The Magic of 3FC's, please work again!

  • Hello All!
I have been away for a long time, and am so relived to see my profile still active! Two years (I think) ago, I used this web site as my go-to tool for my weight loss support. I lost 40lbs that summer!!!

But now I'm back having gained 20lbs just in the last 6-8 months. I realized I was out of control, so now I'm back here again. I don't really have any support around me, family doesn't care, hubby is getting tired of hearing me, and friends seem to be un-interested. I'm basically alone in this - again!

Losing the weight seems to be a lot harder than I remember! When I was 240, the weight just seem to melt off! The newness has worn off, and the prospect of the long term is incomprehensible! Staying motivated is key!

Please, please help to keep me motivated! I know I sound desperate, but I really truly am!
  • We are all here for you again! Post often!
  • Thanks! I need all the encouragement I can get!
  • Hey Sarah!

I'm sorry to hear that you feel "on your own" for this journey. I speak from experience when I say that your DH might come along with you in time. Mine decided at the first of the year (how cliche, right?) that he was going to join me (after 6mo of working out and counting calories on my own). He's since dropped over 50lbs and started running recently! Wow, who knew!?

I have lost these pounds before also, and can relate to it being harder this time. I think for me it's the fact that when I did it before I was 28-29 with 2 kids, and now I'm 34 with 4 kids.

Hope to see you around the boards! Looking forward to getting to know you better.

    Andrea
  • I know exactly how you feel! I lost 110 pounds back in 06/07 with a lot of help and support from 3FC, then I gained back 80 pounds with pregnancy and still need to lose 60. Let's help each other!
  • Thanks Andrea and Lisa!
So far so good. It's been one week and I survived. Just need to get through this week.
  • Welcome back homebound! I seem to recall your name from around these here parts!

I get the "on your own" thing; I've been doing this on my own for the last 50 pounds (I don't talk about the weight loss with anyone unless they ask and even then, it's the usual "what diet are you on?"). It's hard, but when you lean too much on others for support, sometimes that support crumbles as *they* get demotivated. I reckon it's better to let people know what you're doing, but rely on yourself.

You don't have to worry too much about motivation; we got that in spades here.
  • Thanks Mollie!
It is so great to know that I can just come here and get all the encouragement I need!
  • Welcome homebound!
