Default Searching for diet vs. reg. pop info

Just wondering if anyone has read info. about diet beverages making you "more hungy". Yes, I'm pregnant and as a result switched to reg. pop and I'm eating less than I was while dieting at meals and have no desire to snack. I'm 12 weeks now and haven't gained at all and can't think of anything else I can contribute this to. And no, I haven't been having morning sickeness or other weird "symptoms of preganacy". Any input would be helpful

Hi PGMom! Welcome to 30-something's! I don't think I've read anything specifically about that, but I'm guessing that sugary carbonated beverages could hinder your appetite. As far as not gaining anything, if your Dr. isn't concerned, I wouldn't worry about it. There's a good chance that if you're overweight, your body might just be using your stored fat, ya' know?

By the way, I am by no means a professional, and all this is just my opinion! Please speak with your Dr. if you have serious concerns!

OK, that being said, I just had a baby 2 1/2 wks. ago, and I ended up only gaining 9 lbs. My baby was 9.4 lbs. My midwife was not concerned that i was losing weight toward the end of my PG, because the baby was fine.

Maybe if you tried to cut down on the soda, and drink some more water, you'll see a difference. Please keep us posted!!

Lauren -

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! You must be pretty exhausted these days, but it's worth it.
I don't drink much pop but thought it was weird I have little to no appetite these days and doc. deffinately is not worried right now. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I have a friend in NJ, tell her hi if you see her?

I lost 14lbs with my last baby. I am betting you are fine but keep checking it and talking with your doctor. Congratulations on the pregnancy.
