300+ Weekly Thread #1168
300+ Weekly Thread #1168
We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs. We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't. We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time. Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out. We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!! |
Happy Monday Peeps - I'm heading out to lead a seminar for the next few days - at least I get to sleep in my own bed and don't have to travel. Was a nice weekend - fairly relaxing even though I didn't do well at the Mexican restaurant.
Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE. Hugs to all, Carol |
Its going to be another hot day in KY. The heat is bad but its so HUMID!!
I think they are saying 98 for us and heat index of 105-110. Looks like I will be inside all day today!! Im in need of advice...I guess i got chaffed( bra area) while blackberry picking..any suggestions other than baby powder . I also tried baby powder deordant and its killing me!! I know im not the only one who has had this problem. Any advice or suggestions are welcom!!! Please!!! Well my weight is up a tiny bit today..tom is finally slowing down a bit..I know I didnt drink enough water yesterday..came in about 32 ounces short of my normal. I had a nice lazy day yesterday..I even took a nap and read a magazine. LOL Im pretty much back to normal babysitting this week. Teachers are trying to get their room back in shape before the kids start in a few weeks. Looks like my summer is over pretty much :O( Oh well to be honest dieting is easier for me when i have the kids. I have a better schedule and plan better. Hope everyone has a wonderful week. debi |
G'morning all!
I'm sending "great vacation vibes" to Heather. GGG, hope your seminar goes well. Stay cool in this heat! I'm still waking up. I had a horrid headache all weekend. I was thinking it was probably just the humidity and heat and TOM, but then I had an epiphany this morning... I haven't had my eyes checked in over a year and I might be squinting. hrmmmmm. TOM is slinking away. I made some squash/zuchinni/onions and had some chicken last night. Despite wanting to eat junk, I felt better after eating healthy. I wanted the junk cuz I didn't feel so hot. Comfort stuff, ya know? Hugs to all! Time to get to work. Luv, Ratkity |

LOL We drove home Sat leaving Louisiana around 2pm arriving home around 4AM!!! LOL slept till 8am and left for the Ballgame around 9am!!! IT was HOTTTTTTT!!!! in Cincinnati! My DH had a blast! His first major league game, his favorite team (no not the Reds LOL they played the Mets) and a win in extra innings!!! My ankles are soooooo swollen from the 12 hours down & then again on the way back from Louisiana and then sitting all afternoon/evening in the hot sun at the ball game! Pumping water, water and more water! Since we left on Thurs I knew this would happen to me so I pumped up my water intake..........drinking very few sodas and ice tea while out.........hopefully they will be back to normal tomorrow! ok well gotta go do some cleanup around here ttyl |
Good Morning,
Well it was a good weekend. Got some walking in and swimming at the Y. Even though last week was a little stress and TOM I was worried about WI. But, I stayed the same. That is alright with me. I was very surprised though that it wasn't a gain. Not sure what I did to keep it there or I would do that every time. It is very humid and hot here, so not outside too much, just the running in and out doesn't keep the house cool. Hubby went to town and bought a heavy duty extension cord and plugged the a/c in but still kept popping the breaker. I decided to put it in an outlet that didn't have too much on it. Hubby said it wouldn't work there. HA! I put it there and no breaker has popped yet!! I guess I know more about the house than him. It is pretty fun to be right when he just swears he is right. Daughter works at a farm market and brought home fresh sweet corn, peaches, onions, apples, plums, and squash, yesterday so that was awesome. Hubby went to a stand and brought home a couple of pints of cherries. They were the sweetest ones I had every had. We have already ate 1 pint. Carol-Yep, I am drinking plenty of water. I think I went over on the weekend, but that is always a good thing. More is better. We have to go to town and fill up jugs again today. Thanks, with every bottle fill, I think of you and know I have to do it! Mexican food is awesome, I sometimes don't do so well either. The other night at home I made Chimi's. And last week I made ck. fajaitas. We have been eating ck. fajaitas with salad and not the tortillas and that has been helping. Hope the seminar goes well! Did you ever find the PB2? DMPLS-Yeah, so nice to hear that you had a wonderful trip. It sounds busy. I know when we went to New Orleans it was my first time eating alligator too. Did you like it? Debi-Did you get a lot of blackberries? I do better when there is everyone home too to cook for. Ratkitten-I know last week all I wanted was sweet stuff with my TOM, so I went for SouthBeach chocolate covered soy nuts, and chocolate protein shake with PB2 in it. That helped. Although the twinkies in the store looked very tempting! Heather-Have a great trip! Well, I am off to get the mail and then get breakfast, I am running slow this morning. My alarm went off early, but it was storming outside so I didn't get up. Shame on me! So now I have to get moving and drink water! Everyone have a great day! Penny |
penny_ i got about a gallon of blackberries. Most of them on the plants are still red so maybe by the middle of the week I will go and pick again. Im taking them to my mom next time..I will not be tempted to make more sweets I dont need. We still have most of a cobler sitting on the stove.
|
Debi - I was having more problems than usual with chafing and rash this summer I think because I have more skin hanging with the weight I've released. I tried several things and the one that is working best is Gold Bond Medicated Powder. Since I started using it on a daily basis my rash, etc has gone away.
