Cyn,
I'm sorry you've been upset lately. Please know I'm thinking about you.
Sandy

Wyoming,
It's such a great idea to walk right after work. My job is more stressful at certain times of the month than others. (customer service for a window treatment fabricator) I like to walk with my i pod and lose my self in the music. It's been too cold to walk outside, but our garage is finally on it's way to getting cleaned out and we should be able to get to the gazelle soon.
Great jog on your kitchen too. Do you have pics?

sandybar1 03-08-2008 11:25 PM

Cyn,
One of my favorite treats for myself is to go to Barnes & Nobles, pick out a home decorating book, buy a plain coffee, (add a smidgen of cream & sweetener) and read and drink my coffee. Or, just buy a magazine and read it in bed or at lunch at work. They're great rewards, treats, low calorie and keep me going. Granted I'm not losing real fast, but I've been really sick for a while and depressed. But it has to be spring soon.
After all, the NBL is playing expedition games. Spring has to be here soon!!
Just remember you're loved and appreciated here.

Good Morning Peeps - what a beautiful sunrise this morning. I'm off to swim - see you all later. Enjoy everything today brings you.

Good morning all!
weigh in this morning. I lost 1 lb. YEAH, it is one pound less to carry around. Hubby weigh in yesterday he lost 3 1/2 lbs. The girls are just waking up so haven't weighed yet! I am glad snow is melting for some of you! Ours is almost gone!!!!! It is supposed to be 40's today. Well, off to church soon and then the rest of the day begins. I'll check in later. Everyone have a great day.

babybear101 03-09-2008 01:24 PM

Hello everyone, we are digging out from the snow here in Ohio!! We have 15 inches in our front yard. The complex finally came around yesterday with a snow blower when the snow stopped and did the circle but no path upto our door. This morning (lol) the guy came around with the snow blower and I was at the window with the dog. So, I kinda ermm smiled at him and waved, and GUESS what he took that snow blower right up my side walk to my door. I just kinda grinned and waved again as he kept going down the side walk. I have never ever seen this much snow and I dont like it :(

I baked all day yesterday, which is not a good thing, I get nervous I bake. I made mini cupcakes. Some with icing and some with out. I have tried to limit myself to 3 mini cupcakes a day without icing. The rest DH is taking to work.

Well, I will weigh tomorrow and my doctors appt is this Thursday. I know I have not made the 16 pounds. But we will see.

Everyone have fun. I am stuck and not going anywhere lol

Hello everyone,
I am in a cleaning mood today. I have been scrubbin the house . I think I have spring fever!! Still have to do our bedroom and kitchen.
Hubby is so aggitated today, not sure why but he seems to have days like this. I am just going on with my own thing and leave him alone. He got mad because I had mopped the bathroom floor and he got his socks wet.
Well daughter is back at college from NYC. She is exhausted but had an awesome 10 days. Youngest is back at work today and still tired from her trip.
The snow is melting fast!! yah!! I want spring...sounds like we might actually get it later in the week.
HOpe everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

wennygrrl 03-09-2008 01:58 PM

Hi everybody!

I haven't checked in in awhile. I have had a very "crazy" week and my regular routine has just fallen by the wayside. It makes me laugh to figure out how set in my ways I've become. When I wasn't on this "healthy" kick I was much more spontaneous, but now I still feel as if I need to "plan" for stuff. I really want to change that. I don't have a problem with having a plan, but I don't like feeling nailed down to it.

I have also been struggling with the fact that my entire life seems to be about my weight loss. Part of me really enjoys the attention I am getting, but part of me would like attention based on other things. I am not my weight or weight loss. I really can't blame it on others though as I am soooo focused on working out and eating right. When does it just become a part of your life and not the whole thing? I mean I go out, and friends ask me how I am and what I have been up to, and all I have to say is that I am doing good and my life really consists of work and working out. I don't have much time for anything else. I am not married and I don't have children, and if I did, I don't know how I would find the time for them. I leave the house before 7:30 most mornings and don't get home until 9 pm. That doesn't leave a lot of time for a social life. I am getting out most weekends at least one day/evening and I guess that will have to do for now.

I really want to begin to put some focus on the other areas of my life I am just afraid if I take my full attention off of losing weight that I will stop. I think I just need to have more faith in myself and the great habits that I have developed. I don't think dating and trying to have a social life should derail me from something I really want and have worked very hard at for the last year or so. I know that many of you ladies are married and have children, but do you still feel consumed by the weight loss thing? (i.e.-planning meals, counting calories, fats, carbs, planning exercise etc.) For me it is the time it takes in planning things not the execution that seems to take up most of my time and energy.

