300+ Weekly Thread #1151

WELCOME

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!

Good morning everyone.
Dmpls - glad you had a wonderful visit with your son. I cant wait till this coming weekend to have my family together.
debbie_ glad the mucinex is helping...I may get some today and try...I still have all this crud in my head and chest. This mess has really done a number on me.
battle_ that is awesome about the chairs!!

I woke up with a muscle spasm in the bottom of my foot. ITs killing me still...guess i need to eat some banannas. I am just about out of all my diet food. I have been to sick to go to the store. GUess I will try and go sometime this week.

Anyone got ideas for low cal finger foods. I have to make some stuff for my brothers reception this weekend. They are trying to save some money on the reception and have asked all the family members to bring a couple of finger foods. We did this with my older brothers wedding and the food was awesome and cheap. Some thinks it tacky to bring dishes but it is saving them a big expense and ours will taste so much better!!!
well happy monday morning everyone
debi

Hello all! I hope everyone with birthdays had a wonderful day! Sorry the wishes are late.
It was a very long week so I didn't get to here much. This week will be long too! But I will update real quick before I have to get out the door for work. Well the problems with the truck. . . we went and picked up the transmission and hopefully the guy will have it in today or tomorrow. Then it can go to the auto shop to have the front end fixed that the snow plow hit. YEAH! It is almost back together. Then my grandmother passed away so plans for that the next couple of days. And making the arrangements for my son in the service to make it home for the funeral. I have to find someone to cover work for the next couple of days but have to work today as there is no one, "the mail must be delivered!" GOVERNMENT! You would think that people could survive one day! HA! HA!
On a positive note, weigh in yesterday and I lost 3.8 lbs. !!!!!!! Hubby lost 5 lbs. and younger daughter lost 1 lb. older daughter not home to weigh. I is spring break so went to stay with my brother and family and a day with my sister and family. She said she is having a good time even with all that has been happening. Oldest son and his wife and son can over yesterday for the afternoon. It was a good time. Still not sure about the wife, she is just not "we" would have chosen for our son. But we will see. some days it works for them, some days not! Grandmothers death is hard on him since he was born on her birthday. Wife just needs to get priorities straight. She is not even taking time off of work to be with him at the funeral. She said she didn't know her and can't take off. Whatever I said, and that "I didn't care if it was my husbands 16th cousin on his uncles wifes side of the family, I would be with my husband no matter what!" Although my husband knows how I feel and that we would be with each other and support each other through anything, she just said no! It is hard to watch the two of them together sometimes. Well, I have wrote not a short few lines to catch up but have blurted alot!!!!! I MUST get to work even though I only have to walk a half block. I am the Boss. Thanks for listening and all of you for caring. Love you all! Penny

Heather 03-24-2008 08:16 AM

Bernice -- Thanks for starting the new thread! It helps to also put the STOP notice on the old thread so people don't post there too. Then I come along and close it!

Remember that 1/2 off Easter candy isn't talking about the calories, ladies! It's NOT a bargain!

rainbowsmiles 03-24-2008 10:09 AM

hahaha heather!!! love that thought....if 1/2 off candy was REALLY 1/2 off calories! too funny!
happy day everyone :)

Well...yesterday was the big "showdown" with the in-laws. FIL as usual tried to keep the peace and MIL tried to be all stoid and even threw in a few "I don't remember that"s when DH called her on the events that had occurred. But then she strated to cry...which we had expected and oh goodness what a nut she is.
"We've never gone this long without calling and I thought you didn't love me anymore." Really? Really really? Yeah so we smoothed her ruffled feathers and assured her that she is still loved and after all that she STILL would not give up on the no birthday gift thing...it was just sick and sad.

Then I got her to admit that her switching out my birthday gift was out of spite and that she was indeed showing her anger, trying to make a point and punishing me. I told her (in nicer words) that she ruined my birthday dinner and then afterwards I took her into the kitchen, admitted that yes I am very sensitive about the whole baby issue but that mentioning it all the time makes me very uncomfortable and that right now having a baby would be irresponsible on our parts...and would she please just stop.

So all in all it wasn't a disaster. I don't feel like we got closure at all but we'll see how long this lasts.

Food was OK...had a good breakfast at our fave diner and I got full mid-way through...hooray! Then after being at the in-laws we went to a going away party for a friend of mine from work. I did well but it's so hard to stay tight on points when there is salmon there. I love salmon and this had been BBQed and then chilled so it was divine. I avoided all the desserts except for 1 piece of chocolate and ate a lot of salad.

Then it was off to work last night for dress rehearsal from 3pm-10pm. I knew that the costume manager was bringing dinner for the kids so I brought a SmartOnes and stayed out of the kitchen. I went home last night so sore...DH is staying home "sick" today and wall I ant is to crawl back into bed with him and snuggle all day.

But you know that could never happen.

