Zelma, What a lovely story about the little boy who needed you. You're very lucky to have a job where you make a real difference in the lives now and in the future. This little boy will always remember you, I'm sure. Everyone always has one teacher who inspires them for the rest of their life. How good of you it was to talk to the entire class about another way to handle the situation and them learn to be empathetic. I'm proud to know you. :hugs:
I'm sorry I there are no more personals, my bum is very sore and it's not a lot of fun to sit in this chair. Just wanted to let you all know the surgery went well, I got home Friday evening. Yesterday I slept most of the day. SD is acting up, just like I was afraid she would. The kitchen is a diaster and it's making me crazy. Andy got on her last night, but that doesn't cure the attitude does it? :welcome3: to all the new ones, congrats to all those with losses and the rest of us, hang in there and don't give up. Hugs, |
wow, has there really been no one posting here since this morning???
I think that's a first! Sally -- Welcome! Some days I'm lucky to check in once, other days I bop in frequently! It just depends... |
Just a quick check in, hoping everyone had a nice Sunday. It was a nice weekend here for me; I raised $380 for the Arthritis Walk yesterday and had a great time doing the three mile course. And wouldn't you know I was back out there today getting in an extra mile walk around the neighborhood. If someone told me this time last year I'd be doing something like this, I think I would have told them they were NUTS.
Two weeks before I go for my second adjustment! I'm really going to watch my program these coming weeks, since I'm not feeling any restriction any longer. Hopefully I will with the next adjustment. |
Hello! This is my first post here, and I am new to being 300+ as well ;) As I am sure you can imagine, I had suspected it for awhile and just had it confirmed last week. I had been hovering around 280-295, and then came the climb to where I am now, which is 308.
I am controlling calories and eating a whole foods vegan diet focusing on health, nutrition, volume and fiber (in that order, I guess!). I have a DH who is a real sweetheart and supports me 100%, while loving me just as I am :) I am mom to a young teen girl who also wants to lose a bit (about 20 pounds) and she's got a great attitude about herself and food too :) I am a full time student at this time. I hope to get to know the folks who post here and look forward to chatting with you all ;) |
Haven't had time to catch up...I'll try in the morning, but we'll see. Had a great last weekend with my friend. A very ACTIVE weekend, too! ;) We went downtown where she lives for over 5 hours! And did TONS of walking, and then went swimming for over 2 1/2 hours!
I'm SO tired. Early to bed for me! |
Welcome SoulBliss! This is a really friendly group! I just joined myslef.
Good Luck! |
Wyllenn,
Thanks for the update and for being helpful! I look forward the post and the support! Thank you again, have a great week! |
Glad you found us, Soulbliss!
And I think you'll find us to be a VERY chatty group. Most of the time, anyway!!!! Today has been very sloooooooooooow... :) Vegan diet -- is that something you've done a long time, or are you new to it? |
Thanks for the welcome, all!
I have been vegan for over 5 years. I have usually eaten well too, but also had far too many cookies and breads when I was not being diligent about my weight :o |
Scarlett: I hope you get a new suit so you can go swim again soon too.
Patti: Welcome back home! Hope you had a good time. Lesley: Hugs. You can always start anew right now! Sally: I log on as many times a day as I am able. Sometimes I just log on with no time for replys but I get to read what you guys write and then I can jump in my car or do my chores and pray for any needs that I feel the tug on my heart to pray for. Just log on as many times a day as you feel like it. It seems to be much slower on the weekends. Sandy: so glad you are doing well. I'm sure your bum will be sore for a while. My sister just had the same surgery and she is sore too. So sorry SD is being a brat again. Hugs. LeeAnnC: Congrats on doing the Arthritus walk and helping so many other people. You must feel so happy about that. Soulbliss: Welcome aboard! Glad you are here. Everyone is so encouraging and loving. Hope to get to know you better soon. Kayley: Wow, you were really moving your bootie today with all the swimming and walking! Great job having fun while exercising. Well, I had one of the very best days I've ever had in my life. I went for a normal old Sunday drive with my DH. I was doing the driving so that means pretty much my choice in the direction we take. lol. I saw a store out in the middle of no where that I have seen a few times and I pulled in thinking it was some kind of Native American type things. The store is called "Wolf People" It ended up being a store that promotes the conservation of wolves that are wild up here where I live. Well, I saw a sign that said they have live wolves that you can see. Being a total animal lover, especially dogs tee hee (dogpal) I wanted very much to see the wolves. I was looking at some jackets and heard what sounded like baby wolves and thought that they are probably running a movie on them. I gravitated towards the sound and when I turned the corner it was not a movie. It was live baby wolves being cuddled by people and fed with a bottle by people. I said aloud, "Ahhhhh" and I planed on asking if I could touch the babies. A man holding one told me before I even asked him to touch one that I could hold one if I would like to. IF I WOULD LIKE TO, screamed my brain. I just had to wash my hands and then I got to cuddle a baby wolf. We had our camera as we usually do on our Sunday drives and my hubby took the picture of me holding the wolf baby. That is my Avatar photo for now. The little wolf snuggle right into my neck an she licked my neck and face. After a while she started getting grumpy and even howled like a big old wolf only a baby tiny voice. I figured she maybe has to go potty or wants to walk or something. They have their eyes open but they can't see well just blurs. So, I put her in the box with the rest of her sisters. She comes from a litter of 7 babies all female. She is a Timber Wolf native to Northern Idaho and Montana. They also had two pure black male arctic wolf babies three weeks old! After snuggling the babies I got to go and see the adult wolves and the man said if they put their ears down and come towards you that means they want to make friends and I could pet them. The alpha female put her ears down and came towards me. I put my hand in the fence and she licked it a bunch. The alpha male came up with his ears up and sniffed my hand and touched his nose to my hand then walked away. They had another male there that put his ears down and licked my hand too. I have never seen such big teeth on a dog type animal. Their teeth were sooooo long and sharp looking. Pretty scary actually. Any way, it was one of the very best days I have had in a long time. Any time I get to be around animals I have a great day! Just wanted to share with you and hope you guys can see the cute face of the little wolf in the avatar picture. I hope you all have a wonderful exercise filled op week this week. Tomorrow is my wi day and I am not thinking I am going to loose anything because not only did I eat when I was so upset Monday and Tuesday, I ate a lot! Oh, well this is a new week and I can do better. Blessings to you all Annie |