Well, thanks for letting me rant on. I know that some of you are also having a difficult time right now. I am sending you positive thoughts and a big !

For those of you on a good track right now...GREAT JOB! You deserve it!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. The sun is shining today and it is just slightly above freezing so I think I am going to try and get a run in. Take care.

DMPLS 03-09-2008 02:18 PM

Wyoming- that’s great you pushed yourself!!! Great victory! I think most of us under estimate how many calories we burn when we clean! Good Job on your treadmill time and getting the house in order!

Carol I wish I could go swim! :swim:I guess if I wanted to I could find the time....we have an indoor pool on base! Hmmm you’ve inspired me to find out if they have some sort of classes at the pool!

Worthapenny!!! :bravo:YIPPEE!!!! Even a 1lb WL is awesome shows you that you are doing things right! Good Job for your DH too! My DH is down by 20lbs now over this past month! They loose so much quicker than us! Hope the girls do well too!

Babybear we got hit by that same storm! Although I did not have to plow the sidewalks either! LOL my dh & dd did it for me! I have had to blow dry my poodle each and everytime he goes outside!!! He comes in looking like a snowball!:shocksn:

Well Dh’s WI was yesterday and he lost 3lbs now he is down to 245! My WI is tomorrow so we will see how I did then! I did jump on the scale one time this week but I was fully clothed and ummm did NOT like what I saw! So we will see!

Snow is melting around us! But possibility of more for tonight which would mean no school tomorrow! I’m hoping it just skips us!

:wl:I did my weights on my arms and my leg exercises as well as a band exercise for my legs. I also viewed a few of the workouts I DVRd but, deleted a few of them TOOOOO much! I did do a “Shimmy” :belly:routine LOL that was kinda fun. I tried a yoga :yoga:but the moves where you go from all fours to standing are too much on me right now....maybe later on once I’ve lost some from my waist. I think though I will stick to the couple of exercises for my arms and the 4 or 5 leg exercises for now. I can feel it in my glutes!!! Lol :workout:

I haven’t walked all week and I need to.........keep saying I will but never get around to it....so after I post this I will go do it!:woops:

Toodles peeps!
Bernice:carrot:

Debbie54 03-09-2008 03:45 PM

Anne, good for you not even thinking about those ice creams. I'm afraid it would constantly be on my mine. I'm still addicted to food, but I'm trying to convert my thinking to other things like exercise, puzzles, etc. It's hard, but it is getting a bit easier.

Bernice, wow! You did get alot of snow!

Carol, I'm the same way. I tend to only get in around 900 after dinner. It leaves me alot for the evening snacks but I still don't eat up to what I'm suppose too. It's hard to get in that many calories in a healthy food, but not so hard when I eat junk. I don't lose when I eat 2000 and some calories either. I don't know if it has to do with the thyroid or diabetes.
I've been keeping them between 1200 - 1400 and I lost 3 this week. So I think since this is working for me, I'll keep at it. I don't know what I'll do when I have to go down in calories as I lose weight.

Debi, YAY! on the 1 lb loss! Woohoo for your daughter winning!!

Cyn, life just sucks sometimes. It will improve. Treat yourself. I know it always makes me feel so much better.

worthapenny, YAY on the 1lb gone forever!

Wenny, I know exactly how you feel about the weight issue affecting your whole life. I'm the same way. And it seems if I don't concentrate on it almost all the time, I might slip. I hate it because this is something we have to do for the rest of our lifes and it seems so overwhelming sometimes. I would love to have a bag of chips, because I'm craving salt right now, but then I think of the calories and fat it would put back on. I have to weigh which is more important to me. Just hang in there.

I havent' been exercising and so I need to get going again. It's so hard when hubby is home. I want to spend the time with him, but then my exercising suffers for it. I just have to commit to doing it everyday or the scale just doesn't budge.
Food-wise is going fine. We don't have any junk in the house so I can't really cheat...
We've been putting baseboards down in the living room and it looks so much nicer. We want to get a rope type design for the wall/ceiling edging. Since we can't be outside, we decided to work on the inside. At least something is getting accomplished. I've been wanting to do this for the last year but never got around to it.
Well, gotta go do some more painting.
Have a great Sunday!
Debbie

Hi All,

Emily: Hey you. How is nursing going? I hope you are still enjoying it.

Carol: Hi girl.

Debimitch: Congrats on -1 pound. I'm with you, one pound less that you have to carry around on your body. Yipee for you!

Catherine: I am soooo struggling to get over to the pool. You inspire me so much. I exercise every day at home but going to the pool is the oposite direction from my work and I have to get up at 3 a.m. to get there. Maybe I shold try to go just once a week and work my way up until my membership is expired. Congrats to you though.

