Kymberly -- Shopping is MUCH more fun at this size. And even if clothes are tight, they somehow don't look at bad as they did when clothes were tight when I was a 28/30... I am actually happy at this size, even though I know many women at this size feel really fat! I SEE that I still have fat, but compared to what it was???

And that, ladies, is the mental block to further weight loss! This is why I am not motivated to lose more: I like the way I look and the size I'm at! No wonder I can't be motivated to get further into the 'overweight' category. That's okay, though! If at some point I AM motivated to go further, I can.

Valerie -- BIG  honey! Just keep taking it one day at a time. You KNOW you can do a day! Do you think it's a problem that you're losing for the wedding as opposed to losing for YOU?

Catherine -- I nearly snorted my coffee when I read what your husband did! That's hysterical! You going to give it a try?? ;)

Annie -- Remember, no matter what the scale says, you are doing great things for yourself and getting healthier in the process! Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone. My Weigh in was not so good! I was so dissappointed. I skipped (accidentally) my diaretic pills for water retention. The ww leader thinks that was the reason I had a 5 POUND GAIN!!!! I promise I have been an op angel. I have been exercising like crazy and staying totally in my points. So, I am not going to move my tracker until next Saturday's weigh in. If it stays the same or anything I will move it but she is sure that it is a water gain. I kind of believe her because my feet, legs and hands are swollen from missing my meds. So, hopefully it will all come off soon. I was so discouraged I cried all the way home. I thought what is the point if I try so hard and nothing but a weight gain happens. I almost, almost I say, went to have Mc Donalds Breakfast to drown my sorrows. I didn't though. I came home and came straight here and wrote a couple of emails and then came to tell you guys. So, I am going to take a nap then when I wake up, I will eat my oatmeal and exercise like any other day. I am not giving in!

Blessings to you all and hope you are all doing well,
Annie

sorry about your WI Annie... that water weight is a real pain but keep on doing what you are doing and it will come off before you know it!

Heather 02-03-2007 11:51 AM

Annie -- Don't get discouraged! You had such a big loss the week before, maybe you hit last week at the perfect time and were not retaining ANY extra water.

Good for you for resisting the drive in!

Again, you are doing the right things, and may be the type to see big swings in your weigh ins (that happens to my husband).

DON'T GIVE UP, ANNIE!!!
Oh! I have an idea!

Can you list 3-5 things you are doing now that you COULDN'T do before OR are doing better/longer than you used to do them??? Could be fitness or eating related...

Xena2005 02-03-2007 01:03 PM

Rafaella – :welcome2: to our group. I am glad you found us.

Sandy – Congrats on the blood pressure being normal again! And the 7 pounds gone. Water retention can really throw you for a loop, can’t it? :dizzy:

Nancy – I hope things get better for you soon. As a fellow accountant, I understand what you are going through work-wise this time of year. It’s no fun at all. I worked very hard through all of 2006 to find a better work/life balance. I only just now feel like I might be getting the hang of it. It can be a very difficult change to make.

Ammi Beeeeeeee-YOOOOOOO-teeful new pictures you posted. Look at how your big brown doe eyes have come out from hiding. Still so incredibly happy for you!:carrot:

Jill – Congrats being out of the 280’s. Your story about your binge resonated with me. I did the same thing last night. Friday nights can feel lonely for me sometimes if I don’t have somewhere to go or something to do and I am susceptible to bingeing then. And I did overeat last night but, like you, it was with more awareness. And it was odd, it was almost like I didn’t NEED to do it (which is how I have felt in the past) but that I was choosing to do it. What I did last night was not healthy by any means and is not something I want to continue but I almost had the feeling that bingeing in coming to and end for me soon. Until last night, it had been several weeks since a true binge. I dunno….maybe this treating myself with patience and kindness thing is actually starting to work!

Charlene – Way to go on losing another 10 pounds! :congrat: Hey, I love your dog. Is it a boxer?

Emily – AMEN to what you said about not putting things off until you are slimmer. I spent years at that and it’s just a never-ending downward spiral that way! I am glad to hear you sounding so happy!