Count me in with those suffering from high heat and humidity. I swear I hear those in cooler northern climes like Catherine, Debbie, etc say "Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah" after me teasing them with my warmer temps when they were in the snowy deep freeze last winter and spring. Wishing everyone a great OP, water drinking day. |
I get to go let the doctor play around in my brain again today. I will sure be glad when he is done messing around in there.
|
Catherine-I pray all goes well at the doctor for you today.
Debbie-How are the legs doing today? dgramie-cobbler sounds great! I could probably finish it for ya today!! I have been really hungry all morning. I had breakfast and a fruit snack, but I guess it is almost lunch time too. Not sure what I will be having. The girls are in their bedrooms, doing some cleaning. ON THEIR OWN!!!! I don't know what got into them. It's weird. Nothing I have ever seen before. So I am not saying anything to them. I think it is better that way. I have seen 2 bags of clothes come out of the older ones room and a bag of trash and the younger one just came after some wet wipes for something. I am not sure I really want to know, probably playing with dolls! Hubby is upstairs working or playing on the computer, it is kinda the same thing for him. He loves it so. Well, I better get moving too. I need to shampoo my kitchen carpet sometime. I really hate carpet in the kitchen! Penny |
Our trip away really bonded our dogs closer!! I know this sounds funny but I am thrilled!
the new puppy, Nena went with oldest DD to her Nanny job for Thurs & Friday........and a friend came in on thurs afternoon/friday morning to let the other two out.......youngest DD spent the night over a friends that first night..........then oldest DD brought the puppy back on Saturday........well when she got back our poodle, Zito, started playing with her..........I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder!!!! LOL before he would NEVER hop up on my lap if Nena was on it.......and if I made him do it he would sit stiff legged and groal, while he was trying to scurry away from her...........but last night I had Nena on my lap and Zito jumped up there playfully batted Nena's head with his nose and then curled up on my legs right next to her!!! gotta love my furbabies!!!! ok gonna go get something to eat w/NO salt! anyone know something that is a natural diaretic? Tomatos??? anyhow! gota run Debi-Gold bond, is one thing that works.......but there is also a chaffing cream/powder out in the feminine hygiene area....my daughter uses that for between her legs. |
Howdy
Hello everyone! This is my first time posting in the Weekly thread. It has seemed a bit quiet around the 300+ forum lately and I need all the communication I can get.
I am currently one my last day of week 2 of my "new lifestyle" and tomorrow is weigh-in day. Last week I lost 4 pounds, which was good. This week, I'm not sure how I will do though. I have the dreaded "water retention" to deal with and I don't feel I exercised as much this week. I really want to hit the treadmill hard this week so I can be well on my way to hitting my 25 lb. goal by Sept. 1st. What kind of exercises did you all do when you were just starting out? I don't have access to a pool, which I hear suggested a lot around here. My treadmill tends to slip a lot when I'm on it because I think I'm just over the weight limit. I can't walk outside because it is entirely too hot and that will just decrease my amount of activity. |
Luan...maybe there is somewhere in the middle we can meet? I know we live a little ways away from each other. I am pretty flexible and can work with your schedule. I got back to work on the 28th and my weekends are OK until the end of the month.
It was nice to get some sleep last night and readjust to my own time zone. I need to go to the market today and get a few things. DH is doing laundry tonight so I will be sweet and cook dinner...just no idea what. I am doing a research study on Thursday about field sobriety testing for boaters. I am being paid to go to their factility (they are sending a taxi) and drink until my BAC goes above the legal limit. Then I have to hang out until I am back to a safe level. I have to do some tests and just hang out. I can't eat before I go in but once I am there I can do whatever. Not a terrible way to mak some extra $$. LOL Have a Happy Monday. |
Sara: Have a great holiday in Brussels. That sounds so nice.
