Default 300+ Wellness Goals Challenge-February 2011

Here's how it works: Everyone of us has wellness goals. Break those goals up into small, achievable steps and challenge yourself to meet your goals by the end of the month. They can be a number of pounds lost; please keep it reasonable and safe, dietary goals, goals to change your mindset, etc. There is already a 300+ Monthly Exercise Goal so we won't do exercise goals here.

Let's all support and encourage each other on this life long journey. Don't get discouraged if you don't meet your goal, just keep on challenging yourself.

You can join at any time.

This website might help you WITH GOAL SETTING: http://www.goal-setting-guide.com/se...s/goal-setting

■M = Measurable
■A = Attainable

~I want to track everyday with a goal of getting my food tracked either before I eat it or immediately after. I am going to accomplish this with pre-planning and taking the time to do it.
~
I want to stay within my daily PP ideally 100% of the time but because it's been more like 3 days a week I'm going to strive for 5 days a week.

~My biggest struggle this month is my upcoming surgery and how my eating will be wonky for 4 weeks following because I can only have soft foodS. I have already been feeling the impending deprivation but I know I need to wrap my mind around this in a positive light. I do not want to go whole hog on the things I know I will miss but I do want to enjoy them. I am planning on having pizza, steak and my new favorite Chinese dish, Singapore Rice noodles...but instead of pigging out on these things I am going to have them each once. I am going to have plenty of canned fruit, over steamed veggies, sweet potatoes and whatever other healthy soft foods I can think of on hand for afterwards. I'll have to ask but I would think a vegetarian vegetable soup would be okay, and bean soup if it's pureed? But I have 3 more weeks before I have to deal with that.

Rainbow, I make my iced coffee several ways. I always use a 28 oz cup.
I fill it about 1/4- 1/3 of the way with hot tap water and stir in 1 heaping Tbsp instant dark roast coffee
Powdered creamer to your liking
1 Tbsp sugar free flavored syrup (vanilla, hazelnut, caramel...whatever floats your boat)
lately I have been adding a packet of white hot chocolate instead of creamer and flavored syrup...a little more calories but a whole lot creamier
Add ice to 2/3 of the way up
Top with milk of your choice about 1 1/3 cup...I use Vanilla Almond Milk, Soy milk and sometimes I go all out to make it like Starbucks and use 2% to make it extra creamy
Stir and enjoy!

It's awfully quiet on this month's thread.
I tracked the last two days but not until the end of the day. I'm working a 12 hour shift today...the first in a long time. Payday is tomorrow and we are low on food so I'll be eating in the cafeteria today.
Have to go to my WW meeting now, I hope there is some activity in here by the time I log in tomorrow!

Hi Goodnuff! The weather here has been really bad lately and I have not been to work in 3 days. Schools are shut down, streets are sheets of ice, it is crazy. I hope you had a good weigh in today. I love your goals, they sound great. I still have my goal to be at 275 by Valentines Day. I am also keeping my goal to track everything. I have had a goal to exercise 3 times a week but it has not happen this week. Hopefully I will get two days in. Technically I did a lot of walking at the zoo on Sunday but I have trouble thinking of that as exercise but that could count as my third day this week. Being home has made it a lot harder to not eat all day. At least when I am at work, I don't munch. I have done well at home it had just been hard.
Hope to see everyone else soon, on here. Have a great end of the week!

Welcome Back Risen! Great goals! What are some carb free meals you eat? Just curious. Don't beat yourself up over the gain. We all have those times so good for you for recognizing it and getting back on track now rather then weeks from now!!!! See you here again soon!

Hello everyone...am I glad to see February, it is one of my favorite months! The gloominess of January is over and even as the calendar changed, so did my spirits...finally. Anyway, I am sorry to hear about the awful weather in your parts of the country...hopefully you will get a break soon. I will admit that our 65 degree day was wonderful today...gotta love California for the weather (at this point that's all it has going for it)!
Well here is to another month of healthful living...Good luck on all of your goals!
My goals for the month are:
to rededicate myself to me and my goals
track my food and calories
get moving

Yay, glad to see you all back. I hate when computer problems mess our posting lives up...lol, but glad it's fixed Risen.
I hear that there are places that shut down with bad weather. I'm not sure what it would take for anything but schools to get shut down here. I know just south of us they got 23 inches of snow, but there were still people trying to drive in it...nuts! I think our Packers brought the Wisco ice down there with them.
I've been thinking about where the perfect place for me to live would be, I'm rather sick of 7 month long winters. I'm at the perfect spot in my life to make a big move. Single, adult daughter, don't own a home anymore...where should I go? Maybe by KT in Cali...that weather sounds fabulous!

So working a 12 hour shift after a WW meeting needs to be honed. No time for breakfast. Didn't want to take my one and only break at noon when I had to be there til 11:30. And of course what they had didn't look appealing to I went for chili and a cheese sandwich. We had another horrible loss at work, another co-worker had a full term demise. I was so sad after work, it brought back many feelings I had from attending the delivery for my other co-worker. All I wanted to do was eat. When Moody came home without what I had asked for I flew off the handle. How stupid is that? She saved me from a terrible binge by being self centered...I should be thankful. I am now bu I was in a rage last night...obviously issues I need to work on.