Cyn: Did you get everything all cleaned? I went through all of my drawers in my dresser and got a ton of clothes that are way to big for me out. I'm going to have a yard sale soon. DH is doing the same in the garage, going through things and gathering. It's starting to be such nice weather here and there. Almost time.

Wyoming: Congrats on your work out! Great job.

Sandy: Hi there. I will try to email you this week. I am so darn warn out emotionally by the end of the day. I will do my best though sweetie. Glad to see you post again.

Worthapenny: Woo hoo to you on the -1 more! way to go.

Tina: Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow.

Dmpls: Wow, you are really rockin the workouts.

Sharon: Hi there.

Debbie: I think working inside is a great idea. Hope you are enjoying the results.

Well, I am okay. Pretty stressed at work. I have been having it out with one of my supervisors. Same one as before. Nothing new. The difference is now that I'm not taking her crap anymore. Our company is folding but they refuse to believe it. I have been searching for a job and just trying to do my very best while I wait for someone to call me. I went to Kmart today to put a Wii on layaway. They seem to be very hard to come across them so I saw that Kmart had some and decided to put it on layawy now. I am not supposed to get it until I reach 250 pounds so I am going to try my hardest to not play with it even if I pay it off If I haven't reached my 250 goal yet. I have 34 more pounds to loose for that goal but 12 more for my next goal. On Thursday night after my horrible day at work, my Dr. called to tell me that I don't have to take potassium anymore! I cried I was so happy to hear that. I have been having issues with it being low enough to put me in the hospital for about 8 years now. It signifies so much. It is the last of the perscription meds I was on from obesity things. As a matter of fact, I don't have to take anymore prescriptions at all. Now just vitamins every day. I have had a charm picked out for over a year for this occasion. It is a cute monkey holding a banana. Now when I reach my next goal to get another charm in 12 pounds I will put my monkey on the bracelet. Another thing, when I was at Kmart I decide to look at thier jeans knowing they are pretty inexpensive. The 26's I have I am absolutely swimming in them. The 24's I have are for petite, given to me, I am almost 5'10 so not petite. lol. Any way, I decided to try on a pair of 24's fully expecting them to be too tight and they fit perfectly. I bought them and 2 sweaters for work in a size 2X. The sweaters were only 5.40 each on sale. I felt so happy for the size 24 jeans. I don't remember when I was last in a size 24! It inspired me to go through all my clothes in my drawers and all of the size 24 shorts that have been given to me. I took all of my 3X and size 30/32 shorts out and I had about 20 pairs at least and put them in my yard sale pile along with some pants that are too large.

It is amazing to me that I can fit into size 24 because I honestly still see myself as 30/32. Oh well, I will have to have a chat with my brain. Maybe I can talk my brain into getting my body to a size 22 really soon. lol.

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe with all the snow. Hugs, exercises and water to you all.

Blessings,
Annie

sandybar1 03-09-2008 06:20 PM

Annie, Honey, you had sweet day today and yesterday. Getting off all your meds is an amazing accomplishment. And them getting into the smaller jeans!!! How cool is that! And, you already have a bunch of new clothes for the spring and summer. When you have your yard sale you'll even have extra cash!
I'm not being bossy, but as soon as your yard sale is over, you should make a trip straight away, the same day, to good will to donate what's left.
I'm so proud of you.
And, I look forward to your email this week.
Hug, hug hugs to you.

DMPLS I saw your recipe for chicken using the marmalade. I plan on using it this week. Thanks! And I love reading your posts too. You're so encouraging!
Gotta go for now. Tomorrow's goal. Drinking all my water.
San

DMPLS 03-09-2008 07:34 PM

Wennygrrl- Glad to see you! I love that little icon you use! She looks like me when I walk LOL! I have always been a rather spontaneous person. Even when I cook I usually have a general idea of what I am making when I buy groceries, but usually wing it when dinner time comes! I need to plan more for my exercise schedule & our meals but, as long as I keep healthy choices in the house then any combination of them will be good Calories is what my brain thinks. LOL I guess I prioritize things as such, my family’s needs & mine, work, cleaning house (hate that job), then my exercise/eating healthy.
Hope you get to where everything runs smoothly in your life. I am sure if you start to venture into a more social life you will be able to adapt your new lifestyle into it smoothly!

