300+ Weekly Thread #1245

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

Happy Monday peeps.

Well...I am surviving TOM and doing okay. I am gearing up to do the exercise thing, and yes I will participate in the exercise thread :D, this week. I had so many errands to run and cleaning to do today, that I can't focus on a routine for today. I will be strutting my stuff tomorrow though :D...

Just got back from the store, got loads of veggies. :D YAY!

Weight is down...we'll see how the week goes. *HUGS*

playfullyme 01-11-2010 04:40 PM

Doing good today. Still focused on healthy eating and healthy habits. I went to the store again and got my chicken (on sale!!) and lots of veggies! Did 5 minutes on the Wii. Taking the rest of the day off as I have to babysit tonight. My muscles are SORE! It feels good.

Debbie54 01-11-2010 04:44 PM

Hi Chiquitas!

playfullyme, I hate when someone comes in and tells you what and what you cant do. They don't know whats best for us but at least she is paying attention to you and thinks she is helping you. All you can do is listen. Yeah, I cant play on my wii fit either right now cuz I weigh to much....but hopefully in a week or two I will be able to.YAY for us on our mind changes and making it thru the weekend...thats HUGE!!!
BTW, can we still use the wii fit even if we weigh too much for it?

Jacquie, sounds like you're off to a good start for the week!

I have a friend coming over tonight who wants to start working out so we'll probably do DDR to start with. Its fun. I'm hoping she'll be over every other day. We're trying to get one of her friends to come over that has a really hard time with her weight. I guess she was skinny in high school and then gained alot of weight and now is afraid to even go outside because she doesnt want to run into someone she knows and have them see how big she got.. Its so sad to feel that way.
Been doing fine on eating. I did have some dates rolled in walnuts and sorta went a bit over board on those but still it was a healthier choice then the usual ones I've made. Just gotta keep thinkin' portion control...portion control...portion control!!

kayleystar 01-11-2010 10:45 PM

Hello ladies! I'm back after that family emergency with my Stepdad.

And I'm happy to report that he's no longer in critical condition, and in fact, he's HOME as of tonight! He bounced back quite from the brink of death. Thanks to everyone for your positive vibes/prayers and whatnot.

It's a new week, and I'm looking to be around here now that things have calmed down for the time being! Hope you all had a wonderful Monday.

CatherineM 01-11-2010 11:44 PM

Haven't been posting, and have been doing poorly. One of these days, I'm going to figure out the relationship between the two. I didn't make it to the pool today because I couldn't get up. I couldn't get up because I stayed up too late. I stayed up too late because I allowed myself to get hunger and fatigue mixed up. So instead of going to bed, I stayed up eating. That won't happen tonight. I got my house clean, and all my stuff ready for school tomorrow and the rest of the week, and I'm going to start my week over again tomorrow, the right way this time.

So I'm off to bed, and hoping for another fresh start tomorrow.

playfullyme 01-12-2010 12:15 AM

Debbie - the only thing I have found is the running. I am SURPRISED I can do it!

It must have had a glitch though because I took the extra feet off and it worked. So, IDK? not quite sure about what's going on there.

azcyn 01-12-2010 09:40 AM

morning all..

I am here reading. Last weekend was so busy! I watched the cardinals game at my sisters. I just LOVE football!

Working on my doll. I almost have the whole body stuffed. I must admit..she will look better with clothes on lol.

I go to the dr tomorrow. We shall see what she says. :)

Have a great day all!

hbieber2006 01-12-2010 09:49 AM

Good morning ladies....sorry i havent been here in awhile but my computer at home is down so i am at my moms house today cause i have to do my unemployment cause i can get on the internet with my wii but for some reason it wont let me post so i wont be posting much after this...as of this morning i am down to 283 at least it is a loss but i still have 3 lbs to go to get to my tracker weight and i havent been exercising and i have lost the motivation to want to exercise..can anyone help me and tell me what i can do to get remotivated? I dont want to lose what i have already lost and gain it all back and i cant afford to cause the last time i went to the doctor my blood pressure was high and they are gonna check it again on feb 6th and if it is still high they will probably put me on medication so now i really have to keep up with losing weight but ever since the holidays i have lost the motivation..any hints how to get it back? I have been more active playing the wii and stuff but that is not enough.

oops i just realized that i changed my ticker weight last week when i started weighing on tuesday so i have to change it
Well, gotta run i will check in later before i leave my moms
Heather

Jacquie668 01-12-2010 10:26 AM

playfullyme - Sounds great! :D I would love to try the Wii, but I'm stuck with DVDs on my out-of-date Xbox lol.