Off to the trenches again...

heather_dw 03-24-2008 03:11 PM

I'm trying to brush myself off from "family time" on Easter. I don't think they were being intentionally offensive, they're just oblivious and partially insensitive about the whole thing. They pretend my miscarriage never happened and the thing that hurts the most is that it NEVER crosses my mother's mind that I would ever have a baby. I wonder if it's because of my size? :?:

So this morning the scale was up 2 pounds. I know that's BS and probably water retention. I only got in 60 oz of water yesterday when I usually get 76-92oz. I know for darn sure that I didn't eat 7000 extra calories to gain 2 pounds of fat. :D I've already had 44 oz of water and I've done WATP 1 mile walk, so I'm well on my way today. Hopefully, tomorrow that 2 pounds will be gone again ;)

dogpal 03-24-2008 04:06 PM

Angie: :)

Debbie: I am so happy for you that your son wants to come and talk. Hugs, hugs, hugs.

DMPLS: Woohoo on another -2!

Debimithc: Maybe you need to up your water? I know when I don't drink enough I get cramps in my legs.

Penny: Huge congrats on the -3.8 more pounds. So very sorry about your Grandma. Hugs.

Julee: Glad you talked with your in laws sorry it wasn't more productive though.

Well, I went to an interview this morning and it wasn't great. They were very rude. The owner/interviewer even told her daughter in law, who was also in the room taking notes, something to the effect of my "Claimed" computer skills. It was weird but I was gracious and if they do call and offer me the job I will decline. I have 3 more interviews this week and the one job I have been hoping for may just open up very soon. I am expecting a call back from her any time. All in all I feel much better about things especially not having to work at my previous employment. I am so happy today.

Blessings all,
Annie

BattleAx 03-24-2008 04:33 PM

Hi Chickies,

Yesterday was a bad eating day, but today is a new chance to be on plan. I'm feeling very positive about my journey lately, even with the slipups.

Bernice: WTG on -2 lbs!

Debi: I'm not feeling too creative about thinking of dishes you can bring, but I am not one who thinks asking others to bring food is tacky. Not in the least. A wedding shouldn't have to put the couple into debt, and I, for one, am more interested in sharing the experience than feeling they have to meet a certain party standard.

Heather: You are not kidding about the Easter candy! I'm trying to stay out of the stores until the Easter candy is gone.

Rainbow: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! I hope all your dreams come true.

Julee: You're handling the food challenges like a pro.

I hope your MIL lays low for a while. You know that won't be the end to her tricks, but the more you and DH call her on it, the better. At least, that has been my experience with people like your MIL.

Heatherdw: Enjoy your WATP. I always find that exercise improves my moods.

Annie: At least the employer showed you how he was going to be right up front. Now you know that is not the place for you.

Penny: Woo Hoo on the huge loss!

Catherine: Happy belated birthday!!!!!! How was the hot dog party?

betty grrl 03-24-2008 04:52 PM

Debi: These are sooo good

Tortillia (La tortillia are only 1 pt for the large ones)
cream cheese (in the tub, softened)(fat free~herb flavors like that)
baby spinach (stems off)
low fat (fat free) deli turkey shaved

step 1: on the tortillia spread the cream cheese evenly over the tortillia (just enough to cover it-1 tub can do 3 or 4 tortillias
step 2: put a layer of spinach on top of the cream cheese
step 3: put a thin layer of the turkeyon top of the spinach layer
step 4: gently (but tightly), roll up the tortillia and wrap in plastic wrap and put in the fridge overnight
step 5: The next day, slice on a slight angel (or just straight down it's up to you.
step 6: Serve and Enjoy!!!

The nice thing about these are they are easy to prepare, very low in points and delicious! Spice it up with colour~use spinach tortillias, or sun-dried tomato tortillias. You can also try different deli meats or different cream cheeses. The choices are unlimited.

DMPLS 03-24-2008 06:28 PM

Debi- thanks yes we did have a great time! Even though I missed Anthony....Hope you have just as much fun with yours this weekend! Did it snow by you today? I walked out of work to snow flurries but driving home (3miles) the sun was shinning by my house! Weird weather huh???!! I agree on water with muscle spasms but you are also right to think about potassium as well. If you like seafood you could try my Ceviche, it is almost a salsa of sorts.....I usually use tortilla shells or tortilla chips.....but you can use wheat crackers or truiscuts to have people eat it with. I don’t think it is tacky at all! I can only pray that my oldest would do something of the sort.....but, already (2 years out) we are discussing buildings that will allow them to cater from a different place rather than use their company! LOL

Penny- WOW you poor thing such a week you’ve had! Hugs on your Grandmother’s passing. You know that you can call Red Cross and give them the funeral information and they will pay for your son to come home on emergency leave? I’ve had to do this several times for funerals and severe illness in my immediate family while my Dh was in the Army. CONGRATS on the -3.8!!!!!!! & dh as well as your dd!!!! That’s awesome! I know how hard it is to deal with a “different” family background-personality, in our child’s chosen ones.......we are seeing a little of this as well.....I just keep reminding myself “if they are happy with their situation I can be happy that they are happy” (even if I do not like what I see) I see this in a lot of younger couples, the “it’s not my relative, friend or I don’t know them so....” Isn’t it weird? I guess it is just different upbringings.

