Jacquie: Glad to see you posintg..I miss ya went you dont.

Sharon: oh no about your dad...i hope things get better soon.

Keeper: I hope to try spin bike someday. If my knees will let me

heatherb: glad to see you back. No i have not seen kayley but think of her often
  • Freaking TOM can pack its bag and go away hate that it always makes me feel tried and then when it leaves all my energy comes back. I plan on hiding out inside today the pollen levels are extremely high today can already feel it in my head it's clouded up. Seriously, whoever told my boys that waking up at 5am was a good idea needs to be slapped. It's time for another cup of coffee.

    hbieber2006~ You can do it!

azcyn~ Oh, the spin bike is awesome I just love mine, and it's not bad the knees either at least it's not been on mine.
  • Voodoo - *HUGS* Hang in there. Sorry to hear about your Dad.

CYN - I miss you guys too. Miss hearing about your quilts! And yeah, you know I get weepy when TOM is around too. lol...I like to eat chocolate and weep. That works for me! lol

Hbieber - You can do it! I know how you feel, I haven't been eating that well either, in fact the past few months EW....I'm actually getting excited about food again. Perhaps since it is Spring now and I know that the farmer's markets will be full end of June early July! That is exciting!

As for me, struggling with some sugar addiction I think. I really want sweets, but not things that are too sweet. Like chocolates and things...I dunno...it is an odd thing as I'm not a person that loves sweets. I mean I like them, but I'm incredibly picky. Going to see how next week goes with only natural sweets and go from there.

Saw a raw food recipe for "raw popcorn" which is basically cauliflower chopped with stuff and either eaten raw or dehydrated. I think I'll try it raw, but I'm not a cauliflower fan, but I hear it is good for you so I'll try it out.

Going to have to make a raw food cheesecake this coming week for a get together and I think I'm going to make it a berry one as the strawberries have been atrocious lately. I can't wait for strawberry season!

Weight, unknown...which sounds kind of cool...refusing to weigh until the end of April. Today I have my pottery lessons so I'm excited about that...though I hope my jeans fit! lol...

    *HUGS*
  • Greetings my Peeps!

I'm hoping the weather holds out and BikerChick can come out and play this weekend. The pollen is killling me!

Jac, why isn't popcorn raw? It's just corn kernels that have been dried to 12% moisture (optimal popping moisture). Natural popcorn (not in a microwave bag) has no other treatments. Just curious. Dang, now I want popcorn.

    Hugs to all!

  • I think it's because of the cooking process. Generally raw isn't heated above 115F, and popcorn wouldn't pop at that temp.
  • Rat Kitten - Neonwildflower is correct, it is about the temperature that something is heated and even though there is a debate about that within the raw community (meaning what temperature is considered *cooked* versus raw), for popcorn to pop it has to be heated to a temperature that deems it cooked.

What I do is just put about two tablespoons of kernels in a paper bag and then I heat it up in the microwave (I can't have regular store bought microwave popcorn as I'm allergic to that dust or the fumes, whatever that buttery stuff is...). It isn't considered raw though.

I guess for me if I can find a way to like cauliflower then I'm gonna try it, but I don't think I'm going to get that popcorn flavor lol. I tend to like my popcorn with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper lol. Very basic.
  • Ohhhhh! Didn't know that about the raw thing and temps. I had to look up the temperature that popcorn pops in a popper or stove, it's around 396F. Thanks for the info!

    Hugs,

  • It's such an interesting way of living... my coworker is a raw vegan and that's the rule of thumb he uses, under 115, but it's good to know that it varies among individuals. Someday I want to try making a raw cheesecake, just because it sounds so "out there" but I've heard it can be so good! My coworker brought me some raw vegan chocolates once, and they were divine. Then again... anything chocolate... le yum.

I'm raw food/veggie, sometimes cooked, sometimes not...I eat raw honey, so that means I'm not a "vegan," but I don't eat meat, diary (if i can help it), eggs, cheese...etc...

I make raw cheesecake when I go to family events, in fact I'm making one this week. Going to play around with my recipe and make a berry/lime/mousse one. It takes like, literally, 5 minutes to whip together, another 5 for the nuts to be processed and smushed into a spring form pan. Easy...no baking, put it in the freezer to set...done.

Over the holidays I made a raw blackberry & apple pie crumb topped cheesecake...it was gone in like 5 minutes with the usual "I can't believe this isn't real cheesecake!" lol. People love it! I also do a berry tart with a cashew/mango/banana/lemon custard filling. That one is a hit too. Love raw desserts...they really are easy, fun, and well they taste darn good!

  • Howdy all..

Well we did great at the yardsale this weekend. Hubby sold everything he really wanted to. That is less we have to move.

Those that know me know about my son and his EX and the baby. Well I guess they have been talking again for about 2 weeks. Last saturday they were going to go out to eat and talk. Well Thursday he picked her up from school and they went to the mall and hung out. No the baby didnt go . She basically told him that she regreted everything that she did. That she still loves him and that she cant wait to turn 18 and be with him. She said her mother is the one that made her do everything she did and she did it because she was scared.

Well my son dropped her off at home and her mother seen them in the car together. Basically she is grounded til she is 18. They took her cell phone. My son said she has snuck on the computer to talk to him on FB a few times. I am sure that will stop soon. She told him that her mom said she is nothing but a disgrace to the family name and that is all she will ever be. IF they are still talking in July when she turns 18, I have a feeling she will leave and move with us. I am not getting my hopes up just yet cause I know how teen girls can change their minds so quickly.

We have got to see pictures out the baby, Ayva. She is just darling. I hope things can work out with them. If she gets away from her mother they might have a chance.

I am still packing. Moving on the 28th and I can not wait!!
  • Cyn-I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you and your son.

I'm done with school for the semester now. Don't have grades yet. I'm trying to catch up on stuff around the house that got put to the side while I was working. My knee's been a bit cranky so I'm looking forward to the pool tomorrow. It took me a long time to figure out what worked for me diet and exercise wise in Florida, and I just haven't quite got it figured out here yet. I've got several pieces in place, but can't seem to find that one elusive piece of the puzzle. I just keep trying different things until I find what works.
  • Hi guys,

Just stopping in to say hello. It took me a long time to recover from gall bladder surgery, not sure why but Doc thinks it could be because of the blood thinners. Feeling much better now and starting to walk 2 miles a day and hoping to up it after a week to 3 and so on until I reach 5 a day then will re-evaluate.

Been really just not focused and wandering around (in my thoughts) Needing to come back here and refocus on getting back to my lowest of 211 and then downward from there. I know I can do it. I just need to focus and do it.

Hope everyone is doing well. I have been gone so long there isn't a way for me to catch up so I am not even going to try.

    Hugs to everyone and blessings,
    Annie
  • I am new here, but wanted to say hello and reading some of your stories already I have found VERY inspiring... so far since the beginning of the year I have lost 41#, but with a toddler in the house and a full time job, it is hard to get time to workout. I generally try to get 45 minutes a night in on the elliptical we have. Diet has fallen squarely on my shoulders as I am the only one who cooks and does the grocery shopping. My husband is also trying to loose weight, but holds me accountable for how many calories he is getting. Stress is about killing me and I have no time to do the things I enjoy if I want to get my workout in. So I am hoping to get continued motivation from all the wonderful posters here.

I hope to get to know you all!
  • STOP! New week, new thread!!
