Is there a reason you're going low fat? I know a decade ago "low fat" was all the rage but I think it's been mostly proven to not really making as much sense as "want to have less fat so I'll eat less fat" first sounds.

Your body needs fats every day - good healthy fats like olive oil or the fats in almonds or salmon (as examples). If you go low fat your body doesn't just use your fat stores for your daily fat needs - it's just not that simple.

Whether you calorie count (I've lost 80 pounds this year calorie counting and getting lots of healthy fats) or go low carb or some other diet represented here there will be healthy fats included in your diet.

Good Luck whatever path you choose!

I did the low fat thing back in the day when it was all the rage. And I did lose about 70lbs. The thing is, I STARVED the entire time. Now a lot of it was my fault, because I was eating tons of fat-free and very low fat carbs, and not getting near enough protein. But still, I would literally lie on the couch with my eyes closed dreaming and fantasizing about food every evening, just willing myself not to eat. What a misery that was! One week in New Orleans eating whatever I wanted because I was "on vacation", and that was the end of that! Steadily gained all the weight back plus a whole lot more.

This time, I am eating a very balanced diet full of protein, fruits and veggies, very few simple carbs, and plenty of healthy fat. Not only are my meals delicious and so, so nutritious, but I am totally satisfied at the end of the day when the eating is done.

Just posting to give you my experience. Go ahead and give whatever you think will work for you a try, but please feel free to re-think it if you are lying there starving like you could eat a horse. There is no need to suffer miserably with hunger to do this -- I swear!

BTW, post wherever you are interested, and read, read, read. There is a treasure-trove of information all at your fingertips here!!
