Plus sized model...

  • I read a thread somewhere around here about Queen Latifah being Jenny Craig's new woman... lol Anyway... not sure where I found it, but for those of you interested in an 'actual' plus sized model- here you go

Her name is Charlotte Coyle- she's originally from Northern Ireland but started working in the US with Torrid- which is a plus sized fashion set from the people who own Hot Topic lol

Anyway- she's a size 18 and looks plus sized... thought I needed to showcase someone who can actually say- they are plus sized... hehe

    here's Torrid's site...

Interesting side note-- Victoria's Secret size 16... is smaller than the Torrid's size 14- Go figure...
    Victoria's Secret's 16...
    Chest: 41
    Waist: 33
    Hip: 43.5

    Torrid's 14
    Chest: 42- 43.5
    Waist: 35-36.5
    Hip: 45-46.5
  • I wonder if that has anything to do with Torrid being a 14W and Victoria secret being a 16 Misses...

Charlotte Coyle is pretty and it is encouraging to see someone comfortable in their own skin!
  • Queen Latifah was endorsing Jenny Craig...are you saying she's switched to Weight Watchers?
  • RoyalAthena- Ann- I hadn't even noticed that, my mom used to be a huge victoria secret shopper, lol now that she wears a 16/18 she cant wear them LOL Makes sense....Good looking out!!

I think it's great she puts herself out there and has the confidence.. when I'd be worried about a roll not looking right- Oh to have that kind of self confidence
  • Cheree- no! You corrected me, thank you for that LOL I knew it was one of them. Will edit my post LOL
  • She looks fantastic! If I look half as good at that size Id be thrilled!

Looking through though photos you can really see how the clothes also make a difference. On the last page she is wearing some tops that make her look a lot bigger.
  • SumoiSara-

It definitely has a lot to do with the clothes! I was playing around online last night- and found this- it helps choose clothes for body types- didn't really get much into picking out clothes but there's tons of little tidbits. It's worth a look, oddly enough- the girls do look great dressed

  • Bettyred, I think I may be dense, but I followed all the instructions, but I don't know what shape I am. They gave me clothing suggestions (of which I like many), but not the letter that correlates best. I can't figure out from the pictures, either, as many of the letters apply to me.

I'm sure I'm overlooking it somewhere!
  • AliceEep- Jen- The site is on over load with some of the graphics- too many things going on, I wouldn't consider you dense at all! lol

After you have signed up, and entered your measurements- pain- because it takes so long... it will come up with the Start Shopping screen and below the start shopping button it has your body type Once you click that button- it will be in the Personalized shopping tab- up top. It should have your name and then it will say Personal Shop- A *in my case- or whatever letter they have figured you to be
    Hope that helps!
  • Do you know, she (Ms Coyle) had a small documentary on tv over here. She was trying to get some curvier girls to feel good about themselves and teach them how to be models. It was great to see the girls at the end strutting there stuff and lookin fab.
  • elusivekoolaid-That's awesome! I only just found out about her- I think it's great that no matter where you are located there's a need for feeling beautiful at any size...just means that more and more people are bucking the establishment... not everyone is a size 2, or 6 for that matter... screw the forced vision of beauty.... lol
  • too right, bettyred! I want to lose weight to be healthy. I like being curvy and I only want to shed a bit so I'm not as ahem curvy as I am now. In no way do I want to be too small, who wants to be the size and have the bust of a twelve year old?! xo
  • Thanks Bettyred! I guess I'm an A too.
