  • Welcome!

...To the March exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Early in the month (or before it starts) set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year.

To start, please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

    Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!
  • Yahoo! I'm first for March! I made a ticker for myself, which should be easier for myself. Hope to see "less" of you in the next few weeks!
  • I will join the March thread with an aim of 900 minutes in the month!!

    Feeling brave (I think!!)

    Em
  • Well Feb is coming to an end and I am struggling to finish my 800 min. I think most of that was due to having a part time job. Quit the job for a while, so want to do better on the 800 min.

So all that to say personal goal for March is 800 min.
  • By Wednesday I will have just made my February exercise goal, so to be on the safe side I will keep the same goal for March, so for me I will be doing my Gazelle, working out to DVDs, walking and going to the gym for a total of 1200 minutes

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • I have got to get back with exercise! I am setting a goal for 1000 minutes in March. I know I can do it because I have done it before, just not recently.
  • Well I sort of blew my Feb. goal by basically giving up for 2 weeks. I am going to stick with 600 for March though. There is no reason I physically can't meet that goal. I just need to be dedicated to the goal!
  • I'm going to try to average 50 min a day again. March has 31 days, so my goal will be 1550 minutes.
  • Psh, February... I don't know what happened. Well, yes I do. Laziness happened. And also being sick.

Hmm, I think I will stick to 700 minutes. I'm going to keep this goal until I meet it! It should be easier considering tomorrow (my birthday) I'm getting an mp3 player so I can have some music while working out. For me, it's no problem exercising once I get to the exercise room (in the leasing office building for my apartments), but actually getting there is the problem. I guess I just need to kick my own butt and make sure I get there... haha.
  • Lindsey-- Getting there is still the problem for me, too. But I do love my ipod!!!!
  • My goal for March is 300 minutes (30 mins a dayx3 days a week). I'm starting out slow but more than likely will change my time as I go along since I will be rejoining Curves this afternoon after my fiance gets home. I've got a PUSH TV DVD that I started working out with yesterday. So Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: PUSH TV DVD workout (40 minutes) and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: Curves (30 minutes).Wish me luck!
  • I am setting a goal for March. I have ordered PUSH but its not here yet. I am currently walking 1 mile in the AM with Leslie Sansone (aout 20 minutes). I want to make the goal something that pushes me but is still attainable. I am going to set the goal for 600 minutes--based on 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. If the PUSH dvd haven't arrived, I'll add 10 minutes of stretching with Richard Simmons.
  • Great to see some new faces! I hope you ladies enjoy!
  • I'm in again. This will make my fourth month and it has helped tremendously to get me back into the exercise groove. I didn't do so well in February. But I still did 855 minutes. Better than none!

My goal for March is 1100. That means I have to get better at doing something at night in addition to my morning cardio.
  • I'm in! I have to admit that I'm not used to exercising, so I'm going to start with a small goal of 500 minutes. If I do more, that's great but I don't want to set a goal too high.
