weighing in every day

  • I think I need to stop getting on that scale every day. It is very frustrating to me all the ups and downs. I lost 3 lbs this week and I don't seem happy with it because I can only see the -.4 or the +.6 on the daily weighs and am not looking at the bigger picture. I need to put my scale away and only bring it out on Mondays. I will try it this week and see how it goes. It's going to be hard as I have gotten used to getting on that thing several times a day. Yikes!
  • Hormonal fluctuations, sodium, water retention, muscle recovery - it all plays into the daily fluctuations. But stepping on the scale throughout the day is just borrowing trouble. It's like stepping on it 4 or 5 times in a row....of course you'll get a slightly different number.

I weigh every day - in the morning before breakfast. I don't get to excited if the scale is a little up (but it does make me mindful of my sodium intake!) And - if it's down a LOT, I don't figure it will stick.

If I only weigh on Mondays - I don't do any hard work until Friday...can anyone say PROCRASTINATION??
  • Don't feel bad, I am scale obsessed too. I have cut back to once a day but rethinking that as well. If it is up, then I am upset for the day and have a harder time sticking with it.

    So Mondays it is.
    Today 174.6.
  • I weigh myself once a day. I like it. Keeps my eating on track. If I don't do it once a day I figure I can cheat that day sorta. I like knowing that little bit counted or didn't. I can kind of gauge now when I eat certain things when it will actually affect the scale.

Oh but I only weigh myself in the morning and if I haven't eaten. If I've eaten I don't do it!
  • I weigh myself every freakin time I go into the restroom in our master bedroom (probably like 4 times). The actual number doesn't really effect me, just makes me work a little harder sometimes...

I agree. That's what it does for me. In the beginning I would let it bum me out but now, It's just motivation!
