  • Thank goodness the electricity is back on!!!! I have slept on the floor with K since it was cooler in the hallway..THe night of the hurricane, we watched the wind and rain half the night since there was no power and she was sweating and coughing..She has fits when she gets too warm..We even sat on the carport until the winds got too strong and the rain was blowing in..Lisa--glad your family is ok!! I think the folks in Lake Charles and the little towns in La got the hardest hit being on the east side of the storm..I was just glad that she downgraded to a 3 before hitting...2 more months and only 3 more names to use...TOday, we must clean up branches and leaves..The yard looks like a war zone but I am ok with that..Work was not as busy as we expected(of course we are full to the rim with patients)since N.O. reflooded--there were no people there so no one to evacuate here...
Off to clean the yard again...
    Hello to all!!!
    RR
  • Hi all, I'm new and I'm hoping this is a good place for me. This area of the board seems to have a lot of continuity and great people.

RoadRunner -- I know just how you feel about getting your power back on. I live in Florida and was affected by no less than three hurricanes last year. Really exhausting. Once we never lost power because we were on the outer edges (just lost a few trees), but for Jeanne and Frances I was out of power for two weeks each. It was truly awful. I'm glad to hear that things are looking better for you now.
  • Hi All!

RR, glad everything's OK by you and you've got power again. What are the name of those Rx ear drops that are for relieving the pain on contact?? I was going to ask the Dr. about them yesterday and forgot.

Michelle, Welcome! Glad to have you with us. Glad you didn't get hit.

Hi to everyone else. Sorry I've been soo scarce lately, I'm really trying to get organized, but the boys are driving me crazy and I can't get anything done. Plus, Robby's got an ear infection...again, and is being very clingy.

Here's to a good week! I'm feeling pretty motivated this week.
  • Hello Everyone!

RR: I'm glad that you have electricity! I would hate to be stuck without air conditioning. I'm like your little one and I can't breathe when it's hot. Epecially if I'm trying to sleep. Yuck. I'm happy to hear that work isn't crazy for you either. Did any more boxes arrive yet?

Michelle: Wow, two weeks without power. That must have totally sucked. Welcome to the group!

Lauren: Sorry to hear about Robbie's ears. I hope they clear up soon. I know how hard it is to get anything done with Velcro baby hanging on.

I'll probably be scarse for the next few days. There's a lot going on here. We are going to start the South Beach plan on Wednesday (because that is shopping day). I'm still reading the book right now. I had already worked on cutting down and night time is driving me bonkers. I'm starving every night. Last night it was so bad I ready to dive into the fridge head first, but I resisted. I don't know how long I will be able to hold out. I hope my stomach shrinks soon!
  • Lauren--they are just Benzacaine ear drops--different names by different manufacturers--Auralgan, Americaine Otic, Otocain etc..Auralgan is the ones I had..but I cant use them anymore cuz of the tubes and constant drainage.Hope he is better..

Michelle--I remember those 3 back to back last year..I say we are both done with them!!!!We were without power for 2 weeks after Andrew 10yrs ago..THat is something U dont forget when it is 100degrees outside!!

    Ok--back to cleanup!!!
    RR
  • Hello all,

RR, I am glad that you have electricity, and are safe.

Michelle, welcome to the group. You will find it verry supportive here.

Lauren, glad you are feeling motivated to get things done. How is the job search going?

Karen, good for you for cutting out evening snacks. I know how hard that is. Good luck with the South Beach Diet and for staying out of the fridge at night. You can do it!

Well Back to studying. Hello to everyone I didn't talk to.
  • Lisa, I have an interview on Thursday...that second interview I've been waiting weeks for. It was supposed to be last Monday, but they canceled because the guy's son was sick. I did have an interview Tuesday at a Union, but I told the recruiter I didn't want it. I was really uncomfortable with the situation. I would not have been a union member, just working for them and getting the benefits. It felt very "mobbish". I'm also hoping for an interview at another place soon...preferably before I get offered this one I'm going for Thursday, because it's got better pay, benefits, etc.
  • Hi again all, thanks for the warm welcome! Today I "officially" started my plan, though I've actually been following it for a week already (wanted a headstart).