Heather: I'm sure you are already gone on your trip but incase you peak in here, have a blast. Carol: How was the manicure? I love getting pampered. Glad you enjoyed your time out. Debi: Woo hoo on getting under 250! I am sooooo close myself I can feel it. lol. It is encouraging me to up my water intake more. I can't recall the name of the chaffing stuff that Bernice was talking about but it works well and is in the feminine hygene area. Mchelle: Woo hoo to saying no to all the sweets at work. Way to go! Congrats on the weight loss too. Julee: Glad that your trip was fun. Enjoy the drinking test. lol. Rat: Sorry that you have been suffering with a headache. Hope you get your eyes checked soon. Bernice: Glad your trip was fun. Thanks for posting the pics. It looks like you guys had a great time. Great that your furbabies are starting to get along too. Penny: Those farm fresh veggies sound yummy! JOhnnie: Hi there. Catherine: Glad himself got home safe to you. Hope it isn't too bad at the Dr. Jess: Welcome aboard. Everyone here is wonderful and very encouraging. When I first started I could only do my exercise bike at 5 minutes per day. Just keep on plugging away at what you can do and before you know it you will be really going. There are lots of programs on TV, exercise routines if you have Fit Tv. You can maybe do one of those. There are videos at the library you can check out or at the movie rental places. Those are a few ideas that can get you started. Good luck whatever path you choose. Yesterday we went to the water park and the theme park. I went on the fastest roller coaster there with dh. Never again will that happen. I was terrified and it hurt my neck so much. Yikes. We went home after that. Before then though, the water park was fabulous. I so enjoy spending time there. Walked and walked too which was fun. I did my Biggest winner weigh in today and I have lost 3 pounds. I am so close to being under 250 I can't wait. Hopefully by Friday I will be there. If not, It will come. I am upping my water to hopefully push that along. lol. I didn't exercise much last week because I was feeling so icky with TOM so this week I need to bust my bootie each day to reach my goal of 2000 minutes for the month. I can do it if I push at least 66 minutes a day. lol. Well, hope you are all doing wonderful, drinking water, staying op and moving your bods. Blessings all, Annie |
Afternoon all!
Bernice, sounds like you had a great whirlwind trip. Tea is a natural diuretic. Keeping your legs up works too :) When I had it, I thought the alligator tasted like chicken .. hehe. Hiya Penny! Wow, you had a lot of fresh stuff. My TOM is wandering away this week. I just wish he'd stay gone. I go for the sweet n salty stuff. I'd prolly have gnawed my left arm if it was properly salted last week. debi, yummy, cobbler! I made a coffee cake thingie that isn't sweet called a Blackberry Buckle. Easy to make and good with coffee or tea. I've heard good things about Gold Bond for the itchies. Also, just pure talc powder is good. Catherine, brain docs have job security, they just find things too interesting to stop messing around up there. hehe. It's like road contruction, it never ends! Julee, glad you had a great trip! Interesting way to make money with the field sobriety thingie.. hehe. Tex, it's hot here too. I lived in TX from 1992-1997. It is NOT a dry heat!! hehe. At least not in the Hill Country. Welcome Jess!! I would advocate little changes that you can easily incorporate daily; meaning, don't hit the treadmill too hard. Baby steps are easier to handle. Most treadmills have adjustments if there's belt slippage. I won't say all of them, because I'm sure some of the cheaper models skimp on things like that. I'm procrastinating at work. Back to the grind! Luv, Ratkity |
We posted at the same time, Annie! I understand not wanting to exercise a bunch while TOM is about. I do the same thing. You are so close to 250! w00h00!!
I have an eye appt for Thursday. I can't stand having headaches, so I'm gonna get that taken care of quickly. I am lucky that I don't get migraines and feel for anyone who gets them. Hugs! Rat |
Annie- Your day at the park sounds fun! It sounds like you got a lot of walking in. Good for you!! Sorry you hurt your neck. YEAH! on the WI. You are doing so well! I am proud of you girl!
Jess-I agree with Annie, try some videos/DVDS/tv. That is kinda how I started. I have some DVD's that I started with and just inched into the y membership and getting a treadmill at home. I have had a bike for 2 years and am finally riding it alot! It started out really slow though. This week has not been the best yet either as it is so hot outside. Hubby needs to fix the tension on the stationery bike so I can't even use it inside. Going to the Y is hard too as it is 25 minute drive. Gas is so expensive I have a hard time justifying making a trip just to exercise. I should as I am worth it! HA! HA! So just start slow, you can do it! DMPLS-glad the furbabies are doing well! Catherine-Yeah on hubby home! I know how it is with the laundry. Every week hubby comes home it is the same way. At least he uses a laundry bag so it stays semi-sorted. Girls are doing well- I see FLOOR!!! |
OOOOOOOOo Johnnie......nah nah nah nah nah nah!! It's really nice here. Just the hi 70s. Cloudy in the morn and burns off to a really pretty day. Sorry for the rest of you who are suffering in the heat and humidity. I really do feel for ya.