Debbie - Dates and walnuts are mega healthy. Especially if it is raw walnuts and those big dates. I've been eating raw honey left and right (raw honey is much more sweet than the processed version in my opinion) and that has helped me a lot with my sweet cravings. I don't like overly sweet things, so having a bit at a time makes me happy. I did buy some nuts this week, raw almonds and pecans, so I can possibly make something like a berry crumble or something. :D I ate that last week and still lost weight lol. I'm hoping it isn't a fluke.

Kayley - Wooo...glad he is home :D I hope he is on the road to recovery now!

Catherine - I've been staying up too late and sleeping too late as well. I just can't seem to sleep...maybe it is the weather? lol...I know of many people who are having the same issues!

Cyn - Didn't now you make dolls, sounds interesting. :D I want to do polymer clay figures, but I never have the time to dive in. lol...

HeatherB - I lost motivation a few months ago....the thing is recently I dove back in and not with exercise right away. I focus on food, getting that right, then I focus on exercise. So, to get back into the swing of things I tend to focus on food and activity (going out, walking around, etc). This week I'm wanting to exercise and get back to that...I feel like I have food set and I'm happy so I think it is time to start getting myself moving beyond activity. *HUGS*

******
Well, not the best day this morning, but that is okay. Woke up to an angry BF, so whatever. He is a jerk half of the time... My life is too complicated *sighs*...

Anyhow, I got up late, big surprise there....and scrambled to make a green smoothie. This morning it is bright green, which is nice...it tastes nice as well. Mixed frozen fruits, banana, and spinach. Breakfast of champions...pfffftda lol. I'm working on a site design for a client...we'll see how that goes.

So far I'm doing okay with eating. Last night dinner wasn't that spectacular...i made this spaghetti squash thing and I didn't like it really. I ate half and tossed the rest. Meh. BF doesn't think I eat much, but I was full, so whatever. I'm going to have a big salad for lunch with HOT PEPPERS, which is my new obsession. I have them with everything. :D

I haven't had bread, rice, pasta, processed dinners, or take-out since Jan 1st and my weight has gone down a lot. I'm losing around half a pound a day? Maybe? My pants fit better, I have a little more energy, and I'm getting into the swing of things. Trying new things, trying not to get bored with veggies veggies veggies. I've been doing half raw and half cooked and to be honest it seems fine to do that. We'll see how the rest of the month goes. I also want to add juice in there more...*rolls eyes* SO MANY THINGS I WANT TO DO! LOL!

I have a pottery class on Friday. :D Private lessons yay! Plus I have two family visits...which is a bit of a pain, but whatever. It is a birthday thing on Saturday, so I was thinking of making raw chocolate mousse, which is made with avocados...dun dun DUNNNN! :D Haha...sounds good, I might give it a go.

Blah...back to work. *HUGS*

erinkman1 01-12-2010 05:08 PM

Kayley ~ That is wonderful news! Hope he has a speedy recovery!

It has been a very long two days here. Worker 12 hour shifts back to back and I am exhausted! I am so happy to have tonight off before I head back for another 4 days. Been able to continue eating well and have been drinking water like a fish. Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Debbie54 01-12-2010 05:39 PM

hi Ladies,

Jacquie, I used to make little beads for kids made of polymer clay. It can be addicting!! I was selling them on Etsy and was doing pretty good. I just ran out of ideas for beads so I quit. Try it though, you'll really like it.

Catherine, sorry you had such a bad night but it sounds like you're going to bounce right back and get back to exercise and eating right.

Kayley, YAY!! So glad to hear he's home! That's great news.

As for me, I had a friend come over last night and we did the DDR. It was fun but I had to do it on beginner for her and you really dont get to move that much but it was more movement than I've done in months. Today I'm starting the Couch to 5K Conservative so I'm sort of excited about that but just hope I can complete the whole thing instead of dropping out like I do with everything else.

My son is going to go into the Navy and I want to be down some pounds so when I see him at his graduation, I'll look better than I do now..

Have a wonderful day!

dessi 01-12-2010 07:27 PM

Hi everyone. Hope I'm not busting in on yall's conversations...lol.

Kayley, I'm glad everything is ok with your stepdad. Those family emergencies can really mess with your mind.

Catherine, I hope you had a better day today!

Cyn, its cool that you make dolls...my mamaw used to makes these big crochet dresses for barbies...they were beautiful. I just make afghans and quilts.

Heather, I'm going to be praying that you get your motivation back. I've been on bp meds for a while, and trust me, you feel like crap the first few days. I'm hoping to get off them soon. Maybe that can help you to get motivated, cuz you don't want them!

Jaquie, I wish there was a pottery class around here! I'm fascinated with it! You're so lucky!

Debbie, What's DDR (prolly a stupid question)? And you don't look old enough in your pic to have a son going in the Navy!