Heather- oh ok I will try to remember that LOL! I was the first one on this AM and wanted to post but didn’t want to post on last weeks (for the first time since I’ve been here!) LOL So I looked at weeks past and saw that not just the moderator had posted the opening thread for the week.....so I took the chance! ROFL at your ½ off joke! So true!!! I am very proud to say the only chocolate candy I ate for easter was today I had one hersey’s kiss! (25 cals)

Julee- sorry to hear about the “showdown” but at least it is over. What kind of performance is it that you are rehearsing? Hoping you had a good day at work and didn’t think about those comfy pillows & DH at home too much!

Heather_dw- all we can do is work on how we perceive what others say to us, and what their intentions were when they said it. My older sister would literally chew me out when I called all excited about one of my pregnancies. I have 4 children all within 8 years most separation was 3 years between the two youngest. Each time I would call she would jump down my throat about how we couldn’t afford them and how would we pay for college etc.... I would get off the phone and BAWL my eyes out after the first 2 I didn’t call her to tell her about our third. I even told my mom not to mention it to her......because of the way she treated me before. Mom did of course and I got a phone call of course! YEARS later I told my sister how she made me feel and she had no clue that she even did it.....she apologized and told me she never would intentionally say something like that to me out of spite......but ummm my sis is very controlling and wants to fix everyone else’s problems LOL I at least was able to explain how it came across to me and she knows how much it hurt me. I can only encourage you to keep your spirits up and don’t let family discourage you!

Annie-THANKS! I’m excited to be that much closer to 280!!! Sorry about your interview but, like someone else stated at least you know how the boss would be! I was recently passed over for a position within my school and I know I have the computer knowledge as well as have volunteered at another school for the position! I think the main reason I was passed over was, the dress attire unspoken rule in our schools office. Most of the ladies in there are either related to each other somehow and they are all the ex-cheerleader, sorority girl “stereotypical” type of girl. I work with children that I have to “take-down” to the floor for behavioral issues daily (sometimes multiple times a day) so I am not going to wear my office clothing to the classroom. I did dress appropriately for the interview but I think it is the knowledge of my everyday clothing that hindered me. The position was never filled, they took another lady who’s position really runs slow towards springtime and placed her there temporarily.....not sure if it came open again if I would apply. Something will come up for you I know it will!

Battle- Thanks for the nice comment! I’m excited I’m still loosing!! It amazes me each week to see the number go down! A positive attitude is a great asset! I know how you feel some days with my exercise I feel I’ve let things slide but then I just think of something positive to tell myself and feel better.

Betty- I love those!!!! I’ve never used spinach but that sounds awesome!!! Will have to try that next time!!! OHHH and the bit about putting them in the fridge!!!! Wow never thought of that....I always fight cutting them since if they aren’t refrigerated the tortilla is kind of flimsy!!!

Well today I felt good about myself! Lately I’ve been fighting clothing issues....still in a 26 and I actually had to go out and get a couple of pants to where to work to make my outfits stretch more than a week! I am very self conscious about my clothing, I guess because the two girls that work with me dress in the latest fashions and are both skinny. (nevermind the fact that they are in there late 20’s early 30’s LOL) I feel at times they look at me and think “Old Lady” LOL! They gossip quite a bit about other people in the building and what they wear to work etc.... So I try to look stylish but without buying new clothing since my intention is to go DOWN in size its difficult.....anyhow I said all that to say today I felt like I had a cute outfit on.......and usually my outfits go unnoticed although I make it a habit to comment on either of theirs if they get something new or I haven’t seen them wear it to work. Today they were teasing me about “My Daily Obsession” as they deem TDP LOL and then one of them said your outfit looks nice and you are really looking great. They both are proud of me and treat me like I’m their mother rather than a coworker.....so I guess they take me for granted that I like to hear it when I wear something new and they’ve noticed....like they would their mother LOL

I will try to have DD take a picture of me in my work outfit....although I wore open sandals and did not paint my toenails AND it snowed this afternoon!!! LOL I felt great! I love knowing that my clothes aren’t binding anymore.........soon they will not fit me anymore and I will be in 24’s I hope!!!

Ok I guess that’s enough about me myself and I LOL talk to you girls later!

Toodles Poodles!

ZedAus 03-24-2008 06:45 PM

Debi - If I ever have to take a 'dessert' type food for a party I make something I can have a few of. I put half a strawberry and a marshmallow (we have bags of pink and white ones) onto a toothpick and simply arrange them nicely on a plate. I sometimes also have a few extra marshmallows (with extra toothpicks) in the middle sitting around a little bowl of non-fat chocolate pudding to dip them in. This all makes for a gorgeous display and I know it is something I can eat. Mind you, I mainly watch fats and carbs, so perhaps you may not eat marshmallows. I know that these are snapped up quickly by everyone.