One thing I've already discovered -- I must stop watching the Cooking Channel! I watched a couple of Paula Dean shows yesterday and they were pure torture!
  • Hi all!

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. It's been a busy week. I was sick with the "crud" a couple of days last week, finally got over that, but now I have a cold! UGH! I'm surviving, but between that and everything else I just haven't spent much time on the computer.

Despite being sick (which NEVER reduces my appetite unfortunately) I've been keeping track of my points and doing pretty well. I lost .8 last week. Hoping this week will be pretty good, even though I did drink 17.5 of my points in OJ yesterday! LOL What is it about OJ that feels so good on a sore throat?

RR - Glad you got your power back and didn't have any major damage, etc.

Michelle - Welcome to the group!

Lauren - good luck on the interview, but hope you hear from the other place soon!

Karen - good luck on the new plan.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and has a good week.
  • Hi All!

ARGH...this damn interview is driving me nuts...now it's changed again, to Wednesday AM. I told her if he changes it again, I'll have to kill him, because this time DH has to take time off for me.

LE, I love nice, cold OJ when sick! Have you tried Simply Orange? I love that stuff, tastes like fresh squeezed.
  • We had Chicken and 40 cloves for dinner done in the Crock Pot for dinner. Can anyone say sawdust? Ugh. I had to wash every bite of chicken down with a drink of water. And I'm not a big fan of roasted garlic on bread. So I had bread and butter for dinner tonight! That was certainly not a diet dinner. Ugh.
  • Legal, I am sorry that you are not feeling well. I hope that you get better soon.

Lauren, did you hear about that other job. It sounds as if they are trying to jerk you around at the other interview. If you didn't already not want the job, I would advise you to think long and hard about taking it. Did that make sense? Even as I was typing it I was like "huh". (Sorry it's late)

Karen, Sorry about the yucky dinner. If I were you, I would write "No Good" on that recipe.

I am sorry that I might not be making any sense tonight. I had a long day at school and then came home and wrote a paper. I have two more to write before Wednesday. But I must do them tommorrow (Tuesday) because I am extremely tired and I will be going to bed as soon as I am done with this post.

Good night ya'll. Talk to you later. (Hopefully more clearly)
  • hey all..sorry haven't been on much..very busy with school. monday the 3rd of october my mother in law is going for her LONG awaited total hip replacement surgery. Hope they don't cancel it for some reason.. We've been waiting over a year. Long story..
Anyway good news on the scale from this morning.. I was beginning to think I was stuck on 250.. LOL but I am not counting my chickens yet.. cause it could always come back. i've been yo yo ing from 246-250 for last 3 weeks
I have to confess I totally cheated on my birthday and guess what would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
  • Hello everyone,

I started on South Beach this morning. I had a scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast at 7:30 and by 9 I was hungry! I had lunch at 11:45 'cause I was so hungry. I hope my tummy gets used to this program quickly! I'm REALLY craving the carbs. I hope I can willpower my way through this.

Lauren: Hope your interview went well. Let us know.

ER: Hope your MIL's surgery goes OK!
  • karen - thanks but the surgery is cancelled again.. she is sick again with dehydration, diarrhea (bet your glad i added that). well that figures..on to happier things!! I am doing a kind of mix of south beach and atkins. Some days I totally restrict carbs atkins style..and then others I allow some..which is south beach. You get used to not having the carbs..it just takes some time for your body to get used to it.
I jumped on the scale at my gym. You know those medical ones. I was always close to the 250 side but of course more than 250. I always hated them to move that over to the 250 block. well i was glad to stay on the 200 block.. well it was 248 but still under 250. Does anyone know what I mean?? I just can't wait to get to ONEDERVILLE!!!
I am having my mother buy my uniforms in one size lower in pant and shirt. I will definately be fitting in it by December if not earlier. She always gets me uniforms for work for xmas. My clothes now are slightly baggier than I usually have them. I don't really like tight fitting clothes.. I know the roles are there..no need for everyone else to see them. LOL

Everyone enjoy the rest of the week !! TTYL
