This group is for those dealing with the challenges of being fit when you have a significant amount of weight to lose which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.
Hello everyone! I feel like I'm ready to tackle weight loss full steam ahead. I know what I need to do, and feel like everything's in place to get it done!!
I had a great day yesterday -- good food and exercise! Today I will walk to work (2.5 miles each way). I have lunch out with a friend, but a place I know there are good options for me.
I acheived a small milestone on Sunday with my bicycle.
A couple years ago I bought a bike. I haven't used it very much because my stamina and balance isn't always the greatest, and I'm terrified of riding in traffic. I also can't bike very far, because I'm in such poor shape.
Sunday I went for a bike ride around our apartment complex. The longest I've ever taken. Ok, it was mostly around the connected parking lots, but it did involve riding on streets that cars could have traveled on (ok, I looked to make sure no actual cars were in sight, but it's the principle of the thing).
My goal is to get to the oriental grocery nearest our house, and then to a larger grocery store a couple blocks further (which I can reach through side streets without much traffic).
I can already bike the distance to these stores (at least the one way there), but I'm a little more apprehensive about learning to tolerate even mild traffic. When I hear or see a car approaching, I panic. Usually I pick days and times when the roads are deserted, so that I've got the roads mostly to myself.
I've made progress. I don't just circle the garages of our parking lot anymore (now I circle the garages in several of the parking lots surrounding the buildings in our apartment complex).
I feel like a goofy kid, like the world's biggest 8 years old (and not a cool 8 year old - a fat, dorky 8 year old), but I'm not sure I was this excited about learning to ride a bike when I was a kid.
Yay for the contagious great mood of everyone. I have the POP fever too. Went to the gym this morning - had a great workout. Gonna stay on plan cuz the scale at the gym had me down a couple pounds! Woo Hoo! Lets keep it off!
What does the extra P in POP stand for? Perfectly On Plan? Perpetually On Plan? Practically on Plan? Procrastinating on Plan? I give!
BTW - I think we should all be goofy 8 year olds more often! Good for you for doing what felt right and not worrying about how you felt you looked doing it!
"Different is heartache, Different is Pain, but I'd rather be different than be the same!"
Mindset firmly in place for a POP day. Meals planned - will execute the plan. I will be back to report a POP day! I'm concerned about some old behaviors that have barged back in - have to reign them in.