We can also buy sausages (you may call them hot dogs - not sure) that are pure beef and don't have skins. I suppose they are basically a healthy meatball mixture in a sausage shape. I cook those and cut them up into bite-sized pieces and put a toothpick through them, then place them on a nice plate around a small bowl of sauce such as chilli sauce, for dipping. You could do the same with little meatballs and I think having two different sauces would be nice. You have probably thought of this type of thing, but I know that they are also devoured at parties. It is also another thing that I can partake in.

I would love to see other people's suggestions, so I can add something interesting next time I have to take morning/afternoon tea somewhere.

dgramie 03-24-2008 07:08 PM

Thanks everyone for the ideas.I have to make 4 things i just found out. I am actually excited about being able to help with the reception. I dont have to make anything sweet for this. THey have a chocolate fountain and cake. I know I am making ham and turkey with fatfree creamcheese rollups.
dmpls_ please share your recipe for ceviche.
Mom is making a huge relish tray and fruit tray. There will be lots of sandwiches and stuff.I would love to take buffalo chicken dip but I live an hour away and would have a hard time keeping it hot thru the wedding.
I may make a cheeseball with ff creamcheese.
Not sure what else yet.
Well my sister called me this morning and she is always on a diet. She does weight watcher and is really having trouble loosing. She is going to try my counting calories for a week or two. I sure hope it works for her.
well Im going to go and work out for the first time in a week. I am feeling better finally.

TheWalrus 03-24-2008 07:23 PM

Those turkey wraps sound great -- I'll try them after I go grocery shopping (I think I'll add roasted red peppers to them, too...mmmm!). Frustrating day today -- lots of work, too much internal tension, not enough outlet. I wanted to go for a walk tonight but think I may have overdone it this weekend. I'll be out moving around tomorrow, though :)

Have a great week, everyone!

sandybar 03-24-2008 07:58 PM

Heather dw You have us and are important to us. We're friends no matter what. My mom was the same way. You are important, you are a good person. So please, remember that when you're feeling sad.

Debi M For those that think it's tacky to have a carry-in for a wedding are self righteous & selfish people. A wedding is a cause for celebration. It's a way to show love and support for the couple. This day is for them, not to satisfy the fancy desire of others. Urgh! It makes me mad. Not everyone has 5,000 or more for a catered wedding. And, this way, you folks know the food is made right, is safe and healthy to boot. ... Deviled eggs are always a hit. Celery with cream cheese or peanut butter too.
A cheese and cracker tray always works well. On the cheese tray you can also include deli meats or roast your own turkey or beef and slice that on there. You can get the little rye breads, assorted rolls or just different crackers for them too. Brown mustard and mayo can be put in plain squeeze bottles that have been painted or decorated with stickers. Hope that's some help.

Penny So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Sorry for your kids too. Your dil sounds just horrid! She hasn't a clue what it means to be a wife and support your man. My dh is like yours too. We're always there for each other.

Julee At least the road to peace has been started down regarding your mil. I know I'm very lucky in the mil department. Mine lives on the east coast and she's absolutely one of the dearest people I know.

Annie What a horrid person that said that about you pc skills. I would have wanted to walk out right then. Can you imagine how disrespectful that person must treat others on a regular basis?

Bernice Your recipe looks and sounds wonderful We'll try it probably over the weekend.

Walrus Big hugs to you!

Well, today is good food day except that we're eating dinner now and it's so late.
Things were going great at work and then the hospital called me at work. My oldest son was having a cat scan as they're concerned about cancer in his pelvis region. He had an allergic reaction the the dye, and the meds they gave him for that gave him a heart attack. They finally got him stable enough to move him to the er and from there he went to ccu. When I left the hospital his vitals were finally stable and near normal. They ran an heart echo, chest xray and lots of blood work. They do know for a fact it was a heart attack cuz of the ekg. Don't know if there is permanent damage yet. And they did get some pics with the cat scan. It was all very scary and everyone is upset. Did I mention he's only 31. Both is father and paternal grandfather each had heart attacks in their 30's. His dad at 34 and his grandpa at 35. Lots of bad genetics there. Hopefully we'll know more soon.
I am not feeling real well today so I'm going to be early, I hope. I have more laundry to fold and put away and a kitchen to clean up.
Hugs to all and I'll catch ya later. My brain feels full.

heather_dw 03-24-2008 08:07 PM

Oh wow sandy, that is scary. I'm glad to hear that his vitals are near normal. I'll be praying that there is no permanent damage.

sandybar 03-24-2008 08:23 PM

thanks heather dw
Sorry to any one that I missed. I'm just gonna pick up the kitchen and go to bed. I'm really really tired.

gggirls 03-24-2008 08:40 PM

Sandy - please keep us posted. My prayers are with you all as you go through this with your son. Big hugs hun.

Annie - OMG horrible would it be to work there. So which is the job you really want? Glad you enjoyed your day.

Bernice - your picture is absolutely awesome. What a big difference. Keep up the great work.

Debimitch - how was your first day back at work? I bet you will rest well tonight.

Debbie - how are you feeling? Glad to hear DS wants to talk and move past this.

