    to the February exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

    In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

    In 2009 the 300+ club broke our 2007 record and exercised for 216,854 minutes. I believe in 2010 we can break that record!! But it's going to take a lot of work from a lot of people to get it done! Please join us!

    To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.

    We exercised a stunning 24,105 minutes in January (a new MONTHLY record!!!)
  • Okay, I am going to set my exercise goal -- 900 min for the month. Anyone else?
  • I'm in!! My goal is 1200 min. for Feb. (& to remember to keep track)
  • I made my exercise goal in jan.Its been a long time since I made my goal!!
    I am shooting for 1000 again.
  • Going for 1200 minutes again this month, I am going to be doing more pool activity including more 100 length (2.5km) swims, and also my usual dog walking, so should be ok...

  • Well im new to the exercise thread but im going to throw my goal in. Im going to try to get in 200 minutes for the month. I edited this to be more reasonable for me to start with.

  • I'm gonna be brave and go for 1000! I met my goal of 500 last month which was only for a few weeks of January. I will make my 1000 goal next month!
  • Ok, for January I did 2502 in 31 days, I'll set my goal at 2500 in the 28 days of February
  • 30 minutes treadmill

    Group total-0+30=30
  • 840 minutes is my goal for this month
  • 30 min treadmill & 35 min weights

    Group Total 30 + 65= 95
  • 75 minutes shoveling ice and snow

    75+ 95 = 170
  • O.K. Heather, I'm in for February. I have some serious back, neck, and shoulder issues, but I'll do what I can. Right now I can only walk about 15 minutes per day, but I just bought a fitness ball to play with so I'm gonna set my goal at a total of 420 minutes for February.