Debbie-
Great job on the 3lbs!!!! Ok so I’m gonna crack the whip for you!! Hehee get back on track with the exercise chickie!! Have DH watch LOL ya never know!!!??? Hehehe At least you are working physically on the baseboards that has to count for extra activity. You are one of my inspirations!!!! So no slacking!!! Hehehe

Anne- AWESOME on the new pant size & no meds!!!! Hey could you send the 26’s my way LOL nope never mind I am planning to be out of them soon! Hey that wouldn’t be a bad idea!!! Has anyone ever thought of having a yard sale forum on here or even a freecycle type forum for everyone to pass on/down their too big clothing? I love your idea of the charms!!!! Hmmmm gonna have to think of goals for mine, I have an Italian charm bracelet my sister got me but I really haven’t added anything to it! Thanks for the idea!!!

San-Glad you liked that recipe! I just was throwing stuff together Low cal & Sugar free but with flavor LOL but, I found a winner. I even tried it with Whiting fillets and DH said that was the best that fish tasted! Thanks for the compliments I just know that everyone here is such a help to me and encouragement to me that I try to return the favor!

Dh is putting is changing the Den into a “Man cave” He got a plasma TV and has spent the better part of the day mounting it to the brick above the fireplace. Poor guy now that he finally got it up the color is all messed up on it so now he is fighting the color settings. We got him a bar and some stools. For now the only thing else in here is the desk with the computer. He has picked up some cool Sports memorabilia on E-bay, he loves the Yankees and got a couple of jerseys. We priced getting them professionally matted and framed LOL $350 each!!! So needless to say that will be a project I will be doing for less than ½ that price!!! At least the guy at Michaels had one and showed me how to do it!!

Ok so I did my walk on the treadmill and incorporated several jog sessions! I did 3 30 sec jogs and 2 1min jogs getting my heart rate up into a good burn level. I walked 1 mile and was at 24mins when my music ended, so I turned on a 6min podcast and walked a 6 min cool down for a complete 30mins!!!! I ended up with 1.5 miles!

Worked on and finished the rest of the tasks on our school’s yearbook today! I am going to post what I worked on just for the heck of it. I had a lot of graphic changes and creation to do.

There were several students & staff that didn’t have a picture and to keep the yearbook uniformed I copied a background from another picture in the yearbook and added the staff or student to it!

I know this was a long post lol sorry about that!
Have a great nite!
Bernice

Debbie54 03-09-2008 08:24 PM

Annie, I knew you could get into size 24s!!! If I can, I knew you could. Congrats to ya!!! I have a size 22 that I bought just so I always have the incentive to get down to the next size. I tried them on, I've got a ways to go. LIke you, I don't remember the last time I could get into 24s though. It's a great feeling. I did save one pair of my 32s though. Just to have something to look back at and look how far I've come.
Sorry the job front still stinks. Is that supervisor insecure so she thinks she's got to pick on people? Tell her to get a life!!
Yay on putting a Wii on layaway. In May or June, they have a new game called Wii Fit coming out. It does all kinds of things to help you exercise from what I hear. I can't wait for it to come out.

Bernice, thanks! That's so sweet of you to say I'm an inspiration to you. I'll definitely get back to exercising just so I can remain that way. I have to tell you though, you are the same for me. You always seem so up even with all that is going on around you. You just have to remember to put yourself further up in the pecking order
I'm so glad to hear that you incorporated some jogging into your workout. Didn't it feel awesome? Did you think that you would ever get to that point? I know I sure didn't when I started. I'm amazed at myself sometimes to see what I was doing this time last year....which was not much. We've come a long way baby!!
The yearbook pics turned out really nice. You did a brilliant job!!

We got all the baseboards up that we had. We still need to go out and buy some more to finish up, but boy, does it look nice. I love working around the house and Jim likes to go out and do things so I think we are going to have to compromise and do one thing one weekend and another the next weekend or something like that.
Ok, I'm going to get my shoes on and do some walking on the treadmill.
Have a great evening!
Debbie

gggirls 03-09-2008 08:53 PM

Hi Peeps - everyone adjusting to the time change? This is an easier one for me than the one in the fall.

It was an awesome water workout this morning - although I forgot to take underclothes to wear to do the land workout. Good thing I worked hard in the water. I was going to come home and use my treadmill at home - yeah right. I told myself I would let my knee rest until Tuesday.

Annie - that was some great bargain shopping you did. Have you always wore jeans? I know that is a new thing to me. The Wii sounds like fun - especially with the game Debbie was talking about that is coming out soon. You continue to be such an inspiration to me on a daily basis - thank you.

Sandy - HIYA - yesterday I was thinking about you - and your delicious soups and then you showed up - should have thought "Sandy Soup" sooner. I ended up making a taco soup. I saw you WI posted on the other thread - look at you go girl.

