Back at it Again

  • I have been a long time member of this forum - but I yo-yo a lot. I'll be good about whatever program I've subscribed to for awhile and then off plan for awhile. The last time I got into things I was doing well until I got mono... which killed my drive to do anything, and then it became a habit. So here I am 2 years later after my last attempt and trying all over again. I'm doing the WeightWatchers at Home program and could use all the support possible.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
  • hey Zeta! I'm doing Dr. Ian's Fat Smash. Also a yo yo dieter but looking to end all of that..once and for all!
  • Sorry about your setbacks, but it's great that you're making another effort. I hope you have success with the WW program.
  • Hey ZetaMD2Be

Good to hear you are back on it! It takes a lot of courage to get started again after setbacks.

You mentioned that your behaviour became a habit. That struck a chord with me - because the truth is realising my behaviour was controlled by my own habits enabled me to begin making more permanent changes to my life.

The yo-yoing between weights comes from ignoring years of ingrained habits, letting the cravings build and then eventually relapsing. It sucks, hard.

We all screw up, fail. In fact if we don't fail sometimes then I honestly don't think we are trying hard enough at life.

What's important is to look at what went wrong when we fail and learn from it. If you throw yourself into a diet plan, restrict everything that you eat and ignore your base cravings and the habits that you've developed then this could be the cause.

It can take time to fully integrate a new diet into your lifestyle - so if you struggle making one diet stick for the long term you could perhaps just try changing one thing at a time (ie, swap out one bad meal for a healthy meal each week).

Sounds like it would take a long time, but after 21 weeks that's 3 healthy meals a day on your chosen way of eating and you've given your body time to adapt.

Stick with it, if you become too overwhelmed with it all, that's fine. Just take a step back, figure out what is going wrong and learn from it and tweak your approach.

  • Hi guys, I just joined not long ago and I'm already loving the support and motivational help I'm seeing u all give to one another. I'm also a yoyo dieter and am sick of having to face ppl I know cause every time they see me I'm fatter or not , really does my head in.

I also joined with lite n easy program so I'll get the goods in5 days time. I hav tried it all and the weight never stuck haha but I still have to try gain for the 100th time, wish me luck and good luck to u guys too.
  • Thanks for the support everyone! I'm actually still doing pretty well with Weight Watchers - 2 months in or so now. I have awesome days and not so awesome days. I do like that I can really eat whatever I want -- it's about making better choices. I've purposefully not been restricting myself this time around, to prevent that from happening. I'm down 15lbs at this point! Hoping to keep it up through 2017
  • Welcome back - I've been a member since July of 2013 but I forgot my log in info so I had to make a new account but this time around I wrote down my log in info so I dont have to keep making new accounts each time.
