300+ Weekly Thread #1128
:welcome: We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs. We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't. We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time. Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out. We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!! |
Hi girls
Had an interesting weekend. After having a super awful week last week and just about gaining 10lbs I am happy to report that I am officially back OP.I went Saturday morning and joined WW. I am on Day 3 and down almost 7lbs of the crap that I collected last week. I refuse to change my ticker cause I fully plan on being down the full 10 this week. I really think I am going to like it. It gives me the freedom to eat what I want and maybe I can get rid of the mentallity of "cheating" Anyhow, I just popped in for a min and dont have time for personals but want to say thanks to Catherine, Angie and Ammi! I'll be back online later to chat it up some more :) |
Good morning!:coffee:
Boy, oh, boy...I miss a week (or was it 2:dizzy:??) and you guys have left me in the dust!! :p I am done with OT now and I don't have to be in to work until 11, so after I am done posting I am going to try banging up "Slammy" a bit. For those who don't know who he is..."he" is an electronic torso in a lovely shade of green that lights up in various places and you try to keep up by punching the lighted areas :boxing:. (it's really called a Slamman) I figure it is time to take the birthday(from Sammi's party) and Mets(losers!) hats off him and get to it. I still have a problem with my heel, but I need to get off my hiney and do some type of exercise. Even 5 minutes will get me 300 punches :yikes:. I am starting small and will add another minute each week. It's all I can do right now. My other news is...drumroll please...Miss Samantha got voted Treasurer of the school!!! I am so proud of her!! She ran for Secretary last year and didn't make it. Actually, she tried out for so many things last year...only made the Basketball team...I give her so much credit for trying again. She had to give her speech 3 times...I would have croaked :faint:!!! I can act and sing in any play, but public speaking makes me pee my pants!!! :fr: So as it is Monday...I am starting fresh...and will start personals again tomorrow. (Sorry, but how can I catch up with all the 18 or so pages I have missed??!!) Big :grouphug: to everyone!!! Have a Great Day!!:cheer2: |
Good Day!
Hello Everyone!!!!
First of all, Hugs and Kisses to everyone on this site. I luv you guys!!!! Thanks for your support and encouragement. Don't have much time this morning, I feel a bit overwhelmed...Homework, work-work, kids, household..you know the drill. |
Intresting little bit of information. In the November issue of Prevention there is an article called The fastest way to sculpt. It shows you a bunch of exercises with the resistance bands. It starts on page 164. Some of them look a little difficult and a little too hard for me yet. But there are others that i think i am going to try. Just thought i would tell everybody in case they were intrested.
Mama- congrats to your daughter. I hope she does well. going to loose - good luck with that 10lbs. |
Brenda - I'm so happy you're feeling back OP. Sometimes a new plan/approach can be just the shake up you need to make solid progress again. Great news about the 7 pounds!
As for me, I'm up .1 pounds this week for no particular reason that I can see. Blah. Public skating at an arena close to my work starts today from noon to 2, so effective today I'm going to be spending two lunchtimes a week skating. My boss has been great in allowing me some flex time at lunch so I can make it a good exercise session. I'll make up the time at the end of the day. Hope to have a better week this week, though I don't know what I can do differently. I can't take my calories much lower with still over a hundred to lose or I'll have nowhere to go when I'm much closer to goal. My lifestyle is very active now and there not much more I can do with exercise. I've been feeling discouraged, but it's also really been good practice for sticking to healthy and controlled eating for it's own sake rather than the pay off at the scale. Everybody have a great day! |
Hi All,
I’m not amused  I rang the hospital this morning to get an idea of when my URGENT appt would be and was told that the earliest I will be seen is in 3 MONTHS time!!!!! I hate to run down the NHS because let’s face it, it brings health care to everybody no matter their finances BUT the waiting lists DO suck! Thankfully I’ve got two weeks of antibiotics from the doctor which I hope will clear up the infection, and will give her time to ring the hospital and start nagging them to see me more quickly. There you go, moan over  The good news is that I made it easily through week two of being back OP and here I am starting week 3. I feel a bit under the weather today, I’m coming down with a cold I think, but I still managed to do an hour of exercise today. I thought I better get it done in case I’m too unwell tomorrow :D Brenda - welcome to WW  If you are anything like me you will love learning that nothing is a ‘sin’ on the diet. It does make losing weight so much easier. I am sure you will do well and what a great start already losing most of that 10 lbs you had gained. It feels good to be back in control doesn’t it :cp: Donna - nice to see you posting again. Now you can take a deep breath and relax after all that OT  I love the sound of that Slamman, it not only sounds like great exercise, but what a great way to relieve stress. I could do with one of those!!! :congrat: to Samantha on being elected school treasurer. You sound so proud of her and rightfully so. I’m the same as you when it comes to public speaking NO THANK YOU  Ulovlee - Hope you are managing to keep up OK with the homework, kids, house, and work etc. Midnight - that’s great that you got some stretchy bands and that you’ll soon be getting some more exercise things. If you haven’t got any already I really would recommend the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs by Leslie Sansone. There’s something for everyone no matter what your level of fitness. I wouldn’t be without mine. GGGirls - as I’ve never done it, why is it bad to go on a treadmill bare foot? Does it make your calf muscles really hurt afterwards? Good for you for not having any of the treats, not even a taste at the birthday party. Did you wake up and proudly say to yourself that you are happy, healthy and in control?? Annie - Every time I see you in your avatar photo I can’t believe how much slimmer you look. You are looking amazing my friend :cp: Vicki - I’ve done that, I’ve extended my time working out purely so I can finish up listening to a song that I love. How are you going with that drain, any signs of it slowing down so that you can finally get it removed? Debbie - the stew as always was delicious. I am so glad I made it because there was enough left over for tonight’s meal. Nothing like a nice bowl of hot stew when you’ve got a cold, or one on the way lol. Good for you for only having one slice of that peach pie. I bet it was delicious and I hope hubby has finished it all off or hidden it now so you won’t be tempted to eat any more :D Xena - oh boy, your boot camp is going to be even harder seeing as you got hardly any sleep. I hope it didn’t take too much out of you  LOL I love you calling Carrie, Carrie Underwhelming  I didn’t want her to win either, and I’d turn the radio off if they ever played her music too. Thankfully they don’t though! Good luck with your test on Tuesday :crossed: you’ll get great results. Metachick - sorry you had that small gain, no matter the size it’s rotten especially when it’s not warranted  I don’t know what to suggest to you with regards to carrying on your weight loss when you can’t really drop your cals much or do much different with your exercise. Maybe the skating will be the kick your body needs to start shedding those pounds again. They say changing how you exercise and not necessarily the amount you do is a good way to break plateaus  It’s great that your boss allows you a longer lunch break so you can get a good work out done :cp: OK I better go before the kids get home, I’ll try to post again later, Hugs, Ammi :chicken: |
Okay. I said I would try to be better this week so here goes my attempt to stay up on the thread.