Debi, If you want some more blackberries, come on over. We're loaded with them!! Our whole property is surrounded by those darn things. People here are trying to kill them, there are so many. Catherine, so glad Himself got home fine. Have fun with that doc pickin' your brain. Annie, woohoo on the pounds gone!! Yep, 250 is sooooooo close for you!!! How fun to have a water park so close to you that you can go so often. Hi Ratkity, Penny, Julee, and the rest of the gang! My brother and fam will be here on Thursday so I have to get my butt in gear and start cleaning this place. I still have half of the veggie garden to clean out and one more flower garden, then mow the lawns and weedeat. Tomorrow is carpet cleaning, rearranging furniture and then mopping and waxing floors, laundry and all the rest of the fun stuff that goes with having people staying. We'll be taking them to Seattle on Saturday, to go to the Pike Place Market, watch them throw the big fish, the original Starbucks and the underground tour and then to an Italian restaurant. It should be a fun day. I don't know what other plans we have for them, but we'll think of something. Jim's going to have all next week off too, and on Tuesday night at one of the casinos, they have a stage that you can go up on and a full band to back you up for karaoke and then Wednesday morning we will go crabbing with the kids. It should be a fun week! I just worry about the eating, but I'm trying to find things that won't be too bad. Hope everyone is having a great day and try to stay cool for those in the horrid heat. Debbie |
Good afternoon all,
My goodness, it's Monday afternoon and we're on page 2 already. I keep trying to keep up but I'm not sure where the time has gone. This week is supposed to be rainy, which means I'll be inside more. However, I also note that it's now getting close to late July and I've got math prep work to do for school in the fall. That's what you get for going back to school 20-some odd years later - make up work! I also figure since I'll have less time in the fall I'm going to get into the cooking and try and make sure that the freezer has some ready-made stuff for Sept. Most of what's in there now is divided up raw meat. That's not a good choice for a quick meal. Carol - hope you're having fun at your seminar. It's funny but lots of people hope for good food at them. I think my opinion of what good food is has changed. Debi - We've cooled down today but it is humid as well. Sorry about the bra. The only suggestion I can make it take it off when you really don't need it on. :) Ratkitten - I understand about the comfort food. Mine are weird. If I'm just not feeling good I want pasta with tomato sauce. If it's an upset stomach I want lemonade and peaches. I know, very strange. Bernice - sounds like you had a fun (but quick) mini trip. New Orleans must have been pretty warm though. We were there last May and had a gorgeous (maybe low 80s) day. Talking with a local though I realised that we were lucky since it's usually hotter than that and more humid to boot. Penny - AC is so nice sometimes. I love this time of year with all the fresh fruits and veggies around. That's a pretty good thing that she works at a farm market. Johnnie - I try not to complain about the heat too much since I whined so much this winter. I could do with a touch less humidity though. Catherine - have fun with the brain doc! Jess - I wouldn't worry too much about water retention. I used to find that around TOM I might go up as many as three or four pounds. The good thing about that is you go down the same amount afterwards. I did a lot of walking, although lately I've been lifting weights as well. I discovered that I like throwing heavy weights around. :) I still walk a couple of times a week though, it's a great exercise. Don't hit the treadmill too hard though. I started with 90 mins a day (too much) and all I got for it was sore knees). Walk Away the Pounds DVDs are pretty good, and I don't know about your library, but you can sign them out in ours. Julee - that's interesting work you'll be doing on Thursday. Have fun (but not too much)! Annie - isn't it amazing that drinking water keeps you from retaining more? I've known it for a long time, but it still fascinates me. I hope you reach the under 250 mark soon. Debbie - oh company. No, don't get me wrong, I love when people come to visit. We had a small neighbourhood party on Sat. night. You seem to do almost as much work as when people come to visit. Good luck on the food choices while out and about. Well, it looks like the sun has decided to shine for a bit. So I should go out and check the plants (although it's unlikely anything needs water) and maybe have a swim. Hope everyone is having a great start to the week! |
Hi Ladies,
I had a great day of laundry. lol. I did bring in the big rubbermade tubs of too small clothes for me and tried them on. Guess what. No longer too small and they are size 18's and 20's! That was awesome. I am doing laundry on bunches of them now and it promted me to go through my closet again and drawers and get rid of the too big clothes for me. I have a huge back end of things in my car to donate to the women's shelter. I won't be able to do it until Thursday though because I have to take my hubby's truck to the shop tomorrow and I will be riding my bike while he uses my car for until Wednesday afternoon. There is a recall on his truck speedometer. Need to get that replaced while it is still under warrenty. I rode my bike again today. DIdn't do my usual 4.6 miles. Did only 2.5 but that is okay. Penny: :) Debbie: I hope you have a wonderful time with your family coming. Sounds like you have tons of things to keep you busy. Anne: I love your idea of getting things ready in the freezer for when you are too busy to cook. Good luck with that. Well, I'm off to check on some schooling myself. Thinking about Physical Therapy assistant and also about personal training. Blessings all, Annie |
Evening Ladies
Carol - Glad you had a nice weekend. Enjoy your seminar. Debi - I have not had any chaffing so far this year. Knock on wood. ;) In the summer I usually use anti bacterial soap for body wash and dry off very well. Gold bond sensitive areas. I also carry diaper wipes with me to freshen up during the day and sprinkle a little more powder. Ratkity - Hope your horrid headache has vanished. Bernice - What an awesome mini vacation. I haven’t been to New Orleans and would love to go some time. The last long trip I took with hubby in the truck was to Galveston. I really like it there. it’s the beach baby in me. The more water to swim the better. Penny - I love the market. Very envious of all your produce! Who hoo to kids cleaning with out a cattle prod aimed at them! Johnnie - We had another humid day. Mind you not high enough to make me sopping wet all day long.:( Catherine - Did ya get your spring cleaning done b4 hubby got home? Glad he is home safe. When the doc is done messing around in your brain do you feel ok? I can imaging how taxing all these appointments can be. Jess8 - I know its been quiet here. But there is so much good weather to enjoy. Like Rat says little changes. Easier for long term success and for winning over the family to new healthier ways. Julee - Love your plans for Thursday. Annie - Boo to the nasty ride. I did one with dh at darian lake when we were dating. Impressed him and never did it again. It was so horrible that when he went to look at the lovely pics they take of you I ran to the washroom for a private cry! And AWESOME job on your release! Debbie - The plans with your family sound wonderful. I am envious. Really have the itch to travel but we are working on saving to buy a home next summer. Anne - You inspire me to keep busy in the kitchen and try new stuff. Thanks. Are you still planning on going to Stratford? A few things. Had a crappy weekend with hubby,. He was all moody again. Then I got my finger stuck in a ratchet that I was helping him tighten on a load of steel. Was thinking I would lose the finger nail. But so far so good. Keeping the dressing on it so that the kids remember that it is sore! And this morning I discovered I had no clean shorts or pants so I dug out a summer skirt that I have not worn since Summer 03. It is 3x and fits! So tonight after the kids are in bed I will check out a few more items that have been hanging around too long! |
No major head shrinking today. I think he is regrouping. I did get all my cleaning done except the bathroom. They are going to be installing the new disabled toilet this week, and I expect a big mess after that, so I'm going to wait to get it all at once.
