Today was my WI, didn't lose, didn't gain. So I'm changing up my diet plan and see if that helps any. On my graph for the month, I've gained and relost the same weight and ended up in the same place....281. So I'm done. I'm tired of trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong or right. So I'm going to follow a plan for a week or two and see what happens. I'm not discouraged!! I'll keep fighting the good fight. Just going to change things up and shock the system again. :D
Lauren, hey! Thats' great news on the weight loss. You're doing fantastci!! Battleax, I don't think my ex will take the chance of losing DS again, so I'm sure he's on his best behavior. The years that he and DS weren't talking, my ex would call my mom, drunk, and keep buggin her about DS not talking to him. Even though my son, dil and I weren't talking for 7 months....some good things came out of it. So I'm thankful for that. I see my dil getting up and doing more for my son, when before she would sit there doing nothing and ask DS to go get her something when he was busy doing something else. It also helped to get DS and his father back together. My dil thinks it's all her doing, and I just let her think that. Julia, yep, that popcorn can get ya good. Good choice on going back to air popped. Debi, sounds like you're going to have a pretty large garden this year. This will be our first with the veggies. I usually grow flowers. So it should be interesting. Have you tried carrots, cabbage, lettuce and radishes? That's what we're doing and the radishes are super long right now and I even had the grow light pretty close to them. So I'm just wondering if that's how they ar suppose to get. Anyhow, if we have good crops, I plan on learning to can and also give lots away. Good luck to you and your garden. Christina, what kind of resturant do you have? I bet it would be difficult to stay OP with all that around, or maybe it can work to your advantage being around all that food all the time that it numbs you to eating.....if we could be so lucky huh? Yes start with the baby steps. You don't want to go full on and set yourself up for a fall. That's how most of us started out was just one step at a time. Walrus, so glad the leg is improving. heather dw, I think it was Carol that went thru the same thing when she started exercising. I plan on getting back to exercise this weekend so I'm sure it will have the same effect on me but I know I can deal with it and get thru it. Don't give up!!! Have a great day ladies. We're off to do our shopping. Debbie |
Annie, ah...we were posting at the same time. I do the same thing when I go to the bathroom...flushing all that out!!! How funny the things we think of to keep us going.
I've got some bad news for ya....we just had rain....so I don't know if it's headed in your direction, but be ready. Take an umbrelly with ya! Debbie |
Debbie- just don’t hurt yourself lifting the bags. The grocery thinks I’m nuts, and I think he has decided I’m some kind of secret shopper sent from the home office to see how he would deal with someone throwing their bit right in the store. I’d do it with the big bags of rice they sell, except there wasn’t 200 lbs of rice left in the whole place.
Julee-With the way the price of gas is going up, big car repair bills are going to start looking small in comparison. We trade in our air miles for gas coupons for our friends that give us rides in the middle of the night to the hospital or to the grocery store. In the past, they didn’t seem to care, but now they grab them up eagerly. You can accumulate a lot of air miles when you buy $1200/mon in medication. Battle-a PM is on the way to you. I’ve had requests from people I don’t even know who are apparently lurkers on our forum. I’m getting to do some outreach to try to lure them from just being lurkers. I’m back on the horse today. I was sick for so long, that just trying to get me to eat was a battle. How a person can gain 20 pounds on broth, I’ll never know, and the no-sodium broth at that. Carol-I made tika masala last night. It’s supposed to be kind of Indian stir fry. We only eat chicken breast or salmon, so I have to find different ways of fixing it. We got taken out to eat by the man who purchased the first copy of my book. He flew over from Vancouver if you can believe it. I was having visions of Misery. Anyway, himself ordered a T-bone and ate it like it was his last meal. Poor thing never gets red meat at home. I didn’t do the chicken stir fry. I basically look for interesting sauces on the ethnic aisle, and just put it on top of the chicken and then bake. It wasn’t as hot as I thought it was going to be. I’m going to try the green curry next. Sodium is always an issue, but I use a small amount, and check labels carefully. Salsa verde on top is one of his favorites. Debi- that’s so horrible that your sil died in the dentist’s chair. I have high blood pressure, and have had so much work done over the years, that I am