Brenda: Good for you joining ww and getting back op. Also congrats on loosing 7 of that 10 you gained. I am so happy for you. I loved WW and I hope it is a wonderful program for you sweetie. Donna: Have fun with Slamman! I would love something like that. I adore boxing to the point that the thought of doing it as a sport excites me. lol. Of coarse I'd have to really get into much better shape before I could do anything like that but hey, a gal can dream right? Congrats to Samantha too. Woo hoo for her courange and stick to itness! Ulovlee: Hi and hugs. Midnight: I don't think I have welcomed you yet. I had such a busy week last week. So, sorry it is late but.... Welcome. I adore these people and I am looking forward to getting to know you as well. Metta: Don't you fret about that .1 gain. Focus hun on the 152 LOST! You are doing soooo amazingly well. Hugs. Maybe it is just some muscle or water weight. Have a great time skating. I used to do that for my lunch hour every day when I was ... um... younger and thinner. lol. I used to go for my lunch hour and skate for 40 minutes of it then drive back up the street to my work. It relaxed me and made my day so much more enjoyable. Have fun. Ammi: GRRRRR! I'm so sorry that they are giving you the run around with the Dr. office. I hope that they get you into the hospital soon. Maybe if you go to Emergency and tell them it is making you itch like crazy and you are going bonkers they will see you? Congrats on being op for 3 weeks in a row. You are doing so well. No sweat at Alton Towers for you. Hugs. Well, I have so many things I want to get done today. I am going to go drink a protein shake and take my potassium filled Crystal Lite. lol. I added potassium powder by the way. I have some job interviews and testing this week plus a mound of applications to mail out. I want to go exercise this morning at the gym too. I have been so slacking with my exercise ever since I had my surgery. I have just been soooo drained. I think it is because my calories are so dogone low. I am really going to try to get my protein and calories up a bit this week along with my exercise. I will try to check in later this evening. Blessings all, Annie |
I'm starting to feel better, but am still so weak. I'm going to try to do a little housework today, and a little school work. At least I feel like I can breath better, and actually got a full night's sleep without the coughing waking me up. Dieting goes out the window when I don't feel well, but I'm back OP today, so that means I must be feeling better.
|
So I had a sad event today.
I came across a desk that i didn't fit in to at school today. It was also the only one left so i had to sit half in and half out so it hurt me too. So that was a lovely hour and 20 minutes. O well i guess that is more motivation to loose weight. Hippievanlady- i'm glad that you are feeling better. Ammi- good luck with the doctor i hope they get you an appointment quickly. dogpal- thanks for the welcome. Everybody here is so nice and helpful. I like it here. |
Hi everyone,
Saturday was a really bad eating day. I overate at the Raclette, but could have brought the day in on plan anyway and didn't. I continued to eat like there would be no food left on Earth in the morning. I"m up four lbs today and am hoping that most of it is water weight from all the salt. Yesterday wasn't too bad, so I don't know--will just stay on plan and wait it out. I have a feeling I'm in one of the several week periods where my weight is going to bounce around without a loss for a while. It used to make me freak, but I'm getting used to my body's rhythms and now know to be patient. I'm also ok with overeating one day a week, as has been my pattern, as overall I am losing weight. I want to gain a little more control on the days I've decided to indulge a little more than usual, though. Ammi: There is nothing like a warm plate of stew in the cooler weather. It's especially wonderful to eat the next day. Yum! Glad you're doing well OP. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can get an appointment sooner than 3 months from now. Argh! Vicki: You're doing great. Keep it up. Nancy: Congrats on the weight loss. You are so close to 100 lbs lost you can almost touch it. GTL200: Good luck on your new plan. You've come so far already--I know you can continue. Donna: congrats to Sammy! Enjoy knocking some sense into Slammy! It sounds like fun exercise. Ulovlee: have a good OP day! Midnight: let us know how the sculpting exercises go. I am thinking of doing more strength training. Meta: hang in there. I don't know what your long term pattern for weight loss has been, but my body regularly stalls for a bit. Doesn't mean a serious plateau is on you. Wait and see what happens. Congrats on finding some nice coats to wear. I have a ski jacket in a 2x that I bought 4 or 5 years ago. I rarely need that warm a jacket here, but do when I visit my family. The last few visits the jacket didn't fit and I went around freezing. It really brought me down about myself. I tried on the jacket yesterday, and it zips. I'm happy that you now have winter coats that fit, when you have suffered for too long without this basic article of clothing. Gggirls: good for you, resisting the treats. I'm also curious about what happens after going barefoot on the treadmill. Xena: oh my gosh, I don't know how you're going to boot camp after hardly sleeping. I hope you managed ok, and will be able to accomplish all you need to in the next few days. I'm thinking about you. Debbie: There's nothing like being surrounded by nature's beauty. I love to go out into the areas around here and drink in the beautiful sights. Annie: good luck on the job interviews. I hope you feel more energetic soon. Probably a little more nutrition will help. Catherine: Aww, I hope you are back to your old self in no time. Hi to everyone else. It's hard to keep up, but I'm thinking about all of you. |
I'll tell ya what happens when you walk fast on a treadmill barefooted! You take all the skin off the bottoms of your feets! Like carpet burns on your feet bottoms. hehe.. OW! The tread of the thing is rough (so you don't slip when "normal" people wear sneaks on it and you propel yourself forward for the next step). It might be a way to toughen up da feet for summer.. NOT.
