Well, I managed to get a bit more sleep...I layed down at 8:30, and didn't get back up until 11:30! It's alright, because the only thing I had to do today was clean out my old car, cuz my cousin is buying it from me...and it was pouring out, so no harm done. It's still rainy, but not too bad. Looks like it should taper off here, soon, so I can get some work done. A few personals, and I'm off!

Sue - Oooh! Happy Belated Birthday to you!!! Hope it was fantastic!

Metachick - WOOOOO!!!!!! Congrats to getting out of the 300's FOREVER, and for getting to that 100 lbs lost mark!!! That is so fantastic!!!!!!!!!

Donna - Good to see you back, and re-motivated!

toofatforu 06-04-2007 01:31 PM

Sue happy birthday to you too

I had my appointment today, but didn't get a band adjustment. I didn't need it!

I was absolutely shocked by how much I had lost since my last visit (in early May)...17 POUNDS! I am scheduled now to go back in September, but I am to call in the meantime if I don't feel any restriction and/or I am at a standstill as far as weight loss goes for a specific period of time.

I also have to "step up" on the protein; otherwise, they say I am doing great. Right now I am making one of those Lean Cuisine skillet meals for dinner--Chicken Alfredo. That will last me the next few meals or so, being I can just tolerate a cup of it at a time. But it is soooooo good with all the veggies, pasta and chicken.

I guess the next step is to now go shopping for ANOTHER smaller wardrobe (and try to eat more meat)...LOL!

NoLifeWithoutHorses 06-04-2007 03:50 PM

SUE - Happy, happy belated!!! I wish I looked half as good at 40...something, as you do!

META-CHICK, WHOOP, WHOOP!!! :woo: :cp: :hat: on busting that 100 mark and hitting the twos! BRAVO!

Miss KAYLEY, it's a lifetime journey... and you're still smaller than when you started, so just keep on truckin! There's absolutely NO doubt that you can git 'er done!!

I don't know if I told you the rest of the story, so: I got up yesterday morning, put a fence up around my garden to keep the varmints out, planted a bunch more stuff, and went on with my day. I came home last night to discover that I'd left the gate open a foot, and the buggers had cleaned me out! They topped almost every plant I had, and gobbled all the lettuce! Apparently they didn't care for the tomatoes, because they just SAT on those and knocked half of them down. Spiteful critters!!!
That's it. THis is war. :club: This guy >>> :bunny2: is in serious trouble. I hear he's high protein :s: and tastes just like chicken. :hun:

Ladies, is there anything diet-wise that's supposed to help or hurt with mood swings? I've been off, not myself, for a week and a half. It's gotten REEEally old. I'm not used to being this out-of-whack and ornery, much less for 10 days at a time, and it's not doing my weight any good either. Maybe I need some more herbal tea or something.

As far that the job, my co-worker gave notice this morning. The boss is following policy and looking for a temp - NOT even starting to cross train me. I don't like the looks of it. :dz: There's a big system transition coming July 1st, and maybe they want to keep me there rather than have someone new dealing with payroll, but I'm thinking that's not a good plan. :chin: I guess I have to wait and see, and then if I don't like what I see, I can look elsewhere.

I think I need to go ride a horse, for medicinal purposes. It always makes me more relaxed and stable. Besides, the horses don't care if I whine, as long as I bring carrots.

OH LEANNE! SUPER-DOOPER job on May! Congrats on that phenomenal loss!!

WaitAMinute! I just thought of something - like the nose on my face - DUH! EXERCISE!
EXERCISE is the answer to my current hormonal mood disorder.
Heck, I know that!! All I have to do is get the treadmill un-buried, plug it in, and sweat away! I was writing on the Exercise Thread about how I have trouble counting something as exercise unless it actually makes me sweat and out of breath, and BOOM it hit me. Working out always made me feel so much 'cleaner' emotionally. I haven't done it in so long, I FORGOT! How do you forget something like that?!?! Was I just ignoring the obvious because I didn't feeeeeel like working out? Good grief, it's about time the lightbulb came on. If there's ANY way to get out of feeling like I've been feeling lately, why wouldn't I take a quick cure like that? 20-30 minutes, and I can be a new person... or at least the old person that I liked being.

