Default newbie looking for support

Hi all. I just happen to stumble onto this great website through google. A little about me. I am 28 years old (well next month I'll be 28). I have been a yo yo dieter all my life. I can't remember a time when I was adverage weight. My whole family struggles with weight and I always seemed to let that be my crutch. Not any more. I know that this is my fault and I have let it get out of hand. I have tried a lot of different things. Weight watchers, LA weight loss, doing it by myself, ect. I lost 30lbs with Weight watchers and 90lbs with LA weight loss... but with really no family support, I fell into my old habits easily. My husband is a big fan of Buger King and McDonalds and we get into so many arguments when I dont want to go there, and get a "healthier" meal out. I hate exercising... but am willing to do it in baby steps. I recently got a bicycle for the first time in about 13 years. Rode it 6 blocks and thought I was going to die. So definatly baby steps on that.... after i get a more comfortable seat that is. My lifestyle is microwave and "quick" "cheap" meals. With only one income in the house and on a very tight budget, groceries suffer, so i tend to get the cheap, quick meals that we can get by on. My portion control is out of wack too. I know this, and I tell my husband about it.... but plain and simple, I have no motivation and no support to do it and keep on it. So, I guess, what I am trying to say is... HELP ME, PLEASE.

Default Plushmama.....I completely understand

I completely understand where you are coming from. Several members of my family are overweight as well. I don't have much of a support system either. I try explaining to my husband that he needs to lose weight just as much as I do and that if we did it together it would be easier for the both of us. He doesn't care if he gets as big as a house and when I try to play the health issue card he says that when it's his time to go God's going to take him fat or skinny. I quit buying unheatlhy food and he complains all the time but I tell him to go get the groceries himself if he wants something different. I do try and keep some "healthy junk food" ---veggie chips, fat free ice cream, 100 calorie packs, etc... he still eats whatever he wants but i try my best to eat healthy. Thats the main reason I joined this site; to get support and share my experiences with people in the same boat as me. Good luck on your weight loss!!!

Thumbs up

Hello PM, welcome! With me i am just the oposite.. my family are all thin and can eat eat eat and not gain! I duno what the heck happened with me.. but i am the only short one too so hmmm... I guess that must have somethin to do with it..

My boyfriend was on the thin side until he met me.. i think i fed him too much or let him bring too much crap into my house..

I just cant eat that way or i do nothin but gain gain gain and get lazy and depressed!

I know what ya mean bout exercise! But i duno if i hate it so much as i just find it boring!!

I have a friggin gym in my house.. i have a bow flex xlt, when i got that i had made my mind up that i was going to use it daily no excuses! that was about 8 years ago and look at me now

Well now im starting with baby steps with everything, no choice cuz i let myself get so badly out of shape thats about all i can do right now! So i vow to use my bowflex and everything else i have in there once winter gets here and i wont be going outside quite as much..

I have a power rider, 3 different kinds of steppers, a gazelle, stationary bike, i cant think of the ab chair thing - they have it on tv alot.. i dont think it will support my current weight tho! YIKES! It would when i got it! Anyway i sure got enough stuff to be using.. everytime i got somehting i thought it would be the answer for me Maybe ill start my own curve curcuit! LoL

If you need support, encouragement and motivation, take a look at my weight and know that i was once where you are right now and i screwed up bigtime and let myself go and now here i am.. I need to keep my eyes wide open this time and not close them anymore to anything.. cuz thats what i seem to have been doing for the last few years.. feeling sorry for myself cuz my life doesnt go as i want it to..

Time to get myself under control and just do it and stay on it..

I know that you can too! If you ever need to talk just send me a PM anytime.. Good luck to you! XOX

Default Welcome!

Welcome! This forum is filled with great people. I too learn something new everyday.

This site helped gave me courage to change by lifestyle to a healthy one. I would encourage you to pick people's brain that have lost the weight and maintained it. They are a great wealth of knowledge.

Hi Plushmama!

Glad you found your way to 3FC! Congrats on getting going on your bike! One of my step goals (50 pounds) is to get a decent bike so I can ride to work (5 miles roundtrip). Pedal on!
