Default How long to see results?

How long did it take you guys to notice a difference in your clothes? I've lost 11 lbs so far and I know that's not enough to notice a difference yet, but I'm anxious.... 2 years ago I lost about 30 lbs and I remember a real difference, but I don't remember how long it took. I'm following South beach phase 1 and walking at least a mile a day on my treadmill. I'm just getting a little discouraged. I do have more energy. I don't get sleepy in the afternoon like I used to. My acne cleared up (PCOS). I ran up the steps at my parents house with out gasping for air... But I want to be able to tell. I've been dieting since april 2. The first week I did restricted calories, under 1200, and didn't lose any weight. Then I decided on South beach.. Words of encouragement would really be appreciated.....

Hi Liz, This is the first time I've posted and I haven't weighed myself yet. My scale's not working right. Anyway, just wanted to say keep up the good work on the exercise! Also, you may not have lost any weight when you restricted your calories under 1200 because when you do that your body goes into starvation mode and tends to hold on to whatever calories you take in. My understanding is that at our weight if you keep your calories between 1500 and 1800, exercise and try to stick with fruits, vegies, whole grains and lean proteins , the weight will come off. Anyway, that's what has worked for me in the past. I wish you the best of luck and again, great job on the exercise!!!

It varies--a LOT. Some people notice a difference in 5-10 pounds. Personaly, I once lost about 50 pounds and still wore the same exact size pants--maybe slightly more comfortably, but to me, not much of a noticeable difference at all. There are lots of factors to consider, including age, exercise, body shape, weight distribution, genetics, etc. I tend to lose in my calves and face long before I shed so much as a milimeter off my waist, so I don't notice the loss as much because I don't wear clothes on my cheeks nor my shins

I first noticed a difference at around -20 pounds, which was about 2" off my waist.

Thanks for the respones, ladies. I really appreciate it. It's like I know what I'm doing is working. I just wish it would work a little faster, and I'm always scared to step on the scale. Even though I haven't cheated or quit excersizing, I'm afraid when i get on the scale it's gonna say I gained 10 lbs. I know that sounds so stupid....

If by "stupid," you mean "completely normal," then yes

Hi Liz, I just asked my husband this morning why do my pants still fit tightly! darn it! I lost some weight and not sure where??

I am on the SBD too. also you said your acne cleared up.. I have that problem so bad at times i think I am a teenager! I am 39! I am too old to have zits!

Are you doing anything for your acne other then eating phase 1 foods? Please share.

Thanks