I got some Reebok easytones today, and I love them. My blisters aren't screaming quite as loudly now, thank God. I walked my mile, and I can definitely tell the difference. I kinda messed up at lunch, and had a pot roast melt, but i'm still under 1500 cals, and I'm having salad for supper, so should stay around 1700 which is what I shoot for. The really good news for me is my Mamaw had a great day. She was happy and smiling, and never once did she cry...makes me wanna cry, I'm so glad!

Have a great evening, ladies!

Dessi

chattykathy 01-12-2010 08:11 PM

Debbie- I found out that you can trick the Wii fit board if you put towels under it. (I have no idea why this works but it does.) It makes the weight tracker inaccurate but it unlocks all the games. The board is made to handle up to 600 lbs, because of the weight and pressure that jumping puts on it. So, it won't break. It's just the software. Mine says I'm only 224 lbs :-)

Hi, kayleystar and CatherineM! kaylestar, I hope your stepdad has a speedy recovery.

Cyn- I hope everything went well with the Dr.

Heather- Maybe try doing something you like that happens to be active. Tennis, bowling, golf, ski, racket ball, roller skating or something like that. Congrats on that 50 lb loss!

Jacquie- Are you a web designer? I'm a web developer. Wow! No bread, rice, pasta or processed. You're losing half a pound a day? Very cool! So, are you just eating meat and veggies? Inquiring minds want to know what you're eating.

Dessi- It's so touching that you take care of your Mamaw and Papaw. I'm glad she had a good day.

This is week two for me and I'm feeling really good. I'm already feeling the difference with just a little bit of regular exercise and can't wait to get to do more and more-- I have a long list of sports and hobbies I want to try that I haven't been able to do in years. I'm down 3.5 lbs my first week. I'm trying to prepare myself for my inevitable plateau-- my usual pattern is loose a lot the first few weeks and then plateau. I plan to live healthy no matter what the outcome because I'm worth it!

OhioU Chick 01-12-2010 08:55 PM

I feel as if I am falling off the bandwagon here. I started back to school last week, and I don't get home till like 7 on a couple nights a week. I also am only cooking for me right now, cause my husband don't get home till after 10 at night. We used to eat that late before, but I told him no more. I don't feel like cooking and making the mess when it is only for me. I have been trying to eat healthy but it doesn't seem to be working. Ever since we moved last month my arms have been hurting, so that makes me not want to do the Wii. I do not have any of the exercise games yet....but they are to come. I just am not sure what one I want to buy first.

I hope to get back to where I was.....there is good stuff in my fridge.....but the bad stuff calls my name.

Amy

chattykathy 01-12-2010 10:57 PM

Hang in there, Amy! This too shall pass. I find that I do best when I plan ahead for meals. I like to cook a large batches and freeze part of it. So right now I have single servings of salmon patties, salisbury steak and chili in my freezer. I also have cooked ground beef that I can pull out for quick meals. That way I don't have to cook as often. I know women who cook a bunch of meals at the beginning of the month and then do very little cooking after that. One large batch of hamburger can make several different kinds of meals, for example. Maybe that would work for you.

The Wii comes with the basic sports. I'm in horrible shape so even just bowling is good for getting me moving. I just got Just Dance for Wii and am LOVING it. You might like it.

Keep up the good work! :cheer:

Ratkitten 01-13-2010 12:10 AM

Hiya Peeps,

Well, I had one good positive today... I resurrected the bricked laptop! I can't believe I did it. Between the bad hd and it not wanting to boot the recovery disks (or anything else) I was at wits end! I forced it to boot off a flash drive that had the first recovery disk copied onto it. First time it got corrupted and on a whim, re-made the boot flash drive. I got it to read the recovery cds!!! Now I have 2 laptops. Well, 3 working ones if you count the older laptop that I had to replace the inverter in (video thing). It now has 70 windows updates to load.. eep!

Hugs to all!
Ratkity

princesspuffypants 01-13-2010 01:42 AM

hi friends! im here!!

Things have been SO CRAZY in my life, both good and bad.

in bad news, my grandma has cancer. its all over and theres nothing they can do about it. the good thing is, she had a stroke 5 years ago so her short term memory is shot, so she has no idea anythings wrong, even if i tell her all day long. so i dont tell her. why make her feel sick. she doesnt drive, she just hangs out around the house and eats all day, even tho shes only 114lbs.

in good news, i am no longer on probation at school. i was admitted on probation because my completion ratio was awful at my old school. i really like my school and the program is awesome. we met richard donner (director of Goonies), Bryan Singer (xmen and house) and Richard Dreyfus. so, pretty awesome!!

I also started 2 new businesses. I am a representative of Brown Bag Party, which sells romance products and I started a cupcake Business.

i know! how could i have a cupcake business and lose weight? i actually lost 10 lbs, im really active and moving around a lot, and i dont want cake. almost ever. lol. having it in my face every day (almost). knowing its readily available doesnt make it special so i dont want it. lol.

