Sooooo s l o w......

  • I joined the gym at work nearly a year ago. I didn't really start watching what I was eating until January. I have been busting my butt...
And it has taken me a WHOLE YEAR to lose 25 lbs. Soooooo s l o w....

How do you stay motivated/commited when things are moving along at a snail's pace?
  • Look at it this way...in the last year you lost 25lbs, you could have gained them instead. Sometimes it is slow but you just need to keep your goals visible and keep working toward them. You can do it!
  • I get frustrated, too, at how slow my weight loss is. I've been stuck in the same 3 lbs (203-205) for WEEKS. WEEEEEEKS. And it darn sure isn't because this is my healthy weight.

When I truly get frustrated I think- well, I was gaining 10 lbs a year, now I lost 20+ in one year. I've reversed 2 years of weight gain. So that's something. And I definitely have more energy and feel healthier.
  • I feel ya sister. Especially when I read about other people losing 20 lb in two months. I want to scream! It's taken me five months to lose maybe 15 lb. *sigh* I'm glad I lost them though, and that's what matters (I guess lol).

  • It took me so long to find something that actually worked for me to drop weight. The last 4 years I have spent yo-yoing between different weights and have hated myself for it. When I first started I did WW and dropped 50 lbs the first 4 months and then a lb here or there over the course of the next 1.5 years. Then I gave up on dieting and had a free for all in year 3 and gained 30 lbs back - big mistake. So here I am in year 4 and feel like I am moving back in the right direction. There have been weeks when I have asked myself why am I doing this when I see no results? But I have been able to establish a pattern for myself this round and I know that when I am hormonal that I won't see a loss for about 1.5 weeks - sometimes more. I just have to be patient and push past it. Once I push past it and stick to it then I can usually get my motivation back and see a loss (may be small but a loss is a loss). Those hormonal weeks are hard to stick with.
  • Slow loser here as well. I want to scream when I see people loosing 10lbs in a month. I feel happy for them, but often confused and hurt because I am trying so hard and being honest with my program only to BARELY loose an average of 1lb per week, most times less.

A couple of months ago, I finally achieved some semblance of peace. I decided that I have to keep doing the right things, no matter what the scales says. If I do, I'm sure to reach my goals.

    to all you slow losers.

I try to focus a LOT on things other than the scale, too. I feel good - so I focus on that. My clothes fit SOOO much better - I focus on that. I am running (and enjoying!) 5ks and I focus on improving that.

9 years ago, I was almost 45 lbs heavier. Even though it has taken me so long, I would NEVER go back to what I was like then. But MAN sometimes I wish it would happen a LITTLE faster. (and maybe a little easier?)
  • I was the same way - lost 20 lbs like nothing and then stopped. I added weights into my workout and have been losing steady since! Nothing big, one day do some arm workouts the next do legs then take a break. It really has made a big diff for me. It can't hurt to try!!!!!

I am in the same boat. The first 25lbs came off fast, now it's a snail pace. We have similar stats too
