A happy early birthday to you, Matilda! :)

This weekend was a bust. I was sick AND the Hubs broke his ankle falling off a horse.:dizzy: So, schedules were conflicted. At least I still lost just under a half pound for the week... considering the chips and cake that was consumed yesterday--its a miracle the scale didn't just DIE when I got on!;):D

Hope everyone is doing well.

The weather is screwy here. wishing for fall!:)

Hello

Hi everyone,

I am new on here, but thought I would jump into the monthly chat thread, since that seems to be what everyone recommends...hope that's okay.

I am married, no kids. I've tried lots of different diets (haven't we all?) and I'm hoping to get into some kind of rhythym that will work for me. Right now, I'm reading the Beck Diet Solution, which is making a lot of sense.

I look forward to getting to know people here and give/receive support!

Have a great day!

Hi Minnie
I am fairly new too, and so far everyone has been fantastic! I am engaged, three kids and on the South Beach Diet plan. So far I LOVE it. WAY more than I did the first time I tried it. I find it super easy and it makes total sense. Maybe before I was just not ready? I dunno.
Anyway that being said I am right in a funky slump. Went to a wedding on Sunday, and was a bit off plan for the dinner portion of the day. (can anyone say good wine, great food and late hours!) Anyway, now because of that one meal, cravings are back, weight went back on a bit, and Ugh. But we have all been there right? The only way to get through it is to get back on plan and not be TOO hard on ourselves HAHA.

Anyway, have a fantastic day!

hey everybody,

i don't really care about BMI, but out of curiosity i checked mine online and it's not pretty.

BMI 32.5
obese class I

do u guys track BMI? how important is it overall?

ideal weight range is 124 - 136.4 lbs. (56.4 - 62 kg.) for a woman my size. makes me overweight by minimum of 46.6 lbs.

SunnyDC 10-13-2010 06:14 PM

BMI ranges:

Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5-24.9 Normal
25.0-29.9 Overweight
30.0 or higher Obese

SunnyDC, I pay attention to it, but only because it's on my Wii where I weigh and on my ticker. I must admit I am anxious and excited to be about 1 pound away from not being obese anymore. Never again!!!

Lazylioness--First of all, congrats on the weight you have lost so far. I tried the SBD for about 2 days once a few years ago (how's that for perseverence? ) I freaked out a little bit because I felt so obsessive about it, and I didn't plan very well before I started, which is a recipe for disaster. I'm glad you had a good weekend, and yes, it's about climbing back on the wagon!

SunnyDC--I didn't use to worry about BMI at all, but then my doctor told me that mine was something like 42  and that got my attention. So, I have the number in the back of my mind and used BMI to help me figure out a good range to aim for, but I take it with a grain of salt. I've heard BMI's are notoriously inaccurate because they can't factor in how muscular you are, frame size, etc.

Have a good night!

lazylioness 10-14-2010 01:03 PM

Thanks Minnie! I have found that I do stumble when I do not plan out well enough! Water is a big one for me. I have noticed that oddly enough, if I have a bottle of water in front of me at work I drink more than when I try to have glasses of water at home during the weekend! But all in all SBD is awesome, I cannot say enough good things about it! The first week is the hardest for sure, but after that, I have just not felt like I am missing anything.

SunnyDC 10-14-2010 01:32 PM

@minniepaul--yea true b/c to "measure" my frame the site said to place my fingers around my wrist and if my fingers overlapped i was small frame, barely touching average frame, not touching large frame and that's how they factored it in to my BMI. i picked average. that's really unscientific, but i guess a clever way to sorta tell.

MinniePaul 10-14-2010 09:45 PM

@lazylioness--Yeah the water thing is one of those things that should be obvious, but I always forget about it too. I'm glad the SBD is working for you. I'm not sure I could do it, but the Beck Diet Solution asks me to pick two diets (a primary one and a backup one), so maybe the SBD will end up on the list somewhere.

@SunnyDC--I am a bit mystified by the idea of picking a goal weight. I used BMI to find out what the "healthy range" would be, but I kind of think I'll figure it out as I get to that point. I've never really been a healthy weight, so it's hard for me to know what's even realistic at this point, ya know?

Hi everyone! I joined this forum last year, but I am just now starting to post. I hope it is okay to just in on this thread. I am a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids and am still trying to lose the weight from my last baby (he is 4). I just realized the other day that there are only a few pictures of my kids with me. I tend to avoid the camera. Anyway, I really want to change that.

The information on BMI was very helpful. I checked mine, and I'm obese. That helped me set a goal. I want to be at a healthy BMI. Thanks for posting that! :)

hi! glad i could help. (i did my BMI test on bing.com for anyone else wanting to know.)

JayLei 10-15-2010 04:46 PM

Woot! I stepped on the wii this morning and watched my skinny mii get bigger and bigger. But! I didn't get the cheery little squeaky voice saying "That's Obese!" I am right on the line and have a BMI of 30.

I actually sat and cried (good tears!) as I updated my ticker. Then I read some posts here and headed to my closet to try on clothes I haven't worn forever. My next major goal is to have 1/2 of my total loss met which will be 160.5. I can't believe I'm so close!!