I am also working on a few other projects. a reality show and 2 films, along with getting a new job as the social media manager for a PR company, and the semester starting back up on Feb 1. so things are crazy!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! i look forward to getting back in the swing of things

voodoo1 01-13-2010 06:26 AM

Hi, sorry I was MIA, back was so bad even sitting at pc was painful. Boys were off school Moday due to a tummy bug, which I caught Monday night...sigh... Tuesday I kept them off to make sure they were recovered properly. Luckily after physio on Monday (ultrasound therapy & massage) I'm able to move a bit,:carrot: even bend a little and the pain is bearable. Today the boys are off school coz of black ice:( so I'm still a bit weak with two fully well boys and a husband in bed on nights, trying to keep them busy AND quiet!!!lol
Debbie, did I say how GREAT IT IS TO 'SEE' YOU on here again? I missed you. WtG on the Wii, my sis has one & really enjoyed it, til she got a 'tube' which she kicks & punches, lol she pretends it's her ex, lol! xxxxxxxx
Luan, hi!!!! Sorry about your Grandma, I suppose her memory loss is a blessing as you said, I hope you're getting help/support with her. WTG on the new college, businesses AND meeting famous people! Are you on W/W or trying something new? I'm trying another low carb meal replacement, monitored by my pharmacist. xxxxxxx
Hi to Jacquie, Ratkitty-NO idea what you were on about but sounds fun, lol!!!!!- & everyone else I misssed. I have to keep the boys quiet so bye for now..

Jacquie668 01-13-2010 09:19 AM

Debbie - Beads sounds like loads of fun. I was interested in, I'm going to say it wrong, lamp fire beading.... Loved those little things with the glass. I really should get into the clay scene, I have loads of things I want to do. It isn't that expensive...I also want to do mosiacs, but that is a bit out of my price range at the moment. Perhaps soon...

Dessi - The new shoes sound great. I need to find a new pair, vegan friendly though, that isn't going to break the bank. Still looking...I really hate Payless...the last pair I ordered online and they were valued at $160, but since they were being discontinued haha...i got them for like $60 lol. The thing is, I'm kind of at that point where I have to try on everything and I think getting a shoe that fits better is more ideal. Besides I have ONE pair of sneakers. ONE! lol...

ChattKathy - I am a web designer/developer/illustrator/inspiring artist....I'm still working on my web site, which should be up soon. I start it, then get busy with other things, but now I need it up for clients and yadda yadda. :D I'll probably send a shout out to ya'll when it is finally up. Been a long time, road to recovery in my life, but I put it off and off...procrastination is my ultimate enemy. As for my diet, I don't eat meat, dairy, eggs...though sometimes dairy does find its way in, usually by accident. I try to avoid it at all costs...I eat veggies, nuts, raw and vegan. I do enjoy raw honey, which makes me more of a vegetarian since vegans do not eat honey. My main problem is eating enough, I get full very fast, so I'm trying to find creative ways of making myself get enough to fuel my body. Fruit and green smoothies, salads, veggies cooked/roasted, hummus...which I've found I CAN enjoy, in moderation. :D I have an addiction to hummus lol. LOVE IT!

Amy - You sound like me. I often, now I'm not saying you make excuses I'm just saying I do, make excuses so that I don't have to cook. What I do now is focus on a simple meal for me. For example, I chop up some veggies (even ahead of time) and roast them or I simply use one frying pan to cook them. I barely make a mess for myself because I have to cook two meals now. If I make a salad, I use one bowl for my veggies I chop. I try to make things practical because getting me to cook in my tiny god forsaken kitchen is HARD, but finding creative ways like "only dirtying up one pan and bowl" makes things ideal for me personally. Another idea is to make something that will last for a few days. Like I make tortilla soup for my BF, but it is vegan and has soy. A big pot of soup lasts for 3 days and I store it in a microwave safe container, so I don't even dirty up a pot the next two days. :D Just how I think about things because getting me to cook when I'm tired, cranky, or just plain fed up with my kitchen is HARD lol. As for eating late, yeah I can't do it either. My BF wants to eat like at 8 or 9...too late for me! Hang in there Amy....it sounds like you are a bit burnt out with the move and things. Take a deep breath and take one step at a time. You can do it! *HUGS*

Ratkitty - Awesome, three laptops. WOoosh I wish I had one so I could lounge in bed and do things like watch movies or window shop for clothes hahahahaha. Yeah I so don't need a laptop, but still..i wants! lol

Princesspuffypants -
WB! Sorry to hear about the bad news. :( *HUGS* But good to hear about all the good things. I think a cupcake business and losing weight is BRILLIANT! The truth is, you'll be focusing on so many cupcakes that you'll get sick of it. lol... "not another cupcake order" hahahahaha... It works! *HUGS* Sorry to hear about your grandmother though.

