300+ Weekly Thread #1231

:welcome:

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

Hello ladies! I've been busy and away from the computer for the past few days.... Have my second weigh-in today and once again, I am NERVOUS! My eating this week was not quite as spot-on. Saturday night I was at a bonfire/river party with some friends and local bands and OH my, the food they had. I splurged and ate (I'll be COMPLETELY honest here) a bowl of chili, 2 wheat thins with some dip, a bite of potato salad, and 3 pudding shots (pudding with irish cream) and one jello shot. I then felt very BLAH and realized that it's not even worth it. My stomach was saying, "Why did you put this crap in me?" However, I thought about the fact that prior to my new lifestyle, I would have had a bowl of chili, a plate of potato salad, sausage on green beans, mac n cheese, dessert, shots, and I would have been drinking dark beer throughout the evening. So it's still progress, even if it was a slip. I worked out more overall throughout the week, so that's good.

Pretty sure I can see my midsection shrinking though... Weeee!

Happy start of a new week - y'all. Now that my hubby has his health under control, I'm able to start paying attention to mine again. I got in a walk on Saturday (but not very fast - was walking with my husband and he's just not that swift yet), and then went and swam laps on Sunday. This morning I got up and went to the gym before work for my usual cardio/strength routine, and I feel great. I re-did a week 3 C25k training run, which is disappointing, but I was able to do it without a struggle and I even added in an extra 2 minute interval at the end before cool down. I think I will do it again tomorrow and then try Week 4 again on Wednesday.

Did not do so great in the food department. Friday night my in-laws took us to dinner at "the corner cafe" and I'm pretty sure there is nothing on the menu that even resembles healthy. I went ahead and splurged a little and got a fried chicken breast with a little bit of white gravy, but then got the salad and roasted carrots. So a splurge, but not a disaster. I think my cals for that day were 2200. Then yesterday I also had a little set back - I kept my calories perfectly in range, but the % fat and % saturated fat was way high. Oh well, I guess the golden rule is eat fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight and I did manage that, so I can live with it.

I am about 1/2 way through my second 22 oz water at 8:15 this morning too, so I'm back to trying to get in my water this week. It really shouldn't be quite the struggle that it is..

Let's see - what else.. I'm wearing a pair of pants today that I may not be able to wear again. They're so big on me now that the cuffs are dragging the ground even when wearing heels.

Ok, I think that's all the news on my side. Have a great week gals!

Start of the week...I'm hoping to reboot...though today it has so far been just another high stress induced day, the entire weekend since Friday has been just one incident after another and it seems like I'm being verbally and emotionally attacked a lot. Relationship issues....

I don't handle stress well at all. I'm taking this year to try to learn how to cope with my stress and emotions without food, but so far I'm not doing a very good job. It is hard, I don't know what to do with myself when I get upset. The thing is I'm okay if it is like one or two things, but when it just seems to build and build and build I just finally crack. Hopefully that makes sense.

This morning I'm enjoying a green smoothie with some left over lettuce I have. I need to go food shopping. Right now I am just wanting to buy whatever lol. I'm in a "mood" lol. Wanting to reboot and such...

I hope everyone is doing well, healthy, safe and happy.:hug::hug:

Happy monday all..

Yesterday I got to watch football with my oldest son. When he was with his gf..we would hardly get to watch a game cause that was church day. He made a comment to me saterday evening that now he can wear what he wants without worrying about what her parents say..I looked at him and said..you must have been under alot of pressure with them..he said more then you know. That answers alot of questions about what was really going on.

Saterday night we went to my aunts and had a BBQ. The hotdog about tore me up! One more week and I can get this gallballdder out!

I got a little more unpacking done..but my kitchen is still a mess! Asked hubby to finish painting today..we shall see.

I THINK fall has arrived...it was so nice yesterday. It is suppose to be in the hiugh 80's all week..yeah! Coooler weather here we go!!

Good afternoon, chicks! So, I've been doing the 30 Day Shred workout for about 3 weeks now, and I really love it. According to the DVD you can 'lose up to 20 lbs in 30 days'. So I decided as a bit of a challenge to myself, and to see just how much I could lose, I'm going to do the workout EVERY DAY, no breaks for 30 days! I will of course report in here and let you all know the findings. lol. I figured this was a way to kick my butt when the weather is getting so dreary and nasty, and making me feel lethargic.

Peeked at the scale this morning, and saw good numbers. Lower than my weigh in, so I'm delighted. Now I won't step on it until Saturday. Hoping to be 350 or lower. :)

Well, I'm going to go do my 30 Day Shred, day 1, and head outside for some walking & jogging intervals!

Have a lovely Monday!

Andrea - Sounds like progress to me! Granted, it may have been off your eating plan, but I'm living by 'everything in moderation', and you definitely controlled yourself, and that definitely deserves a pat on the back! Good luck at your weigh in today!

Susannah - Woot! Non-scale victory for you, sounds like. New pants are in order! :)

Jacquie - Oh how I wish there was a pill we could take to cure of us comfort eating. *sigh* I hope today is better for you.

Cyn - Send some of that my way! The high here today is supposed to be 40 degrees. :(

Heather hb - Just take it easy, and don't over-do it, and you'll be back into your routine before you know it. :)

Hi everyone,

Sorry for being MIA for so long. I have just been not well. I am doing much better now and things are okay. There is no way that I will be able to catch up on all the posts so I will just try better to be around more.

