RR

LBH 04-17-2005 03:54 PM

Hi All,

RR, I came, I unstuck last week, and got "called" away! Oh well... YES, you're nuts!! Geez, I hope you aren't "forced" to buy too many!

We spent the evening in the ER last night. Robby has a mild case of pneumonia. :( They did a chest xray, and a deep suction of his nose. Didn't get much out...I tried to tell them he wasn't too nasally congested, because he wasn't having problems nursing until yesterday, but I think that was because he was running a 103° fever and crabby. I really like our hospital though. They have their own Children's Hospital and ER and everyone is really friendly and sweet. The Dr. has a 3 wk. old DD, the resp. therapist has a 6 mos. old DS, and the 2 nurses we dealt with had 2 boys each. So while he had been on Amox. since Monday for double ear infection, they switched him to Augmentin. He's still running a fever, but at last check a few hours ago, it was 99.5°.

It's soooo gorgeous here this weekend...it's 76° on the back porch right now. Mom & I were sitting outside with Robby for a little while today. DH has been in bed most of the day...he's got a sinus infection, or something. Peter was outside playing earlier, but it napping now. I could live with this weather year round! :flow1: It's supposed to be like this pretty much all week too!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Oh, BTW, I hope no one minds my new siggy...it's not too big, is it? And I finally added a ticker. This is what I weighed at Curves Thursday night. It's 6 lbs. heavier than what I weighed at my 6 wk. check up, but it was also ngiht time, whereas I usually weigh in the AM. And my home scale...still have to put those batteries in. Yes, I'm a major procrastinator...not to mention I have a memory like a sieve... (sp?).

midwife 04-17-2005 04:27 PM

Lauren, I love your new signature! I am sorry that your little one is not feeling well. It has been a rough winter, that's for sure.

It is beautiful here today. We are opening the pool, though the water temp is 50! Yikes! It will have to heat up before we actually use it.

I hope you had fun at the doll museum, RR, and that you only bought things that you wanted from the gift shop.

I picked up a book at the conference I went to in DC titled, "Is menstruation obselete?". When I read it I'll let you all know! :dizzy: Actually, it is becoming more and more common to use combined OCPs (and the ring) continuously and women can avoid PMS, periods, the blood loss, etc. It is probably more effective birth control, too. Just say no to AF! :s:

KarenK 04-17-2005 09:09 PM

Hello Everyone,

Whew what a beautiful day here today! We got to play outside for the first time all week without freezing. Little guy will play outside with his teeth chattering and his hands turning purple, but mom can't take sitting out there! Anyhow, DH is in California this week, he's back for a week then goes to Italy for two weeks. The back yard was starting to look ragged so I decided to mow it. Oh my, do you know how much fun it is to use the mower with a two year old hanging on to your shirt tale? I couldn't even think about doing the front. DH will have to cut it before he leaves.

RR: I hope you were able to enjoy the doll museum and not have too many tantrums or have to buy any broken dolls!

Lauren: I'm so sorry Robby is sick. I hope he gets better quickly. I'm with you on wishing the weather was like this all year long. I like this *so* much better than snow! MIL bought Alex a slide that can be in or out. He *loves* it. He has been sliding all of his toys down it. He does it, says "Whee" and then laughs his head off. I like your siggy too.

Midwife: Say no to AF? I love it. If I ever manage to get pregnant again, I would like to just say no to her!

Hope everyone had a super weekend.

RoadRunner 04-17-2005 09:43 PM

Hello all...Doll museum went wonderful...THe owner was an older woman who had a Down's Syndrome son 45 y/o...SD was funny and entertaining..Thank goodness all the dolls were behind glass!!!I ended up buying them each a tiny doll for $3/each so I got off easy!!!
Dh and I decided to get a new bedroom set for our anniversary..I am too excited!! A king size bed for the 3 of us to be more comfortable!!!!It will be delivered next Saturday..
http://www.bedroomfurnitureusa.com/c...m&id=2712&cat=
Now that everyone was no payment or interest until 2007 it is easy to get into trouble!!!It will be here next Saturday!!

