i have been away for awhile, i also havent been on the scale for awhile....scared to approach that beast yet..i am not quite ready to go back on plan, well for one thing i don't know what plan i am doing, i failed on two plans last year. but i figure my first step is coming here..and take it from there.
Just get back on it hun!!! Just remember you are not alone alot of people have fallen off the wagon. I am just getting back on myself!!! The holidays were killer!!
So many times I've come back here, crawling and ashamed. I will tell you what everyone told me. There is no shame in starting over. The only way to begin is to do one small thing you can handle.
I'm glad you're back!! Come over to our accountability thread in the lifeboat, or go read positive things or tell us more about yourself on the monthly threads.

Aw, repto! Don't be ashamed. Just pick yourself right back up and get at it. I havent been great during the holidays but that's okay. I'm right back on it tomorrow. Don't worry!
This is one of those threads where if it had a "like" button, I'd like the responses. Good, all.
Reptogirl - first of all, good for you for acknowledging that you need to "get back" to healthy eating. Secondly, brace yourself and get on the scale. Prepare yourself for the worst and just do it. We all need to know where we begin so we can see our progress. Its just a number and a starting point. I myself started eating better this spring, with a scale number of 198 when I got courageous enough to know--but frankly, I was over 200 before that and it took me a while to muster up the courage to really know--so don't take too long on that issue. You really do need to know.
Next, figure out a plan that is doable and workable for your lifestyle. If you "failed" before on 2 diets, it could be those diets failed you. I don't know what you were following, but I have read over and over how people started something too drastic and, of course, could not stick with it. Now that isn't to say that some people can't -- for instance, there are plenty of different diets here on these pages and they work for some and not for others and ultimately to be successful we have to find something we can stick to.
I started making healthier choices this spring, then joined WW in late July. What I thought was going to be miraculous weight loss according to all the hype was, for me, a non-motivator. I feel that WW failed me. I turned to counting calories and a new world of dieting opened up! I have been very successful with the most basic plan of all and the best part about it is that with the internet there are a vast number of sites available to make calorie counting as simple as possible. Not to mention phone apps if you're technologically able.
Diet smart, not hard. Don't make your plan so difficult that it can't be stuck with. Know that you're going to "cheat" occasionally, and get over it.
Good luck.

Small gradual changes have meant slow but steady loss for me. It's taking a while, but I haven't felt like I'm "failing" at any point, and I've for the most part stuck with it. At least I haven't gained any weight back, which is goal 1 for me. Do what you want to do, what you feel you can, and call on us for support.
You're picking yourself up and trying again...that's definitely NOT failure! It took me forever to find a plan that worked for me, my lifestyle and my body. I spent so many years feeling like a failure when diet after diet failed but really I just hadn't tried the plan that worked for my body.
It's all part of the journey...You know how to lose weight, now you're learning how to get back on the wagon. The victory is that you are actually getting back in the game and not throwing out the baby with the bathwater!!! CONGRATS on your success so far...and I do mean success. Knowing when you need help and turning it around. YOU CAN DO THIS....
Hello Reptogirl! That's about 13 pounds down from the starting in your signature -- not a bad place to start from at all. Congrats! Good luck, and we're glad you're back.
thank you, i think instead of going full force which i don't know if i am ready for honestly, i am going to take it slow this time, starting with cutting out pop..day one of that fun endeavor, next will probably be cutting out sweets, and then other junk food, and work myself up to processed foods...i don't know..maybe its bad to do it this way...i want to get back to intermittent fasting..but i don't have the mind set yet.
Most people will fail if they try and change their life completely over night. One day at a time. If you have a crappy lunch, don't throw in the towel, just eat a better dinner and move on!! The easiest way to change is to do it slowly and have it be something reasonable. All of those silly diets where you only have liquids, you eat no carbs, you take "pills"... none of those are sustainable for your whole life. A healthy lifestyle is forever, not just until you lose the weight! The weight didn't appear overnight and its not going to disappear over night either. Like I said, one day at a time and you will have nothing but success!