I'm all ready to start my sewing for fall. I am designing (in my head) a new layered coat kind of thing. I'm also making a new laptop sleeve for going back to school. It's also time for new hat and mittens. I'm going to hardwire my trapper hat with headphones like Bula makes. I'm also making a round padded case for my new yoyo. We all have to have priorities. Everything else is done around here, so I can concentrate on my sewing, so I can get the decks cleared before school starts. I'm doubling my course load this fall from 3 to 6, so I want to make sure I've got all distractions out of here. My head injury has made me have trouble concentrating when other stuff is bothering me. I literally can't sew or study if there is dirty laundry. I will sometimes go and study in the lounge at mall, surrounded by noisy kids rather than try at home. I can block out that noise easier than I can my internal nagging, and boy can I ever nag myself silly. |
Just thought I'd do a few more personals before going to bed. I really am going to try and keep up this week. :)
Annie - that's fantastic about the clothing. I've been waiting a while before trying some of my smaller clothes on but today I noticed that my shorts are starting to feel loose. And considering they're elastic waisted that's pretty good. I think personal training would be a great career (I thought about it myself). Good luck with what you decide. Julia - yes, I will be going. I'll have to double check where we're meeting, but why not? If your plans change do consider joining us. Sorry about the finger - I have a lovely burn on my upper arm this week. Wasn't paying attention when moving a pan (and didn't think it was that bad until hours later when it was too late). And congrats on fitting into the smaller skirt as well! Catherine - sounds like you have lots of sewing to keep yourself busy. I used to sew, but was never particularly good at it. My aunt in Scotland is fantastic (she used to design clothing for a living). I always thought I should have asked her for lessons when we were visiting. Well ladies, I'm off to bed now. Tomorrow's tasks will include some shopping, some cooking, and oh my - another attempt to get the cats to the vets. I wasn't around to describe last week's failed attempt. Let's just say that we've got a strategy, however, I don't hold a lot of hope for us winning. :) |
Hi All!
Just popping in to say hello. The day has been kind of hectic today so I haven't had a chance to post like I wanted to. But I wanted ya'll to know that I was thinking about you. I discovered over the weekend that sugar free pudding is loaded with a ton of salt! The vanilla kind I picked up to make at home had 450 mg's for a 1/2 cup and the chocolate had over 500 mgs. Naturally I didn't find this out until AFTER I ate a serving (you'd think I would be smart enough to look at the box first. Oh well). So now I'm downing the water trying to flush out the salt before tomorrow's weigh in. :dizzy: Well, signing off for now. DH is hollering that he's tired and wants to go to bed. Not sure why he can't go by himself...maybe he's afraid of the dark. :dunno: Hugs everybody...hope you have an awesome day!! M'Chelle :carrot: (you just gotta love a dancing carrot) |
The trip was great! Just wish my ankles or kankles as my BIL called them! LOL would go down completely!!!
As far as the aligator........I think it tasted almost like fried clams.....but then again I only had two itty bitty pieces since it was fried!.....liked it though! |

I found a babyblanket online..Its fleece with a blanket stitch around it and then a shell stitch worked into it. Its really cute.I will send the link to you in you want it. Im going to get the stuff tommorow to make it. carol_ how is the seminar?? julia_ great job on the smaller skirt! I wore a short skirt last week when i went with hubby to the dr. It hit me right at my knee. I had to really watch how i sat. Gosh i got use to the skirts around my calves..and i didnt have to watch how i sat in them.LOL Bee- I hope you have a great weigh in today. rat_ hi julee_ hugs dmpls_ hugs on the kankles...hubby gets them when his glucose is high. I have only had them a few times..but once was on my sons wedding day. You can even see them in the pictures. Keep drinking that water!! penny_ you are worth the gas!! I understand we have to drive to do anything around here. Its about 20 min to the gym here and i cant justify it either..but i dont have an excuse not to go to the basement and hit the weights again. I think I will start back lifting when school starts back and im back to kidos full time.Looks like i have them most of this week and most of next and then back at it full time. Hope i didnt miss anyone..sorry if i did!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day |
Julia: Woo hoo on the skirt fitting. Were you able to find any other treasures?