Hugs and Luv, Rat |
I wanted to share this article which I came across on Scott Adams' blog (Dilbert cartoonist) this morning. He uses it comically to talk about how to break down a woman’s resistance to get her into bed. I thought it was really worth sharing on the dieting aspect due to why it is that once we have resisted for so long we find it hard to stop once we have given in.
http://www.world-science.net/otherne...lf-control.htm It makes me wonder if we can build this up over time or are we doomed to have a certain resistance quotient. It also makes sense why the only way to effectively lose weight long term is to figure out what you enjoy and do that. If you are constantly trying to resist everything, then you might as well be talking to a Borg (do I really need to say the line? OK :) – "resistance is futile"). |
intresting article. I never knew that lol maybe that i why i've been so lax on the homework lately. Just kidding
|
Hey Nancy...neat article. I remember reading some time ago about studies suggesting that willpower was like a muscle that could be strengthened through repeated use. There seems to be a lot of resources if you google "willpower" and "muscle". One quick article near the top of the results seems to draw on both concepts:

Alas my peeps! I just saw a picture of me at our dept picnic (it was a behind shot of me decapitating a pinata.. lots of fun). I almost cried seeing that rear end pict. I feel I've worked so hard over the past 3 years just to see a picture of me looking as bottom-heavy as I ever have. I know that people who lose large amounts of weight have more on their hips and tailend than a normal person. My "apron" doesn't help the illusion. I've considered myself lucky that my thighs aren't holding a lot of that skin. *sigh* I was wearing a way too big shirt at the time as well because I have such huge hips. It falls off at the shoulders, but has just enough width to go around my hips. BLEH! I'm not sure whether to be depressed or motivated. All I can think of is "if that's what I look like at 234 lbs, what in hades did I look like at 350?!". Of course, there are no pictures of me at that angle from that time period. Good thing too cuz I'm not sure my heart could take it. I'll post the shot when I get home.
Hugs and Luv, Rat |
Hey everyone!
I haven't had any spare time to post here, and I still really don't (big paper due tomorrow that I need desperately to work on) but I just wanted to pop in and say hi and let you know I haven't fallen off of the face of the earth, although my eating sure has. The previously mentioned boyfriend and I are doing well and have been "going steady" (how cheesy... :P) for a couple of weeks now. He takes me to nice restaurant after nice restaurant and it seems like it's an endless blur of creme brulee and pasta with rich cream sauces... haha. I did a lot better this weekend though and luckily I haven't gained anything! Now for me to actually LOSE something... haha. Hope everyone here is doing well! Keep on moving and losing, ladies! |
I tried that sculpting thing. It was a little more rough than i thought it would be.(i'm just starting out though) i could do a few of them but i couldn't do others. I bought the wrong type of band. At any rate i looked online for exercises to do with the bands that i have and i found a neat site that had exercises that i could do (most of them at any rate) so i did them. yay! i exercised.
Here is the site...http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/ah_personal...973127,00.html ammi- i checked out those dvds at walmart. They have a three pack with some weights. Looks interesting my mom said she would do them with me if i got them so they are on the list of things to buy. lol the list keeps growing. Rat- sorry you saw that picture but i am sure you don't look like that anymore so don't feel too bad. The past is in the past. Lindsey- congrats on not gaining any and good luck on loosing some. |
Catherine: I hope you feel much better very soon. Hugs.