OK, all I have to do is take a mental health ride, and then a mental health sweat, and I'll be ready to smile at the world - even at work.

...but that herbal tea thing wouldn't hurt, would it? :D

LAnneCarrington 06-04-2007 04:22 PM

Looks like it's going to be another Walk Away the Pounds night in addition to my regular workout; it is threatening to rain again. Leslie is a chatterbox, but I love the videos. LOL. And did I mention they're effective?:)

kayleystar 06-04-2007 05:19 PM

Andrew & I didn't make it to the grocery store this weekend, so a trip is due tonight. We speed shop, and actually work up a sweat...haha. Gets us in & out quickly, and burns some calories! :D OH! Andrew found out that the guy that was harassing him....GOT FIRED! Wahooo! :) Just wanted to get the personals in before we head to Walmart, and then to the gym.

Oh...found out that not enough people signed up for Sociology this summer....so I'm stuck taking National Government. Ugh.

LAnne - WOW!!!!! That's a fantastic weigh-in!!!! Congrats to getting to 70 lbs lost!!!!!!

Val - lol @ the bunny situation.....don't hurt him TOO bad! ;) As for foods that curb mood swings.....if you figure that one out LET US KNOW! lol. I have no clue, and that TOM is coming up soon....yikes. But you're right...exercise helps SO much. If I've had a bad day, or just feel like crap, working out ALWAYS does the trick. So much more than food does!

Hello Ladies!

Just quickly popping in to say I'm back from our mini-vacation and we had a great time. I got to swim in the Atlantic Ocean again and relax on the beach (and have a bit of sunburn as a result, even with sunscreen on). Unfortunately I didn't get to go parasailing as all the boats canceled their excursions on Saturday (when we'd planned to go) due to the effect of TS Barry. We even had gale force winds, which was kind of cool actually. I wasn't horrible in my eating but not great either, and did indulge in some things, so with that and TOM here, I decided to skip my weigh-in this week and just wait until next time.

Kayley and Misti, belated Happy Birthday wishes to you both! :celebrate:

MetaChick, :congrat: on getting out of the 300s and marking that 100lb lost milestone! :cp:

ScarlettDrawl 06-04-2007 08:36 PM

Evening, everyone. I'm pooped today! My job is soooo tedious sometimes. One day soon, I'll be on to bigger and better things. My mantra is "This is just for right now...This is just for right now". I'm looking forward to weigh in on Friday, but I guess it won't be good if I keep eating like I did today (carb-city). Then again........"After all, tomorrow is another day!"

going to lose 200 06-04-2007 08:41 PM

well girls, thats it for me tonight. Had a really good OP weekend. Painted the shed today as well as put the spare room bac together that I painted on Friday. Built a new craft area and hubby found a little mouse in the washer. I am terrified of mice so you better guess that ALL week I am going to be cleaning up a storm  EWWW!! Anyhow, going to take a cold drink upstairs and enjoy BIG MEDICINE. It was really enlightening last week. Anyhoo, have a good night all

Just a quick note. On Wednesday's Dr. Phil Show it's about being overweight:

Big Weight Issues

Do you ever look at your body in the mirror and say, "How did I get this big?" These guests watched their weight spiral dangerously out of control.

ScarlettDrawl 06-04-2007 08:57 PM

Whoops!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUE!!!!!!

33tekfan 06-04-2007 09:01 PM

Good evening everyone!

Just doing a quick hello to you all! Had a good op day today - I still even have some points left to use if I decide I want a snack while watching tv! For a few days after TOM I'm not too hungry so my days are almost always op. Too bad it's just a few days out of the month!

I finished the baby quilt I was working on and it came out nice. It's a lot bolder than what I usually use for fabrics but I like it. Other than that, not much new to report here.

Hope you all had good op days!

Cris

Misti-When I gain weight, I can’t change my ticker because I’m at the upper limit of my scale, so when I gain, all I get is ERR. I’m glad you were able to tell someone. I think that helps.

Annie-I envy you having a sister. I had nothing but brothers, and what was worse, is that there was only one girl within 5 blocks of me growing up. There were plenty of boys to play with, but the only girl was my next door neighbor, and she wasn’t allowed to play with me because we were Catholic.

