The only issue I've had at this weight is on short haul flights, which seem to have narrower seats and smaller belts. I have to do up the belt, uh, above the bikini line, rather than at my waist, which is uncomfortable but liveable for a couple of hours.

Thanks for all the tips and open conversation. It is wonderful to talk to people who understand these types of concerns.

Mnem- My students are mostly locals, and then some students who have come from other countries (Syria, etc) We have a few staff member's children who attend, but they are all in elementary.

I will gladly share my Business class experience, I am looking forward to it. British Airways does it right, especially flying through Heathrow (which I am).... :)

Today I went grocery shopping, bought some fruit and veg that look good, have to wash them super well so I don't get sick but I have some peaches (imported) granny smith apples (imported) and Pomegranates (local) and I bought a mix of carrots, zuccini and beans for boiling and mixing with pasta/other dishes and I bought some green beans.

I also found sunflower bread that I am trying out, and I bought some frosted mini-wheats for breakfast (eaten dry because I dislike milk here in egypt) and of course yogurt to assist with stomach safety.

I plan on cooking all of my lunches this week and at least 2-3 dinners...

:welcome: to all the Newbies ~ who have been dropping in this week. I don't travel long distance hardly ever, so can't help out with that but the other ladies have given some great tips here.

We've had a bit of :sunny: this week; and the streets were clear of snow & ice today, so I braved some cold winds and went for a good walk this afternoon. My eating has been good despite some stress this week (DH has had some upsets this week). Dealing with things one day at a time right now, but am glad that I am not turning to food anymore.

We got a lot of stuff done this week: shopping, bills paid, fall cleaning, odd jobs around the house, regular cleaning, etc. Keeps us busy and gives us a bit of added exercise too. :D

Hope you all have a wonderful OP weekend ... :flow2:

so I talked to a friend last night about my plans, she is super healthy and works out all the time but also like realistic and non-judgemental. I asked her to buy me a scale because although I am loving living in Egypt, and the people are really nice, they are also very blunt...and the last thing I want is to be seen buying a scale.... so she said she'd get one for me, and we are going to do some cooking together.

On that topic, today a different friend is coming over and we are going to do some cooking together too... I haven't told her about my plans, but she knows more about how I am feeling (since she is trying to assist me in getting together with a guy I like)...

so I have a support here too, and then this website.... because niether of these two ladies know how much I weigh nor will they ever. But I will update my goal when I have a scale... and actually sharing that number will be a huge step for me, and I might even be sick when I do it, but I have to do it.... I need it to stare me in the face so I can conquer it.

not likely off to a good start today, woke up and cleaned for my cleaning lady to come... skipped breakfast, will eat lunch though, when she leaves.

I have had a good week. I am going to a family meal this evening in my hometown with alot of my daddys family(whats left of them). I know it will be fun but yet sad since we have lost so many members this year.
I am going to dye my hair this morning and make a cheeseball for a shower tomorrow. I am excited to wear my new jeans and top tomorrow. I plan on these jeans not fitting for long. :)
I am down over 2lbs this week. I plan on decluttering my house next week and losing some more extra baggage.LOL Wont be long till the tree will go up. I love christmas and cant wait to just sit and enjoy my tree.
Looks like I am cooking for my kids on Thanksgiving. Tree will most likely go up the next day.
Is anyone done shopping?? Im getting closer.

pluckypear 11-11-2012 07:49 PM

I also love Christmas and can't wait to get a tree and will start shopping soon. I want to buy a wreath for my door this week. That will be a start.

Justwant2Bhealthy 11-11-2012 08:36 PM

Well, I do have my Christmas Tree on its table in thelivingroom. It has lights on it becuz we store it that way. The decos will be another thing as DH says he can't find them ... Okaaaaaaaaaaay, here we go again. Will have to catch him on another day -- one with more clarity of thought and patience.

Eating went well this week; and our weekend went pretty good. Only a few moments of stress, so that's not too bad really. WE had some ***** fall, but it has almost all melted now as the temps came back up today.

Hope you all have a great week coming up .... :flow2:

Just spent three days in the city Christmas shopping with my mom. Came home to a blizzard from hades. There's four feet of snow now bad when I left Friday there was bare ground! I haven't stepped on the scale but I'm not freaking. I cheated but I took all my supplements, drank water and walked til my feet ached. Best part? Presents all purchased and wrapped!