Here is to a long weekend off ;-)

Hi ladies, going to join you this month. I had a rough year last year and really wasn't able to focus on myself, but I'm rebooting this year to give weight loss a serious effort.

I know me by now, and I know if I try to cut calories too far too suddenly I'll never stick with it, so my goal for this month is to gradually reduce calories to where I want to keep them for a while. Right now I'm at 1950, which I doubt will produce much in the way of loss, but it's less than I was eating, so that's a start.

By the end of the month, I'd like to be consistently under 1850.

We were shut down this week too--no foot of snow, but we had a solid 4 inches of ice and sleet. The sidewalks are okay now, but parking lots are insane--truly look like skating rinks.

Glad to meet you all.

Angela

I'm taking a vigilance break this weekend. There is too much going on to try to worry about every morsel I put in my mouth but I am starting back up Monday morning.
I've decided hanging out with my 107 pound mom is not good for my diet in the Winter. In the summer we 'll walk for hours but all we do in Winter is eat. We went to a Chinese buffet for lunch and a pizza buffet for supper. I had steamed veggies and lots of naughty things and a salad and lots of naughty pizza. I feel like there should be one of those stickers that teachers pass out on my forehead "NEEDS IMPEOVEMENT"!

Holaaa

So I had the Pizza and it burned a lil bit so it wasnt all THAT tasty..but oh well...I feel better atm with two meals a day (I was sick wednesday till friday so I couldnt really eat) well Ive been basically ate what I wanted to not the best but than I ate just twice a day and I really liked it. Soo I will see how its when I have work/school again, prolly be back on three meals but oh well.. I read totay about the lose skin..its reallly bothering me, and I think it might be the reason for me not behaving anymore as good foodwise, I dont like what I see already and I dont wanna imagine the skin after another 60-80lbs loss..so anyway I read that you should do a weightloss break and just keep your weight and do sports ofc..I was thinking about it, but then again I reallly wanna be under 100kg to hold my weight..so I might keep going till im 95-98kg and then hold it for a few weeks..but I dont know yet, just a thought.. What do you think?

Enjoy your sundays
Hugs,
Anne

I don't know, Anne. A nutritionist told me something similar: my goal should be to lose 10% of body weight then maintain it for a while before trying to lose again. But the purpose was to learn how to maintain, I think. How much it would help with skin resilience I don't know.

Hi Eveyone! Hope you are off to a good week.
Risen: Thanks for the sample carb free meals. I think I do that more than I realize but when I hear "carb free" my minds races to feeling deprived. But I do protein and veggies for dinner several nights a week. I'm sorry you have been struggling with the skin issue. I'm not sure what the right answer is but I would think the more active and weight training you do the better off you be. I can see where a break from weight loss could be good but whose to say how long that break needs to be. I would think that if you continue to eat healthy (even just to maintain) and do weight training that you would be on the right track. I don't know that I could handle the idea of a weight loss break as it would make my mind think I can eat whatever I wanted and I would be right back where I started at and have to lose all over again. THAT would not be good for the skin.
Goodnuff: I am so sorry to hear about your co-worker. That is such an awful time and to have to experience that twice in a short amount of time is no fun. Hang in there. I know you know that you are strong and will make it through these rough times. On a less serious note, I saw you write something (I think in the January thread) about having your taste buds adjust to liking different (maybe less sweets things). Well I just had to tell you that your taste buds DO adjust. It is crazy. I LOVE sweets and my co-worker was always eating this suger free pudding and I thought to myself "Why bother?" If I want pudding it WILL have sugar in it. Well now, I LOVE that sugar free pudding. I also like dark chocolate now whick I never liked before.
Rainbowsmiles: I'm sorrry you are down in the dumps lately. Anything specific going on? I hope you are feeling better soon. You cheerful posts always inspire but know it is OK to write the har stuff too if you think it would help.
KTFaith: Welcome back. Glad to hear all the gloominess has left. Hope your rededication toy ourself, tracking, and moving are all going good for you! I'm dreaming of 65 degrees right now (I live in Texas, I realy shouldn't complain but dang it was cold here!!)
Vortex: Welcome back. Hope this year is going better for you. 1950 calories is a lot better than what I used to eat. Good for you for getting back on track!
The ice and snow here have melted and all is back to normal (whatever that is). It is supposed to ice again Wednesday but I am choosing denial for now. :-) I had a great weigh in this past Saturday. I lost 4.4. So if I loose .6 this week I will have met my goal. I think this is the first weight related goal I may meet (in my time frame) in at least 4 months. I do have a little cold right now but I am just SO excited to be out of the house so I am trying hard to act OK. :-)
Have a great week. I can't wait to hear from you all.