Sharon - WB! *HUGS* I know your life is crazy right now, I'm hope you are doing a bit better.:hug:

******
I'm weighing myself daily and writing down my weights in my planner...today 264, the lowest I've ever been. So, I'm hoping that things keep going down down down. :D I'm just glad to be here and not where I was. I'm going to eat something more substantial this morning...yesterday I was very bad...I didn't eat enough in the morning and what happened was when I went to do my workout, I got dizzy and almost passed out. I had to stop 15 minutes in...I just couldn't do it. It wasn't the normal "sweating" and things... So I ate a big salad quickly, but it was totally my fault. I was enjoying a smoothie, but I need something more so on days I get up late I'll have to have a salad or something, then have smoothies later on as snacks.

I also got on the phone yesterday, so I forgot to eat, I HAVE to not to do that. I always forget when I'm busy...no more. Trying hard to remember. This morning fruit and salad stuff. YAY! :D

I hope everyone is well. Working on a web site, not my own, but my own will be up and online soon. Yeah yeah, I say that a lot, but this time it is true hahaha.

:hug::hug::hug::hug:

dessi 01-13-2010 11:13 AM

PrincesPP - I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother, it must be devastating. I care for my grandparents, and they are more precious to me now than ever. I'll keep both of you in my prayers.

Jaquie - I only have one pair of sneakers at a time, too, because I wear them until they fall apart! The last pair was rubbing blisters because they were 3 years old and the sole was flopping and the insole was completely gone. So, I don't mind spending some dough to get a new pair every two to three years. I tried on the sketchers Shape Ups, but it was like wearing platform shoes! Not a good idea if your ankles are made of glass and your commonly known as the clumiest woman on the face of the planet...lol! I would definitely hurt myself in those things. These Reeboks are just like wearing regular sneakers, except that after you walk in them, you can REALLY feel it in from your waist down. I love, love, love them!

Today I weighed in at 307.2! YES! :carrot: I started off at 311 six days ago, so thats 4 lbs in six days! AAAAAhhhhheeeeee! I'm so excited, can ya tell? That's exactly what I need to keep me motivated; results. I hope all you girls have a great day! :D

chattykathy 01-13-2010 01:55 PM

Jacquie- I can absolutely relate! My personal and business sites are a year or more outdated and at the bottom of my priority list, under clients and currently paying sites. Please do post when you get your site up. I can't do the vegan thing. I applaud you for it! What do you put in your green smoothies and how many calories are they?

Luan- Sorry to hear about your grandma. It's probably a blessing she doesn't know, like you said. I love Richard Dreyfus. So cool that you met him and the other guys. Speaking of Goonies, it's the 25th anniversary of Goonies-- filmed just an hour away from where I live. Wow! You really are busy! (BTW, I live where Twilight was filmed and have connections up here. So, if you ever need anything Twilight related let me know ;-)

Hi Sharon! I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you have your hands full for the day.

dessi- Congrats, on the weight loss!!!

azcyn 01-13-2010 05:02 PM

I am here..reading

Today went to the Dr. She did my pap..oooh Joy. She ordered a mamagram..oh joy! She said alot of insurances wont let you til age 40, but mine its ok. I had one many years ago..but turns out I just have lumpy breats lol Dr said she wants me to take the probiotics..acidulphilis sorry I know i am spelling that wrong. She is switching me to previcid for the GERD. She is also sending e to a gasterologist..which i am glad cause as some of yall know my other one was horrible! She said it looks like I have a little irritation in my cervix..then she said maybe its a cyst. Asked if i had any pain "down there" i said no. She said we will see what the pap says. I know women have cysts all the time and dont even know it

She also suggested YOGA for me. She said..im not talking roll out the mat and pose into things you can do..LOL it made me laugh. She said about breathing and learning to sit up straight..said it would help. So I really think I MIGHT try that. She said since I sit all day at a computer..I really should be doing that.

Today I played hookie from work and got some sewing done no my doll dress. She is turning out cute!

gggirls 01-13-2010 07:38 PM

Luan - you've been missed - thanks for the updates - hugs girlfriend!

Debbie54 01-13-2010 10:51 PM

Dessi, DDR is Dance Dance Revolution and its for the Wii. Its where they play songs and then give you step guides that you have to match on a foam pad that comes with the game. Its really fun. Thanks so much for saying I dont look old enough to have a son going into the Navy. It's Anew skincare from Avon....great stuff!!
Thats great that your mom is doing well. Keep her smiling!

Kathy, thanks for the tip on the towels under the wii. How the heck did you figure that one out?? LOL :woohoo: on losing 3.5lbs !!

Amy, dont you just hate when the bad stuff keeps calling us? Its hard but you can get past it. Go and grab something good for you and then smirk at the bad stuff!