Bernice - look at you go! Are you enjoying the exercise you've added recently?

Tina - hugs to you my friend - the snow missed us for the most part. Are you dug out yet?

Debi - can you share a little of that cleaning motivation? I did start cleaning winter out of the gardens today - that's part of my problem - I'd much rather work outside than in. The dirt was cold in my hands but it did feel so good.

Sharon - hugs hun - did you get to the doc? Hey - by the way did you ever submit your story for publication? I read it again the other day - you really should.

Wendy - seems a lot of us are on the same page lately - becoming the weight loss. When you find a balance would you share please. Did you see some sun and a little warmth today? It was nice to be out today although I will be happy when its a bit warmer - like maybe 90. One of my pups decided to lay on the pool cover today - she is heavy enough to cover herself in water with the springs down - I stuck a thermometer in - 40 degrees - not enough for me.

I'm not sure this old body is wanting to give up weight this week. I'm not typically a fast loser and have lost 11 lbs in the last 3 weeks - have been very deligient this week - hope for good news on Tuesday.

Hugs to everyone lurking - post and let us know how you are.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

dgramie 03-09-2008 10:17 PM

carol- could you tell me how to make taco soup. I love it and so does hubby. I need a few new recipes. Im jealous that you have gotten to play in the dirt already. I can hardly wait!! I love being outside and working in my flowerbeds and garden. I feel so alive when i have been in my yard alot!

debbie - I bet the baseboards look great. I think its is such a good feeling to do things in the house. I love even rearranging to make things look fresh.

san - sorry things are not good for you at work, I love the idea of a little reward when you get to a mini goal. I havent really thought about that. Guess I will plan my first reward for 25lbs. I seem to be having a slow time jsut getting to 20lbs.

dmpls- looks like we have some nice weather headed our way finally. Hubby and I are going to try and walk tommorow evening if its warm and not raining. Its also a weight lifting day.

I am throwing a shower next sunday for my soon to be sisterinlaw.
We are having a pampered chef shower for her. I am making sandwiches and a relish tray. I am determined to stay away from the cake. I am going to start trying to brainwash myself into thinking how sicky I will feel from eating all that sugar in just one peice of cake.
My house is clean and it feels so good, I started a pile in the bedroom of clothes that dont fit right now. I have really noticed that sleeves are longer on me now.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week of healthy eating and drinking water!!
:)

CatherineM 03-09-2008 10:28 PM

Annie-that's my goal to get off all my meds. I'm down to two HBP meds now. I guess I'll never get off the thyroid though.

wyoming 03-10-2008 02:35 AM

Sandy - Thanks! I will dig my camera out at some point and point and click - my kitchen is closet-sized, but hey, it's bigger than most kitchens in NYC!

Worthapenny - congrats!

Wenny - I totally feel where you're coming from. I'm single too and am not seeing too many of my friends during the week right now. Right now I'm living and breathing lifestyle change. I work really long hours and now I'm including exercise time in too - doesn't leave too much time for socialization during the week right now. I just keep telling myself that this is a lifestyle change and it may take some time to integrate these new changes into what I'm used to doing. If you're schedule is bumming you out - look at ways to change it around....this may sound totally aweful to be up that early, but maybe you workout before you go to work, to leave more evening time?? Or work out at lunch? Just a few ideas...

Bernice - great work with the graphics! Really smooth transition with that background! On Yoga - there's some Yoga tape out there that is designed for those of us in the plus category - they show you how to alter the moves to work with our bodies...I think it's called Just My Size Yoga (yeah like the pantyhose, bad name I know...)

I used to do plus size clothing swap when I lived in SF - it's great! Not sure how it would work virtually, but it's worth thinking about. I think about all the nice clothes that I have and when I get to the point that they are too big, they should really be passed on to someone...

Annie - wow you are my hero - what amazing progress! Truly an inspiration. I like the idea of rewarding yourself with each goal...I've been making a wish list of really expensive makeup that I like. I can't really afford it, but maybe if it's between 20 or 30lbs of weight loss I can!

And for all of you in the snow, I AM JEALOUS! NYC is so great when it just dumps snow and we've not really had that this year.....

The time change is really screwing me up. I couldn't stay awake on Sunday, so I took a huge nap and now I'm up at 2AM and my body is ready for Monday. EEEk. I haven't exercised as much as I wanted too last week, so I'm going to try really hard to step it up this week. I've got the gym membership now, so it's just a matter of establishing a new routine. Eating well is actually a lot easier than I thought. I'm finding that when I crave things, it usually has nothing to do with hunger, so that's good that I'm not giving in!

It may be early, but Happy Monday everyone!