Catherine – Thanks for sharing those tips. I got rid of some toxic friends last year and can honestly say I am much better for it. As for going to Nepal….your hubby sounds adventurous! I would love that! Do you think you will go for it?

Annie – Bless your heart, I hate to hear you driving home crying from your meeting. Just remember it is water weight. You know that. Stick with it this week, remember to take those meds, and just think what a nice reward you will have on the scale next week.

Candlemaker – :welcome:

As for me, I made it through another work week. I worked out a little this morning and am getting ready to have a nice lunch. Then it's out for some shopping and other errands. I got a week's vacation approved for the middle of March so I plan to go to KC again and visit my friend who had a baby in October. Need to call my dog-sitter and see if she is available. Last time Buster had to go to "puppy prison" and he didn't like it. Neither did I. I hate leaving him like that. I'd much rather leave him with my old neighbor. She loves Buster and lets him sleep in bed with her so I know he is happier there.

Take care everyone. Have a great weekend!

The scale is a wacky thing.

Hey Annie. I just wanted to offer you a hug and say keep doing what our doing. I did a weigh in at home at night this week and was up 3 lbs  I did another one just for kicks the next day and I was down 4. Don't let the scale get you down, take your meds and keep doing what your doing

Also hi everyone. I have been kinda of lurking and finally posted.
I kinda jump around between here, the 100LB group and the IE thread.

Emily, :congrat: on swimming. I love to swim but haven't been in years. I am seriously thinking about buying a above ground pool.

Wyllenn and Kymberly, thanks. I was so hyped up about my loss that I couldn't sleep last night. :hyper:

Valerie, I have those wasted day feelings sometimes. Here's to a great WI on Feb 28th. :goodluck:

Kymberly, I would take 4 out of 50 also. Way to go. Your team is still in the running for first place.

Catherine, I do #1 on your list everyday. I have done #2, gotten rid of toxic friends. In the process of doing #3. I really do enjoy all this material you have been posting. :thanks:

Annie, I bet it is water retention. It broke my heart when you said you cried all the way home. Good for you for not giving up. :cp:

Brenda, those burgers and fries sound good. :hun: Have fun with your company.

Hi Candlemaker, :welcome2:

Xena, thank you. Yes, he is a boxer. A sissy one at that :lol3:

Obsidianbbw, :welcome2:

I have gotten the living room cleaned and most of the bathroom. I still need to do the floor. Got some laundry done. I am ready for a nap.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

dogpal 02-03-2007 02:58 PM

Everyone: Hugs to you all and thank you for the support and confirmation of this stupid gain. I think I cried all the way home because, I am sooo tired and also, It was a real shock to gain after being so good. lol I am okay now. I have decided like I told you all before. I am not giving up. I ate my oatmeal and a banana for breakfast with a cup of yucky cleansing green tea stuff. ewwwww. lol. At lunch I ate salad with chicken breast, grapes, a bit of cheese and some cottage cheese with a 2 point bag of ww pretzels. I feel great that I didn't blow it. I have been tracking all my points, done my weight lifting and situps and after I finish here I am off to my bike riding and watp tape. I got to talk to my oldest sister today and she cheered me up too. Basically telling me the same as you all. thank you again. Welcome to the New ladies.
Xena; I hope Buster doesn't have to go to jail. lol my puppies hate jail too.

As per Wyllen: 3-5 things that I can do now that I couldn't do last month!

1) ride my bike for 20 minutes straight without coming back to it.
2) Get weighed, show a gain, cry and still stay on track. This is really new to me. lol.
3) I got through the month of January and started the month of February still doing well op and exercising daily. Never ever done that before. I've always quit two weeks into a diet.
4) I can say that I took my measurements on January 14th because I forgot to take them on the 1st and then I took them again on the 1st of February and since the 14th of January I have lost 11 inches all over my body!
5) I can look at the scale sitting on my dryer and say to it, "I hate you and soon your going to be smashed to pieces in the trash" and mean it!

