Unhappy Help! Starting over Again

I haven't been on this board I think since 2007. Anyway today is day 1 of my new lifestyle change. The last time I was here I was about 346 pounds. Now I am at 369. I know that I can change but I noticed that when I start to lose weight ad feel good about myself, I stop. I completely sabatoge myself. I am hoping that it won't be the case and that since I know that I can talk myself out of it. Anyway I live in Alaska will be moving back to sunny southern california. I fly in 28 days and I want to be able to fit in the seat on the airplane. I feel like that realistically I could lose about 30 pounds because I am starting out so heavy. In my fairy tail world I would like to be about 60 pounds lighter in 28 days. I am trying to not be discouraged with the realistic facts of weight loss. Anyway just expressing things going on in my head

Hey sadiqa,

Welcome back!

Please join us on the weekly thread so we can get to know you better.

I don't want to be discouraging, but I think your goal is a bit unrealistic and possibly unhealthy. People normally do not lose a pound a day unless they've had dr-supervised liquid diets or WLS (weight loss surgery); and one of those diets is nearly impossible to do alone LOL.. I only say this because I've had WLS and had to do a 5-day liquid diet prior to surgery. I was ready to eat someone's arm off. I would encourage you to eat in the healthiest way possible for the next 28 days! Come to our little corner thread and let us know how you are doing.

Hugs,
Ratkity

I agree with Ratkity. You may have set an impossible goal for yourself. I hope that you reach your goal, but it is virtually impossible to lose that much weight in a month!

I started out at my heaviest in January, and I lost 17 pounds the first month by eating healthy foods and exercising 3-4 times per week.

Best wishes!

Welcome!

Don't worry too much about the weight loss goal yet.

Focus on achieving all the "support" goals first -- better groecry shopping, food prep, start exercise, food log, etc.

Once you get your baseline sorted out, then you can plan on where to take it from there.

A.

I really appreciate the encouragement guys. I was looking at going about it in an unhealthy manner. I really have to learn balance and moderation. That is hard for me cause I am an all or nothing person.

I can relate the fear of fitting in the airplane seat though. I am required to occasionally travel with my job and avoided air travel for the longest time because of the fear of not being able to fit in the seat. And the plane I had to travel in was a commuter "tuna can" both ways. Here's a couple of tips:
1. Find out the type of the plane you are traveling in and then Google airline seat size. There are several sites that will tell you how big the seats are.
2. Check with the airline to see if there are any recommended seats for the bigger travelers and see if you can be assigned to that seat.
3. I bought a seat belt extender, since I knew I could fit into the seat, but did not want the embarassment of asking for an extender. They are available on line as well.
4. I thought by having an aisle seat, I would have more room since I could lean out into the aisle. Unfortunately, I just got in the way of the drink cart and the people going to the bathroom. On my way home, I ended up in an window seat (because they did not have an extender and a particular seat had a longer seatbelt) and found with the space between the seat and the window allowed for more comfortable trip.

I was 332lb when I traveled and it was not as bad as I had feared it would be (and believe me, I lost a lot of sleep worrying). It will be fine - best of wishes.

Sadiga, maybe I'm crazy, but I think you can lose at least 25, I lost 24 lbs in 30 days in April when I changed to a Primal lifestyle http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ at least its something to look towards, don't put a number on what you want to lose, just work hard and buckle down and do it and see where it leads. You can at least get healthier in 30 days, who knows how much weight loss that will be.