Midnight: So sorry about the desk incident. Hopefully tomorrow you will get there earlier and be able to get another desk. Hugs. Battleax: I bet a lot of the 4 pound gain is water from the salt. No worries. Nancy: Interesting read. How are you? Lindsey: Glad to see you post again. Glad for you about the "boy" too. Well, I managed to go take care of some applications for jobs, mow the front and back yard that haven't been mowed since before my surgery!!!! I mowed and mowed and still the back didn't get finished because I ran out of gas both in the mower and in my body. I worked for 2 hours out there mowing, picking up dog poo, raking etc. I am going to just take it easy the rest of the evening with the exception of going to my bunko thing at 6 p.m., walking my dogs, and then taking some tests for a job online called "prove it". The tests are for Microsoft word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, outlook and Quickbooks. Whew. I may be busy for a bit tonight after all. lol. Tomorrow is my workout session lifting weights. I am hoping to go do cardio first though. I hope you are all doing well and hanging in there. Hugs if you need them. Blessings, Annie |
Hi everyone~~
I'm doing really good with my eating today--I had 20 grams of carbs which is good when you first start Atkins--so I'm really happy. After yesterday's pizza I really needed to do good today. :) And the best part is that I tried Boston Market's Rotisserie Chicken and it was AWESOME! I will definitely be buying that again. I forgot to weigh myself this morning--the second day in a row :p--so I still haven't changed my ticker. Hopefully I'll remember tomorrow before I eat. I'm also thinking of walking to Mexico...:carrot:I just need to know what we're doing. Meaning how are we logging it in? And when are we trying to "meet up" there? ;) So far, I've walked 2 days. 5.4 laps 6.0 laps Each lap is 1/4 mile so the best I can figure is that I've walked 2 miles + 1/2 mile + 1/4 mile (approximately) which equals=approximately 2 & 3/4 miles. Can one of you math wizzes help me out and tell me if that's right? :dizzy: I'm getting a headache trying to figure it out for sure. The BF is calling me so I have to go. Keep the faith Chickies. :grouphug:  Vicki |
Hello Ladies!
Just popping in to say hello. :) I'm a few days behind in posts, but in lieu of attempting to catch up on personals, just wanted to say that I did read everyone's posts, and I'm glad to see that for the most part, everyone has been doing good these past few days. :cp: Big hugs to those of you (like me) having a bummer day or getting back on the wagon (Brenda, Rat, Midnight, Battle, Ammi, Meta  ) Nothing interesting going on with me. Still trying to get back seriously OP. I'm getting too easily sidetracked from daily exercise. I think I'm going to have to start getting up early and getting it in then, as there are too many excuses not to do it in the evenings. |
LitChick: I find that exercising in the morning is great. If you would have told me years ago that I'd be a morning exerciser, I would laugh in your face! But, here I am, and it is wondrous. Most days I leap from bed buzzing to exercise. My body is used to it and expects it. I have a medical condition that makes morning exercise the safest option, but besides that, it is great to have exercise checked off the list right away instead of finding a million excuses over the course of a day. You can do it!
Vicki: I will save the math for someone else, but you are doing great even without doing the numbers! Good job. Annie: You have been busy! All that yardwork is great exercise. Midnight: the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs are great. I have the 2 mile one and it's perfect for me. 30 minutes is about all I can stand doing the same type of exercise. I love the WATP workout because even a clumsy person like me can follow the moves. I also want to mention that the Pilates exercise is great. I do about 15-20 minutes of Pilates DVDs 2x a week. It is amazing how much better I can carry myself when working out to Pilates. The exercises to strengthen your core help your posture. Lindsey: Nice to see you. I have been wondering how you're doing. Good job on not gaining weight. Ratkitty: Aww, now...let's have a look at that pic. |
Just a qucik hello. We met my step daughter at the hospital Sunday at 2pm as she was in labor. She needed me to stay all night with her, yes her boyfriend was there, but, he didn't get it she needed help breathing.
So, beautiful little Alexis Renee was born this afternoon at 1:41 pm. Obvioulsly I didn't sleep hardly at all. About 3 hours maybe. My eating was totally off whack but I'll be right back on tomorrw. Hugs to all. Sorry no time for personals, but I don't even have the energy to read them. TTFN |
Hi All - I can't wait to wake up tomorrow - weigh in day - I've had a good week and hoping for the iron monster to show it. Funny - I used to look forward to the weekend and now I look forward to Tuesday.
Brenda - good for you about joining WW - sounds like it was a great move for you! Donna - I don't think we've met but I'm glad you're back - I really want to hear more about Slamman. What a proud mom you must be! Ulovlee - I've thought about you all week and how it must feel to be you right now! I can't wait to leave these 300's behind - and maybe lose some of mine too. Midnight - thanks for the info - will try to read it soon. So what kind of bands should a person buy? So sorry to hear about the desk today. We have chairs in one of our conference rooms that I can't fit in - I am always like ten minutes early to any meeting so I can get a chair I can fit in. I can't wait for the day it doesn't matter. Brenda - wow - public skating - how impressed I am - maybe because I can't even stand up on skates - let alone in public. Stay the course - don't let the .1 get you - I'm sure next week will more than make up for it. Ammi - hope you are feeling better. Treadmill barefoot - UGHHHHHH - first it wore the skin off my feet - then majorly blistered my calluses. Please don't learn from my mistake. And yes, absolutely I woke up saying I am happy, I am healthy and I am in control (at least of what I do). And I will wake up tomorrow saying the same thing. Annie - hope you feel stronger each day. Good luck on the interviews and testing. Catherine - take care of yourself - glad you are able to breathe better. Sending well wishes to you. Battle - you are so strong - you can have a bad day - just one and climb right back on. Great job! How did you start the morning exercise routine - was there something special that got you up and going - I think that I would love it knowing it was out of the way - or that maybe I would want to do it morning and evening. Nancy - thanks for the article! Hope you had a great day! Rat - I'm so sorry about the pic. We are so hard on ourselves. Imagine what it would have been "before" Lindsey - good luck on the paper - love eating out but my hips like it more. Vicki - great job on the exercise - I did 12 1/2 minutes today and was bored to death on the treadmill (with shoes). Not sure how I'm going to handle this one - suggestions? LitChick - when you figure out the exercise thing - help me - I'm struggling - maybe if I got up a bit earlier that would work for me too. Sandy - CONGRATS - I bet she is beautiful! Another bundle of joy. It's amazing to me to see a new baby - say 8 lbs - and wonder where that weight came off of me. OK - need to sleep so it will be Tuesday - I'm overly anxious about the scale this week. Nite all |
Hi All~
I am doing a bit better. I managed to go and sit through getting my nails done and I sat through my therapy appointment on Saturday, so that is a plus. On the minus side, I am still having pain and a lot of stiffness during the day. Not really sure how to begin to try to combat that, but I am still moving through the pain (not out walking just yet, but moving around my house nonetheless). Something tells me that it could also be a bit of my arthritis acting up because it has been a bit chilly here. If that is the case, man, the winter is going to be bad. I have not had arthritis pain since before I had surgery and I am not looking forward to having it again. :( In good news, I have lost yet another pound. :carrot: :D :carrot: So I am now officially (according to my scale) the lightest that I have been since I was a teenager and I am not really sure how I feel about that to be completely honest. I am happy, but there are some other feelings that are mixed in there as well. Just haven't figured them out just yet. :) I hope everyone is doing well and if not, as always, you are in my prayers. ~Story |
Sandy -- Congrats on the birth!!!
