  • This group is for those dealing with the challenges of being fit when you have a significant amount of weight to lose which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.
  • The heat wave arrives today. This is why I don't like Summer!

Yesterday was OK. Today WILL be better.

Hope everyone has a successful week!
  • Peek-a-Boo!

How are my favorite chicks doing today!?!?!? Yes...I'm still around. Just busy keeping up with life as usual! I am finding very little time to get on the computer these days...although I know I really need to be here with all of you! I'm continuing to struggle with my weight loss and keep my head in the right place. I know it's emotional. I'm trying to figure out how to get back in the "zone" again. I need my "click"....whatever...something! Anything!

I am staying very active. Yesterday I set out to do a bike event with a buddy. The goal was 65 miles. I ended up having to stop after 33 miles mostly because of my hip. (you may remember a few months ago when someone hit me in a parking lot...still having some residual effects). I'm still proud of those 33 miles!!! I plan to ride the MS 75 mile in September. I just have to train a little harder, keep working on the hip and I'll take my time on the ride.

On June 10 I turned 40! We celebrated by going on a cruise with 17 other people...family and friends. It was a blast...well, parts of it. I had some issues with hubby and the kids, but we all survived!

Next month I'm running off to FL by myself for a few days. Looking forward to a couple peaceful days on the beach and then a couple days with family. I can't wait!

The boys are wonderful! Carlton will be 5 at the end of the month. We've decided to keep him in pre-k for another year and hold off on kindergarten. He really needs another year of growth. Jackson is 3.5 now. We are struggling with potty training, but today he's pp'd for me 3 times! Baby steps. They are both in swim lessons and loving it!

My hubby is continuing to do great with his weight loss and fitness. He's down nearly 50 pounds since January. He's a workout fanatic! We've started taking step class at the Y 2-3 days a week. It's fun to have something to do together!

Well, that's a cliff notes version of life the past month or so! I hope to stop by more to spend time with you all!

    Happy Monday!
    Barb
  • judy- I hate the hot spell we are in and its so humid but no rain in site. We are having to water our garden daily now.
barb- great to hear from you!! I think we are all struggling right now!

As for me..I ate my way thru the weekend.Today is a new day and I will be POP!! Rules are in place now time to follow them. Scales are way up! lots of water today!
  • I'M DONE - poor choices are a thing of the past. I also ate my way through the weekend. Saw a number on the scale this morning that frightened me. The thing is - I didn't even enjoy it while I was doing it. So why?

Food plan in place for the day.

We are having very cool weather with rain. I don't think we hit 80 yesterday with showers off and on all week. Maybe we could compromise - I'll share some cool - you share some warmth.

Barb - great to see you!
  • Hi Gals! So far, so good. I've tracked every calorie today. I just had a near run in with Cheez-its. The kids love them, but they are no longer welcome in my house. One of those foods I have a difficult time keeping out of my mouth.

Hubby and I are doing step class tonight and then will have a healthy dinner of either Subway, flat bread pizza or egg white omelets. Haven't decided yet. Depends on how long we let the kids play at the park after aerobics.

I WILL end this as a good, on plan day! I WILL! First one in too long!!!

Whoops...just looked at the clock. Gotta run!

  • Yay Barb - I too will end this as a POP day - every bite logged. Who else?
  • Yay for an on plan day! I almost forgot how good this feels! I ended the day about 1500 calories and burned about 3,000...per my Body Bugg. Hubby and I got them a month or so ago. Step class tonight was great! I'm enjoying being back into classes. Tomorrow will be a weight lifting day.

Does anyone cook with Shirataki noodles??? I tried them a while ago and they were ok. Hubby wanted to try some so tonight I experimented with them and reallly enjoyed them....I threw them in a saucpan with a teaspoon of olive oil, laughing cow, ricotta, low fat shredded cheese, peas, 2 T of bacon, red peppers. It was really good. The entire batch was just over 300 calories...for a huge dinner.

How's everyone else doing? I'm looking forward to catching back up with all you fabulous ladies!

    G'night for now...
  • Barb - I had also forgot how good it feels - about 2:00 yesterday afternoon it hit me. I ended just under 1400 calories but no exercise. I've realized while the gym and classes have been closed just how much it means to me - shouldn't mean I through my eating out the door but certainly a part of my beloved routine.

Breakfast and lunch are planned - need to formulate a dinner plan for when I'm back from the gym.

Watch out day 2 - here I come!
  • Day 1 went great. I had to alter my plan a bit but it worked out fine. It does feel good and sleep was much better without acid indigestion waking me. How quickly we forget!!
Day 2 is planned and exercise will be on the minitramp again today. THe heat and humidity is unbearable again today. Heat index is the 110 range again today. We are suppost to cool down on friday with some rain. I can hardly wait!!
Is everyone drinking enough water? I know I had even let drinking water slide to the back burner.
  • Good Morning Lovely Ladies!

It's a HOT one here too! Around 100 today. I'm working at home and plan to hit the gym shortly for a workout before lunch.

I made breakfast pizza this morning...1 egg, 1 egg white, ham, onion, reduced fat cheese and dijionnaise....all mixed up and spread on a FlatOut light...bake at 425 for 12 minutes. It was delish!

Lunch will likely be Subway. Dinner is going to be pulled pork on whole wheat buns with veggies. I just put Hungry Girl's recipe in the crock pot. Each serving is 200 calories, bun is 120. I'm hopeful for a good dinner!

Guess I should do some work....Catch ya later!
  • Oh day 2 feels wonderful - included a great workout with my trainer! 1523 calories - all good choices and recorded in TDP.

  • I haven't forgotten you all -- been real busy!
  • day 2 didnt go so well for me...I didnt exercise at all. Even though my calories were on the spot they were too carb heavy.Today will be better!!
  • Morning!! I've been doing okay on food but haven't exercised in 2 days! Oh no! I will be on vacation next week and hope to get more exercise walking around and hiking!

I have a trainer appt today, however, so that should be good.