Catherine: I so love to hear about the clothes you are going to sew. I brought out my sewing machine the other day and made a swim suit a bit shorter in the straps over the shoulders. It is a suit someone gave me in an 18 but it is stretched out on the shoulders and that made it a bit better but I should have actually put it on and measured it because it could use some more. lol. Anne: Try on the Clothes! Good luck getting your kitties to the vet. Mchelle: Wow. I didn't realize that sugar free pudding has so much salt in it either. I will have to be more careful. Thanks for the heads up. Bernice: Keep drinking the water and soon your ankles will look like new again. Debi: Good luck to your brother. I will keep him in my prayers. What is his first name? Pm me if you don't want to write it on here. Ratkitty: Hi girl. I missed you last night when I posted. Well, I rode my bike home from the car dealership and it took me 25 minutes. I am riding to my meeting and back tonight so that will be about an hours worth or riding. It should be a good workout today. lol. I have ironing to do and it should be a good day for that as it is cloudy and possible rain coming. I am watering the yard just in case it doesn't rain. I hope everyone has a wonderful op, water drinking and bootie moving day. Blessings, Annie |
Anne, how was the sunshine? I hope you enjoyed it and it stays sunny for ya, just not too hot!
Yes, company is fun to have, but it's also nice when they go home. Annie, have fun on the bike! Sounds like you've been putting some serious time on it. Already in 18s and 20s huh? That's fantastic!!! I think you would be great at either the physical therapist or trainer!! Julia, hooray on the skirt fitting! I bet you'll find more things that will too. Hope hubby gets in a better mood soon Catherine, the layered coat sounds interesting. You have to take pics so we can check out your inventions. Do you have all your yo yos in little covers? M'Chelle, that's pretty surprising that jello pudding would be loaded with salt. Ya just never know. Debi, yep, I crochet, but not during the summer. Too darn hot. I have about 3 blankets started, but they can wait til it cools down. The blanket you mentioned sounds interesting. It sounds like your grandbaby will have lots of cute clothes to wear. She's going to be one lucky baby growing up with a Grandma who can sew. Gotta head out and get the bed ordered and pick up the carpet cleaner. Have a great day! Debbie |
Just for fun I looked out last week's attempt to go to the vet (I had put in on my blog)....
After lunch it was time for the vet visit. Grabbed the easy to catch cat (Gus) and put him into the bathroom. He doesn’t mind much, in fact if you don’t leave something blocking the door he shuts himself in. The little, freakishly fast cat (Shadow), now he was a problem. This is a cat that eats anything and will follow you anytime you have food that he thinks he might like. He will knock the bigger cat away and take his food whenever possible. So, not planning ahead, I grabbed a piece of turkey (which he ate more than his share of at lunch) and tried to lure him downstairs to where the cage was. “No sorry, I’m sleeping. Just leave it on the floor I’ll get it later.” Well, he didn’t say that, but that’s what he was thinking. He was up underneath the dining room table and I knew if I tried to grab him it wasn’t going to work. I should have brought the cage closer at this point. He finally decided to get up and at least lick the turkey. I figured he looked drowsy so I’d take a chance. I picked him up and started slowly down the stairs. About two steps into the journey he freaked out (neither of them like being carried, trust me, I’ve tried to get them used to it). A short struggle ensued and I eventually caved and let go. I’ve been scratched to bits onces before and it’s not fun. He did bite me once but that was (partly) my own fault. See, we used to take the old cats on a collar and leash. So, I quietly put the collar on, he went nuts, and afraid that he would hurt himself I tried to take it off. See, all my fault. :) So, down the stairs he went, through the family room and up onto the bar. I got a little too close and he jumped down the back of the bar and tried to escape up the stairs. My mother thought it would be a good idea to block his escape… so into the crawlspace he went. At this point I gave up, canceled the appointment and let Gus out of the bathroom. Shadow spent the rest of the afternoon in the crawlspace, although once he smelled dinner cooking he managed to sneak back upstairs so he could get his share. Oh yes, and after dinner, Gus locked himself in the bathroom just for old times sake. I’m quite serious about this. He’s stopped sleeping in the bathrooms since we made it impossible for him to lock himself in. ---- So today will be attempt #2. If it doesn't work I'm going to leave it for a couple of weeks! |
I had a lot of questions about the coat I'm making. As a pear, a serious practically Christmas tree shaped pear body, coats are so hard to buy. If they zip up around my hips, they are so big on top and the arms are too long. If they fit me on top, I can't zip them. At my largest, I had a mans, 5X coat that I had to shorten the arms, and split the sides up like a poncho almost, and put a shorter zipper. That was okay for the occasional cold weather in Florida.