|
Donna, YAY!! on Samantha becoming the treasurer...what an honor for her to be voted in!!!
Glad to see you back too!! Midnight, I'm gonna have to go buy that mag and check out the band exercises..thanks! Sorry about the desk, but you gotta admit, it's a great motivater. Meta, have fun skating!!! Catherine, that's great that you are feeling a bit better each day to where you can move around some. Just keep taking care of yourself. Battleax, I'm sure you'll have that weight off in no time. Ratkity, always wondered what would happen if I didn't wear shoes on the treadmill...ow!! Don't sweat the pic of the hiney, kiddo, just realize how far you've come and your lookin' better every day. Hey Lindsay, YAY!!! on coming back to see us. Wow! you guys have been together for a few weeks now...glad to see it's all working out so well. Annie, what kind of jobs are you trying to get? Sounds like you are just doing exercise like crazy again. O, I know how you feel about those never ending yards and yards of mowing. We were hoping to get ours done again before the rain, but we didn't make it. Vicki, On the walk to Mexico, I think we are just logging the hours that we exercise, and then listing them on the exercise thread. I only got in 15 minutes today....hearts just not in it today...sorta blah...but that's better than nothing. Lesley, I know if I don't get the exercise in the morning, it's sorta NOT going to get done either. So I totally know what you mean. Sandy, :congrat: on the new grand baby!! gggirls, good luck on your weigh in!! Story, wonderful news that you are down another pound...and to boot, since you were a teenager!!! I hope you figure out your feelings over it. I just did some painting today on the banks. We are waiting for some more patterns and parts so we can finish them. I think tomorrow we are going to go pick out a new color to paint the bathroom. I think I want a lavender color. Other than that, just staying OP and trying to get some sort of gumption to get some exercise going. Only did 15 minutes and that was a chore. Maybe I'll get up early tomorrow and see if I feel up to it. It's going to be a loooooooooooong trip to Mexico I'm afraid. Debbie |
Hi ladies and John. Just wanted to check in quickly to let you know that I am doing okay. I'm on day 5 of my increased dosage of synthroid and I've noticed that I'm at least not as fatigued as I have been. I am still tired most of the time, but it's not that "need to sleep NOW" fatigue I've been feeling. That's about the only improvement, but I didn't really expect anything at this point.
I absolutely love my new doc. She's awesome. I went in, she looked at my leg to see how the swelling was (which, by the way, has been mostly gone for the last several days), and told me she was going to cut down my lasix & potassium and try to get me off of it in 3-6 months, depending on how my thyroid behaves. If the swelling stays gone, she said she'll be fairly confident that it's not my heart and was the thyroid all along. She also *asked* me if I minded weighing on her scale, just to see where I was at. I didn't mind - I've been honest with her from the start. She's going to start keeping a weight chart at the office to see how I do. She also asked me what calorie range I was in, and actually told me I probably need to UP my calories to an average of about 2200/day. DH was laid off a couple weeks ago due to winter hours at the guards camp, and has only been able to find a job working fast food here. I applied for 2 jobs and had my first interview last week. I am hoping I find something soon. Take care everyone.. I will be back in the next couple days to work on personals! |
hi everyone! ive been lurking :)
I went for my weigh in today at the study and i am down 5 lbs this month. so thats good. they took 2 blood samples again today. i hate having bloodwork done. but they have to see how quickly the drug leaves the system. and at least i get paid for it. i didnt go weigh in at WW today, i was too hungry after having my blood drawn, and i dont like to weigh in if ive eaten. its a crazy psychological thing. :) |
Just a flyby to let everyone know I put the piñata picts up!
