Talking I've reached a milestone! (mile pebble maybe)

I'm a grad student and my classes are almost always held in conference rooms, so fitting in desks isn't an issue. But this semester I have a class that takes place in an actual classroom with honest to goodness desks. All semester I have hated that class and got nothing out of it because I was so uncomfortable. Well, I have lost 20 pounds so far and in class tonight I was comfortable (I was still bored though)!!!! I was able to turn in the seat (not all the way, but enough), I could lean back, lean forward... the whole nine yards! I was so exicted I wanted to get up and dance. If I didn't embarrass so easily I would have probably made an announcement during class. Now my only problem in that class will be fighting the temptation to lay my head down two hours in.

That's great! Who needs to be uncomfortable AND bored? Every mile pebble and non-Scale Victory (NSV) counts.

That is awesome!!! I work in a middle school class, and I can't wait till I can sit/fit into one of the desks.....I opt for a regular chair because of that very same reason. I hate when we have a meeting in another classroom & I have to sit in a desk.....I can get into it without any commotion but getting out of it is another story....I practically lift the desk when I stand.....grrrr hate that! I am excited for you to feel comfortable in your classroom!!!!

Woohoo! for you. :-) You are putting effort into losing weight, and you deserve to celebrate 'small' victories such as this. After all, for the most part, life is a series of 'small' events. The good ones are worth mentioning.

That's fantastic! I know those horrible little desks and dreaded them when I was going to school. Congrats!

I teach at a college and had occasion to sit in those seats from time to time. It's great to fit in them easily now!!!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the enthusiasm guys! I have great friends and family who are supportive, but things like that are kinda awkard to share with people who have never had that problem.

I hear you on that - it is very hard to feel comfortable talking to non-weight-challenged people about these things! That's awesome for you, and it is no small victory. I can't wait for the day when I can go into a restaurant and not have to remember to request a table because the booths are too tight.

Just an update. This class met again earlier this week and I was even more comfortable than I was last week. Loosing weight rocks!