terrified to go as it is. Valium helps, helps a lot. Sometimes it helps so well, I forget I’ve gone to the dentist. I have to have an escort to the appointment though. When I was at my heaviest, my periods stopped for years. When I lost below a certain weight, they started again, regular as a clock like noting had happened. There are some doctors that believe being overweight causes PCOS instead of the other way around. Stomach weight especially can be like having another large hormone producing organ. I have a clipping somewhere about the number of chemicals, and I think it was 40-60, some outrageous number. It’s one of the reasons it is so hard to lose weight. It has its own defensive system. Christina- That’s what I did, the only thing I did for about the first 9 months, just cut out junk food. No ordering in, or drive through. Everything I ate, I prepared at home, with no concern about portion size or calories. Just doing that, I lost 80 pounds. That was a big change to make for me. It’s ingrained, it’s easy. Walrus-Isn’t it amazing how when we do a bit of exercise, that we are so much more willing to go off the diet. When you Mexican, do the tortilla soup and corn tortillas, not the fried ones either. Corn tortillas run 25-50 calories a piece, and the tortilla soup, or limon soup, or pozole are only about 200 for a big bowl. That’s also more like how real Mexicans eat anyway. I’ve never seen a chimichanga south of the border in a non-American franchise restaurant. That word in Spanish means basically thingamagig. If they did have them, they’d probably be made with iguana or some kind of rodent. Heatherdw-I had the same problem. I actually broke my toe once kicking the scale. One scale had to be punished under the wheels of my van. That was sweet. When you start exercising, you have to increase your calories. When I started walking, I was around 500 pounds, and at that weight, I would burn more calories with a good burp than a 100 pound woman does running a marathon. Exercise charts just don’t give a good accounting of how many calories we burn. People our size don’t buy bikes or exercise clothes, or swimsuits, etc. according to the powers that be. I don’t think it is just the calories either. I think our bodies throw out all kinds of fear chemicals when we exercise. Your body needs to know it won’t starve before it will allow you to burn. I have to have around 600 calories before going for just one hour of water aerobics. Try eating right before you walk to trick your body. I am going to get the house re-arranged today if it kills me. I’m supposed to be going to a committee meeting this afternoon, but the sidewalks are just too icy. I belong to the provincial committee against human trafficking, and we are getting ready for an educational campaign. With the labor shortage here, we are getting a lot of foreign workers being brought in, especially from Eastern Europe, and getting taken advantage of. It’s not all sex workers, but we also have our share of that as well, especially in the oil boom town up north of us. We’ve got one prostitute serial killer on trial right now, and at least one more active. I got tired of walking past missing posters on sign posts on my way to church. Our education campaign is going to focus on the junior high level. There has got to be some way to reach girls to make them understand that their bodies aren’t a commodity, that they are precious. Okay, I will get off my soap box. |
Annie-Doesn't it seem strange to have a doctor tell you to eat more?

Oh Catherine...I try to get that message across to our girls as well. They start going to the Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties and dress like street walkers. They are starting to develop sooner and their mothers let them walk out of the house in whatever. I have one 9th grade girl who is very developed physically and very immature emotionally...who has never had a stable mother figure in her life...I fear she is going to tease the wrong guy some day. They think they can just throw it all out there and that it's nobody's business but their own. Sigh. It's supposed to be Africa hot here again this weekend...not happy. I bought the new FitFlops finally because I ran into a woman at the nail salon who was wearing them and loves hers. I definately like the way they feel...deep heel support and nice arches. We'll see if walking in them makes a difference. |
Catherine, that does make sense. When I was trying to eat 17-1800 calories a day, the weight loss almost stopped. When I upped it to 1900-2000, it started moving down again. Perhaps moving it up to 2100? It's crazy that I have to go up to go down
:dizzy: |
Heatherdw-I have to go about 2500 when I am exercising regularly. I know it will make you nuts. When I had one of my long plateaus, I kept cutting. When I cut to 1000, I started gaining weight, but losing hair. Went the other way, and started losing. It's like I'm some kind of strange science experiment.
