Default 300+ Monthly Thread #1279

WELCOME!!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simultaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us!

morning ladies..

I dont even remember when the last time I was here

I have really been busy. my cousin was here for a visit! We had so much fun. Then my aunt had a birthday party for my cousin who turned 20. That was fun too! More company in from Louisiana.

I have been crafting up a storm.

My son filed the paperwork for paternity. Monday he is sending it certified mail. Lets HOPE she signs it and gets on with this mess.

My youngest it being referred to a GI dr. His tummy is still messed up. She also said his liver enzymes are up again. Not too bad so I dont know what that means at all.

My tummy has its good and bad days. Think I will just have to live like that.

No exercising still for me. I do notice when I walk sometimes I feel better sometimes it is worse.

Arizona is still HOT! around 105. come on cooler weather!!

Hello my Peeps!

Been doing chores and neglected yard work this weekend. Then the battery went out on the car. Never a dull moment, right? All fixed now.

The weather has been cooperating here, Cyn - despite getting 6 inches of rain the other day. No flooding around my house, but others got wet.

No camping until the wine and balloon fest on the 15th with my little sis and then the last hoorah gathering of the Chesapeake chapter of my camping club on the 22nd. I've had a great time camping this season and met a lot of nice folks too.

Hugs to all!

Hello, Ladies!!

Weather has definitely gotten cold here!!! Almost froze during the boy's soccer game yesterday. I am definitely feeling the difference of not having that extra insulation! I get so cold so easily. And once I'm chilled, I have a really hard time getting warmed up. But, it was worth it to watch the whole game. My son is really into soccer right now. Which is awesome!!!

Haven't worked out. Been busy. But that's not an excuse. Need to get back to it. It takes up so much time. Not that I really get all that much done when I'm home. But, that's the way it goes!!

I got a contract!!! I am a content editor for textbooks. I do freelance work. I've been doing it for 13 years. Most years, I do really well. I average between $10K and $30K. Well, this year, I have brought in $4000. Ouch. So, I've been looking for a contract to do something. Got one!! Had an interview on Thursday and they sent all the paperwork Friday. Not sure when I will actually start the work, but my first due date is 10/14. Woohoo!!!

Cyn - I've been crafting more too... for me it's knitting. What kind of stuff do you do?

Rat - So jealous of your camping trips. I miss camping... wouldn't dare do it here in Thunder Bay, though, between the bears and the freezing cold weather... yikes! It went down to -6 overnight lastnight, and it's barely October!

Basketcase - Yay for work! That sounds like it could be really interesting, editing textbooks... or in some cases really dull. I edited a friend's physics thesis a couple years back and that was just brutal! Lol.

I have been SO busy with school, and for some reason have found it overwhelming to keep up with everyone on 3FC... so I've been popping on, throwing in occasional comments, but have been mostly absent. Been doing great since moving here, though, I'm down 19 pounds since I moved here! Teacher's college is hard work, but it's worth it, and taking control of my diet is so rewarding... especially when I see it pay off!

Hi Everyone!

Long time no see I really got more hurt than I realized in the car accident in June. It was too painful to sit up without a headrest so I only went on FAcebook each day for a short time. I should have come here cause I am at 255.5 right now!!!! I was at 261 so I'm down a bit and working on getting back down to where I was and then onwards and downwards to goal.

Glad to be back and looking forward to seeing what all my sweet chickie friends have been up to lately

Hugs and many blessings,
Annie

Hello my Peeps!

Annie, Babe!!! I'm so sorry to hear that you were still hurt badly from the car accident. I'm glad you are back with us. You didn't say if you were feeling better, but I'm hoping so. How are the critters?

Catherine, how's classes? Are you back in the condo *all* unpacked? Have you been doing sewing?

Cyn, your crafting sounds so cool! I hope you take pictures of the quilt. I'm so glad it's starting to cool off there.

Neon! Good to hear from you. You sound very very busy. Brrrr, cold up there, eh? I'm hoping to do some cold weather camping this year, but not too far below freezing. I have a couple of October trips and perhaps one in November. Doesn't get too cold here until Jan or Feb.

Basket, good ta see ya! Sorry the recession has taken it's told on your work, but congratz on the new contract! My sis does self-employment. It's hard.

Well, my 6.5 yr old boy golden has a fatty tumor that suddenly became inflamed and pus-filled in a 24 hr period. He's on heavy duty antibiotics for a week and then we are doing surgery. Poor thing. He's got an old t-shirt on of mine so he doesn't lick the tumor. It's perfectly centered on his right side of his body. He looks funny walking around in a tshirt, but the shirt is working!

Boss kitty has taken over the house and keeps trying to play with the goldens. The goldens just give him ear kisses. The parrot keeps trying to catch the cat's paw when Boss puts it in the cage.