Catherine - how were the tofu dogs?

Battle - awesome NSV with the little plastic chairs. First an airplane seat and now those little chairs.

Heather - welcome to the new term. Nice to see you.

Heatherdw - there are times I am right with you about family. My sister never understood either. It wasn't that I wasn't happy for her, because I certainly was but also disappointed for myself. Even yesterday no one noticed my weight loss and it is very close to 50 lbs. I have to keep telling myself - this is for me, no one else. Big hugs.

Feels good being completely OP today. Even with the whole bag of steamfresh broccoli. Hugs to everyone.

Carol

dgramie 03-24-2008 08:59 PM

have a good night everyone

CatherineM 03-24-2008 11:46 PM

The last guests just left. It only lasted 9 hours. 4 kilos of hot dogs later, and I'm pooped. They ate all the cake, so that is a blessing because it was a really big cake. These folks acted like they had never had a decent chili dog before.

rosebud76 03-25-2008 12:44 AM

Hi Ya'll

Glad to hear everyone had a wonderful Easter, I spent mine with my DH and in-laws. Got to talking about when my little niece comes into the world all the things we all want to do with her and how we want to play a part of her life. It's so sweet. I've never been closely involved with a baby before so this is all very new and exciting.

Sandy - yeah that would be cool if we could all get together someday. :D

Debi - The services are as follows... Sunday School is at 10 with Morning service at 11, then evening at 6. Wednesday night supper begins at 6 with service at 7. Let me know what she says. also, do you run a daycare or babysit?
Also, I was going to suggest pinwheels b/c EVERYONE loves them! the ones i make consist of cream cheese and about 4-8 ounces of salsa. whip that up in your kitchen aid mixer or whatever (i think whipping it will make it go farther too) and then spread it on tortillas and top with turkey and roll and put in the fridge. i made a HUGE plate for a small gathering of about 12 ppl and it was GONE in no time! LOL ooooo another GREAT and quick treat is buy a Hawaiian roll, ya know the large single roll... then a tub of pre-made spiniach dip and tear/cut out the middle and spoon the dip into it and tear up the part you cut out and lay around the roll and the guests tear off their bread and spoon some dip out for it. it's yummy.... probably not so healthy but yummy... ok enough about food. LOL

HEather - i know what you mean about the family... i've felt like the black sheep of the family before and have even called my brother "The Golden Child" before. it's like he can't do anything wrong and is perfect, he went straight through 7 years of college and obtained his MS and has gone on to be a sucessful teacher/band director. and is married to like the most perfect woman who has no enemies b/c she is just that sweet. while i've dropped out of college, married a man who was abusive, then went through a divorce and gave my mom headaches after i moved back in with them b/c i was staying out late a lot. but now i've gotten my life on track and am married to a wonderful man and things are looking up. My dad on their last visit (he is so sweet and i'm SUCH a Daddy's Girl...) gave me a hug and whispered in my ear that he is so proud of me. that meant a lot to hear that. I know that your day will come. I will pray for your family and for you.

Update on me...

So DH and I have decided that we will begin attending TOPS this week. I'm so excited! However, as our last few days we are not dieting, although we are now eating a diet of low sodium and fat b/c Uncle Bill is now living with us for awhile. His triple by-pass surgery went well on Friday and he was discharged today. He has to have someone stay with him for 24 hrs a day, DH suggested that he come and stay with us, our house is a much better environment for healing than his house plus it would be more comfortable for everyone. Aunt Bonnie and Jim (his sister and brother/my FIL) will be taking turns to come and sit with him while we are at work and at church. It will be nice to have the family around. Well DH is hollering for me, guess i ought to go to bed now.

Love you all!

DMPLS: For 37 years, the senior Rabbi at my synagogue (now the Rabbi Emeritus) has directed a full-scale musical. I am the "executive producer" which means I handle publicity, tickets, graphics, seating, general admision, personnel and the nonsense the kids dole out. I love working on it and at the same time I hate it. 2 years ago I cut wayyyy back on the amount of work I actually do. I used to go to all of the rehearsals but now with the other parts of my job I can't. This year we are doing "Bye Bye Birdie".

DH stayed home and might have done some work...he did run a few errands for me but that is the consequence for staying home sick..and not being sick.

I am so tired.

Debbie54 03-25-2008 02:58 AM

Hi Ladies,
Went to the hospital today and found out I have.....drum roll please....pnuemonia!! TA DA!! I was totally shocked when the doc told me. He said I looked pretty good for having it too, which I thought was sorta weird, but ok. So he put me on some meds and said that I will probably have this lovely cough for another 4 weeks or so but I should be able to breath better soon. They gave me a breathing treatment so I feel somewhat better, but I'm afraid it's still sitting up trying to sleep. This will be 3 days of trying to get comfy among the furbabies.

Debi, you better go back to the doc and see if your's hasn't turned into something else. Dont let it get too bad.

Penny, sorry about your Grandma. Take care. Awesome that your son gets to come home under the circumstances, but enjoy your time with him.
YAY on the 3.8 lbs gone forever!!

