Well, to elaborate a bit...it was a "corporate decision". We are slow right now, so we did some restructuring and eliminated your position. OK, wait, let me contain myself from doing a happy dance!
I was not expecting it to happen yesterday, but I was expecting that if I didn't quit soon, they would have to let me go, because who wants to pay someone 40K to answer phones and make coffee?
I left my recruiter a message this AM and she called me back with a job! It's not too far from home, probably a similar distance, but it's the opposite direction, which means running with traffic.
I think there are enough side roads to make it easier though. It's another small office, but totally different industry. She is submitting my resume on Monday, because the 2 VPs are out of the office today and they don't want the woman that is currently there...and screwing things up...to see it. She said they're pretty excited about it though.
I also had a phone interview on Tuesday with another agency that has a position for a software company. It's an admin job, but it's more project/tech related. It sounds awesome and the pay is at least 5K more than I'm making now, but it's also with the traffic and further away. And I'm not sure they'll want me because I'm lacking some of the skills they want. I'm probably about 75-80% qualified. I'm hoping to get an in person interview next week.
So for the time being I'll just be home waiting for my final paycheck and severance.

Karen, it was a lay off, not firing. When DH & I bought my bike, and made sure I got a nice big "wide load" gel seat!
I've only rode it couple times though.PJ, No, that was Lisa that just moved. While I was out on maternity leave, they laid off 2/3 our sales force and moved some positions around in the office. The girl that was a 2nd F/T marketing & sales admin (my original position), became P/T M&S, and P/T Customer Service (my current...at the time...position). So when I came back from maternity leave, all they had open was receptionist. I told them on my first day back that I wished they had just laid me off, because I didn't want to be receptionist, it was a slap in the face. So yeah, I was hoping for it. I came close to just up and quitting a few times, but I had to hold off, because I needed to have the unemployment option if I didn't get a new job right away. And besides, I enjoyed getting paid that much to make coffee!

Lisa, Yeah, it stings just ever soo slightly.
But it's definitely for the best!Rakkoon, Yup, definitely was prepared!
Well, tomorrow is The Wiggles in Philly!!
