Default 300+ Must Move in May Exercise Thread



to the May exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

And you want to jump in, because one of the main reasons to be here is to track how many minutes we exercise as a group! In 2007, we exercised over 200,000 minutes...

I was successful for Aprils goal! First time I ever set an exercise goal! This month I will strive for 1000 min. That breaks down to aprox 33 min a day!

Im in and im going for a 1000 in May. Im hoping to get my 800 for april finished up today. I had never tracked exercise before...im amazed at how fast it adds up.

Hi there. Im a newbie, and I stumbled upon you guys. I just started doing this same thing last month and would love to join in. My goal last month was 800 mins, and I went over! So, this month, I'm in for 1000 too.

I'm not setting a "goal" for this month, but I'll join in!

And I'll start off! I walked to work today - 20 minutes total (after I walk back).

Group total = 20 minutes!

Since I want to get back to doing the Push.TV workouts to help with strength/toning and not cut back on the cardio as a result -

my personal goal will be for 1200 minutes this month

No slacking off allowed!

My birthday is Monday, so I'm going to give myself the gift of better health by setting an exercise goal too. I've never done this before, so I'm starting with a goal of 300 minutes for May.

I was off by 5 mins for last month (my fault for not checking closer to the end of the month). I'm wavering with a goal for this month as I'm going to have a rest week from my strength training, and haven't decided if I'll back off the other exercising during that period as well. For now, I'm going to assume that I'm not.

So 10 days of strength training x 30 mins = 300
(although I think the new routines in the next level may take more time)

22 days of treadmill and/or swimming laps x 90 mins = 1980

Total for the month: 2280

----
And my 90 mins treadmill for the day....

Group total: 60 + 90 = 150

I'm not going to set a goal this month, because anything over 100 minutes is going to be higher than last month. I'll just add in my minutes to help us break that 200k barrier again this year.