I hope everyone is doing well. I am still at 211 and holding. lol. Hoping that I will lose that final pound so I can set a new goal. My parents think I am finished losing weight and the rest is extra skin but I talked to my Dr and he said if I want I can get at low as 190 before skin removal stuff.

It definately is fall here and getting colder. I was hoping by this year my body would be more acclimated to my weight loss and I wouldn't be so cold but, not yet. lol.

I am supposed to have my lifeguard swim test tonight to see if they will except me in the lifeguard class. I am hoping to put it off for a while more due to the possibility of not being able to make it to all the classes but I don't think they will give me a refund unless I flunk out on the swim test tonight. I don't think I can make myself fail. Too competitive.

Any way. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and that I'm hopefully back for now.

Blessings,
Annie

Annie - So good to see you back! :D 211 is awesome..you rock! :D I am happy to hear you are doing better, been wondering and hoping you were well. We all miss you as well as Zelma and Voodoo did pop her head back in too! :D YAY!

Voodoo - Good to see you back as well. I neglected to post that in the other thread. I was very focused on "me me me me me" this weekend. You know wallowing lol.

Julia - TY for the link! :D I am reading through it! :D :D :D

Cyn -
Glad to hear you got some football time in and I hope your son is doing better. Sounds like he was under a lot of pressure. :/ That is too bad...I mean that might mean he and her couldn't come together because of too much interference. That is really sad. I hope it still works out in the end though, for everyone.

Kayleystar - A pill would be nice. Very lol. I would have been popping pill after pill all weekend! hahahah. This week I'm going to take the time to look into some ideas to relax and calm down when I get upset or just stressed out.

Today was a MUCH better day. Morning sucked, but that is okay. I got up, got dressed, looked half decent lol. Did my business thing, went to Barnes and Noble and got my Witches Planner I used to love getting. Went to the craft store to look into a few artsy things, decided it is best to go to an actual art store next time. Then I went to Wegmans, a grocery store, and they have a lot of prepared food. Picked up lunch at the Chinese buffet thing. I usually HATE buffets, but you know when you're on the go why not. So, the thing is they post the nutritional info, but I don't believe it, so i always get less and just get veggies lol. I got maybe 1/3 cup of brown rice and the rest were various veggies...it was pretty good. Now I'm eating Gazpacho and WOW! First time having that and that R O C K S! I'm going to make that for myself next week! So good....I think cold soups are fun. :D

Going out tonight, been walking a lot today, love that. Gotta go to the Halloween store and then a party store for the weekend, a family visit. Blah blah... :D

I hope everyone is well. :D *HUGS*

HippieMama 10-05-2009 06:00 PM

2 more lbs lost.... A little disappointing only because of the much bigger number last week but I'm fully aware that it's normal and I should not be discouraged. :) It's a long road, and I am going to stay motivated! And I'm eating spinach salad with shrimp tonight.

Hello ladies. Just checking in this Tuesday morning here in South Korea. I started teaching an advanced adult class last night at the school, and I made the mistake of not bringing dinner with me. I thought I could wait until I got home, but I was wrong. I did wait til I got home, but I ended up eating two servings instead of one serving of my pre-planned dinner. Oh well, live and learn. Come tomorrow I will be bringing my dinner in with me.

It is finally starting to drop in temperatures here on the island. Which is great! I love fall, but experiencing it in another country on a beautiful island is just absolutely wonderful.

On Sunday I did the WATP 2 mile video. Yesterday I took the day off. Today I will either be doing the WATP 2 mile again, or if I'm lucky my package will arrive from the USA containing my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies dvds. I'm keeping my hopes up for that because I absolutely cannot wait.

Well, that's all for now. Hope you are all having a good start to the week.

CatherineM 10-05-2009 09:01 PM

I spent the weekend re-arranging furniture. When asked why today, I said, I'm a woman, it is what we do. It does seem strange to be able to pop in to the store and buy some fresh veggies without it being a major production of taking the bus, or begging for a ride. Went to my favorite grocer in Chinatown, and got lots of exotic stuff. We had some yellow pumpkin tonight, and tomorrow I'm making a veggie pizza with stuff that I can't pronounce.

dogpal 10-05-2009 11:49 PM

Hi All,

Jacquie: Hugs and it is nice to see you again.

Hippiemama: That is wonderful -2! I know it is not what you want but it is a great number. Congrats.

Shan: I hope you get your tapes soon.

Catherine: So, you are driving again. Good for you. Your pumpkin sounds yummy and very fall like.

I am soooo proud of myself guys. NSV here: I went to the Lifeguard class for the testing and there was 12 of us. Me (43 years old) and 11 young people 20 or under. We had to swim 300 yards without stoping and resting. 100 freestyle or crawl 100 breast stroke and then the final 100 either freestyle or breast stroke. I went first cause I was there first and also to get it over with cause I was nervous. Well, I rocked.Time wise I came in 2nd place only to the young lady that ws recertifying with the test. 7 people didn't make it and had to quit early because they couldn't finish the 300 so they have to get a refund and try to build up some stamina. Then we had a test where she puts a 10 pound water brick in the 10 foot water and we have to swim 50 yard to retrieve it and dive down and get it and then swim with it 50 yards back put it on the deck of the pool then hop out ourselves all in 1 minute and 30 seconds. Again I went first and did it in the time alloted. She didn't tell us our times just that I passed! 3 other people passed and 1 didn't so there will be 4 of us in the class that starts Wednesday at 3 p.m. I am so proud of myself and wanted to share with you guys.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Blessings,
Annie

Heather 10-05-2009 11:58 PM