Annie, ew...how could people interview people and be so rude? They need some management skills, I think. Anyhow, hopefully the one you want will hire you and start right away. Good luck to you!

Sandy, hugs and you and your son are in my prayers.

Carol, good luck on the WI tomorrow and I hope you get passed that number...you know the one.

Lauren, so glad the surgery went well. And he's doing so well he even gets to go home this soon. That's wonderful news. And so sweet of you to take him in while he heals.

Well, I took my meds so I'm going to go try and catch a few zzzzzzz's.
niters
Debbie

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Sandy}}}}}}}}}}} sorry to hear about your son! So young poor guy! I will keep him in my prayers! Please do keep us updated on his condition.

Carol thanks for the sweet comment on the picture....I wasn’t feeling any change in my weight...even though the scale said so. So I dug out a photo from my sister’s trip to KY summer before last......and then took one yesterday in my outfit I wore to work. Put them side by side and said WOW I guess there is a change even if my pant size hasn’t moved down......but I think that’s more just the way my body is.....26’s fit better than 24’s right now......because of my abdomin(sugeries ruined my abs and they kinda protrude abnormally) But the waistband of all my 26’s fit looser then before as well as the thigh area so it wont be long till I can get into a 24 comfortably

Debi- I know weddings are always fun when family helps in preparing things! In my mexican family that’s the only way things get done! I remember when cousins got married one of our uncles would always do deep pit BBQ meat in his backyard.....the Parents of the Bride would just pay for the meat and he would cook it all for the meal......then the Tias would all make Rice & Beans to feed an army!!! LOL One of our Tios worked for a bakery so he would get the rolls for next to nothing.........and we would have a catered meal LOL mexican style!

Catherine-glad you had a great time at your party! 4 kilos is exactly how much in pounds? Never did learn the metric system when they tried to teach it to us in elementary school!

Lauren-Glad Uncle Bill is home with family! I know that recooperation is much easier with someone there for the sick person! I was on bed rest for almost a year while healing a surgery wound......and the kids & Dh had to leave me for work and school so I was left alone (a nurse came once a day) and it was hard on me .....depression set in real quick!
I’m glad you can be there for your Uncle!

Julee-Wow sounds like it is SOME production!!! Wish I was back in Cali I would come out and watch it!

Debbie sorry to hear your still not feeling better! At least now you have meds and know what is wrong.........take it easy and drink plenty of liquids! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Well I really gotta run and get ready for work! I really need to get ready first LOL but I always end up checking in online first then I rush to get ready!!!! Grrrr gotta work on that!

Take care everyone

gggirls 03-25-2008 07:16 AM

Morning Peeps - not much to say here except the scale was up 3/4 of a pound.

Have a great day. Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

Sandy - your son is in our prayers. I pray today will be a better day.

DMPLS - Yes talked to Army son and he said to call red cross. All they do is verify information and pass it on to sargeant. Then he had to go to ARF and they helped make arrangements to come home. He said that he has to pay for it. I will find out for sure when he gets home. He lands at 6:00 tonight so my daughter and a friend of hers want to go and pick him up. I said that would be fine. I will be at visitation. So thanks for the info.

Thanks all for thinking of me and my family during this tough time.

On a good note. . . We picked up the truck last night! YEAH, transmissions is fixed. We of course had to take it for a drive. It was wonderful. Now to take it to the body shop for them to fix the bumper, hood, grill, headlight that the snow plow hit. But it is running!!!!!

I did get my water all in last week if someone want to add it to the pool for me. This week not so good so far. I got test results back from the dr. office and everything is where it needs to be, NORMAL!!!

Everyone have a great day! ! !

heather_dw 03-25-2008 10:26 AM

that +2 that I got on the scale yesterday is now gone! :carrot:
I'm really starting to learn how my body works. I just knew that was water. On easter when I drank only 60z really made a difference. You don't realize how important water drinking is until you start really scrutinizing.

Battle: I hope today is a better eating day for all of us. I caved and ate a Reases peanut butter egg. It made me soooo sick. Served me right I say. So, onward back on track for us!

Bernice: I hope you get the position that you want at work. One of my sister in laws is a teacher for special needs kids. These kids are emotional special needs. She had/ has to take them down on occasion too. She used to weigh 350 and she did some real damage to her knees. She now weighs like 180 or so. I hope you are able to get something that will allow you to not have to "tackle" kids. lol. Hugs to you and yes, you will be getting into the 24's before you know it. I can't wait just getting her myself it is such an amazing feeling. I was in a 5X + last year before April 16th and now I can actually zip up a 22 pants. So, it will happen for you my friend.

Debimitch: Glad you are feeling better. Don't do too much before you are all the way better cause you could have a relapse. I think doing the food for the wedding sounds like so much fun!

Sandy: I emailed you prior to reading on 3fc. So sorry about your son. I will be praying that he gets better very soon. Hugs sweetie.