Lauren--Sorry about the baby...Kaylee still has that nasty cough, but the fever has been gone for 2 days..She had lower lobe pneumonia..I think the Rocephin shots and the Z-pack has kicked it out hopefully!!!

Karen--U must look like me, a two year old hanging on you on the treadmill, the bath etc etc!!! :dizzy: :dizzy:

Ok...I did 2 miles/30 minutes on the treadmill alone!!!I feel great!!! on to accomplish our goals for the week!!!
Good Evening all!!

LBH 04-18-2005 08:57 AM

Hi All,

RR, she's getting soo big! I can see a lot of DH & you in her...used to be all you! Beautiful bedroom set! When is your anniv. again? Is it 5/7??

Karen, that's funny, about the slide! Peter had soo much fun outside this weekend, riding his little power truck around. My mom bought him a little t-ball set too, so he had fun OK.

Quote:

"Is menstruation obselete?"
...I wish!! If I could just be PG all the time, that'd be great! One of my MW thought that was just too weird, the Seasonal BCP, messing with Mother Nature too much. The other thought it was fine. I am seriously considering it when I'm done BF'ing, or the hag comes back.

lppennington 04-18-2005 12:52 PM

Hello to all,

RR; what a cutie! I bet that she is full of energy and it is hard to keep up.

I just wanted to pop in and see how everything was going. I just am taking a break to clear my head. I have to study for a mid-term tonight. (It's a 7 week class) :( :( :?:

I am soo ready for summer break! Even if I only get one week. Summer School is not going to be much better. Oh well, try and think positively. It will be okay.

Well I am off to get ready for the day and then it is hitting the books. :stress:

LBTEPA 04-18-2005 10:13 PM

All these anecdotes about your little ones make me just want to jump up from the work puter and run home to my DD!! How gorgeous they all are :)
Lisa - thinking of you as you crunch your brain, sending some positive thoughts to go with yours!
I made another small step to 'normal eating' land last night. I don't get on with my M-I-L and realised recently that I tend to overeat to try and numb myself when I'm around her. Functional, huh? So last night we went over there and I really concentrated on only eating normal amounts, so when we got home I didn't feel disgusted with myself or bloated or ill :D go me!
I'm going to my Mum's in the country this long weekend (Anzac day) so I'll be doing a lot of lovley walks along the river as well as a couple of training runs for the Mothers' day run. Maybe I'll see some action on my ticker soon!
Have a good week everyone

lppennington 04-18-2005 11:23 PM

LB, Thanks for the kind thoughts. I used to feel that way about all my ex-inlaws. Now that I am divorced, and living with my parents I am doing much better. However I have to get off the "crazy" school schedule. I don't eat at the same time every day and I know that doesn't help. We don't have Anzac Day in the states, what is it? Anyways enjoy the time with your mom and all the hiking. Sounds like a nice peaceful time. :D

Hello to everyone else as well. :)

LBTEPA 04-19-2005 02:31 AM

Anzac Day commemorates Aussie servicemen, "Anzacs" who have served overseas - something like your Memorial Day?? "Anzacs"comes from Anzac cove in Gallipoli in Turkey, scene of tragic loss of life owing to senior officer error

I feel for you with the MIL situation. Mine makes me nuts too. How far away is yours? Fortunately my MIL drives my husband nuts as well. We are about an hour away from my in laws so we don't see them every day like the other kids do sometimes, and they don't tend to drop by without calling...too often. They do this to the other 3 brothers all of the time. They have been known to do it to us as well just not as often because it would be a waist of 2 hours to come here if we aren't home.

herbal weight loss?

Has anyone here every tried any of the herbal weight loss stuff? I used Chroma slim about 9 years ago and I am not sure if it worked or if it was the diet and excercise only. After the whole ephedra thing I am scared to try again, plus I am on Welbutrin and afraid of mixing the two.
Rhonda

LBH 04-19-2005 08:23 AM

Hi All,

Rhonda, I've never tried any of that stuff. I really don't think most of them work, and you have to be careful of herbal stuff, just like regular drugs.