Kayley when I was your age, Oklahoma had really weird alcohol rules. Girls could buy beer at the store at 18, but couldn’t buy hard stuff or drink in a bar until 21. Guys couldn’t do either until 21. On my 21st birthday I was on a college trip to Florida, and was so excited to be able to walk in and buy a bottle. It was anti-climatic though when I found out the drinking age in Florida at the time was 19, and I didn’t even get carded. I’ve gotten carded more after the age of 40 than I did before the age 25. Go figure. Of course the last time I got carded was for brake fluid. I thought that was really weird until the clerk explained that they use the stuff to make crystal meth. Tell Andrew we’re happy that he won’t have to deal with his bully anymore. Tell him living well is the best revenge.

Angela-Pumas are pretty wide. My husband’s foot is pretty wide, and he wears skateboarding shoes. He likes it when I call him surfer dude. He’s got a new pair ready to wear with his tuxedo if he doesn’t chicken out.

Catlover-I hate it when my internet or computer acts up. I do everything the same, and expect it to act the same, but sometimes it doesn’t work that way.

Ammi-I’m going to see if they can’t tweak some of my medicine to see if that is the cause. I don’t feel depressed; I just can’t seem to find the energy to move unless I eat more than I should.

Valerie-I wouldn’t count on so many straight lines in quilting these days. They are doing some wild designs now by using computers. As to your gardening, the Maya always planted one corn, one bean and one squash seed in each hole. The beans put nitrogen off on their roots to fertilize the corn and squash, the corn provides the “stalk” for the bean to grown up on, and the squash creeps along the ground covering the ground to help keep the moisture in and the weeds out. It also helps that corn, bean and squash combined make a complete protein. You can learn to can, or to dry, or just find a good food pantry. I did that one year when my spaghetti squash went nuts. I had to photocopy cooking directions and tape them to each one, but it was great. They rarely got any fresh food.
If you don’t get a certain amount of good fat everyday, you can actually get chemically depressed. Throw an extra tablespoon of olive oil in with your food for a week and see if that helps.

Xena-It could be a stress fracture. My ex-roommate kept getting those. I hope you find out what is wrong quickly and get better.

Donna-On your editing software you usually have a “save as” feature, and some of them have a sliding scale on picture quality. Just slide it down some, and the file size reduces. I understand about not being able to do anything when your foot hurts. We seem to be having a wave of plantar problems on this site. I saw a show on TV with a woman whose bra size was MMM. Her bras had to be made of Kevlar. She was having reduction surgery, and her husband couldn’t figure out why she would want to have that done (go figure).

Lesley-I used to love going to the beach during tropical storms. Not hurricanes, but just storms. The waves look so cool, and we’d watch the idiot surfers. We’d get drenched, but it was so hot that it felt good.

Went clothes shopping yesterday. For him, not me. He was very good and stayed in the changing room while I handed him stuff. I had gotten him a new brown suit. He dresses like an undertaker, and acted like he didn’t know they made brown suits. Then I got him a champagne colored dress shirt with little stripes. You should have seen the look on his face. He thinks that all dress shirts are white. I tried to explain to him that colored striped shirts are in style this year, and just got a blank stare. Of course he’s practically done a fashion show for his friends who have come over, so he’s excited about having new clothes. We got his tuxedo for Ottawa ordered today. I am still trying to convince him that bowties and cummerbunds are out and vests and Euroties are in this year. He’ll come around when he sees it on him. He was just a bachelor waaayy too long. I have told him that if he leaves the house dressed like a mess, that people will think I’m not henpecking him properly.

NotTheCheat 06-04-2007 10:25 PM

Well, guess what. I finally saw an apartment that I liked and someone else had just given the woman a check to hold it!!!! :tantrum: Argh – can I never win? I am starting to feel like the universe is just mocking me.

I am having energy issues again. I only made it 25 minutes on the elliptical and I was totally dragging towards the end. I have no idea what it is, but I am thinking allergies. If this continues after I get the emotional stress of the move over with then I am definitely going to see my doctor and get some blood work done.

Of course I could also try and remember to take my vitamins. :o