Ratkitty, I have a desk top thats about ready to die...I'm shipping it to ya!

Luan, wow, you're one busy girl!! Sorry to hear about your grandma. I'll keep her in my prayers. A cupcake business!!! How fun! Those are popping up all over. Hope you make millions!!

Sharon, thanks...its good to be back. Sorry to hear about your back. That must be sooooooooo painful. Take are of yourself.

Jacquie, lamp fired beads...sounds interesting. You'll have to post some pics and let us see them. YAY on being 264!!

Cyn, sounds like this doctor is really going to find out all that ails you! I hope all your tests come back with good results.

Hi Carol, how ya been?

Today was hectic with going to two Avon meetings and having to rush home inbetween them....but I made it. Food is good still. Have to do some sort of exercise still. Probably stretchy bands.
Have a great evening ladies!!

erinkman1 01-14-2010 08:28 AM

Just stopping in to say good morning before I head off to bed. Had a very long 12 hours at work and I am emotionally and physically drained! Working so many hours this week has at least kept me from snacking out of boredom! Hopefully they will get some staff hired in and I can cut back though so I can have some more me time.

Back again...It's been since august since I've been here. I always return but this time I had really lost my senses. lots of changes at home and job so I am trying to get some sense of myself back. I am starting all over from the beginning. Glad to read the posts and see familiar faces.

Hello hello, ladies! Hope you are all doing well. I’m okay, despite TOM making QUITE the appearance yesterday. Ugh. The only thing I don’t like about losing weight, is getting that pesky little thing back. I hadn’t had a period in almost a year, because I was overweight. But it’s all for the greater good.

It’s so nice having a workout buddy. :) I can motivate myself to go to the gym, but having someone there just pushes me to work hard each and every day. She’s been going with me for about a month, and I’m helping her out with some diet tips, and helping her with strength training and whatnot. She always tells me I’m an inspiration to her, and she couldn’t do it without me. Makes me blush. Heh. I’m glad I can motivate SOMEONE. Lol….

We’re taking a ZUMBA class on Friday, and we’re super excited about it! Has anyone here tried it? I’ve heard it super fun, and it’ll probably kick our butts. Lol.

Well, I’m going to finish up my Minestrone soup and my Turkey Burger (one of my favorite meals EVER), and head to the gym! Have a great day, ladies!

Luan – Welcome back! Glad you are doing so well, personally, though I am sorry to hear about your Grandmother. What type of cancer is it?

Jacquie – Congrats on that lowest ever. What a great feeling that must be! I’m currently 55 lbs above my lowest ever, and I’m sure there will be quite the celebration when I hit that again. :)

Cyn – I hope everything comes back A-okay with your tests! I absolutely LOVE Yoga. It’s such a great stress reliever, and I always just feel incredible afterwards.

Debbie – Woot, another DDR-er! I loooove DDR! I play it on my PS2, though. I want to invest in the Wii version, though.

Erin – Hello! I don’t think I’ve ‘met’ you, so HELLO! :)

endthereign – Welcome back! :D

Ratkitten 01-14-2010 04:07 PM

Greetings my Peeps!

Kayley - I have the DDR for PS2 as well. Of all the versions, I think that one is the best. The Wii one makes you use hands as well. OMG, I'm not that coordinated hehehe. I had to turn off the hands.

Luan, so wonderful to see you again! Oh my, you have your plate full (with biz and all the stuff you do!) You are such an outgoing person. Can you bottle that up and market it? I'm first in line if you do.

Welcome end! This year is the year for all of us here. Jump right back in!

Jac, so wonderful that you getting your groove going again with your juices.

Erin, get some rest! I'm glad working like that keeps you from snacking. The stupid vending machines start calling my name when I'm overworked.

Deb, I'm so glad you are back posting. I didn't know you diid Avon. Sounds like you are way involved too!

Cyn, you deserve a better GI doc. I have met so many docs that are weight prejudiced. I love my GI doc here and my PCP. I take prevacid daily and it's absolutely wonderful. I've used it for 6 years with no decrease in effectiveness.

w00h000 Desi on your progress!!! Keep it up girl.

GGG, kiss them furkids for me. Mine are doing great.

OhioAmy, hang in there girl. It's not about perfection. Baby steps.

Oh sharon, I'm so sorry about your back. I hear your pain and can empathsize. I've been having back issues for several years. The best thing that every helped wasn't docs, shots or drugs... but stretching in the shower while the hot hot water was on my back. I try to touch my toes and hold it for 60 sec. This stretches the hamstrings that seem to pull my back muscles downwards, relieving the pain. It takes about 2 weeks to get the knot out.

Chatkath, let's dance tonight (in respective living rooms.. hehe).

ProfHeather, how you doing? Still busy?