LB, Thanks, I was going to ask what Anzac Day was. Enjoy your weekend in the country, sounds nice!

Lisa, Ugh, study, study, study...good luck on the mid-term!

My MIL drives me nuts, but not because of anything she actually does to me, it's just the way she is!

Not doing too bad with my goals, except that i changed my dentist appt. to May 2nd, since everyone is sick, I needed to be home. Going to try and go to Curves tonight, but DH is home today again, so I have to pick up the kids and bring them home first. I think I got all my water in...

Have a great day all!

Momadance 04-19-2005 09:44 AM

Hi everyone, just checking in. I've been enjoying our amazing weather, going for long walks everyday and trying to squeeze in some yoga at night. I've been job hunting for three weeks now and have lots of resumes out there, but no interviews yet. I am trying to make the switch from finance to academics and sometimes forget things move much, much slower in colleges than the do in the business world. The silence is more likely a result of the process than of my application, right?

I'm running out of clothes. I took five big trash bags full of clothing that didn't make me feel fabulous (too big, too ugly, you know the drill) and what remains fits, but is getting bigger every day. I bought a whole bunch of spring stuff in February for a trip to Florida but now it is all way too big. But until I know where I'll be working (academics, back in finance, publishing?) I don't want to committ to a new wardrobe.

ladyhawke1014 04-19-2005 10:38 AM

Hi everyone!! Well, my little one (a year today) is sick again. We aren't too sure what is going on. The Peditrician wants to ride out this course of antibiotics and see what happens. I'm thinking ears may not be the whole problem this time. He does have another ear infection, but I think there may be something else going on. DH is home with him and I think that he (DH) is getting cranky spending day number two with a cranky baby.

Fortunately, my MIL is cool. It's my mother that drives me abosultely insane :dizzy:. Both mom and MIL live in the same town as me. We all live on opposite sides of town. Enough space between us all though, no surprise vistis...usually:lol:

Rhonda--The only herbal stuff I have used is Metabolife and it just made me jittery. Saw a commercial for Lipotrin (sp??)which looked interesting, but I'm sure it's expensive so just more stuff that doesn't work **sigh**

LB-- Sounds like a great weekend!!

Momadance-- Something will come around soon :goodluck:

Lisa-- Good Luck with the midterms!!

LBH-- That is such a sweet pic in your signature. :)

lppennington 04-19-2005 11:28 PM

Hello all

Tonight there was only a little bit of studying. We went to Findlay, OH (1 hr south of us) for my grandmothers b-day. I showed her all the stuff I am doing for my History of Ireland class. (My last name is McCartney and theirs is McCann.) I kinda took it easy tonight. I do all my homework on the computer and I don't have a laptop, so I took notebook paper. (didn't write much - not my style)

Well I need to get going, I need to wake up in the morning. Talk at ya'll later.

RoadRunner 04-20-2005 05:32 AM

Good Morning!!!
Rosey--Dont mix any diet aide with Welbutrin or any medicine in the antidepressant/antianxiety classes...I started Lexapro and my MIL doesnt bother me at all!!!
She visits twice a year cuz we are on opposite sides of the USA!!!!

Goal wise--Excellent with diet but only escaped to the treadmill for 9 minutes before the radar signaled to the Princess where mom was!! :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

Lady--Hope the baby is better...Mine had 21 ear infections in 24 months soo I can sympathize...After the second set of tubes and adenoids removed in Nov--NO MORE!!!!

Hello all..gotta run to work~~~(ok..drive)
RR

RSRosey 04-20-2005 03:24 PM

MILs and Meds

~~Rosey--Dont mix any diet aide with Welbutrin or any medicine in the antidepressant/antianxiety classes..~~

Really? None of them at all? or is there a posibility my Doc could tell me which one would be ok?

~~I started Lexapro and my MIL doesnt bother me at all!!! ~~
Lexapro must be REALLY good if your MIL is anything like mine...LOL...I guess I am on the wrong med.