Will come back later and post more :) I'm late for work. Luv and Hugs, Rat |

Ratkitty, well those trousers you had on AND the top didn't do much for you being so baggy but I didn't think they were THAT bad!!;)lol I'm sure we all have pictures like that, at best put it on the fridge to keep you away from fatty stuff, at worst put it in a box away from sight!lolxxxxxx Brandnew, glad your new Dr is nice & things are looking up medically/healthwise.xxxxxx Story sorry about the aches, it must be the time of year, I was in a lot of pain around my hips (hormonal stuff) and back & I don't have a history of joint problems! WTG on the loss, anything DOWN is GOOD!!xxxxxx Lindsey, great on the relationship, you will have to start going for romantic Autumn walks instead of meals, lol! xxxxxxxx Midnight I have a band too, I looked at your link & I'll try some of them. I have a dvd Ammi sent me which includes some bandwork & I love it the way you can make it harder or easier without having to mess around the way you do with weights. It gets easier & if you can find some good dvd/videos it's actually FUN!!!xxxxxx Annie you go steady with that mower!!! it's so easy to get carried away in the garden & wake up the next day hardly able to move!! How long are you on protein shakes & do you have much 'solid' food yet? Looks like I'll either have to tape my mouth shut or go to bed at the same time as them -7.30pm, lol! xxxxxxxsharon ps Ammi, I'll look for you on MSN tonightxxxxx |
Good Morning!:coffee:
Well I didn't get to smack Slammy around yesterday because first Doug woke up and wouldn't get out of the way, and then when he went upstairs I was getting the gloves out and the Prince came down to get in the way. So that went by the wayside yesterday. But the good news is that I decided to do it before I jumped on the computer today. I got the 5 minutes done, which was 313 punches. Yay me.:yay: I know it's lame, but baby steps, right? Ammi: I hope your skin infection is getting better. There was a show on TV about that "downside" of NHC, but it's really important to have healthcare no matter what, and sheesh, it's hard enough to get an appointment here anyway-even with insurance! I wish the good ol' USA would take pointers from the other countries that have it and maybe try something like it. At least for the children and elderly if not for everyone. Annie: With all the exercise you do, I doubt that it would take long for you to be a boxer! It's your good heart that I could see getting in your way. But then again, I "pity the fool" that would mess with you!! What type of job are you looking for? I think anyone that met you and your sweet personality would be falling over themselves to give you a job! :goodluck: Catherine: I hope you are feeling better today. Maybe you need a little "Jewish penicillin"!! What is your avatar pic of? You didn't bury "himself" in the ground, did you?? I would love to see a picture of your dress. Midnight: Sorry about the desk. I work in the Middle School, and before I was the Greeter(really is a fancy name for the front desk receptionist), I was a Hall/Bathroom monitor(which, in my opinion, was 2 years of total ****!!!) and we had to sit in the same type of desk as the students. I can't tell you how many pairs of jeans I ripped trying to fit my butt in one of those chairs. :yikes: Battle: There is something called the "Wendie Plan" for WW that has you eating different pts (or calories) for each day. This is supposed to trick your metabolism and is good for plateaus. It sounds like you have done that a little bit, and I think it works. I found it on the WW thread. I too am looking for a way to find a little more control-especially when I am at home. Nancy: The article made me think that too much multi-tasking can jeopardize even our best efforts! Too bad, because I think that in this day and age, that's all that we do. Maybe that's why I am struggling to stay OP...now that's something I can truly blame on Doug and the kids!!! RK: Come on...look at how droopy your pants are!! Where is that hiney??? I think you look great!! Now if we could just see your face....I like to see what my friends look like!!:D Lindsay: Ah, new love . Everything does go out the window when a new boyfriend is around!! Enjoy it, he sounds great. (Jewish men make great husbands!! ;)) gggirls: :goodluck: on the WI!!:goodscale Story: I am sorry you are still having back issues. At least your nails look pretty! Debbie: Oooooo...I love lavender. That is a pretty color for a bathroom! :) Brandnewme: I am glad you found a Dr. that you like. I think that is the most important thing to keep you comming back. She sounds wonderful. I am so happy your leg is getting better. Luan: I feel exactly the same way...if I forget to WI before I eat (or go to the bathroom!), I wait until the next day. Glad to see I am not the only nutty one!! And most importantly... Sandy: :congrat: and :welcome2: to Baby Alexis:bb: Have a Great Day!!!:cheer2: |
Oh yeah...I almost forgot...
Xena: There is a woman I work with that has won a luncheon in a charity auction, with Constantine!! She goes with 3 of her friends in a Limo on Friday to meet him. I will fill you in next week. |
Hi All,
It’s a wet, grey day in not so sunny Wales, my blotches/infection hurts and that cold is still threatening to strike. BUT other than that I’m great  I’ve done my exercise, and all my chores have been done, so yay :D Annie - Did you make it to the gym? Are you still working out with the trainer? I’m sorry you don’t feel the energy you need to be able to exercise like you used to. That will come in time, after all it’s really not been that long since you had the surgery. Look at you just itching to work out like a mad woman, the Annie of old has well and truly left the building  Catherine - I’m glad you are starting to feel better and got a good night’s sleep. I hope you carry on improving and are back to 100% ASAP  Midnight - couldn’t somebody have swapped seats with you, or didn’t you let on that you were having problems and discomfort with that desk? I’m really sorry that had to happen, but just focus on a few weeks or months down the line when you will go to that same desk and slide on in there with ease. No joy with a quick appt for the dermatologist I’m afraid. 