It's Been Awhile... But I'm Back!

  • Aloha everyone,

Not sure if anyone remembers me but don't blame ya... it's been awhile. After HUGE changes here at home, I am officially back on the grind! Luckily I managed to carve a couple pounds off int he last few months but NOTHING compared to how many it should have been.

Anyway, we're in a new place and we've got work, Internet and other things back into action so I am ready to tackle this full blast and make sure this is the LAST summer I spend overweight!

    What's new with me:

I created a running track at home so I can run a few times a week outside, but without leaving my acre!

After reading some books and finally putting an end to my denial in regard to the meat production industry, I have finally made the plunge and am officially vegetarian.

Otherwise, not too many changes I look forward to getting to know you all again. You guys were soooo helpful when I frequented last time!
  • Welcome back!
  • Welcome back, it sounds like things are going well for you!
  • Hi! Nice to 'meet' you! How long have you been running? Did you lose all of your weight so far with running? I just started back at it last Saturday (6/12) and am almost able to run a mile nonstop! Slowly, but steadily, I'll get it.
  • back!
  • Thanks! I appreciate the welcome

Olivia- I have been running since about 210 pounds... it was really tough at first but it's like second nature at this point. I run and use workout DVDs when I don't feel motivated or it's raining outside too much. My favorite workout is definately running.
  • Good for you! I drag myself out every morning, because it feels so good after I've given it my all. I eventually want to run a 5K, but for now, getting to that 1 mile mark will be a BIG accomplishment!
  • Welcome back!
  • Olivia,

You WILL get there before you know it-that 5k I mean. I totally remember hitting the 1 mile marker. Once you've done that, the rest pretty much just falls into place if you keep at it

So I take it you run outside? or do you use the treadmill? Or both?!
  • Outdoors only, so far. It works my body way harder than the treadmill. But if weather is not cooperating, I'll get on a treadmill for sure! I was able to get up to a 10 minute mile 10 years ago when I jogged for the first time EVER in my life. That track kicked my butt, but the results were well worth every drop of blood, sweat and tears that I shed! And I'm determined to do it again. I'm so encouraged by you ladies who started running when you weighed over 200 lbs. So, thank you for the inspiration!
  • Good for you!