Here in the frozen North, that isn't good enough. I bought a nice down parka before I came up, that just did fit, and gained weight after getting married, so it sits in the closet. I survived the first winter with a hoodie and waist length jacket. Last winter I went with hoodie and down vest, and liked that better. When it was coldest, I just kind of dealt with it or stayed home. That's not going to be an option this fall because I'll be going out to the campus more often, and I can't miss a class because it is too cold. So, I'm going to make a vest, and a zip up hooded jacket, both out of polartec 200, and a hooded jacket out of a coated supplex. Each will be two-four inches longer than the inner one. The arm holes will be larger to accommodate the inner layers. Basically, I want to be able to wear vest on cool days, jacket on cooler, vest and jacket on cold, with the rain layer on raining or snowing days over the top of whatever I need underneath. On really cold windy days, I want to be able to wear all three comfortably. I'm still working out some of the design details. I've got my pattern cut out ready to alter. I buy to fit my top part, and then alter the bottom. That's much easier. I think I've decided on slash pockets, elastic cuffs, and maybe a bungee drawstring at the bottom hem of the jacket, but not the others. I will let you know how it goes when I actually start cutting. The fleece came in the mail yesterday, so I'm ready to go materials wise. I just need to clear my mending off the table to have room to start cutting. I swear he needs a full time tailor to follow him around. He came in yesterday with a large slash cut across the front of a shirt, and had no idea how it got there. I expected his intestines to be hanging out at the least. It was an enormous cut. I wonder how much kevlar costs a yard. I think he needs to wear battle gear as quickly as he rips through stuff. |
Hello!
Julia-I think I need the cattle prod out today for them to finish, they aren't in the mood! HA! HA! Small skirt, Yeah! Catherine-I'm jealous of all the sewing you do! It sounds like you will have to post some pics! Debbie-All I can crochet is a granny square and that has been a long time ago! Glad you can do that. I usually start quilts in the spring so I have something to hand quilt when it get colder here too. It is nice to have that to cover with when working on it. Annie- good for you bike riding! I went out this morning and did 4 miles. It started to get hot so I them came inside and was on the tread mill for 30 minutes. Gotta keep moving or I will fall asleep today I think. Carol- How is the seminar going? dgramie-I know it is just gas, but I feel like I have to justify everything! I am working less hours again so I think that plays into the cost. But I am going to go today. ratkitten-I am good at procrastinating sometimes too! Well, young daughter says she is "starving" so I better fix her some lunch! I will yak later. Penny |
Sending cool vibes to those suffering with heat! I cant stand it being too hot! Give me cold and snow anyday! :dizzy:
Im feeling so rough today, Im really coming down with a bad flu. My husband was able to come home early and take care of the baby for a bit so I managed to get some extra rest which was good. On the good side it has meant me wearing pj's all day. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and I could really see that the small amount of weight Ive lost so far has come off my extra tyre above the waist and my tummy which is really pleasing. Ive got 9 weigh-ins before our little holiday, and Im currently about 24 lbs off pre-baby weight. Its also hit me today that I could be really close to that, if not that weight for our trip. Ive got lovely clothes waiting for me! :carrot: |
Debbie-my yoyos are ensconsced in an old laptop bag, each in their own custom round slot in a piece of hard foam. I've got one on order right now that is a new design from a man who used to be an aerospace engineer. Can't wait for it to get here.
Annie-So you're stretching out the shoulders on swim suits now. Promise me that you're not going to break out in green skin. |
Since I'm here and have a little free time I'll see what I've missed this morning. I moved around my rest days, so now Tuesday and Saturday are my free days during the week. This was mainly so I could have steak and corn on Sundays. I add 250cals on my exercise days so it means on Sunday I'm only eating a third of my calories at dinner instead of closer to forty percent.