Carol: Hi girl. I'm sure you are up a tiny bit from water fluxuations or something like that. I am so lost about what job I want. I though I really wanted to work at the Work First place and look how that turned out. lol. I just want to have a position where I can grow, not literally, lol and where I can earn enough money to really make a difference in my household. I would love a position that I could work M-F early too. Like getting off work at 3 or 3:30 would be a dream come true. I am such an early bird I'd love that. I talked to the lady that is hiring me and she said I for sure have a position there it will just be 2 to 4 weeks. I am so paranoid about not having an income that I will continue to look for something to hold me over. There are a couple of places that are hiring part time and I may check into them.

Catherine: so glad that your birthday was great. I think you guys are just so loved by the locals where you live. What a wonderful feeling it must be. I am so very proud of you for coming out of your "shell". I still need to do that when it comes to making friends. I had to come out of my shell at work but in my home life I am still very much the "nothing" I have created myself to be.

Lauren: AWww, when I read what you wrote about your dad it just made me tear up. I am such a daddy's girl myself and my dad is my hero. I am home sick for my daddy now. lol. Hugs to you.

Debbie: Yikes! Please be careful. Pnuemonia is nothing to mess with. Please do all that the Dr. wants you to do. I mean it missy. No outside in the yard stuff until you are told it is okay! Hugs and stay warm and still. Drink, Drink, Drink.

Penny: Glad that you got your truck back. Finally huh!

Heatherdw: Great job on knowing that your weight gain was water. Have a great day.

WEll, I'm off for the 2nd interview at the theme park. Then I need to go to Sandpoint to see my previous supervisor. She ordered a ton of Avon and has not paid for it yet. I am hoping to go see my dad this week too. I moved my living room furniture around yesterday. It looks pretty good. I get bored with my furniture. lol. Now, if I had a smaller bed or a bigger bedroom I could move things around in there too. lol. I also jumped on the scale and have lost a bit more since my weigh in last Friday. I am so close to my next goal of 270 that I can taste it! I have a charm picked out that I have had for almost a year now waiting to put on my charm bracelet. It is the monkey with a banana symbolizing I am off the potassium meds. It is probably the biggest deal to me as I have struggled with it so much. My potassium was so low once that I had to go into the hospital for an IV. So, I am thrilled to put the monkey on my braclet. Hopefuly soon.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, drink your water, move your bodies and eat smart.

Blessings,
Annie

Dmpls: 1 kilo = 2.2 lbs.

Catherine...a 9 hour birthday party?? You are the party girl!!!

It's too early for me to function. This week always leaves me feeling like I was run over by a bulldozer.

babybear101 03-25-2008 02:56 PM

Hello everyone, sorry I have been MIA.. We have been moving and moving and moving. This week I had to clean the house from top to bottom. Maybe it was not a good idea taking the house "as is" lol too late now. IT is clean btw. And DH and DD focused on moving all the small boxes and books shelves and things they could grab. It is now up to me and the kids to clear out their rooms over the next 2 days. Our big move will be Sat 3/29. Uhaul truck is rented and my back is already aching. I think we moved just in time. We just got new neighbors in the condo beside us. They are so respectful (Cough Cough) the moved in during the middle of the night last night. We did not get one ounce of sleep. They started at 11:30pm and continued till DH had to get up at 4:30am. It was horrble. What type of people move in during the middle of the night???????

Food has not been great. I will weigh in the morning. We had Easter dinner with family at apple bees. My sister-in-law is a one up one person. She holds a doctor in some chemical science and 2 other degrees and now she is actually thinking about becoming a family physician. Needless to say I was glad to get out of there. I am after just a lowely mom who has only a BS degree in teaching, which I am not doing, and working from home at a crappy job. LOL... I love it.

Well will catch up when I can .

Tina

DMPLS 03-25-2008 06:34 PM

Penny yeah forgot that part.....but its interest free loan....I just knew they paid it up front in an ER. When my mom was dieing they paid for me and the 4 kids to fly out the next morning and paid for hotel stays as well as food....and transportation.....we paid back a very small amount each month.

Heatherdw good job in knowing your body and losing that 2lbs!

Annie the classroom I work in is the same.....however we have been lucky last year and this year we have only 1 or 2 students we have to use SCM(the actual movements) on...and one of them is so small that I can lift him on my own if I have to....and the other one we can tell him to go to the floor and he lays down for us LOL none of ours are usually due to a threat of bodily harm to us....its more for safety of the other students in the classroom (ie: the out of control student wants/attempts to throw stuff) or for their own safety (hitting themselves or banging head etc)
I just know that I don't want to be taking students down when I turn 50 LOL ......I would love an office position and I have the experience, however it is in volunteer hours and not paid time....so I will just wait on God.....that's how I stumbled upon this position anyhow.....I love the kids and enjoy the work as well as the girls I work with......but I know it is not feasable to work this job through to retirement....who knows maybe I get to my goal and decide I can do it.....God will show me....