3 months is the earliest they will see me, unless I can get my doctor to do some sweet talking. I am sure she will try, so :crossed: that it gets me a quicker appt. I think your mum and you will enjoy those WATP DVDs and how cool is that that you have seen a box set of 3 with the weights too. I hope you do get to buy them and enjoy them. BattleAx - It’s no surprise you over ate at the Raclette, all that yummy food on offer would have tempted a saint!! You are back OP now, with a small gain, but it won’t be long until that’s gone again, especially if it’s mainly due to the salt in what you ate. RK - ouchies, now I see why it’s a good idea to ALWAYS wear shoes on a treadmill. Thanks for explaining. My daughter is one for trying to exercise without shoes and I know if we had a treadmill she’d try to use it without shoes, so that’s one good thing about not having one, she’s not tempted and won’t end up with poorly feet! As for those photos of you, I think they were more unflattering than they would have been purely because you aren’t in fitting clothes. I know all about having to buy big t-shirts to fit my hips and then have them fall off my shoulders, they are so annoying aren’t they! Baggy top or not, I bet if you had some tight jeans on, or at least better fitting pants you would have looked smaller than that photo makes you look. Don’t be too disheartened. You already know that if you had any pictures from your heaviest weight you’d be even more upset about those, it’s a shame you don’t have any because you could compare and realise your new ones are pretty darn good. Your next ones will be even better, so yep, definitely use those latest photos as motivation to keep on losing  Lindsey - when I first met Daren he used to love to cook and he made me such delicious meals, I am sure I put on 20 lbs in a month!! Love is fabulous for the heart, but not so good on the waist line  Mind you, you’ve not gained weight so you must be doing something right!! Good for you :cp: Good luck with that paper you had to finish. Vicki - you are doing great with your walking now you have been given the go ahead from the doctor. You’ll be in Mexico in no time  Lesley - :goodluck: with getting back OP. We all know how difficult it is, and as you know I’ve only just managed it. You can do it  Somebody told me recently that it’s best to exercise as early in your day as you can because that way you never feel resentful that you still have to do it, that something has to wait while you get it done etc. So if you can do it first thing it’s done, out of the way and the rest of the day is yours to spend how you wish. Sandy - :congrat: on the new baby. I hope you have managed to catch up on your sleep, and I will be looking forward to seeing some photos of little Alexis Renee :D GGGirls - :goodluck: with your WI today, I really hope you see a good result on the scales. How are your feet now? I can’t believe the mess a treadmill can make on them just because you don’t wear shoes, OUCH. I hope you aren’t in too much pain, can you even walk on them?? Story - :cp: well done on being another lb down and being the lightest you have been since you were a teenager. That’s quite an achievement. I’m glad that your overwhelming feeling about it is joy, and I am sure you will work through those other emotions bubbling under the surface  I’m sorry you are still in pain, and it’ll be just awful if a lot of it is to do with arthritis. Have you tried something called Fentynol Patches? A friend of mine’s mother was in terrible pain with arthritis, she was prescribed the patches and she is so much better since. Debbie - maybe you should do your exercise in the morning so that you can enjoy spending the rest of you day working on your banks and the house DIY without having to stop to exercise? I try to do half an hour on the bike or the Gazelle before breakfast, then half an hour after it I do a couple of work out DVDs. I love knowing it’s all done and dusted until tomorrow :D Brandnewme - that’s great news that you are really liking your new doctor, she certainly sounds like she knows what she’s doing and is helping you to feel better already by sorting out your Synthroid medication. I am glad that you aren’t feeling as tired now, and hopefully you will even end up feeling a little energetic soon   Sorry to hear about your DH being laid off, will he get his hours back when the summer months roll around again? Until then I hope you’ll manage financially and that you have some joy with some of those jobs you applied for. Is DH working full time at the fast food places? Luan - great news about being 5 lbs down :cheer: Will you ever find out if you are on the real meds or the placebo?? Sharon - I looked for you on MSN yesterday were you feeling too down to chat? I hope you will be online today? I’m sorry you are struggling with being OP but you haven’t been feeling well have you, and I don’t care what anybody says it’s just too hard sometimes to even think of dieting when you are under the weather  Donna - I hear you on the health care thing. I have friends in the USA who have to wash out DISPOSABLE ostomy bags because they can’t get insurance or their insurance will only cover so many boxes of bags and they have to wash the bags out to make them last. Other friends end up with terrible skin irritation and burning from having to wear the bags for as long as possible only to find that there has been a leak under the base plate that sticks to the body, and I just want to cry for them. So yes, we have long waiting lists, we even have dirty hospitals full of MRSA in some places, but at least we are given the care we need and the supplies we need. I don’t live there but I TOO wish the USA would get some NHC. No change on the skin infection but I’m only on the second day of the meds so hopefully it will kick in soon :crossed: OOOOH I can’t wait til you tell us how your friends lunch date with Constantine goes. I wonder if he’s as nice in person as he is good looking  Okie dokie, got to run now. I’ll try to pop back later. Hugs, Ammi :chicken: |
I only slept 2 hours last night. To say I'm cranky is an understatement. I stayed home all day yesterday to get a delivery from Purolator. I was concerned because we always have a horrific time with them. FedEx and UPS are no problem, but Purolator will not deliver to apartments for some reason. They always want you to drive out to their depot to pick it up. I even put a huge sign on the door hoping the driver would see it as he drove quickly by. We don't have a car, and their depot is way on the west side of town, 3 bus transfers and about an hour 1 way. They are being paid to deliver, so I think they should do the job they are being paid to do. We both talked to the dispatcher, and her supervisor without moving them an inch. This morning, I called Dell. They are the ones paying these idiots. They told Dell that they just needed to double check our address, and of course they will deliver today, no problem. We'll see. I was prepared to spray paint on a king size sheet, "Purolator, Please Deliver My Package" and hang it on the front of the building. That would get a picture in the newspaper at the very least. They just so underestimate me. Here I am, still sick, and with raging PMS, and they are trying my patience. Don't mess with Fat Chicks. We don't fight fair.

Just checking in REALLY fast here. All is well...just BUSY!! I stayed the same this week but with TOM making an appearance it was to be expected. I had a GREAT NSV this week. I had a meeting for the Board I am on for a club I belong to and when I walked in the room 3 people said "Wow! You look great!" :o So even if TOM was making me feel bloated and miserable...I was looking OK! :D:D Thyroid meds continue to be good. I am feeling my old self again...only lighter!! :dizzy: Loving it!