I'm now searching for breakfast foods other than eggs. I'm getting a little tired of them but I still need to keep the protein levels up. My personal preference if left to my own devices would be bread, jam, and fruit. Yep, not much protein there. So this morning I reworked my mother's scones that she normally has with jam. I swapped out the white flour for a combo of whole wheat & wheat gluten. It already has oats but I replaced most of the fat with applesauce. They actually turned out pretty good. I had two for my midmorning snack (with cheese) and at 201cals are pretty substantial. My breakfasts vary but since they're usually well over 350cals I think these are quite doable. We're kind of having a general breakfast 'competition' on the fitness board I log my workouts on. I'm not sure how I got roped into it because I'm not a baker. It came out of a conversation how I like lightening up my favourite foods. Suddenly we're working on breakfast baking... and I think I'm supposed to come up with a high protein muffin. I'm not quite sure how that happened. However, since I'm getting sick of eggs, and I'll be starting school in the fall it's probably not a bad thing to be working on. Since I hate eating really early I wouldn't mind having something portable I could eat quickly before class (even if it's in my car in the parking lot). Can you tell I'm not a morning person? M'Chelle - that's the one thing I don't really pay attention to - salt. I do know that the extra water should help though. Diet products often contain lots of additives to make us forget that they're diet. I remember looking at low-cal ice cream bars one night: sugar, caramel color, dextrose, palm oil, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup - well, the list goes on. And I edited out some of the ingredients. I'm not sure that sugar and high fructose corn syrup should really be in diet products, but that's just me. I put down the 140cal bars and bought the 200cal ones with less ingredients. Anyway, good luck on your weigh-in next week. Bernice - I know more than 10 years ago I had a piece of alligator in Louisiana, but like yours, I think it was fried so it just tasted fried. That's probably a good thing though. Debi - glad you're getting some relief. I plan to try the clothes on about mid-Aug so I'll know what I have to start school with. And if I need to I can take some of the tops in a bit. Annie - thanks for the good wishes. I posted last week's vet attempt. I can laugh at it but I know I hate taking them. The two little angels are sleeping on the bar (they followed me down for my morning snack and decided to stay). I thought of trying to get them now but don't want to leave them in the cage for more than an hour. I know they will come upstairs for lunch meat, they always do. Wow, I'm impressed with the amount of riding you are doing. Sounds like Biker Chick might have a sister. Debbie - it's not bad out today. We're starting to get lots of little ripe tomatoes. My zucchini is not so hot though. I'll give them a week and then I'm going to try hand pollinating them. I think maybe I'm just being impatient though. Usually I'm not around so much (ie. not looking at them daily). This is how we usually get monster zucchini! Catherine - I don't know the material it was made of but I had a jacket that I bought for our freighter trip. It was light nylon on the outside with a fairly light cloth lining on the inside. I bought it big so I could wear a vest underneath it. It was a perfect solution. It kept rain/snow out and with the vest it was very warm. I put it on yesterday and it's way too big (it was big on purpose at 330lbs). I'm really thinking I'd like to try taking it in but I'm not sure I'm good enough at that. My mother has a friend who does alterations so I might see if she's up to it. If not I might as well try it anyway, since I can't wear it as is. Penny - I always thought I could win a contest when it comes to procrastination. Of course that would mean I'd have to show up. :) Sara - that's great that you're seeing changes. I'm horrible at admitting to them myself. I still see the person I was (which is a shock because I feel so much better) instead of who I am. I hope as I continue to lose weight I'll get better at seeing the changes. I hope it's only a short flu bug (fingers crossed). Well, I should go upstairs so the cats aren't sleeping still at lunch time. Oh, I really don't want to go to the vets... |
Well, I know that Shadow knew something was up. It certainly wasn't smooth - but they are both in their crates. And I don't have any new scratches to show for it!

Hey, Well older daughter went to dentist to get her teeth cleaned and hubby upstairs working, younger daughter at the library. She should be home soon as she wants to go swim. We will be heading to town shortly. I have a few other things to do while there. Still waiting for hubby to get the gym together, maybe today. I at least have bike and treadmill. Time to get his magazines cleaned out of corner. It thought maybe I would not have to be the one to do it. So since I am, who knows how many will be left! HA! HA! Dog is doing well and learning not to run out the door ever time it opens! He now is into jumping on the door when one of the girls go out! (That's why the blind looks bad behind my avatar) (now you will all look, right) Well, it just got worse today. Any ideas on what to do so he doesn't get so excited about going out? Hubby says eventually we will be able to leave him and not have to put him into the crate when we run to town. I am not too sure. Even though I know the cat can take care of himself he likes to chew on things when he gets bored. He gets alot of exercise which someone suggested he needed. But, if he sees a stuffed animal, he wants to chew on it. All you dog people have any ideas for me to try? Young daughter is worried he will go into her bedroom and chew up her Build a Bear cat & giraffe, so we have to block rooms off. Right now it works as the cat needs his space too. Thanks, Penny

Debbie: Don't work too hard.
Catherine: I guess I didn't explain it well. The swim suit was already stretched out when I got it. lol. So, I attempted to make it smaller. I'm trying anything to not have to buy one for a while. So I sewed the shoulders smaller but not small enough. Your jackets sound nice. I can't wait to see pics. Anne: I loved your first attempt at taking the kitties to the vet. Sorry you got scratched though. Glad you got them in the crate this time without much incident. Penny: Great job with all the exercise. Unless you catch your dog in the "Act" of being distructive I don't have any suggestions. Sorry. Sara: Feel better very soon. Blessings, Annie |
Annie-I thought you were just bragging about how big your muscle bound shoulders were becoming, what with all the wrestling going on.
|
Hiya Peeps - it's over - thank goodness. I'm beat but wanted to check in - the scale was down 1.75 pounds this week. Now need to do a weeks worth of work tomorrow since I'm off Thursday.
Hugs to all, Carol |
