Talking I'm So Proud Of Myself!

So, I work night shift, and of course that means last night my ALREADY long shift was longer at 13.5 hours. I fought with myself ALL THE WAY HOME about not wanting to exercise when I get home, though I've set a minimum of 20 min/day on work days and 30 min/day on non-work days as my "must do or else"

I came up with EVERY excuse... SILLY ONES! First off... it was in the 30's when I got off work... NO WAY am I going for a walk when it's that cold. Then, I tore up the living room looking for my DVD player remote and I said "Well, can't find the remote, so I can't do the work out I want to do" (still haven't found it, btw... dang teenagers! )

Then I proceded to go into the kitchen and fix me a small bowl of baked spaghetti that I had leftover... I counted the points, but STILL not what I needed before heading to bed. Then, as I was eating MY WEAKNESS I said "SHAME ON YOU WENDY!!! GET YOUR HINEY IN THERE AND DO YOUR DANG 20 MINUTES!!! IT'S TAKEN YOU MORE THAN THAT LONG TO ARGUE WITH YOURSELF ABOUT IT!!!" .... SOOOOO... I strapped on my weighted gloves, put in the "Turbo Jam" DVD and pushed play ON THE MACHINE! WITHOUT A REMOTE!!! I did 20 minutes and went to bed.

Furthermore, I woke up about an hour earlier than planned, tossed and turned for 15 min, realizing I wasn't falling back to sleep... I got up, put my tennies on and took a nice brisk walk for 30 minutes!

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL SUCCESS!

Default Thanks ladies!

The old me with the old attitude would have TOTALLY said, "forget it!" and climbed in the bed and would've vegged out in front of the tv or computer when waking up early.

I'm definitely liking the new me with my new attitude!

Congrats on the new frame of mind... I'm still working on that part... I am the self appointed queen of procrastination! I am working on it though! Good for you!!

That's great Wendy. Keep up the good work. I find that if I can get home, make and eat dinner early with my daughter and change into my work out clothes, the minute my hubby walks through the door, either I am out for a run or to the gym. For some reason, putting on the clothes and running shoes always keeps me motivated instead of just plopping down on the couch, which I would rather do sometimes! Good for you for sticking with your plan and working out when you didn't feel like it. I am sure you felt great afterwards as well!

That's actually a good point. I raed in a magazine somewhere a long time ago that on the days when you don't feel like going to the gym (and I know, I know, sometimes that can be EVERY day) if you'll at least get dressed and drive over to the gym and then, if by the time you get there you still don't feel like going, turn around and go home. 9 times out of 10 you're going to go ahead and go in.
