Default New....hello!

Hey everyone,

Firstly, well done to those of you losing, it is inspiring to read of people losing lots of weight. Some days it feels like i will never be able to lose, it is motivating to see people drop 100 plus pounds.

My weight has always been a problem, i go from being okay with it, at around 150 to being utterly disgusted at 371.

Until recently the highest i had been was 368, then i hit 371 and i refuse to allow myself to go higher. I started exactly a week ago with exercising, i'm down 4 lbs today. I have been doing 30 minutes on my recumbent bike most days, i missed 2. I'm using Livestrong to count calories. It says i should be eating 2335 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week, that seems like a lot!

I have a 9 month old son and when he was born i swore i would lose weight by his first birthday, i have gained 30+ lbs. He is crawling and getting into everything lately and it is exhausting keeping up. I don't want to be a fat mom, i don't want to miss out on running around with him, doing fun things with him. As it is, i avoid almost anything outside the home, i wont go sightseeing if it involves trains or buses because i'm afraid i wont fit in the seat. I haven't been to a movie in a long time for the same reason. I won't eat out at restaurants unless i know for sure i'll fit the booth etc, i guess this one is good, although not really because it results in drive thru junk.

So, here i am, attempting my weight loss journey again. I am hoping that by joining a forum like this, i will stay motivated and be accountable.

Thank you!

Welcome to 3FC =)

Congrats on losing 4 pounds! That's great

Keep going with the exercise, it's marvelously good for you. Those calories might seem like a lot some days, but other days they aren't always enough. All depends on the foods we want to eat.

We're glad to have you join us, and hope to see you around the boards on your journey!

You can do this

Hey there! WTG on dropping the 4 lbs! I can totally relate to what you are saying, especially about being nervous you won't fit in the booth! One of the main reasons I decided this is it. I am sick of worrying about not being able to fit somewhere! Welcome and good luck!!

Hey, welcome. I just started here, too, though I began dieting several months ago. I feel empathy with you, 'cause we have around the same starting point, and the same goal. You're not going to find a better place to hang out and discuss this weight loss stuff; this place really rocks.

Regarding the calories. . .well, something like Livestrong can be a great starting point for estimating where your set point is. Start there, adjust as necessary. If it works, it works, and everything is yay! If you're losing on that amount, then there's no need to change it at this point.

And welcome!

Welcome. You should be very proud of yourself for starting this journey. I find myself popping into the forum here whenever I feel like I can't do it (or that I don't want to) and I always find some wonderfully inspiring story or happen across a picture of someone with an incredible weight loss and I keep telling myself "See, you can do it."
I totally see where you're coming from with not wanting to be a "fat mom". I'm like that too. I had an overweight mom growing up, and it never really bothered me until someone would start talking bad about her and there was really nothing I could do to defend her, because they had a point...my mom was fat. I don't want my kids to have to go through that. I want to be able to help them train for sports when they get older, and for them to not be embarrassed to have me show up at school functions.
Way to go on the exercising! Keep up the good work! That on top of cutting the calories...you'll be skinny in no time!!