LBTEPA 04-20-2005 05:38 PM

Hi everyone
how are you going? It's really getting to autumn (fall) here - the nights are quite cold now but the days are sunny (so far). Yesterday morning I slept really badly but I still got up and went to run at the gym (2nd time ever) so the day started with a win! DH worked out how to make our new ADSL connection work too so our internet is 5 times faster now, yay!
Rosey - Definitely check with your Dr about mixing those classes of drugs - you could really mess up your mind and body!
Momadance - what agreat feeling it is to toss those big clothes - the new you is emerging like a butterfly :-). Fingers crossed for some resolution on the work front.
Now DD is getting cranky, better go and shovel some weetbix into her mouth while she throws her toast on the floor LOL
Have a great day everyone

Momadance 04-20-2005 09:11 PM

LBTEPA, thanks. I went out for a quick mall trip tonight (suddenly found myself with 3 interviews downtown tomorrow and all my suits are being repaired). I was quite surprised when I fit into a size I haven't seen in years! Maybe decades?

Love to hear how it is "down under" as my brother in law lives in Brisbane.

lppennington 04-20-2005 09:23 PM

Moma, that is great news about the suits!! Keep up the good work.

newmyers 04-20-2005 09:55 PM

new here

Just joined tonight! The more I try to loose the more I gain... ugh. I am tired of being overweight but don't want to be skinny. A friend of mine at work just had a stroke (she's in her 50's, diabetic, high BP, and obese). I want to take better care of myself before I get into those risk categories!

I have 3 great kids! A 4 year old girl, a 9 year old boy and a 2 1/2 year old boy. I teach special education. My major downfall as an eater would have to be that fact that I never feel full. I can always eat.

Kristina

RoadRunner 04-21-2005 05:24 AM

Off to work!!!
RR

ladyhawke1014 04-21-2005 10:11 AM

LB-- Well, I thought we were moving into spring and I planted a bunch of flowers and now the rest of the week it's supposed to be between the 40 and 50 all week. Hopefully they don't freeze.

Moma-- It must be fun to buy smaller clothes. I can't wait!!

Kristina--Welcome!! What is your method of your new lifestyle WW, South Beach, counting calories and fat etc.?

Hey, just out of curiosity has anyone seen the infomercial (or own) the Easy Shaper by fitness quest? Just wondering if it's any good. I'm not too impressed by the name, but the excercises look like they might be pretty reasonable for my off days of the Firm? :tread:

Have a great day everyone

lppennington 04-21-2005 11:45 AM

Lady, at least you are going to be in the 40's over the weekend. They are calling for winter mix of precipitation. I will be so glad when it stays warm. (Probably Aug.)

Welcome Kristina! My name is Lisa.

Well off to study.

midwife 04-21-2005 12:39 PM

Hi all, Welcome Kristina!

We are such a busy group, between school (hang in there Lisa!), working (or looking for work, which is a full time job!), those wonderful gorgeous babies of all ages (and I am including partners in that!! ), I just have to say, KUDOS to each of us for making time to take care of ourselves! In order to be the best we can be for those we love and for those we are otherwise obligated to, we have to fuel our bodies well, and work our muscles and bones. We have something figured out that most people don't....effort for ourselves pays off 10 fold.

So, ya'll give yourselves a big pat on the back, drink a big glass of water, and work some exercise into your day. Cause you're worth it and fabulous!!! ;)

Jen

lppennington 04-21-2005 02:59 PM

Jen, thanks for that uplifting post. Not that I am counting but after tonight's class I will have 3 weeks of school. I get out at 8pm and I plan on going to the gym afterwords. I need it. Just one more major project to do. 26 page Business Prospectus due on the 14th of May.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

LBH 04-21-2005 07:24 PM

Just a quick post to say Robby is in the hospital...ruled out RSV & Flu. They said it wasn't pneumonia, but now it might be? He's not doing soo bad, neb. tx every 3 hrs., and oxygen. That's what he was admitted for, low oxygen. More when I get a chance.

KarenK 04-21-2005 09:34 PM

Hello everyone,

Lauren: I'm so sorry that Robby is in the hospital. I hope he is out soon. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Kristina: Welcome!! You will find a lot of support here.

