Need motivation!!!

  • Hi everyone, my name is Nikki and I'm 37yrs old and a cool 60+ lbs overweight. I have a good job, great husband and son, and can't seem to get myself on track to loosing all this extra weight. I have tried numerous times in the past, and just when I start seeing/feeling results, then *Wham* off the wagon I go. What's up with this??? Am I sabotaging myself? Am I afraid? Somebody help!!!
I'm a nurse, so rationally I know how much better my overall health will be, but why have I been so unsuccessful? Sheesh, this is making nuts. Any ideas, suggestions, comments?
    Thanks for any help...
    ~Nikki
  • you have to just determine to do. STart off slow and simple. Start by changing eating habits..have breakfast, eat more whole grain, eat more fruit/veggies. Get moving and exercise...then find a program that works for you. Remember this isn't a diet..its a lifestyle change. You need to decide to be healthy for your family and yourself. So get to it...good luck..join us on our daily chat...a lot of us find help/support there.
  • I agree start off slowly and focus on the lifestyle change rather than the scale. If you fall off track, it's okay..just get back on track the next moment. Make sure the bulk of your diet consists of fruit, veggies and lean protein and whole grains.

You can sneak in exercise anywhere. Park farther away from the stores, walk around the mall a few times on a rainy day. Do crunches while watching TV.

And best of all...don't be so hard on yourself.
  • Welcome, Defliniatly, dont be hard on yourself. As someone once told me, you didnt gain it over nite so dont expect to loose it over nite. Look at it as a life change not a "Diet".