Hugs to all!!!

Annie!! yeah your back!!!

Rat: Me too!! cool weather cmon!

I have some SAD news to share. I have a friend from grade school who I have been searching for online for about 5 years now. Last night her daughter who is now 18 found me on myspace. I knew this could not be good news. About 3 weeks ago I had been having dreams about my friend almost every night. It was really strange. Her daughter told me that my friend Crystal Carlson passed away on Sept 22nd after a year long battle with Breast Cancer that spread to her liver. She also has another daughter who is 16 and 2 grand children.

I have been NUMB all day. I am so sad that she died so young. She would have been 38 in November. I am remembering all the fun and crazy things we did. Both of her parents are still living. I have some pics of her that I am going to make copies for her girls.

I am so learning..everyday..don't waste a minute of life..cause you never know when it will be gone

Rat: Hugs to your little Golden boy. I hope he heals quickly. I am feeling much better. I only am hurting when I weight lift on the days I have Physical therapy. As soon as I give it some time it stops hurting so I'm on my way to a recovery from pain very soon.

Cyn: I am so very sorry about your loss. I am feeling a bit numb myself over loss. A dear friend from high school killed himself the other day. It just makes me so sad that there are people like your friend fighting for their lives and then there are people like my friend that are fighting for their lives in another way. I have been so depressed before that I feel like I don't want to be around and that is such a sad place to be. I will be praying for you and your friend's family.

I have been gone so long that I didn't have a chance to tell you guys that we had to have our sweet old Pepper dog put to sleep in the beginning of July. She had arthritus so bad that she couldn't get up. The only comfort was that she is with Bearbee now that had brain cancer last December. So... as doggies do, Moose was super sad and lonely and I always want two doggies at a time so we started looking around in September for another pup. We were so blessed with a Bouvier de Flanders female. We don't have papers on her but we don't care. We only had to pay $75 for her when she was selling along with her siblings for $1400. Long story but a man bought her for his wife then left his wife for another woman. Wife said she can't care for a dog right now and didn't want her money back she just wanted her to go to a good home. We paid the $75 for her shots and so we can have some financial investment in her (breeder's idea) and now we have our sweetie pie baby Molly! She and Moose love each other and cuddle and play. It was one of the best decisions that we have ever made.

I sure missed all of you guys so much and I'm so looking forward to hearing about your lives.

Hugs and blessings,
Annie

Cyn and Annie,

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friends. Things like that always gives me a slap upside the head and makes me scared for all the people I love (if that makes any sense).

Annie, awww for the loss of Pepper. I also lost my sweet and evil psychokitty, Ratkity in July to kidney failure. Shortly after, I took a 3 yr old gray and white kitty boy home who had been living for nearly a year at the vets! His name is Bossman kitty. He's a sweet lover kitty that even loves the doggies! I'm so glad Moose puppy has a friend now. Wow, what a story about getting such a sweet doggie.

Pictures!!! I need a new puppy pict

Hugs,
Ratkity

Evening y'all!

Annie - So glad to see you again, and to hear that you're feeling better. That's awful how hurt you were! I am so sorry to hear about your friend, you and his family are in my thoughts. And congrats on the new addition to your family Nothing like the love of a pet.

Cyn - That's heartbreaking, about your friend... and so eerie that you were overcome with thoughts and dreams about her right around the time she passed away. You, and your friend's family, are also in my thoughts.

Rat - Poor Goldenboy! (I don't know his real name, but I like the sounds of that!) Lots of love to him!

I'd like to "amen" Rat's comment about such loss being like a slap upside the head. I try to let my family and friends know how important they are to me as often as possible, but you never know when something can happen and we can all use a reminder.

Life for me is... moving. I get to go home in a month, which will be amazing. I miss them like crazy. And then I start my placement, hopefully in a high school in Ottawa, but I don't know yet. I'm still swamped with major assignments, group work, and tests, but it's okay... it's what I signed on for. Hopefully it'll be worth it and I'll find a job once all's said and done!

Hello all. It seems like you all have quite a connection to one another already. I hope I can become part of that someday.

I've been perusing the forums and really should get to bed. But something kept nagging me to write something. I have the next week off from work to help my mother after her surgery. I hope that in that time I can get myself a little prepared to start a life style change.

Just downloaded Yahoo Messenger and am bothered at the fact that it download the Yahoo Taskbar after I told it not to. (Sorry, I tend to ramble and go off on tangents from time to time... lol) Hmmm... gotta remember to figure out how to get rid of it permanently.

Nice to meet you all and I hope to get to know you all a bit better.

Welcome Albino!!

Just jump right in, both feet. Don't worry about personals. Just tell us how you are doing. Doesn't have to be weight-related either.

Hugs,
Ratkity