|
I'm not doing a ton of exercise though.. just 25-30 mins of walking outside. I know fitday gives me only like.. 130 cals burned but I somehow doubt it's that low. Maybe for someone who weighs way less than me, it may be correct
|
Heatherdw, I am going to say this again, and hope that this time is the charm. You are headed for trouble if you expect to see daily results. This is a long term project and there will be weeks, months maybe, when you do not see a loss on the scale. Yes, you have to play around with the calorie levels to hit the sweet spot sometimes, and you may have to change it up as you lose, but expecting immediate results will get you nowhere. You are making yourself crazy over something unrealistic, and frankly it is coming across as a lot of whining in the face of the continued patient support and explanations from the group here.

Just a check in since the weather is adversely affecting my body once again. WI today and I'm teetering on the edge ready to fall into the 200s...300.4 so hopefully just 1 more week in the 3s, but if not next week I know I will get there.
No personals for me today, but I hope to feel better and catch up over the weekend. Except for ditto to what Battle had to say Heather_dw. She said it very well. I've been successful with my weight loss, but I've had many weeks, not days that the scale doesn't move and adjustments have to be made to calorie intake, water, protein and/or fat levels, exercise levels, any number of things. Just relax, stay OP tweaking when necessary and you will see results. Wishing everyone a warm Spring weekend staying OP and drinking your water. |
Debbie: Thanks for the warning on the rain. It has hailed a bit here and there and rained a bit here and there then sunny. lol Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny as well as Sunday so praying they are right. In between the rain/hail, I rode my bike a couple of miles. It was so nice but something is wrong with the peddal. Even though the bike is new and I have not ridden it I let my nieces ride it when they were here last summer and one of them wrecked on it so poo. Now that needs to be fixed.
Catherine: It is especially disheartening when the Dr. telling me to eat more is a twig! lol. Julie: I hope that it isn't too hot for you. Battle: Hi there. Heatherdw: Hi Johnnie: I am rooting for you to come down to the 200's very soon. How awesome! Well, I had a tiny bit of the venison roast for dinner and carotts and yellow onions. It was very good. I also made garlic mashed potatoes and tasted a tiny spoon of them as well. They were all delicious and I'm sure DH will be thrilled to have them for dinner. The venison was very lean which was nice. I hope you all had a wonderful day and that the promise of good wheather tomorrow for all of us stands. blessings, Annie |

I had 1 1/2 which totaled less than 2 ounces!!! but my stomach is killing me.....or it could be those two biscuits!! LOL ttyl everyone! Annie----celebrate your 1/2 of you gone!!! Was just talking to DH about the fact that 10% of me is gone!!! only 40% of me more to shed! that will put me at my goal! ok gonna get offline now ttyl Bernice |

I had a busy day with the kids. Today was one of the TGIF days.
Hubby has slept off and on all day. We were suppost to go to a ceromony at daughters college tonight but we decided that hubby isnt up to it. I have no one around to stay with him so i didnt get to go....and she won . It was an induction dinner to the OAK and IVY . Its a big honor to be chosen. They only pick 7 . I am so sad that i didnt get to be with her!! She completly agrees that her dad isnt up to a formal dinner right now... debbie_ this is our second year so we are still learning and no i have never planted any of those veggies. I am thinking about moving some of mine to the ground early next week. my youngest came home today with her cap and gown for graduation. Its hard to believe my baby is graduating from high school. I am so thankful she is going to stay home another year or so before she leaves home. She is going to get her nursing degree at a community college an hour away. Life sure moves fast!!! have a great weekend everyone hugs |