Thanks Julee for the metric lesson LOL I prefer pounds they are bigger! hehehhe well for weight lost that is....Maybe I will start weighing in using metric and just go by pounds when we speak of lost weight LOL

Tina- Not from experience of my own.....but people that move in the middle of the night are people that HAVE to move out during the middle of the night! LOL I use to manage a victorian home that was divided into several apts.....LOL people that move out in the middle of the night and on the 24th of the month havent paid rent and wont be allowed to stay past the 1st! Usually that is....LOL good thing you are getting out of there!

Well had a good day at work but not so great on eating....Ive been taking less snacktype food because I need to go to the store.......anyhow I was not able to resist the fresh baked homemade bread that a teacher's wife made for our classroom......nor a reese's PB cup ......but I will plug them into TDP and just live with my decsion to eat whatever LOL

Stopped at the base Library and got 2 audiobooks, 6 new CDs and a few DVDs the audiobooks & CDs are to listen to for my IPOD.....one of the DVDs is WATP I have it till Apr 1st so Im sure I will get some major use out of it.....

Well better get off here.....hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Bernice

I woke up in the middle of the night with a high fever. I'm ready for someone to just shoot me. I was not allowed to be sick growing up (long story), so now when I do get sick, I get very agitated. I'm not a good patient. I finally felt good enough to sit up for awhile. I guess I've got a good excuse to not clean up after the party.

rosebud76 03-25-2008 07:33 PM

Hi everyone, I hope ya'll had a great day!

Sandy - i am praying for your son, please keep us updated.

DMPLS - tonight i made turkey chili for Uncle Bill, DH, and I. UB doesn't like spicy food and well i really do and DH kinda does and I was craving some pico sooooo.... i made my first batch ever of pico de gallo! it was WONDERFUL and i'm so proud of myself. i was going to take a pic of it but that didn't happen.

well i'm pooped, sorry not to many personals, it's been a hard day. i'm off to veg on the couch and to watch BL

:cb: Lauren :cb:

gggirls 03-25-2008 09:42 PM

Hiya Peeps - well I wasn't sure how I would feel today after the weigh in this morning but I sucked it up and today was good. I worked my tail off at the gym tonight and am just accepting the scale as a number (at least today that's my story). I have an abcessed tooth that's not making me care about much of anything and the end of the quarter is extremely stressful for me at work - fortunately I have planned food - so now I just need to relax a little bit and look forward to the endodontist next Wednesday - one of my vacation days next week - boy do I know how to have a good time or what.

DH and I have been discussing behavior changes - it seems unfathomable to me that I have not had fast food in almost 7 months - I can't believe the golden arches hasn't had to close without my business. the other huge change is exercise for me - that has just been 3 months but it is feeling very natural and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I'm feeling like I can do this - now i need a big helping of patience. I owe so much of this success to all of you here for your support and continued understanding.

Better get some things done around here.

Hugs to all,
Carol

BattleAx 03-26-2008 12:09 AM

Hi Chickies,

I'm looking at the circular for my local supermarket and am feeling happy. There are some great fruits and veggies on sale starting Weds. Winter fruits aren't that exciting to me, although this year I enjoyed some above average grapefruits. I look forward to seeing more variety in the stores and nicer quality.

Carol: You hang in there, and you will see the result you are waiting for. The changes you made are amazing.

Catherine: I hope you feel better. This virus is making the rounds. I'm finally back to normal, although still am coughing a little.

Bernice: Enjoy the selection from the library. I think I will go and check out some new exercise DVDs myself. it's a great way to try them out and get variety.

Tina: Ugh, I hate moving. I have moved way more than my share in life. Each time I swear never again, I'm going to hire people to take care of everything. Maybe some day.

Rosebud: Hi there!

Debbie: My goodness, you don't just get sick, you go all the way, don't you! I hope you are back to peak health asap.

Hi and hugs to everyone else.

DMPLS 03-26-2008 06:51 AM

Good MoOOOOOOORNING 3FCerssssssssssssssssss! (in my best Robin Williams from Good morning Vietnam, sounding text) LOL

Lauren Congrats on the Pico! I love the stuff & could eat it on everything! LOL that recipe I made with the shrimp & crab meat is the same thing but you add those two things and Lemon juice......hmmmmm I need to go to the store!!! LOL Now you got me craving some!!!

Carol I know what you mean about fast food! I have maybe had 2 french fries since changing my eating habits....and when I say 2 I mean 2 single fries not 2 orders LOL unheard of!!! Also the exercise is another thing.....two months ago if someone told me I would be walking close to 5 miles a week I would of said yeah right! LOL

Battle- yes I cant wait till this evening to try out the DVD.....I used the treadmill last night because I wanted to start on the audiobook right away! But, unfortunately my leg kinda acted up....it didn't hurt but felt funny....so I stopped after 15mins cuz I didn't want it to be hurt....feels fine this morning. Don't know what that was last night, except I was wearing a different pair of shoes than I have been and maybe that was it....not sure.

Well hope everyone has a wonderful day! I actually got up had coffee, took shower and stayed away from the computer till I was completely dressed this morning! (I still have to get my lunch together) MUCH better morning so far! LOL

toodles poodles!