DH is coming home on Saturday, I'm so glad! I don't know how the military spouses do this. Every time Alex hears a noise he gets vey excited and says "Daddy!" I have to say no, it's not Daddy, he won't be home today. And poor Alex has been going to bed at 8 pm on the nose! We usually put him down between 8:15 and 8:30. I just need the break so much by then!

Hello to everyone else. I will try to catch up later.

RoadRunner 04-22-2005 05:07 AM

Keep us posted Lauren!!
Karen--Yeah on DH comming home!!!
Well...4 days on the diet..I even weighed this week for the first time..Excercise is slow cuz of a bad skin abrasion from my fall in Walmart..My shoe hits it every time, but I am getting there!!

Have a great one...I am tired this AM....0330 came tooo quick!!! :dizzy: :dizzy:
#2 has a tooth absess and may be hospitalized for IV antibiotics since she has that artificial titanium thingee in her heart..Poor baby's eye is closed from the swelling..It happened at school and DH said there was nothing there in the morning???? We are going to schedule surgery to pull them after she is on the meds for a few days..Poor baby, with that flat face(Down's) she gets soo much sinus infections that it is rough to treat...
RR

midwife 04-22-2005 09:36 AM

Poor little babies! I hope Robby and RR's #2 get well quick quick quick!
KarenK--been there done that with an active duty dh (he was on a sub and went out for as long as 6 months at a time!) But you know, it doesn't matter how long your partner is gone, if he or she is not there at the moment you need them, then life is very tough!

After years of considering it, I am getting lasik today. Except for dh and the kids, you guys are the only ones I have told. Wish me luck! I will check in tomorrow and let you know how it went!

ladyhawke1014 04-22-2005 10:57 AM

Lauren- Sorry to hear about Robby. My heart goes out to you. Keep us posted when you can.

KarenK- I hear ya about the DHs. Mine was just gone for a week and DD was so excited when he came home. I think I was in bed that night at 8 myself just being beat. Single moms and military moms do this all the time. I don't know how they do it. :bravo:

Lisa- Good luck with that prospectus :goodluck:

Jen- That's awesome about the Lasik. I really wanted to do it myself but unfortuantely we had to replace our fence that was falling down. Maybe next year. Can't do it all :kickcan: I wish I could.

OK, ladies time for me to get to workin' here today. Happy Friday!!
:goodvibes: to everyone
Heather

lppennington 04-22-2005 11:47 AM

Jen, my ex had lasik, said it was the best thing ever. I also just had a friend from school get it done and she said she would get it done all over again. so good luck and there is nothing to worry about.

RR, I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she gets better soon.

Lauren, Keep us posted on Robby. He is in my prayers.

Since I just woke up today I think I better get working on homework.

LBTEPA 04-22-2005 06:47 PM

Hi everyone
thoughts and prayers to the ill little ones and their worried mums too of course :( Absoultely with you, Karen and Heather - it's so hard when DH is away (mine is sometimes for 2-3 nights at a time and that's enough) - single mums and army mums need a medal (and a free nanny), I am in awe of them. But I'm in awe of all mums, it's the most important job in the world and 24/7.
We are holidaying at my Mum's in the country for a few days, so pleasant to just 'do nothing' :) Went shopping for jeans for DH and he suggested I try on some cheap 'chickybabe' jeans (button front, low waist, slight flare); I agreed just for a laugh - and they fit!!!!! (Slight muffin top at the waist but I don't go bare midriff so that's no problem LOL) I barely took them off to sleep I am so excited.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend

Don't ya just love that. :) Have a nice time with your mom. Enjoy the spoiling that you're probably going to get.

Wishing a speedy recovery to thoses sick little ones!

I am just watching portion control and snacks. I did weight watchers before but don't have the extra cash to spend on membership right now. I keep in mind points but don't count... yet...

I love snacks at night while watching tv. I think I spend 1/2 my daily calories there! I have started brushing my teeth at 8:30pm so I won't like the taste of food after toothpaste. I can eat zero or one point foods (carrots, apples) for snack before that.

Happy NFL Draft day to football widows! LOL DH has been looking forward to today for months!