Catherine, you frozen up there?? Don't you dare slip on the ice. I'd tell ya I'd come up there and make you be careful, but um... I'd freeze in place halfway to your house. Plus, if I made it up there, I'd be afraid you'd make me serve popcorn and hotdogs at the games. hehe.

I think I have everyone. If I missed ya, it's only cuz my one brain cell is overwhelmed and wants to do some 80's music dancing.

Hugs to all, especially lurkers!

Hi, all! I'm new to 3FC, and today is my first day towards my mini-goal of losing 5 lbs. by next Friday. I wanted to just sit here (while my kids nap) and snack....but instead grabbed my computer and started browsing 3FC posts. Tonight I'm doing to exercise by walking for at least 30 min. on the treadmill at home. No gym for me since my hubby has a meeting at church. My new mantra is "one day at a time." I think I get overwhelmed at the amount of weight to lose and just give up before I even really try. But hopefully by one day at time and one pound at a time, I'll see a new "me" in the mirror soon.

Amy - Hang in there! If you're having a bad day, brush it off and start over tomorrow!

Ratkitten 01-14-2010 05:00 PM

Welcome Jen!! Just hop right in. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and all the new folks that have been posting.

Hugs,
Ratkity

Thanks for all the encouragement. I have lost 3 pounds since Sunday do that makes me feel better. I am trying to eat healthy, but it is really hard. I need to start my Wii again....just need to find the time. Between school and trying to get the house put together from moving here.....doesn't seem like i have time.

Hi Chickies,

Kayley, I didnt know you were a DDRer too! It's addicting isn't it ? I want to get the Just Dance. I've heard people raving about it.

Ratkity, it's good to see you too! Yes, I've been selling since last April. Its fun and I get out there and meet people...be social..which I have a hard time doing sometimes.

Hi Jen, sounds like a good goal to acheive. Hang in there..you can do it! :carrot:

Amy , good for you on losing already!!

I'm doing good still. Can't believe how I'm taking control and only eating when I'm actually hungry and learning portion control. Hope to have another great weight loss for this week.

Jacquie668 01-15-2010 07:44 AM

Dessi - Congrats on the weight loss! :D You're on your way!

ChattKathy - Not sure about the calorie content, but my typical green smoothie is 1 or 2 cups of spinach (i just grab handfuls), frozen fruit like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, mixed fruit, and a banana. I put a little water in and blend.

Cyn - Yoga is great, I should do it more. It really does help with breathing and stretching you out as well as relaxing, in some forms of it. There are plenty of Yoga videos out there for all purposes. :D

Debbie - Do you do resistance cords?? I started trying that out with a workout I got, but the cords are bruising me on the backs of my arms lol. It is also a lot harder than I Thought, so it is really a challenge!

Erin - *HUGS* Hopefully you'll get some rest and some time off soon!

Kayley - Workout buddy sounds nice. I would like that I think...of course it is just me, myself and I lol... I don't visit the gym, but I haven't been exercising regularly. I have to do that, get to it...get moving again.

Jenjem - WELCOME! :D :carrot:

****
Well my weight is up one pound, though I have been eating a lot of fat the past three days so I think that with some exercise thrown in (sore muscles) and lack of sleep...perhaps that is a weight fluctuation. One can hope...I usually don't get upset over one or two pounds, but today I was disappointed as I really wanted to see 263 blink back at me. GRRRR! That is okay...I have two more weeks of this month and I don't intend to waste it. :D

Just if 260 flashes back at me at the end of the month....well then I'll be happy. I think my weight loss has slowed down now, so now is the time to get moving and get over the water retention and things. I usually start retaining a bit of water when I start exercising regularly. :D

I think I'm going to focus on lighter foods this weekend, cut out the fat except for olive oil and a few nuts. I'm making vegan chocolate truffles for tonight, well hopefully. Right now I don't have the energy to lol. Just tired.

Hope everyone is well! :D :hug:

Good morning, ladies! Getting ready to head out the door, and pick up my workout buddy, as we’re trying a Zumba class at our gym for the first time today! I was checking out videos on YouTube of Zumba classes, and I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit intimidated. But, the key is to have fun, and I read that a 150 lb. woman burns over 500 calories during the workout, so I’m sure I’d be around the 1,000 cals. Burned area! (I’ll have to do some research on that). But either way, awesome! :D

I’m pretty bummed. I decided to take pictures every 50 lbs. I lose. I had my starting pictures at 380 lbs, and my new ones at 330 lbs. I put them side by side for comparison in photoshop, and was going to post them. Then, my computer crashed, and my hard drive had to be wiped clean, and I lost EVERYTHING. I retook my 330 lb. pictures, but my 380 lb. ones are gone forever. I’m pretty bummed out about that. :( I could actually see the difference in the pictures! Boo. :(

Ratkitten – I’m extremely uncoordinated myself…so I could see possibly hurting myself or others with the Wii version. Haha. It’s bad enough when I play Just Dance for the Wii….

jenjem1020 – Hello and WELCOME! Much luck to you! :)

OhioU – I know what you mean, hun. School can be so overwhelming and stressful, it makes it hard to make time for anything else! I hope you are able to find a good balance that works for you! What’s your major, btw?