I *had* to make this one personal.... RK - You are looking GREAT! You are wearing clothes in those photos that you should have stopped wearing 20 lbs ago. As my dear hubby says "How can anyone tell you have lost weight when you are wearing clothes that swim on you?!?!" You can see that the pants are all bunched up in your bum area making it look like you are heavier than you are. I know it is hard to spend when you hope to lose more...but c'mon...YOU are soooo worth spending a few $$$ on to make you look and FEEL better about yourself!! I hit ebay and buy nice quality gently used stuff for CHEAP!! I also hit the stores and by stuff here and there. Before you think I am being too hard on ya, I will admit that this weekend while doing chores, I was walking around my house/yard with size 28 sweatpants (so much ROOMIER than they were this time last year LOL!) with a 3X mens tshirt down to my knees with a 3X sweat shirt over it. Hubby commented "Thats quite the look you have going there...is it the latest in baglady chic?" ;):D;) I *know* I should toss this stuff...but shoot...its getting COLD and I can REALLY put layers on now. ;) So, I can relate....but I am trying to replace all of this stuff and not hide behind the big clothes. Hope you know what I am trying to say...:hug: Hi to everyone else...I must dash!!:hug: |
G'morning my Peeps,
w00h00, Lindsey! Good job on not gaining anything. Too cute about you and your new love. Midnight, good job with getting all those exercise bands! Staying in the groove of exercising is hard for me, but these ladies keep me going :) Bah for the desk.. been there, done that, got the scars and ripped britches. It will get better, I promise! Annie, your body is still recovering.. give it a break! With that said, it's wonderful that you are chomping at the bit and ready to move more. Careful about the yardwork.. hehe.. I've done a days worth of work like that and couldn't move the next. Vicki, just total your minutes like you do for the exercise thread. Calculate the time it takes for you to "drive" to Mexico and start subtracting! First one there sets up the Fiesta to encourage the others :) Excellent on your low carbs!! Lit, I understand the excuses not to exercise (too tired, too busy, don't wanna, TOM, etc). Just 10 minutes (baby steps) will help. When I'm off track, I can only add one thing back at a time. My mind gets blown too easily when I try to come to a screeching halt mid-bad habit. Battle, w00h00 an early morning exerciser. I have tried SOOOOO hard to do that, but just don't have the coordination needed in the mornings. I understand the "okayness" of overdoing one day, but I also understand the feelings of guilt and that I did something "wrong" at the same time. Somehow, there has to be a balance, right? Sandy, congrats on little Alexis!!! Hugs and Luv to you and the family. Get some rest. GGG, you are so funny. Can't wait to wake up on WI day! You are doing fabulous!! I know I'm too hard on myself with pictures, but the photograph of myself in my head is soooo different than the one I see.. hehe. I was hoping for a chunky version of Angelina Jo Lee! *sigh* Story, w00h00 on another pound. You are doing so great despite your pain. You continue to lose weight and do what you can. That is inspiration in itself. Keep it up! (the weight loss, not the pain..ack) Deb, yup, tis gonna be a loooooong trip to Mexico. I'm thinking of putting up Antonio Banderas' picture on my frig to inspire me! BrandNew, good deal about your new doc. My fingers are crossed that clearing up your thyroid will get rid of the heart crap. Sorry to hear of DH's winter layoff. Financial stuff is always a stresser. Luan, stop that lurking thing and post more about the cool stuff you are working on! Congoratz for zapping 5 lbs. Oooooo, weighing in after eating is taboo for me too. hehe Sharon, yes, I agree.. carbs are my devil! Specific ones, however. I understand about going to bed early so I don't eat when I'm out of points (WW).. ugh!! Yes, those pants are baggy in my legs and flat butt, however, they fit over my stupid apron/middle and hips. Bleh! hehe. I'm thinking that picture will be an inspiration! If anything, I know I need new clothes. MamaB, I love the idea of Slammyman!! 313 punches isn't a baby step, darling. I know I'd be hurting if I did that many!! Oooo thank you for telling me I looked great in that picture. I really wanted to cry when I saw it. I think there's a face pict in the series. I'll upload that one tonight. Ammi, yay for the exercises!! Booo for the skin troubles. I'm so sorry to hear it's still plaguing you. I do have one or 2 at my heaviest weight (frontal view), but not a full rear shot like that (suppresses the urge to joke about wide angle lenses..hehe). The more I think about it, the more I know it's time to go shopping for clothes. Okee dokee.. time to head out to my next meeting. Today is a busy day and that's good. Keeps me out of trouble (mostly). Hugs and Luv.. thanks all for helping me with my warped picture view! Luv, Ratkity |
Ugh.. I'm gonna be late for my meeting, but had to comment...
Catherine.. you get em girl! Feel better faster, ok? Sorry TOM is there making you miserable. Toris.. thank you babe! You are so right. I'm worth it.. time to go clothes shopping! Luv, RK |
just wanted to say hello to everyone.. still feeling very rundown this week... guess my immune systen was really down! anyways i hope to be fully up and running by tomorrow for sure!
|
Hopefully I won't have to deal with the desk next time. Thanks for all the support.
The bands that the article uses look like chords. I have flat pieces of plasticy stuff that has no handles. You need the handles. I was a little bad last nite with dinner. I had to much and then i snacked. But i didn't snack that much and it wasn't really that bad for me. i think. But anyways today is new day. I also have work so maybe that will help keep me out of trouble. I can't wait to get paid lol i have been working there for a month and a half and this is the first time i get paid due to paperwork mess ups. Congrats on the gandbaby sandy. Well I gotta go try to get some sleep before work. I am really tired I stayed up doing homework last night and i didn't even finnish. Well ta ta for now i will probably come back on later. |