Thanks Wyllenn. Great therapy idea. I feel better already again.

Blessings and hugs to you all,
Annie

Glad u are staying on the positive side annie, we are all rooting for you, damn scales; water weight can affect things a lot I know from nursing, you could retain 7lbs of weight by not taking meds, so try not to despair, u have a great attitude :)

I'm going swimming again in the morning, I do find it a little embarrasing walking about in my cossie, but I'll get over it, its so nice once i am in the pool, I find it great time to focus on my goals while I swim away!

Have eaten when not hungry today for first time in weeks, its the essay writing, does it to me every time! But will start again tomorrow - its another day eh?? :)

Jilly, well done on the weight loss, you are doing great especially as u had a funny week or so, thats good news!

Heather 02-03-2007 05:33 PM

Jilly - forgot to say :woohoo: on the loss!

Annie -- Those are GREAT things you couldn't do before! A great way to think positively!

I was thinking about improvements today... when I first started weight lifting it wiped me out. I came home and needed 1-2 hours to recuperate... and those were 25 min sessions. Now, a year later, I lift for an hour. Today I came home, had my protein, and 30 min after I got home was outside carrying and stacking wood!

sandybar 02-03-2007 09:35 PM

HI Everyone,
Just a quick note to say hello and welcome to those that are new. You'll love it here.
Catherine, Your dh is too funny. I hope you take up that offer. Maybe some good would come if they listened to a real, everyday person with good sense.
To those of us who had a gain this week, remember, success isn't measured by the scale. It's measured by healthier choices, and doing better than we have in the past.
To those of us that had a loss this week, hooray!
Ammi, Girl, I love your pics. Those are just amazing. I noticed Beth looks just like you. :)
As for me, yesterday we had a Super Bowl party at work and I was a little naughty. Today has been weird. I literally forgot to eat til after 3:30 this afternoon. It was after dd's game, (which was not good, our team was totally off today and the other team was totally on....plus they got away with lots of fouls and travels   So, we stopped by Wendy's, got cheeseburgers and fries and of course, a diet coke. ;)
Now, I'm working on a cup of coffee. I feel yucky, no doubt cuz my system is all out of whack. I'm gonna have some good quality protein for dinner and I'll be on the gazelle for a little while.
Tomorrow is my favorite day of the year. Super Bowl Sunday.
Man, do I love football. Our Indianapolis Colts are playing for those of you that don't follow football. Indianapolis is only 45-50 minutes away. The bad part of Super Bowl Sunday, is the food and drink. We won't have any alcohol this year. But lots of yummy green tea. (sorry I can't remember who didn't like green tea, but it's great as iced tea, i'm not fond of it hot at all, but Iced Green Tea I love)

I've made some home made ham and bean soup. But, I'm about the only one that will eat it. DD has pizza rolls for the game, I bought some jalapeno poppers, mozz sticks, carrots, celery and radishes. I'll make some chili or beef veggie soup too. No chips and dip this year or cheese ball either. No cookies, brownies or cake for the game either. So, all and all, it'll a progressive Super Bowl Party. I'm not gonna feel guilty about the poppers. They will be my treat and yes a treat isn't something I have all the time anymore. (thanks for the quiz Zelma, I was able to answer yes to lots of them, just not many of the exercise ones yet, but I will)
Ok, my friends, I gotta get some more coffee and fold laundry. It's really cold here, (not like Canada or Alaska, but cold for us minus 3 to minus 8 before wind chill.)
Big :hug:to all.

Heather 02-03-2007 09:39 PM

Christina -- Well, if calorie counting won't work for you, what would? Maybe we can help. Don't give up!

When I first started I didn't do anything complicated. I just watched portions and brought lunch and snacks to work.
- Using a smaller plate can help.
- Some people use a rule something like: 50% of the plate should be veggies, 25% meat, 25% starch...
- Some people vow to get in so many fruits and/or veggies a day...

There are lots of things you can do short of calorie counting to help you lose weight.

Why did you stop Atkins? Knowing what DOESN'T work for you may help you figure out what DOES
