Default My Journey so far..

Hey everyone,

Back again. For the...gosh, I've lost track, time.

My new journey is so different. I ended up getting this pain, had it for about a week... heard "Its an infection, or obstruction" from doctors until it got so bad I went back to the hospital, and they did a scan..anyhoo..long story short I ended up spending 2 weeks of August in hospital (1st time I've ever had to stay in hospital ) , because I had to have a major surgery to remove a HUGE ovarian cyst, that I almost couldn't believe I had. I had always just assumed I put on the weight in my belly area, and thats why it was shaped the way it was. Boy, I was wrong. Anyways, I had to go back for a few days because the wound is having difficulty closing down by my belly button, its such an awkward place. But Im on the track to a recovery..its not infected, and is superficial.

I had started my weight loss journey a week before this all started. Now, with the cyst out, and my stays in the hospital I have dropped 57lbs. In about less than a month. In some ways Im happy that my jeans actually fit me again, my shirts fit me better and all that, but I'm also concerned that I'll end up putting some of it back on, just because in the hospital, for alot of it I was on clear fluid diets and whatnot..

I just have to be thankful the major surgery went extremely well, (it could've been bad) and it looks to be NOT cancerous, which is a relief, although we wont know for sure until the report comes back. I lost an ovary in the process, but I've still got the other one Gotta focus on the good things And look at it as a major step in the direction of getting healthy.

Anyhoo...just wanted to get some of that out..I hope to be posting more on the boards now that Im home!

Hi Catherine,
So sorry you went through so much pain and discomfort, but so glad everything is doing well and your healing. As far as the weight you lost, yes you may put some back on, but look at it this way you gotta a great jump start on your weight lose journey. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading more of your post.

Oh my. Welcome back I'm glad to hear things are better. Don't worry if you gain some of it back. We both know you'll end up losing it for good when everything is said and done. Like learningtoliveagain said, that's a great head start to your journey. It may not be the way you imagined losing that first bit of weight but still, you lost weight.

I agree with both, learningtoliveagain and celestialwolf, you may put some back on. However, don't get discouraged!!! The main reason you will probably put some of it back on is because you were on a liquid diet. Once you transition back to solid foods, you will tend to gain some back. Don't panic, just keep on doing what you are doing and keep going!

I am sorry about the surgery, but I am also very glad that you are going to be okay and you are healing. This has given me the opportunity of meeting you and helping you along with your journey, as I am sure you will return the favor. How wonderful is that? I look forward to getting to know you through your posts. By the way, welcome back!!!! I have also been back too many times to count. This is the first time I have stuck to it more than a month and this is the first time I actually lost almost 20 lbs! =) I know you can do the same!!!

BrokenButterfly - what a shocker! I hope all the path reports come out benign! In the meantime, as I'm sure you know, you're in a fully supportive place to regain a healthy way of eating. As others have said, you may regain some of what you've lost, but you're certainly off on the right track being so positive. It makes all the difference in the world in recovery. I look forward to hearing more about your journey!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Everyone here is so awesome I look forward to chatting with everyone on the boards

Yeah, Im resigned to the fact that Im going to put a few back on, early on However, I am not letting myself get to the point where my jeans dont fit again. I practically cried with joy when I got home and when I was feeling up to it, tried my jeans on.

As for exercise..I cant do much right now..but I can walk. Well, slowly But Im going to walk around the block every day, if I can. Its not a long walk, but its something to keep me moving, and help the recovery

The Doc saw a bit of the report, now she did say she didnt think it was the final report, but she said everything looks good. I wont know for sure until I see her again in a few weeks though