Debbie – Just Dance is super fun! I wish there were more songs, though, that’s the only downside. I don’t own the game for my Wii, but my friend does, and we love to play/flail around! Lol.

Ratkitten 01-15-2010 08:44 AM

Morning my Peeps!

Kayley, you go girl! Work that Zumba!!! I had to rofl about flailing about during Just Dance. Yep, that's exactly what I do. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration!

Jacquie Jacquie Jacquie.. you are tearing down and rebuilding stronger muscles (if your muscles are sore). That causes water weight gain. You shall see that 260! Don't get disappointed. Keep exercising and the soreness will go away and so will the water weight. Go girl!

My WLS surgery is 3 weeks away and I've started the obligatory 2 week freak a week early (I'm an over-achiever, what can I say). That's where I'm over-sensitive about comments and very emo about everything. Something was said in my family to another family member and I got so upset by it, I had to leave work. I had a bonified anxiety attack. I'm ok now. I surprised myself with my reaction, yet couldn't stop being so upset. Family and I are ok now and we all talked it out.

Hugs to all,
Ratkity

Ratkitty aren't families fab? I hope you're feeling a little calmer, you know the benefits and risks, you've made an informed decision, trust yourself & your surgeon.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(ps I couldn't even bend over the sink but I kwym about heat - I had a hot water bottle on my back most of the time)
Kayley didn't you print them out anywhere at all or post them on a networking site? Hubby keeps ours on a disc as well as pc. So sorry you lost them, that's the downer with digital, no 'hard' back-up, the old photo. xxxxxxx
I had a sneaky peek at the scales & since Monday I'm down 5lbs! I LOVE low carb!!!!! My jeans feel looser and I can now walk properly, my back is almost to full function, to stride out & not shuffle (& moan)is fab!
Gotta do my boys' dinner.
xxxxxsharon

Jacquie668 01-15-2010 12:34 PM

Ratkitty - *HUGS* You're right about the weight. I mean we all do fluctuate and I did look over my planner days from two weeks ago. I had three days where I went up, down, up...so I'm curious about that and think charting the weight almost daily is a good idea, but right now I'll get fussy so lol...i'll wait until Sunday. As for WLS, it sounds like you are gearing up and getting ready! I can understand your reaction. You are doing something that would make anyone a little nervous, plus it is coming closer, and now someone says something insensitive...I can understand totally you reacting that way. You have a lot going on, it is only natural in my eyes. You rock and I agree, you made an informed decision for you, that is all that matters!

Sharon - WOO! 5 pounds. :D I love it when the pants start fitting better. LOL! I was so upset last month when my beloved 24s didn't like want to friggin' button. I had to lay down and do that "girly inhale and pullllllll the zip up" thing lol. Now I'm just buttoning them fine! lol... Hope your back is on the men...

Kayley - Sorry to hear about the hard drive. One thing you could do is store stuff on an external or disc. I personally NEED to get my crap backed up and am very bad at doing that.

****
Well I was SUPER nervous about my pottery lesson, but it went well. I made three little pots lol. I got a comment that I learn quick, but lol...I'm like "yeah do it like this?" he is like "no" lol....hahahahaha...well I still made something and it wasn't wobbly!!! :D

Got three more lessons...and I decided to make my truffles for tomorrow. I don't have time today...I gotta work on some other stuff. One day of chocolate is better than two!

I have a family visit tonight and tomorrow. They wanted us to stay over tonight and I was like "no" lol....NOT gonna happen! I need my space. :) Besides I have to fuss with chocolate truffles this evening.

*HUGS*

CatherineM 01-15-2010 05:57 PM

We went bowling today. It's something we can do together. This year we are going to focus on health, no matter the cost, and if we spend $12-15 a week on bowling, then so be it. I worked up a sweat, and that's the key. I told my husband that losing weight isn't rocket science. It is about moving more and eating less. I even got us bowling shoes. Learning a new sport or musical instrument is easier when you have decent equipment. I probably have the strangest stance/delivery in history, but I am adapting my unique disabilities to the game.

OhioU Chick 01-15-2010 08:27 PM

Kayleystar- Social Work/Counseling. I want to go into grief counseling. I know that is a hard field to do but I feel that I have the heart for it.

I am feeling better about losing weight, I am going to have to buy something for the Wii so I can get more motovated. I am really wanting to buy the Just Dance one.

Amy
